Is there a keyboard that works?

I run both Leopard and Windows on the iMac and I use both regularly. The keyboard issues are about to run me nuts! I am sorry but I love my big, natural microsoft keyboard. It works fine but of course no shortcuts work with the Apple side. I sold the wireless keyboard that came with it when AppleCare told me that it does now work with Windows. (I thought it was rather odd they didn't bother tell me that when I bought it!) If I get an Apple keyboard then none of the windows shortcuts will work. Has anyone found a solution?? I just want a keyboard that works with both and by that I mean the shortcuts work. The option, command, control all that works like it should. If they make the machine they should create the keyboard. --Frustrated

Just use the Microsoft keyboard that you like. There nothing wrong with that. The Mac mini is even sold with no keyboard and mouse so that new Windows-to-Mac switchers can use their existing keyboard and mouse. I use an old-style Apple ADB keyboard (through an ADB-USB adapter) because I like the feel of the keys. It has the standard extended layout and F-keys, which is all you need.
(I also use a inexpensive Microsoft optical mouse - two buttons and a scroll wheel. All you need.)
As for the keyboard shortcuts, the ones assigned to the F-keys still work. For example, pressing and holding the F12 key should eject the optical disc. A quick press of F12 is Dashboard. F9, F10, and F11 are the Exposé commands. You can set the F-key commands in System Preferences +Keyboard & Mouse+ pane +Keyboard Shortcuts+ tab.

  • Compatible Multi-Media Keyboards that work with LiveDock & Arc S

I've just bought a LiveDock and a Trust multimedia keyboard (model 15035-02, picture below) with a trackball mouse built-in to go with my new Arc S phone.  When you plug the USB dongle for the keyboard into the LiveDock, it sees it and comes up on the TV screen, but no cursor appears and no keys function on the keyboard.  I can't take the keyboard back because I will get charged a 20% restocking fee, but don't fancy buying any more, just to find they aren't compatible.
Is there a list of compatible multi-media keyboards that work with the LiveDock?  I bought the phone and the LiveDock primerily to use it next to the TV for odd browsing and would love a combined Keyboard and mouse to make it easier.
Could it be I've not configured something right?  Is there a menu I've missed?
    Cheers
    Steve

    Hi antonisk,
As I mentioned above, the Logitech K400 is superb for the job if you can purchase one.  It is light and really easy to use with the phone and LiveDock.
I think Sony Ericsson should be more specific on the website about what works with their LiveDock.  It should give at least a few compatible keyboards in the description and not just wait for people to buy the product and then spend time and money finding what will work with it.
They make great costly videos showing the customer that the LiveDock can be connected to a keyboard, mouse and games controller, but don't tell us which ones to go out and buy, if you want to take up this option.
I would have thought with these options being the main reason why the LiveDock was manufactured, that they would have spent a little time finding which devices actually work with it and not just waiting for people like myself to have to trawl the internet and worst still buy products that aren't compatible.

  • Is there a way to get idvd on a new macbook? or is there an alternative that works?

I note that my new macbook pro (purchased with a dvd burner specifically) no longer comes with iDVD preloaded. Is there a way to get this, or is there an alternative that works. have checked the app store only to see a number of 'alternatives' that are crucified by the feedback, largely not compatible with mountain lion, etc. This was really dissapointing, to get a new apple computer, still with imovie (great), but without the ability to create a dvd to  share movies with friends and family...any ideas?

There is no good replacement app for iDVD when it comes to ease of use, flexibilithy and professional looking results.
You'll have to purchase an iLife disc and should be aware that the iLife 11 disc only provides iDVD 5-7 themes.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • Is there anyone here that works for itunes support?

is there anyone here that works for itunes support?
I have waited for 39 hours for a response from support team with no reply.  I can get any of my credit cards to be accepted with itunes.  Somthing is wrong on apples side of things..been to apple store and they could not help either.  this is crappy.  I am one of the biggest apple fans but this is one side of apple that really *****.  CAN'T TALK TO A LIVE HUMAN FROM ITUNES?  Give me a break.

I agree completely endive!  I've been fighting for days trying to get some help with a technical problem and apparently, you can't get help from Apple without paying out the nose.  The problem I'm having is due to an update they recommended which I installed and now have no sound in itunes!
I too love Apple products.  I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, their customer service after the sale!  The are just as bad as Microsoft.

  • Is there a program that works like the old iPhoto?

Is there a program that works like the old iPhoto?
The old iPhoto is my ideal program. Unfortunately, it does not work on my new operating system. I like having the ability to look over my images with a slide show. However, the new package folder does not give me complete access to my pictures. Is there a program that will have both slide show with music options, and the general folder for the files? I heard that Picasa was supposed to have a general folder, but it is using the iPhoto package.
I have looked over the solutions to getting access to images from the iPhoto package mentioned in the discussion forum. I would like a simpler system that works like the old iPhoto. Is this a possibility? I do not feel comfortable putting my original photo files into a system that does not let me look at the file information, and I would like to have the original benefits of iPhoto tools.
    Thank you for your time.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
The current iPhoto is laid out specifically the way it is because of folks like you
Since iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Package File. This is simply a folder that looks like a file in the Finder. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
Even in the old iPhoto it was never correct to access the iPhoto Library Folder.
However, the new package folder does not give me complete access to my pictures.
This is untrue. Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
    There they all are.
Standard Warning which applies to every version of iPhoto: Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
I do not feel comfortable putting my original photo files into a system that does not let me look at the file information
What information are you missing? If you can tell us we may be able to help you more.
    Regards

  • Is there an app that works like the Mac OS X "finder" for iPhone?

Is there an app that works like the Mac OS X "finder" but to see files on the iPhone???

Apps on the iPhone are sandboxed. That means they only have access to their own files. They cannot see the files of other apps or of the system. This is for security reasons.
There are some apps that present a list of files, like Air Sharing, for you to manage, but there is nothing like the Finder.

  • Is there any form that works like Jtable that can be written into the html

Is there any form that works like Jtable that can be written into the html or jsp format?
    <INPUT TYPE="SUBMIT" NAME="command" VALUE=""> refer to a Sumbit Button.
There no such thing below "I think"but just dreaming
    Is there something like
    <INPUT TYPE="TABLESUBMIT" NAME="customer" VALUE={rowcolumn(1,3,"peter"),rowcolumn(last,"name","jane")}> ......

Keep dreaming. As long as you are using HTML you are stuck with
all of its limitations. Among these is the lack of a JTable.
    You have several options:
    1) Use an HTML <TABLE>. For plain text you just put the
text between <td></td> tags. For input you put the input
    as <td><input...></td>.
    2) Extend #1 by creating your own object to draw the table.
You can do this in either Java or JavaScript. There are several
examples on the internet of how to do this. Some even include
sorting by clicking the column headings.
    3) If you really want to use a JTable then you can write a JApplet
and put it on your JSP page.

my wife spent all day yesterday placing text into a book and formatting, etc. When she finished for the night she clicked on - File - save - instead of the save book button. Is it all gone or is there somewhere all that work can be recovered?

  • Keyboards that work with MACS?

    Hey,
Just wondering what everyone is using for a keyboard? I had a really cool SAITEK backlit keyboard for my PC, but ditched it when i got my IMAC. THey currently do not make a Mac version, so was wondering if anyone knows of some other cool keyboards, would be helpful......
    Thanks,
    JW

USB keyboards that are designed for Windows should work fine on a Mac, unless it has special buttons and controls that require a custom driver.
The following companies make nice Mac keyboards that I've tried out.
    Macally - http://www.macally.com/
    Kensington - http://us.kensington.com/html/5463.html
    Matias - http://matias.ca/products/index.php
    I'm sure there are others.
I use an old Apple ADB keyboard (Apple Extended Keyboard II) using an iMate adapter from Griffin Technology to go drom ADB to USB. I just like the feel.

  • Mouse/Keyboard that work on Macbook without extra USB plug

    Hello.
I just wonder are there any non-Apple Mice/Keyboards that do work with Macbook (mine is 5.5, OS X 10.8) out-of-the-box without any extra usb plugs required.
I dont care if they are genuine or some "custom-China" ones, if they are good for me I am in
Also, is there a way to understand if particular mouse/keyboard will work without the "extra-usb-plug" ? I have one old Bluetooth mouse here, and the macbook can't find her ...

    Research the information on Google.
I have one old Bluetooth mouse here, and the macbook can't find her
Could be any number of things.  The main ones are dying or dead mouse battery, system preferences not met & not compatible.  Post in the Bluetooth community for other suggestions.

  • I have a Hawaiian keyboard that works on every browser except Firefox. It used to work, but now it doesn't. So, I end up having to use Windows products when I would rather use Firefox.

I have a Keyman Desktop 7.1 Hawaiian keyboard that uses the Alt along with the corresponding letters to make the correct letters. It seems to be compatible with every browser except the one I want to use...Firefox.

  • Is there a software that works like Time Machine but for a PC

Hi I am a IT admin for a company in Atlanta, Ga. I use apple at the home and love it. I have several users at my company that can't seem to understand simple file structures. So they are constently deleting, moving and overwriting files on there system. A software like Time Machine would really help me out to recover thier mistakes. The only problem is that they work on windows XP systems. Is there a PC software out there that works like Time Machine?

After evaluating a number of backup software options for my corporate Dell d620 laptop (yes, unbelievably, my company doesn't offer an automatic backup of their users' machines!), I chose Second Copy for the following reasons:
    1. Different backup profile options (e.g., I have one that automatically backs up to the local LAN on a schedule and at shut-down when I'm in my office, a profile for manual backup to an external HD, and another profile for manual backup to my 4 GB USB flash drive). You can even backup remotely and trigger an email to a specified recipient when a backup is complete.
    2. The backup file structure is not proprietary or in a format differing from the original, thereby not requiring the original software to open the files and restore.
    3. Only backs up changed data, making it very quick each time.
    4. Simple to set up and use.
    5. $29
When working from my home office, I will often run a backup on my flash drive or external HD, transfer it to my Mac, and work from the 24" glossy-screened glory in favor of my tiny washed out Windows laptop display.
I realize this doesn't quite approach the no-brainer flexibility of Time Machine, but with a bit of thought, you could get your users automatically backing up to various locations on varying schedules and accomplish the same thing (i.e., automatically back up every day to their primary local LAN, back up every week to a secondary off-site location, etc.). Effectively, you could have daily and weekly backups to restore from, somewhat similar to Time Machine.
    Good luck!
    B.
