Is there a Lightning to Lightning cable ?

I have a charger with a lightning connection, but the phone case that my spouse uses prevents setting the iPhone5 on top of it.  I need a cable with a female lightning jack to a male lightning plug (and the male plug can't be any larger than the normal charger plug).  Searches in Apple, Amazon, Google, etc, have not yielded any direct Lightning to Lightning cable.  Am I looking for the correct cable / using the correct terminology (I saw something called thunderbolt with a female side, but couldn't tell if it pairs up with lightning) ?

i did the google on your behalf

    Axel,
I'm afraid a new SSD won't be different from your bad USB stick. I had similar issues over USB with both a (no-brand) stick and TWO 64gb Kingston SSDNow's (running Kubuntu 12.04 with Kernel 3.11, ia_64): it all runs exceptionally well (wanna know how it feels like booting in 5 sec?) for a few days - then suddenly you find yourself facing that dreaded (initramfs) prompt. You ask yourself: why? Did I upgrade grub lately? Did I upgrade the Kernel? I don't recall so. Ok, let's fix this... insert favorite live cd, boot, fsck...what???? THOUSANDS of errors??? Hundreds of files and directories corrupted, and the system is unusable - Reinstall everything from scratch onto another drive.
Rinse and repeat: did this 3 times. Then I found this analysis:
    http://lkcl.net/reports/ssd_analysis.html
I also suspect USB power interrupts more abruptly than SATA power, at shutdown - basically aggravating any power interruption damages. So now I'm going to:
    - buy an Intel S3500!
    - add commit=1 to my mount options in /etc/fstab
    - edit shutdown procedure to add a 5-10 sec pause after unmounting drives.
    Just my two cents.
    Andrea

  • I need a lightning to lightning extention cable for my lightning digital a/v adaptor

Why doesn't apple make a certified lightning to lightning extention cable?  Not just a longer lightning to USB cable like they have on their site. Need to extend the reach of my lightning digital a/v adaptor. I know there are 3rd party foreign versions but I would rather not risk my money or devices on cables that don't work or are dangerous.

Google lightning connector to 30 pin connector and see how many hits you get.

  • What is the exact technical difference between "Lightning to USB Camera Adapter" and "Lightning to USB Cable"

Mainly I am interested in attaching the iPhone to a receiver (or car etc.) to play music.
Both the "Lightning to USB Cable" and the "Lightning to USB Camera Adapter" seem to do the trick. So what is the exact technical difference between the two items?
When connected to a receiver, is the iPhone the USB Master in both cases? Is the USB "Audio Device Class" standard used to transmit audio?

Thanks for all the answers! I think I should specify the use case much more clearly. Sorry for not having done this earlier.
    Use Case 1:
When I connect the iPhone to the receiver I can use the Lightning to USB, because the receiver has a female type A, just like e.g. a PC or like the charger. So I would agree that the Receiver must be the USB host, and the iPhone the USB device. This works just fine in my case, with iPhone and iPad.
In this case, the audio goes from the device to the host, or "Audio-in".
    Use Case 2:
A friend of mine has a small device that converts USB to Toslink. This thing has a female Mini USB Type A, which is typically used at the receiving side of a USB connection. This device can be connected e.g. to a Mac, and then the Mac can output audio via this device to receiver which accepts optical Toslink signals.
In this case, the audio goes from the host to the device, or "Audio-out".
It is this use case 2 that I am unsure about:
    a) Can the Lightning to USB cable be used in this case (assuming that I find the necessary non-standard adapters to actually connect the USB ports)? This would mean that the iPhone can act as a USB host with the Lightning to USB cable.
    b) I know that the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter does convert the iPad into an USB host, otherwise it could not read data from a camera. So could this adapter also be used to produce "Audio out" to a USB device that supports receiving music?
If yes, would this also work with an iPhone (as pointed out in another answer, the iPhone does nor support reading pictures from a camera)?

  • Incase Dual Car USB Charger with Lightning to USB Cable

    Hi,
I just buy this item and it seems that the item is not working...
    What can i do?
Incase Dual Car USB Charger with Lightning to USB Cable
    $39.95
    Yakir

    jddj,
If the charger uses the firewire pins (even though it uses a USB cable) to charge in the car it won't charge the iPhone 3G.
The iPhone 3G supports charging and syncing over USB only, the original iPhone supported charging over firewire in addition.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • My Lightning to USB Cables can not work

    Hi,
I brought an Ipad Air about 2 weeks ago. And today only to find the Lightning to USB Cables can not work. Can I get help from you?

I can't help you, but if your cables don't work, you can visit your local Apple Store, and they'll likely give you free replacements. (That happened with my iPad Mini.)

  • Lightning to Lightning adaptor?

I recently purchased a USB to Lightning adaptor but the thickness of the iPad cover prevents me from being able to plug it in. I don't want to have to take the iPad out of it's cover every time I wish to use the adaptor so I was wondering if anyone knows of some sort of Lightning to Lightning adaptor I could use which may assist?
    THANKS

But I think you will have the same issue. The problem is your cover, not the Lightning cable.

  • Is there a usb 3.0 cable for iPods?

I was wondering if there are USB 3.0 cables for iPods. Any feedback would be great

No. Apple only sells one cable for the iDevices.
The iDevices will work with a USB port but it will be not faster than a USB 2 port.

  • HT5498 Is this information still valid after one and a half years? Are the lightning-to-HDMI or lightning-to-VGA cables the only available options to send video to a TV set?

There is a relative using an iPhone 5s and is interested in streaming video from her iPhone to an old TV set; unfortunately the TV set does not have either HDMI or VGA connectors; therefore we figured out getting a "lightning-to-30 Pin adapter", plug it to the iPhone 5s and use an old "Composite AV Cable" to do the trick. However, I found this post informing video streaming is not possible through the "lightning-to-30 Pin adapter", but -considering its post date- I would like to know if that info is still valid or if something has changed since then. Obviously changing the TV set is not an option, we have a limited "budget" to solve this.

Thanks for the feedback Rudegar. We're not planning using airplay mirroring using AppleTV, but directly as it used to work with old iPhone 4S. Just attaching the composite video cable (30pin-to-Composite) to the iPhone 4 worked on almost any TV set equipped with composite jacks. Maybe I have to rewrite the question to "...available wired options to send video to a TV set?"

  • Is there aproblem with the lightning connector on the iPhone 5

Is there a problem with the lightning port on the iPhone 5

I would like to know as well.  My iPhone5 has informed me that the cable is not approved (but both the cable and power adaptor came with the iPhone5 itself) and it often just fails to charge the phone at all

  • Core MIDI from iPad Mini to Mac via lightning USB charging cable

I want to use some of my Core MIDI compatible iPad Apps to control Logic Pro and other DAWs on my MacBook Pro via USB (Core MIDI over WiFi has unmanageable latency issues).
I read on various forums that it is possible to use Core MIDI via USB using the Apple Camera Connection Kit or Lightning to Mini USB adapter, but doesn't this simply work with the included Lightning to USB charging cable?

Image Capture is a built-in program and should be in your Applications folder, Aperture I bought from the Mac App Store.
For Simple Transfer it's an iPad app, so you would download it on your iPad from the app store.

  • Apple Lightning Charge/Sync Cable Fails

This past summer my school purchased and we implimented 1,200 brand new iPad 4's. Since then, we have probably had a 20% failure rate on the cables. This is extremely frustrating. My frustration drove me to try to find the issue.  I decided to open a few of them up and see what's going on with them. I was very surprised to see that cables that quit working all had the exact same issue (unless extreme physical damage). The Redish-Brown wire inside the cable was broken about 1cm below the bottom of the lightning adapter. Some of these cables even appear to have burn residue at the break point of the wire.
    My questions:
Is anyone else having these issues?
Shouldn't it be a recall on the cables? It's ALWAYS the same wire, unless extreme physcial damage.
Again, shouldn't it be a recall, at least as a fire hazard?
These cables are too expensive to replace.... Apple's education discount does so much for us (obviously sarcasm).

    Thanks for the responses...
We have actually began replacing the broken cables with the one available from Monoprice.com, they are significantly cheaper as well as certified by apple (see the link below).
My issue with apple is that because the cable looks worn, they will most likely not replace it under manufacturer warranty, correct?
My other issue with apple is that it seems to be a HUGE fire hazard, and it's odd that it's the same color wire that's broken in each cable. Thanks for the feedback link; I will be filling it out!

  • I have a problem with my lightning to hdmi cable

    Hi
Right i bought this cable for use in my car
There is nothing wrong with it works perfect in the tv
They problem I'm having is I don't have a head unit I'm using a pre amp along with my other amplifiers
So I just need an audio signal
I don't want to use the jack as I'm going to be mounting an iPad mini in the dash (hence no head unit)
The problem that I am having is when it's plugged in there is no power on the other end of the hdmi cable as I had a cable that at one end is hdmi and it spilts it to the red blue and green cables what I'm using for audio now if would work fine but because there is no signal coming from the preamp up the audi cables the phone/iPad doesn't think it's plugged in so just plays though the handset speaker
Is there any way to force it to play though the hdmi
Or will I need to buy a powered hdmi to audio convert like a powered little box ?
    Thank you
http://bit.ly/1kReuQ1 this is the currant cable
    I'm trying to use
http://bit.ly/QlrmzT would this work if the lead doesn't as it's powered

Then it's likely that you have a hardware issue on your hands. Follow the three r's:
    1. Restart: Turn it off and then on again
    2. Reset: Hold down the home and power button until the apple logo appears
    3. Restore: Connect the device to iTunes and restore it as new. Test the issue and see if it persists.
Don't forget to back up before you restore, so you can keep your data.
If the three r's don't work to solve your issue, you will need to get your phone repaired. To do this, you can go into the apple store or call 1-800-275-2273.
