Is there a lens correction plugin?

Hi All,
I am looking for something Aperture related that has built in lens profiles similar to LR that can correct distortion quickly. I tried unsuccessfully to install the PTlens plugin three times. It simply doesn't work. Are there any other options that are decent?
Thanks for the help!

Did you install all three files in the correct locations as follows?
/Application folder:
PTLens.app
PTLensEdit.app
/Users/<YourLogin>/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins folder:
PTLens.ApertureEdit
Note - the user Library is hidden by default in OS X 10.7.x. If you press and hold the Option key while using the 'Go' menu in OS X menu bar, you will be able to select and navigate to the Library folder in the latter address above.
Unfortunately, with PTLens (or any other plug-in) - Aperture makes a TIFF (or PSD) master file to work on. I don't know of any program or plug-in that doesn't add to the workflow in Aperture for lens correctlion.
FWIW, I use DxO Optics Pro 7.5 for my kit lens, but I output in JPEG format and then import into Aperture. It works well for me, but is not necessarily for everyone.

  • Advice needed about lens correction plugin's for Aperture 2.1

Please can I have some advice about lens correction plugin's for Aperture 2.1?
I see that the Apple Aperture Downloads site promotes two:
    1)LensFix 4.3
An external editor. The Aperture Downloads site calls it Lens Fix 4.3 but when you go the developers site (Kekus Digital) it only shows LensFix CI is this the same thing? Am I supposed to download the PTLens database from epaperpress.com and install manually before it is any good?
    OR
    2)Edit FixLens 1.6
Their site looks very poorly designed and the link from the Apple page does not go to the Aperture plugin, you have to drill down until you find it! Does it use the exif data about your lens and the zoom setting it was on automatically or do you need to configure it each time?
Which one did you buy? Was it worth it?
    Thanks for your time!

LensFix CI is the same thing. It has the standalone version, the PS plug-in and the Aperture plug-in.
I've used LensFix via PS for a long time. It's great but... it can be a bit buggy if the image in use is 16-bit. Often it will work on the first image or two and then crash on the next.
I am told it's not compatible with PS CS4.
Another option is PTLens. It's also a PS plug-in and an Aperture plug-in. It's supposed to be CS4 compatible.
    http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/index.html
It uses the same database of lens corrections as LensFix.
FWIW, I've tended to do this kind of work in Photoshop, either round tripping an image in Aperture or exporting an image from Aperture. Since Aperture plug-ins are going to 16-bit Tiff files anyway and since most images (if they are final files for clients) need some more PS work, I just go that route.

  • Is there a lens correction profile for Nikon D3100 18-55mm?

Is there a lens correction profile for Nikon D3100 18-55mm? I so don't know what I'm doing

The only profile I could see is a profile for the 18 - 55 mm for the D300.
As far as I know the sensor size is identical for the D3100 and D300, so you can use this this profile.
If the profile is not installed in the list of your Lr, you have to download it. In order to download it you have to download and install the Adobe lens profile installer first.
And before you can install the lens profile downloader, you need to download and install Adobe Air.
These two programs are for free and can be downloaded from Adobe's website.

  • Is there a pitch correction plugin available for garageband?

Is there a pitch correction plugin available for garageband?

For the record, I've been using Melodyne in GB for a couple of years now and couldn't get along without it. Had a singer scheduled for four songs that I needed finished demos for in two days. He came recommended, but I'd never actually heard him. turns out he had a voice like Robert Preston, if Robert Preston couldn't carry a tune or keep time. I was facing total failure. But I went ahead and recorded him, warts and all and hoped Melodyne would be up to the task. I even recorded part of one song in B-flat because he was stronger in that key than in G, which is what my other singer had recorded in.
Melodyne turned four utterly unworkable, unusable tracks into decent representations. I was even able to engineer harmony lines that were never recorded. It gives you more editing ability for singing tracks than you get with midi notes.
    It's worth the price.

  • Are there different lens corrections for the new and old Nikkor 80-400mm lenses?

Is there a different lens correction for the new NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED lens and the older NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D lens? The model number box under profile correction seems to make no distinction so it is hard to tell if the right lens is selcted. This would also be important in filtering the lens used so a comparison could be made of the results between the old and new. The EXIF data seems to make no distinction either. The newer model is great!
    Thanks!

The newer lens is definitely supported - came in with Lr 5.0.

  • Is there a lens correction profile for the IPad Air 2 in LR available?

I would like to use the lens correction in LR on pics I took with my IPad Air 2.
    Is there a profile available?

There are no profiles available for any Apple iPads (There are a few for iPhones only).
I checked through the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader software and no profiles listed for Apple devices there either.
Your choices would be to wait and see if Adobe ever adds a profile or to create your own using the Adobe Lens Profile Creator .
See the profile list and link for the Lens Creator software here:

  • Lens correction for Nikon 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D VR

Is there a Lens correction for Nikon 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D VR?

Yes there are two user contributed profiles. You can download and use it using Adobe's lens profile downloader tool.
    Mac download: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5491
    Windows download: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5492
Don't own that lens so I cannot vouch for how good the profiles are but the one done on the D700 is probably the highest quality judging from the number of focal lengths included.

  • Lens correction profile (or planned) for Samyang 24mm f/3,5 TS?

    hi all,
Is there a lens correction profile (or planned) for Samyang 24mm f/3,5 TS?
    thank you for reply

I don't believe Adobe has provided lens profiles for any tilt-shift lens. There are simply too many possible combinations of settings that affect distortion and vignetting. In addition I believe this lens does not include the aperture setting in the image file EXIF data, which is required for proper correction of vignetting.
    You have two possible options:
    1) Use the Adobe Lens Profile Creator to create  lens profiles for each shooting aperture. You'll need to record or remember your shooting aperture to use them, since there is no 'Aperture' EXIF data. A separate lens profile will need to be created for each each shooting aperature, shift, and tilt setting combination that you will be using. I would try to keep the combinations to a minimum.
    2) Use the LR Lens Corrections> Manual> Distortion and Lens Vignetting controls to create Develop presets for specific lens aperture settings. When using the lens tilt or shift function you may also need to include a Graduated filter(s) with Exposure compensation, since the vignetting will not be symmetrical (i.e. light fall-off in direction of tilt & shift). Keep in mind that the lens distortion may also become assymetrical when using tilt or shift.
So you can see the complexity of trying to create a lens profile for tilt-shift lens.

  • Lens correction profile for Samyang 16mm f2

Is there a lens correction profile (or planned) for Samyang 16mm f2 lens - ideally for Canon 7D - please?
I'm trying to avoid having to create a profile from scratch.
    Thanks

I see that lens listed in the release notes for the final Lightroom 4.2 update that just came out a few hours ago, so it looks like the answer is to download the update.

  • Lens Correction Batch Application Not Working

Using LR3, I can set the lens correction then go to 'Develop Settings/Copy Settings' and the option is there for lens correction (I check all of the boxes under lens correction).  If I paste the settings to just one photo, the lens correction applies.  However, if I select multiple images to apply it to, it only applies it to the first image.  So now my fingers are worn out from applying it manually 275 times (with ctrl/shift/v then right arrow, repeat).
Please let me know if I am doing something wrong.
    TIA!!!
    Jesse

Thank you for the helpful suggestion Hamish!  I will keep that in mind as an option.
I did find a way to make the batch changes.
    1.  Click on the photo that you want to copy the settings from, then click the 'Copy' button.  A dialogue box will pop up to let you select what attributes you want to copy.  Select the attributes then click on copy in the dialogue box.
    2.  Highlight all of the other photos in the filmstrip that you want to apply these attributes to.  Be sure to include the photo you used to copy the attributes from, or this will not work.
    3.  Click the Sync button.

  • How can I find Nikon D800 in PS CS5 lens correction filter?

How can I find Nikon D800 in PS CS5 lens correction filter? I have version 12.0.4 and Camera Raw 6.7.0.339.

I see your question and wondered about it.
This is assuming that you know that in addition to the 18-55 issued with D3000's that there are other lenses in which to invest and with which to exploire.....
Using  a D800 and CC PS 14.2.1 x64 and latest Camera Raw  8.4.1.200 I opened the lens correction filters.
There are lens correction tools in Raw for which no body selection is offered, just lens types.  Which lens are you using?
In CC PS (Upgraded from PS5 or PS6 to CreativeCloud ("CC") PS with nice2 year discount offer from Adobe) there is a separate lens correction filter tool:
    Options/settings
    Manufacturer:  NIKON
Model Options do not include D800 at this time
(Options D3, D300s, D3X, D4, & D700) Only the D300s is a crop frame CCD here as opposed to full frame 3, 4, 700, or our 800s.  I would not set the model to any known crop frame (APS-C size CCD)
Searching adobe forums, it appears that camera body specific entries are only added for known problems.
Leaving the model set to Nikon (as opposed to all) allows for selection of specific lenses for a very broad gamut including grails like the OTUS.
I am guessing that there is no identified lens/camera-body specific peculiarity requiring a specific entry for the D800.  This is something to watch over time and possibly to ask Adobe Directly.
I am now piqued to know.

  • Fixed lens cameras - lens corrections

I am downloading raw files from my Canon G9 which has a fixed lens.  The Canon G9 is listed in Camera Raw.  Does Lightroom automatically make lens corrections when down loading?  If not what do I need to do to make the lens correction?
    Thanks.

Since there is no lens profile listed inside LR for your G9, either LR always makes lens corrections, or never does.
As just another user like you, I don’t have any inside knowledge to definitively answer your question, but I can make an educated guess that LR does not correct for distortions from the G9’s lens.  I say this because there are lens-correction profiles for newer models of the Powershot Gx series just not the older G9, and there is a community-supplied lens profile for the G9 available using Adobe’s lens-profile-downloader utility, to allow you to correct for the lack of profile.
The lens model I see is listed as Canon PowerShot G9 (7.4-44.4mm) and for raw files, only.  There are actually two profiles for the same lens contributed by two different users, where the number of sub-profiles differs, so one might give more accurate results than the other.
To download the lens-profile-downloader just go to http://www.adobe.com/ and search for the phrase lens profile downloader using the search box at the upper right.  The results will list an older 1.0 version from 2010 and a newer 1.0.1 version from 2012, so get the newer one.  It is an Adobe AIR app so you may also need to install Adobe AIR to get it to run.

  • Lens correction Canon G7X

The camera raw files have a built-in lens profile.
You can do further corrections if necessary using the Manual Tab under Lens Corrections in camera raw.

  • Lens correction and chromatic fringe - broken in CS5 ?

Hello, chromatic aberration correction has changed since CS3.
It's limited to ONE pixel correction, or what ? It seems i cant get strong cyan/red bands anymore, i used it as an artistic effect and i need it back. Any way to have it behave like before?  I'm not interested in manual workflow (moving manually RGB channels), thanks.
    Paolo

It definitely seems different between cs3 and cs5.
I don't believe there is a way to get the same effect in cs5's Filter>Lens Correction and it's
not broken just improved i guess.
You might try a pixel bender filter called Convergence (ships with pixel bender plugin) or Color Separation Effect
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/index.cfm?event=extensionDetail&loc=en_us&extid=2422 029
You would need to install the pixel bender plugin into photoshop cs5 from the bottom left of this page to use the above filters:
