Is There a History Panel in Encore?

Hello,
I'm making several beginner mistakes in Encore, which is to be expected.
Is there a History panel in Encore like there is in Premiere Pro and Photoshop?  That would be so helpful.
I can't seem to find it.  All I see is a history option in the pull down menu, but I like having it all in its own panel.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Matt

Matt,
Unless it was recently added, no.
I would guess that because En is just an abstraction layer for the Sonic AuthorCore modules, that there is not that capability in the AuthorCore, but could be wrong.
It WOULD be nice to have such. It has saved my bacon in PrPro and PS, many times. Feature Request.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Is there a History panel in Illustrator as there is in Photoshop?

    Hi...
I was wondering whether there is a panel in Illustrator similar to the History Panel in Photoshop that records actions performed on a document?
    Thanks!

No, there's nothing like that in Illustrator. Illustrator just has normal undo/redo functionality. There's a suite dealing with Undo but it doesn't tell you anything about what happened during a particular transaction.

  • Does CS5 enable the history panel in code view?

I saw an old thread from last year (http://forums.adobe.com/message/1038491#1038491) where people confirmed that the history panel is only enabled in "design view", and is disabled in "code view". I'm wondering whether that feature has been changed in CS5. Does anybody know?
The reason I'm wondering is I'm trying to create keyboard shortcuts to quickly comment code (either /* */, or //) and remove comments. I know there's a button available on the toolbar that will add a /* */ comment, so getting a keyboard shortcut for that isn't such a big deal, but I'd really like a way to remove comments that's faster than right-clicking on a text selection to bring up the context menu, go down to "Selection >", and click on "Remove Comment". From what I've read, it seems like the best way to make a keyboard shortcut for that would be to select some text and do "Remove Comment" through the context menu, then create a macro/command using the history panel, and finally assign a keyboard shortcut to that command. However, this doesn't seem possible since for me the history panel is disabled when I'm in code view (in Dreamweaver 8).
If anyone has a better solution to my real question, of how to create a keyboard shortcut to remove comments from code, I'd be very grateful to hear it!

Wow, I didn't even realize that button to remove coding was there. I was looking at the /* */ button on the PHP tab of the Insert toolbar, and trying to find another button there that would remove comments, and didn't realize there already was one on the coding toolbar. That's perfect, thanks a lot! And thank you also for the info on the CS5 history panel.

  • How many steps can be recorded in the History panel?

In Photoshop, 20 steps can be recorded in the Histroy panel with the defult setting, and we can change the setting to record more or less steps by choosing "Edit> Preference".
In Lightroom, how many steps can be recorded in the History panel with the defult setting? And how can we change the number of step to be recorded?

I guess since the history is kept in the database (and not only in memory as with PS), there is not so much an issue in limiting them.

  • User presets from history panel

    Hi there
I lost my hard drive and have reinstalled LR4 and relocated files to the external hard drive. I can see the user presets I used in the history panel but not in the User presets menu, is there any way to 'find' these to use again. I have looked but cannot find my User Presets anywhere.
    Thanks
    Nat

Thank you, that was the problem.  They were checked as stored with catalog in LR5, but not in LR6.  Once I clicked the checkbox in LR6, I found all my export user presets.  Now I assume that if I subsequently uncheck that box, LR6 will create a unique file to house those presets?  Does it matter if they are or are not in the catalog?  I've got a decent grasp of LR's functionality, but wasn't aware of this and don't know if there are pluses or minuses with either approach...

  • Aperture 3 - is there a history window?

I added some changes with the Dodge tool but wanted to remove it from a specific area. Is there a history tool like in Photoshop when I can backtrack my steps? (The undo command won't work as I need some of my adjustments).

    No
Just brush away the Dodge tool where you don't want it: Click on the eraser in the dodge HUD or hold the option key while brushing.
the History panel would be less flexible for this task.

Also click on the cog in the Dodge HUD and choose color overlay to see exactly where your stokes are.

  • I want to expand the size of the history panel

I just upgraded to v. 34 from v. 17.0.1. In the old version, I could open History as a full panel, and see the sites and dates in chronological order. Now, although I have the "View > By date and site" option selected, I see only the sites. Also, when I try to expand the size of the History panel by pausing the cursor over the edge, the double-arrow icon does nothing.

There is a minimum (min-width: 14em;) and maximum (max-width: 36em;) for the sidebar and you can't drag the resizer icon beyond that limit.
Add code to the <b>userChrome.css</b> file below the default @namespace line.

*Create the chrome folder (lowercase) in the <xxxxxxxx>.default profile folder if this folder doesn't exist
*Use a plain text editor like Notepad to create a (new) userChrome.css file in the chrome folder (file name is case sensitive)
*Paste the code in the userChrome.css file in the editor window
*Make sure that the userChrome.css file starts with the default @namespace line
*Make sure that you select "All files" and not "Text files" when you save the file via "Save file as" in the text editor as userChrome.css.<br>Otherwise Windows may add a hidden .txt file extension and you end up with a not working userChrome.css.txt file

  • How to remove "Blue filter" from multiple images in the History Panel

I am using Lightroom 4.3 on Windows 7 pc.  I have a collection with approximately 650 images.  I was working in the collection and had all the images selected.  Somehow I inadvertently must have hit a keyboard shortcut that effected all the images.  All of the images are negatively effected and they now look terrible.  When I go to the History Panel, all the images have "blue filter" as their most recent entry.  If I select one image and go back to the step before the "blue filter" everything looks fine  again.  My problem is I have this effect in 650 images.  When I try and do the change in one image and then synch to the rest, I don't know what box to check to remove this "blue filter" that has been added to all the images.  I know I can do them one by one, but with 650 images, it's a long and tedious process.  Any way I can remove the "blue filter" from multiple images in a collection?
    Thanks,
    Matthew Kraus

If you’ve just done it, then an Undo operation would reverse things on all the images, I think.  But if it took you a while to see the problem, then you might have done something to cancel the undoability.
Isn’t Blue Filter a built in LR preset that modifies the HSL settings:  http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/924/cpsid_92473.html
Open the HSL panel and step back into History on one of the affected images so the effect of the Blue Filter preset has been undone and notice what HSL sliders change, and then if the 650 images DON’T already have any HSL adjustments you should be able to sync JUST the pre-Blue-Filter HSL adjustments (perhaps all zeros) to the other 650 images.

  • Do the History Panel or Command menu record items work in code view?

I am using Dreamweaver CS6 version 12 on a 2.33 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo iMac running OS X 10.6.8.
When I attempt to use the History Panel or the Command menu items "Start Recordings" or "Play Recorded Commands" in code view they do not work. Can these tools be used in code view?

Well, I found Dreamweaver for Windows and Dreamweaver CC (which I assume is Creative Cloud) but I didn't find a Dreamweaver for Mac forum. The other two just didn't seem to be appropriate.
I find the forums difficult to navigate.

  • Time/Date stamp in History panel

It would be useful if Lightroom would show the entries in the history panel along with the date/time they were made. Then, I can see if I recently updated the file or if they are old edits. (yeah, I could look at the mod date on the xmp...)

+1 vote - as an option. It would look mighty busy if date/time was always shown for every little twist, but it would be useful for those times when you gotta wonder when these edits were made. XMP last-mod date is not very helpful since XMP can be is re-written even when nothing changes, and anyway dates don't accompany individual changes. Note: Export history items already include a date-timestamp. Might as well toss this option in for metadata changes too, although less important than for edit changes...

  • Question about using history panel

    Hi,
One thing in history panel keep me wonder all the time, "set the source for history brush". I to check the little brush on different steps, and I don't see any change to my image, so whats that for really ?

The History Brush paints with a past version of your document. You set which version you paint with using that function.

History is _NOT_ stored in the .xmp file...only settings and snapshots...so if you delete and re add an image you will indeed wipe history.

  • History panel opens in left side of window every time I open a Firefox session. How do I turn it OFF?

Windows forced a reboot while I had a Firefox window open with the History Panel (ctl+H) open on the left side of the window. Every since then, whenever I start Firefox, that history panel opens with it in the left side of the new window. How do I stop that?

  • Is there an history of were you've looked?

is there an history of albums you have looked at, found one but could not purchase it now can not find it.

iDVD can burn 120 minutes of media when using the Professional Quality setting with a single layer disc. However, you would need to create a Quicktime Movie from iPhoto and use it in the iDVD project.  I'd do it this way:
First get the number of slides you'll have and multiply by 6 seconds (personally I'd show them for 10 seconds to give viewers time to really see the image).  Then assemble your play list to be that length or maybe 5-10 seconds longer.
Create a slideshow in iPhoto (not the quick type from an album), add the music, enough for the number of slides x 6 xeconds and Export button at the bottom and choose the 640 x 480 size.
Then launch iDVD, select a theme and click on the + button at the bottom.  That will create a slideshow in iDVD. Double click on the ss button to open the slideshow window. Drag the QT movie file into the slideshow window.  This will allow you to use the option "Scale photos to TV safe area" so that none of the movie file is cut off on the TV screen.  You can have the TV safe area be shown on iDVD so you can see what I'm talking about.
Then save the project as a disk image when you're ready to burn - File ➙ Save as Disk Image.  Open/mount the disk image and play it with DVD Player. If the movie plays OK, the music is good, etc. you can burn the disk image to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed possible, 4x or slower.  It would be prudent to keep the theme to one of the simple ones.  If you want to have the movie start immediately when you insert the DVD into the player go to the Map mode and drag the movie into the blue bin at the far left of the window.  You can also have the movie loop if desired.

  • Is there a history of copy and paste?

    Hallo,
I lost a massage and copied it before... Now I surch for a possibility to restore it!
Is there a history of the copied stuff?
    greetings Johannes

It only "remembers" the currently copied file - so, if you have since used the copy function on something else (or shutdown/restarted the Mac), the previously copied file is gone (unless you pasted it somewhere of course).
