Is there a keybaord shortcut to disable the trackpad?

When typing on the built-in keyboard of the 13" MBP is is very difficult not to inadvertently touch the trackpad and end up typing at the wrong point of the text.
OK one can disable the trackpad in accessibility options when a mouse is connected but then one wants to be able to use both scrolling systems simultaneously of possible.  And anyway one often doesn't want to add a mouse just to disable the trackpad.
What would be highly useful is a keyboard shortcut to kill the trackpad, so you can re-enable it as and when needed.
Or if that is considered too risky then one that temporarily suspends the trackpad for say 15 seconds to allow you some thinking time while typing.
This would surely be a nice feature and one that would greatly enhance the user experience.
Surely it can't be beyond the wit of Apple to implement such a thing?
Or is there already a solution available?

I don't think so, you have to change it in the system preferences.  You can ask Apple to add this via

Is there a keyboard shortcut to open the presently open web page in another tab? It used to be Ctrl + N. This shortcut now opens a Tab with the home page instead of duplicating the web page I'm on.

Firefox has always opened new tabs in a blank page, so I'm guessing that the way you had it before was added by an extension.
If you to to Tools > Add-ons > Extensions, are there any extensions disabled?
In any case, you can still do this with a mouse shortcut. Hold down the Ctrl key as you drag a tab to an empty area on the tab bar.

First of all, an idle threat is one that a person has no intention of carrying out. In the past 16 months that I have had this phone I have become less and less satisfied and found that it is like much of today's technology....over rated and under performing. The one thing that I have never been accused of is not wanting, or not giving help but when a company makes itself unavailable to resolve issues and leaves it to forums run by users helping users, it speaks more about the company than anything else they could do. As I said, I do not make idle threats and I did not threaten you in any way. Guess I'll call this topic done with as it is not and was not the intent to get a war started

  • Is there anyway to suppress or disable the save as jpeg options dialog box on individiual images/pic

Is there anyway to suppress or disable the save as jpeg options dialog box on individiual images/pictures?

UI dialogs are an application setting, not a file property. Selectively suppressing them on a per-file basis is not possible, but you can of course create an action and suppress the dialogs...

There is no BIOS in OS X. There is only the EFI stored in ROM that is not user modifiable. OS X is probably checking Bay 0 for the boot drive since that is where it should be. It won't check the Tempo drive since it is treated like an external drive. I suggest you open Startup Disk preferences to see if the Tempo device is selected as the boot device. If it isn't, then select it. That will probably shave off a few seconds in the startup time.

    Hi Peace, Clyde,
Thanks for information. Using the API  UIApplicationUserDidTakeScreenhotNotification (iOS7)  send the notification after the screenshot taken.  Using this api is it possible to block the screen shot caputure option.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • There is any way to disable the shortcut with scroll in my Macbook?

I have a generic usb mouse and when I click with the scroll bottom the dashboard appears. I would like to know if there is a way to disable that.
PS: sorry about my english, I don't have so much experience with the language.

Then check in the Keyboard applet, Keyboard Shortcuts. Somehow it may of been assigned to the middle mouse button from there. you can just click on Restore Defaults as I have used several different mice with my Mac and never had this problems and IIRC I have never modified any of those settings. So returning to Defaults may fix it.

  • Is there a way to permanantly disable the F7 shortcut for cadet browsing?

I'd like to use the F7 button as a hotkey to play/pause my media player, however whenever I press it I get prompted about "cadet browsing". Checking the "Do not show me this dialogue box again" has no effect, it will continue to pop up.

In Firefox 3.6 and later versions you can disable the F7 shortcut that toggles caret browsing by setting the pref accessibility.browsewithcaret_shortcut.enabled to false on the about:config page if you do not want to use this feature.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut to open the previous page in a new tab that is right next to the current tab?

Let's say I'm currently on page X, and the previous page I came from was page Y. Is there a keyboard shortcut to open page Y in a new tab right next to the tab with page X?
Currently my only solution is to hold down cmd (for mac) and click the back arrow button, but again, I'm looking for a keyboard shortcut. I know CTRL + T opens up the same page in a tab right next to the current one, but I have to wait for it to load then press backspace to go back one page.

  • Is there a way to totally disable the music feature on an IPhone 4 running iOS 7.1?

    Hi all;
Is anyone aware of a way to totally disable the music player on an IPhone 4 running iOS 7.1?  I don't use the phone for music at all and don't want the music player draining the battery when the phone is paired via bluetooth to my 2012 Subaru Forester Premium (type "C" sound system) for phone calls.  Any guidance/advice most appreciated...thanks!
    Rick

Been awhile since I left iOS 7, but there's no such button in 8 either. Closest match would appear to be Frequent Locations.

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut to close the Application Frame in CS6 Mac? Mousing to menus or click on

Nothing works to close this window except mouse/clicking... I don't like it being in the background when I'm working in other apps.

I'm not a Mac user, so I don't have a way to check this myself, but what's the behavior when you do disable it via the setting, then open an image?  Does the image just open a window exactly the size of the displayed image?  I assume this is different than what you're looking to see.  Maybe a couple of screenshots would help others reading this thread (e.g., Adobe folks) to understand how you'd prefer it to work.
I think the intent is to make the default Photoshop behavior the same on a Mac as on a PC, and on a PC there's no way to eliminate the Application Frame at all.
