  • Is there a good music player app for windowsphone? I can't get media player to sync with my phone.

I want something where I can buy music online and sync to my surface pro and Nokia Icon like Itunes, I was using Amazon cloud player on my Android but now I have the Windows phone instead and it seems they have no support for Windows phone. Anything like that available for windows phone. I was hoping I could use windows media player but I can't find it for windows phone, is that possible? seems very odd there is no WMP for Windows phone.

Xbox music comes standard on your Windows Phone and as part of Windows 8.X.
There is also a Nokia music service for your phone and a corresponding app for Windows 8.X.
There are be others, including an apps  that may access iTunes. (I have never used iTunes)
Get creative in your searches in the Store on your phone and the store on your Windows 8 computer.

  • Is there a good way to "debug" a QuickTime

The subject of my question is a little misleading, but I couldn't think of a better way to phrase it.
Until recently, I've done all my work in ProRes 422 (not HQ) using 8-bit rendering. Naturally, I expect that all my finished QuickTimes coming out of Final Cut have had 8-bit video in them. This has been fine.
But yesterday I rendered a graphics project out of After Effects that exhibited some pretty nasty banding. "I know," said I, "I'll make this a 16-bit project, then render out to a 10-bit ProRes movie."
I went through all the necessary steps to do this — since this isn't an After Effects forum I won't go into details, but feel free to ask if it sounds like I need to be checked on these — and got a resulting QuickTime movie that … looked exactly like the first one.
This got me scratching my head, so I went back into Final Cut, took some 8-bit footage I'd shot on my camera and dropped it into two ProRes 422 (HQ this time, just for safety) timelines, otherwise identical except for the "render all in high-precision YUV" option which was ticked on for one and off for the other.
I applied the same ridiculous three-way-CC filter to each clip, and rendered them out as self-contained QuickTimes.
Opening each movie in QuickTime Pro and looking at the info inspector reveals that they're each a 1440x1080 ProRes 422 (not HQ) movie with "millions of colors." Specifically not "trillions of colors."
Are there any good tricks or tools for peeking inside a QuickTime file and finding out exactly how the video is stuffed in there? Is there a good tool that I can use that will tell me, for example, "Hey, this QuickTime contains movie data encoded with the ProRes 422 compressor, stored as 10-bit YUV," or whatever?
Cause of course one possibility is that one of these movies really is 10-bit and the other really is 8-bit and QuickTime Pro is just wrong about the "millions of colors" thing. But the other possibility is that I messed something up in my workflow, and both of these movies really are 8-bit, despite my telling Final Cut specifically to use high-precision rendering for one of them.
    Any suggestions?

Well, there are settings you can change in QuickTime Player to improve it's playback. Look in the Window menu to see the properties and inspect the QT movie.. there is a button to turn on in the Inspector so it plays at "high quality".. it's not the default setting, and will show you all the quality you have. Plus viewing interlaced material on a computer display will never look all that great, because the computer display is progressive, not interlaced... need to always judge things externally on a video monitor because of this, or add a Matrox MXO to your system to change the nature of the computer display so it becomes a video monitor in essence.
BUT any time you put a clip in a sequence in FCP, it changes it's format to match the format that the sequence itself is set to be. So if you put a 10 bit clip in a sequence set to render in 8, it becomes an 8 bit movie.

  • Looking for a good music player app

    Hi.
I have a problem. i'm looking for a good music player app for my new iphone (which i will buy my next month) in terms of playing music. after having 3 phones in the last 9 months i'm still unhappy.
Had a Samsung Galaxy Ace. sound was above average but due to underpowered processor + RAM (and Samsung stating they won't update the software anymore) i had to sell it.
Than had a Sony Ericcson Xperia Neo but felt the sound was "flat" and bland" and left me disappointed and uninspired coming from a well-known phone maker know for its audio & visual expertise.
Now, i currently have the HTC Desire S. umm although the sound was "Ok" with its usual pre-set equalizers (common among Android phones) and SRS sound enhancement it felt me wanting more and although i have the phone for a week now i would say "so far-so good."
but i heard the best music phones out there are those with either Beats Audio (which are very brand new) or the ones with Dolby Mobile.
had an iPod touch (4th-gen) and i was amazed and impressed by the sound quality.
so, if i can get away with a good music player app that recreates surround sound, has good preset EQ's along with customisable ones and one with Dolby-like support which app would you recommend?
    Thank you.

Stock lock screen does not normally support 3rd party widgets so you wont find any third party players that allows you access while on lock screen..  As for the player I perfer Meridian Media Player Revolute from https://market.android.com/details?id=org.iii.romulus.meridian&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsIm9yZy5paWkucm9tdWx1cy5tZXJpZGlhbiJd

  • Are there any good black box testing tools for j2me?

Is there any good testing tools available for testing software on physical mobile devices?
I would like to partially replace manual testing with automated testing using a test tool. It should work on physical devices, and with the help of a script it should be possible to execute predefined sequences of button pressings on the device. Preferably there should also be some way of deciding whether the test was a succes without having to do so entirely manually.
The purpose with this would be to make it easier to go through the test protocols, which has to be done before every new software release.
Deviceanywhere.com looks promising at first glance but it is rather costly. Still, does anyone have an opinion of it?
Does anyone has experience of Mobile junit for this kind of testing? Is it possible to define series of physical button pressings with it? At first glance it doesn't seem so.

  • I'm using Parallels 7 on an imac with Windows 7.  Both OSX and Windows (and especially quicken on Windows) runs very slow.  Is there a good way to fix this?

Since installing Parallels 7 and Windows 7 (to use Quicken), my imac and the virtual computer run very slow.  Is there a good fix?

Start up while holding Command R and run Disk Utility, check the SMART status and repair your hard drive.

  • Safari and Others Hang. Is there a good way to diagnose which process is being a trouble maker?

I have a peculiar problem that has been developing for some time now.
    Current Symptoms:
Safari (Any Version 5.0-Current) will load but WebProcess.app Opens to 100%
on one core of CPU (Non-Responsive) and no web-pages will load.
VLC.app launches in the same fashion, one process pegs to 100%.
iMovie.app hangs.  Not crashing, but failing to successfully launch.
Apple Script saved as an application behaves in the same way.
    Attempted Diagnosis:
I'm currently running OS 10.7.3 on a Early 2009 Mac Pro.
         I have tried:
Deleted Preferences, and Saved Application States. Then realized the
problem can't be in ~/Lib/Prefs. because it also is a problem on a clean user
profile I created to check. So I also looked in /Sys/Lib/Prefs. with no Success.
I have run disk permissions more times that I can count.
This comes up with regularity but solves nothing:
Group differs on “Library/Preferences/com.apple.alf.plist”; should be 80; group is 0.
      Repaired “Library/Preferences/com.apple.alf.plist”
      Permissions differ on “usr/lib/ruby”; should be lrwxr-xr-x ; they are drwxr-xr-x .
      Repaired “usr/lib/ruby”
Reinstalled 10.7.3 from the Combo Updater from apples website.  No Help.
I did find launching any affected App from the Unix Exe File in the .app
bundles (So it launches in terminal)  will open them and allow them to
             runwithout issue (yea! temporary fix)!
Finally I booted with -x into Safe Mode.  There the problem vanished.  Hooray
it's another piece of  software or an extension I have loaded (Could  be any over
the past 6 months or so)!
So, I rebooted and tried to launch Safari immediately. It worked!  Only after a
minute or so, when the GUI and background Apps had finished
            loading, the problem returns.
    What I need help with:
Is there any good way to tell what application is causing the problem or what
these four apps have in common?  I have looked at Console Logs, Crash Reports,
etc. etc. but admittedly am not sure what to look for.  I would be happy to post logs
or reports or more detailed info, if it would help.
Otherwise Thank-you to anyone who reads this and has any good ideas short
    of a fresh install. Cheers!

    Hi...
Reinstalled 10.7.3 from the Combo Updater from apples website.
The only way to reinstall the Mac OS X or repair the startup disk running v10.7.3 Lion, is to use Lion Recovery The combo update does not do that.
How much free space on the startup disk? Not enough free space can account for the problems with your apps.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
    and no web-pages will load.
Try using OpenDNS as suggested here >  Safari 5.0.1 or later: Slow or partial webpage loading, or webpage cannot be found
Use OpenDNS for better speed, more security, includes anti phishing filters, prevents browser redirects, and it's free.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
    Click +
Enter these addresses exactly as you see them here.
    208.67.222.222
    Click +
    208.67.220.220
    Then click OK.

  • Is there a good motion tracking plug-in for FCP-X?

The question is in the headline:  Is there a good motion tracking plug-in for FCP-X?
You know, like when I want to blur out, say, a license plate number on a moving car.
I know of no plug-ins for FCP-X that will do this.  Surely there's one out there.
And since you can't just export a sequence to Motion (like you could in FCP 7), how would one achieve this in FCP-X?

    R&B wrote:
… And since you can't just export a sequence to Motion …
instead of selecting a clip or sequence in FCPX, you set the in/out points in the Export/Send it to Compressor dialog.
the exported mov can be tracked in Motion5 …-
    aaaand finally re-imported into FCPX.
… not exactly as convenient as in the old FC/p , but the tracker in M5 offers, imho as a hobbyist, superb results.-

  • Is there a good GUI tool on linux for backups? What do YOU use?

    Hi all,
I feel Linux lacks a good and simple graphical tool to do desktop backups for regular users. I'm thinking of writing one myself (probably a front-end to a good command line tool), but before I get started, I want to make sure I'm not reinventing the wheel.
    So:
    - Is there a good graphical tool available already? It should be: simple (minimalist interface, sane defaults), fast and incremental.
    - What do YOU currently use for your desktop backups?
EDIT: rsync alone is not great, because a good backup solution keeps multiple snapshots. Imagine you deleted a file by accident 15 days ago, and realize only today: rsync won't save you.
EDIT2 : I have tried backintime, I think it's a step in the right direction, but it's not that great. Maybe I should improve on it instead of starting something new, though.
EDIT3 : Has anyone tried PyBackPack (http://andrewprice.me.uk/projects/pybackpack/) ? I'm trying it at the moment and it seems to be getting it right. I'd like to hear some success stories before getting my hopes to high

It doesn't snapshot -- I occasionally back-up my back-ups and don't need that -- but it does its job well.

Is there a good apple based alternative to the persona finance software program "quicken for mac"?  It is a poorly supported program.

I switched from Quicken on a Windows computer to iBank on a Mac. It is a very good program, has very good free download connections to financial institutions (optional), and very good reports. The only negative is that it is just different enough from Quicken that there is a learning curve and the first month or two were frustrating -- but that is likely true of anything that you might change to. http://www.iggsoftware.com/ibank/

  • Is there a good T9 texting app?

After using a regular phone for so long, i've gotten used to using the t9 word to text. Is there a good app that uses T9?

No. T9 is applicable only to phones that use numeric dial pads instead of true qwerty keyboards. You can't text using the phone dial pad on an iPhone - only the keyboard.
Although you're used to the T9 and numeric dial pad, with a little practice the keyboard is as fast or faster, particularly when you use real English words instead of texting "abbreviations."
    Change is good.
I'd hardly call the QWERTY keyboard, well over a century old, "Change". It is designed to be used with two hands with all fingers, not on a device that is barlely over half my single handspan with each "key" a tenth of my thumbprint. The numeric keypad plus T9 was truly innovative allowing very fast imput using one hand/digit on devices that were very small. It makes a lot of sense. This is a massive technological step backwards.
And abbreviations don't fit in with T9, 'txt' language came before with the slower method of scrolling through charecters by button hits - people just continued using it in the T9 era because they liked the abbreviations.
