Is there a Leopard Icon for your hard drive?

I'd love to customize my drive (cmd + i) with a nifty Leopard icon. Didn't find one by Googling. Can anyone point me to one?

One of the new improved features of Leopard's Preview application is that you can open a png and copy something that has a transparency, and the transparency is preserved. You can then paste onto a file or folder or disk. Try creating a folder, do GetInfo on the folder, and click the wee little icon at the top of the GetInfo window to select it, then paste. Some people are having a bit of trouble pasting new icons onto their startup drives, which is why I recommend trying with a folder first so you know that the copy/paste part is working.

  • Help with icon for external hard drive

I am in need of the AUTORUN.inf File for the toshiba 593400-E 320 Gb external hard drive.  I am missing the icon that shows up with the drive.

Just to clarify - when you run Disk Utility (in your Utilities folder) the drive you bought doesn't show up in the window under your boot drive?
If it appears on your desktop, you should see it in the Disk Utility window as this displays all mounted drives.
You then click on the drive (Mybook3.0 or whatever it appears as), and choose Erase from the options on the right.
    Best Wishes.

  • No icon for the Hard Drive on my desktop, new MacBook, i7

    Brand new MacBook, Core i7...
Right out of the box, there's no HD icon on my desktop(!) I did a clean reinstall & permission repair, but it's still not there. Is there something in System Preferences that I'm not finding?
    Suggestions?

    Jim,
Go to Finder, Preferences, General, select what you want on your desktop.
    Regards,

  • Icon for computer hard drive not showing on desktop

The subject says it. Other icons such as my external HD show up as well as files.
This is a new system -- I verified the disk and repaired permissions.
    Any ideas?

It's really very easy to bring it back...just go under the Finder menu to preferences under general and check the box to show Hard Disks on the desktop.
Even without the icon on the desktop, opening a Finder window show you your HD

  • How change icon of a Hard Drive?

I just bought an external Seagate HD for my iMac Intel and I'm running OSX 10.6.8.
I'm trying to change the icon to something more catchy than that bore yellow looking drive with the USB icon on it.
I used to be able to do this hitting CMD+I on both the image I was copying from and the HD I was going to paste it to...
    Until now,
It won't allow me to change the icon.
First, when I hit CMD+I on the image I wanna copy, it does not show the picture or the icon. It just looks like a little document.
Can anyone help me figure this out?
    Thank you

the way you change your hard dirve icon is:
first, you need to be the admin of the computer.
then, you click on the hard drive icon, the press <apple> (which is "get info")
at the top of the "get info" box is a small icon of the folder. you will use that later.
then, you select any icons you have, such as one's downloaded from the internet, for example, www.appple.com/downloads/macosx
if you want to use a picture for your icon, simply open the pic on preview, press <apple> <c> (copy) and then go to the "get info" window. you click on the small icon at the top of the window, and a small blue border appears arround it. thats good. then, press <apple> <v> (paste)
it is really simple to change your icon for your hard disk, you do not need any shareware or "ask dave."
    i hope this helped you.

  • How do you find the right replacement for a hard drive

i have a 2007 macbook and the hard drive just went out and i want to find a new one that would be combatible

    For a new hard drive try Newegg.com http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=380&name=Laptop-Hard-Dr ives&Order=PRICE
Or OWC for regular hard drives and SSDs  http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/
Here are instructions on replacing the hard drive in a MacBook with a removable battery. http://creativemac.digitalmedianet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=45088
After you put in your new hard disk put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window.
Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. You should see your hard drive in the left hand column along with your other drives. Click on the drive and select the Erase tab. Set the format value to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and click the Erase button. After that has finished select the Partition tab. Type in a Name for your hard drive and select how many partitions you want from the Volume Scheme. The usual setting is one partition. Click on the Options button after you've selected a partition to make sure it's set for GUID. Then click the Apply button and after the Partitioning is done quit Disk Utility.
You can now follow the instructions on the install screen

  • I just switched to Lion from SL, and am regretting it deeply, is there anyway to switch back to SL but still keep lion on your hard drive until you want it again?

I just switched to Lion from SL, and am regretting it deeply, is there anyway to switch back to SL but still keep lion on your hard drive until you want it again?
I hate to have paid for it and have it go away. Help please!

Start by creating a second partition on your hard drive:
To resize the drive do the following:
    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
After the main menu appears select Disk Utility and click on the Continue button. Select the hard drive's main entry then click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    2. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
    3. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for each partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and move the bottom of the rectangle upwards until you have reduced the existing partition enough to create the desired new volume's size. The space below the resized partition will appear gray. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.  (Note: You can only make a partition smaller in order to create new free space.)
    4. Click on the [+] button below the sizing window to add a new partition in the gray space you freed up. Give the new volume a name, if you wish, then click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
You should now have a new volume on the drive.
It would be wise to have a backup of your current system as resizing is not necessarily free of risk for data loss.  Your drive must have sufficient contiguous free space for this process to work.
Install Snow Leopard on the new partition:
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Be sure to choose your new partition as the target destination.
Download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 update. Any additional updates can be installed using Software Update.

how can i get ios 7 in my ipad 2? i have tried to update it but in my setting>general there is no icon for software update.so help me please!

If you are using iOS 4 (or earlier) there is no Software Update in Settings. That feature was first added in iOS 5.
To update you will have to connect your iPad to iTunes on a computer (preferably the one you sync with and backup to).

  • Searching your hard drive for a phrase in a FM document?

    Hi there,
I seem to recall a Search tool that allowed you to search through your hard drive or a particular folder for a particular document that contained a specific phrase.  Has anyone heard of this?   It could just be wishful thinking on my part ...
We have hundreds of manuals created in FM and I need to look for a particular manual that contains a specific phrase - is there anything out there that would help me do this?
I am currently working with FM8 on Windows XP ...
    Thank you,
    Tina

    Hello Tina,
If all the FM documents you need to search through are in PDF and you have Acrobat Pro, I may have a solution for you. I recently built a searchable database of hundreds of FM docs by creating a Portfolio. Basically you combine all PDF versions of the FM files into one PDF portfolio; then use the search feature which will provide search results hyperlinks to the pages where your search term was found. You can do advanced searches to narrow down your results.
In older versions of Acrobat, this capability is available as File>Create PDF>From Multiple Files. If needed, you can further organize your files in folders. Portfolio also allows you to browse through thumbnails of you files (sort of like the iTunes interface).

how do i view photos from icloud on my PC, there is no icon for that purpose

If you have Outlook 2007 or higher on your PC, you can print your iCloud calendar from within Outlook.  If you don't, and are accessing it on icloud.com, about all you can do is take a screenshot using your print screen key and print the image.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
iTunes match won't automatically remove content from your computer, if you want to do that you will need to do it manually yourself.

It is safe to download if your phone is not jailbroken. Before you download it, however, take some precautions:
    Reboot your computer
    Disable your antivirus and firewall
Connect the phone cable to a USB port directly on the computer, not a hub
Before updating right click on the name of the phone in iTunes and choose "Backup"
When you are given the choice choose "Download only", not "Download and Update"
After the download completes successfully click the Update button to install it.
Most of these steps are just being overly cautious, as most people ignore them and have no problems. But occasionally the extra steps save grief.

Hi, your wording isn't quite clear to me.  Does everything actually work?  The "No notifications..." message is simply telling you that your stuff is up to date.
