Is there a Lightning to thunderbolt adapter?

Hi Faster77,
Welcome to the Support Communities!
The article below explains that Thunderbolt cables and adapters are for Macs.
If you want to project content on your iPad to your Mac or TV, you would use Airplay.

  • Lightning to Ethernet adapter. Prevent children exposure to EMR

    Hi,
Is there a Lightning to Ethernet adapter available?
If so, great, where do I get one?
The reason I'm after this is that there is a lack of information on the long term effects of EMR (Electromagnetic Radiation) which is produced when data is transferred over WiFi.
Children are thought to be more vulnerable to wireless radiation because their bodies and brains are still growing and developing and they absorb more radiation than adults. As a result, many authorities have advised reducing children’s exposure to WiFi radiation.
Some European nations have banned WiFi in schools until it can be proven as 100% safe for the long term.
A Lightning to Ethernet adapter would allow our children to safely use iPads without the risk of exposure to EMR by connecting to the network with an ethernet cable.
    Some background info here:

    Best Regards.

I'm close to half your age and was also out all day when I was a child/teen. But unfortunately life is not as simple these days. Society has evolved and we're a lot more informed.
In my opinion your skinned knee analogy kind of misses the point. That's something we've all been through and the result is a known and temporary inconvenience. But I am glad to hear you survived your recent experience...
Young children are not 77. They have a lot more developing to do and a lot longer to live. Over their lifespan they will be exposed to more of these technologies than you or I in our lifespan.
Now, I use WiFi all the time and I seem fine so it must be safe for everyone at all levels, right?
In the past it was totally acceptable to smoke cigarettes in a car full of children. These days... Not so acceptable. Most people have come to their senses.
You've seen a lot of change in your life and in that time there have been lots of 'safe' products/practices/technologies that turned out to not be so safe after all.
I’m no scientist but considering that the bone density of young children is lower than adults, it's probable that more EMR will penetrate their tissue as compared to adults.
The long term developmental and neurological effects cannot yet be known so no one can state that there is no effect. More than likely they’ll be fine, but as a parent I need to consider the possibility and try to make smart decisions. It seems logical that excessive exposure could be a bad thing.
With four iPads in my house I'm not aiming to ban WiFi, however usage is limited. iPad technology is a game changer full of potential but is there any harm in trying to minimise a child's exposure while they use their iPad?

  • Will there be a composite av adapter for the lightning plug

They have the composite av adapter for the 30 pin connectors so you can hook the older phones to a TV with the yellow, red and white cables.
Will they come out with one for the lightning?
Or is is best to use the lightning to hdmi and get a hdmi to composite cable if they are available

The best solution I've found so far is using an Apple Lightning Digital AV Adapter -> HDMI cable -> Mini HDMI2AV Converter -> AV composite cables. I haven't used it myself but people over at the MacRumors forum have reporeted success.

  • Lightning to VGA Adapter not working with certain apps

I've recently noticed that I can't watch movies on Netlix any more with my Lightning to VGA Adapter going to an LCD monitor.  It works just fine with other apps just not Netflix.  Apple says it is a Netflix app problem, and Netlix doesn't want to admit it's anything wrong with their app.  Any one else have this problem?  Is there a solution?

  • Lightning to vga adapter not working after ios 7 update

After I installed ios 7 on my iphone and ipad, lightning to vga adapter A1439 stopped working on both machines. I thought that the first update would solve this problem. However, I recently installed 7.0.3 update but both machines still can not see the adapter. I tried adapter on different ios 6 machines and it works just fine.
Will there be an update for this issue? Did you have the same problem?

  • IPad 4 lightning to vga adapter, works but gets stuck in video out mode. I can't get it to switch back to mirroring without restarting it

I have an iPad 4 with an Apple lightning to vga adapter. (A1439)
It connects fine to my HDTV and projector for doing presentations and video etc.
But if I do show any video on it, e.g. full screen a video from within Chrome, Safari, the apps for Youtube etc.
or if I do a presentation using Keynote, it locks into working as an extended second screen.
It shows the controls for the video on the iPad and the video on the external screen, which is what I would expect. But then if I exit the video or complete the presentation, the external screen continues to show the last frame of the video or presentation. Even if I close the app.
I can't get back to using it in mirroring mode without shutting it down and restarting.
Surely I am just missing something.
I've tried force closing the apps that I use, switching between them, starting up new ones etc.
    But no luck.
There doesn't seem to be a setting anywhere that I can change.
    Any suggestions?

The same thing happened to me. After the big update, I also experienced exactly what you described. I ended up restoring the ipad a number of times.
The first few times, I restored from a back-up. The last few times I have restored the ipad as new. It would work the next few times I turned the machine on, and around the third time, it would lapse back into the recovery mode, with
the image of the serial cord connecting to an i-tunes logo on its desktop. This morning, I restored the ipad as new, but only allowed the apps manufactured by Apple to be synced back onto the ipad. I have powered it back on about three times, and so far, so good. I am waiting to see what happens the next few times I turn the machine on.
I had a very helpful senior Apple express advisor help me on Sunday to do the restore as a new ipad procedure. He said that if that did not work, the next step was having it serviced. He also mentioned that often the third party apps have problems due to getting corrupt and this often happens after a major update. That is why I thought i'd try and see what would happen if I only synced the Apple apps back onto the ipad.
It is not good though if I can't put third party applications on it without having the problem of lapsing into recovery mode, so I may have to get it serviced. I am wondering how many others have had this problem after the big update last week? Also, has anyone who was an early purchaser and got the flat-rate unlimited data plan subscription from AT&T, had to have their ipad replaced? Was there a problem with AT& T still allowing you to continue your special subscription plan?

  • Connectiong an external thunderbolt hard drive to an older iMac via firewire to thunderbolt adapter, as my Mac doesn't have any thunderbolt entry?

Is there a possibility to connect an external thunderbolt hard drive to my iMac (originally Leopard 10.5.8. upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.3) via firewire to thunderbolt adapter, as my Mac doesn't have any thunderbolt, but has two firewire entries?
Would like to use the hard drive's big data stocking capacity of 8TB, but actual WD-HDDs of such a capacity have no more other entries than thunderbolt.

Basically, no.  The Thunderbolt-Firewire adapter does not work "in reverse,"  meaning, you have to have a Thunderbolt port on your Mac in order to use it.
Most Thunderbolt drives that I have seen also have a USB 3 port.  You could use that, but on on an older Mac that does not have a USB 3 port you will be limited to USB 2 speeds.

  • My MBP recently started logging itself out.  I narrowed the problem to the external monitor which is connected with a Thunderbolt adapter. When I disconnected it, the problem went away.

My early 2011 MBP laptop (OS Yosemite 10.2.2) recently started logging itself out.  I narrowed the problem to the external monitor which is connected with a Thunderbolt adapter. I installed Thunderbolt firmware update 1.2, that did not correct the problem. When I disconnect the external monitor, the problem went away. Is there something I can do to be able to use the external monitor again?

    Try Function F1

  • Thunderbolt adapter for macbook pro pre 2011?

    Hello,
I have a macbook pro bought in 2009.
There is a shared Thunderbolt display in my studio that I would like to use can I buy an adapter for my cinema screen port so I can use the Thunderbolt?
If not is there an adapter planned by apple?
    Thanks

Your MBP does not have Thunderbolt capability and there is no adapter for that technology.  You will not be able to connect to that display.  Note, this is taken from the Thunderbolt display specifications in the Apple online store:
    Ciao.

  • Lightning to SD adapter supportet RAW formats?

    Hi there!
The Lightning to SD adapter product page states that "The Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader supports standard photo formats, including JPEG and RAW".
However, I'm concerned that the RAW formats I shoot in might not be a "standard photo format" by Apples reading.
Is there a list of formats that actually are supported anywhere?
    Kind regards
      Steffen

    It's not compatible with iPhone.

  • HT4106 Lightning to USB adapter.

Lightning to USB adapter. When I plug into iPad mini with nothing attached to it I still get that error message it is drawing to much power. Why?

Yes it is the Apple lightning to USB adapter --formally the CCK adapter. I havnt used it in about a year and I took it out and tried using it again. The weird thing is I just plug in the adapter itself with nothing attached to the USB port and I get the power message. I have updated bot my iPads and iphone to the latest software. i just wonder if Apple forgot to allow this device to work or there is a mismatch of software on the device.
I Was using it with a usb dac for music and it was perfect last year.
i Also have the lightning to hdmi out and that works just fine on all my pads and phone And that to has been sitting for a while.

  • Firewire- Thunderbolt adapter?

Is there a Firewire->Thunderbolt adapter available for the MacBook Pro 17"?
Is there a Firewire->Thunderbolt adapter available for the MacBook Pro 17" or do I have to buy one of those ungainly box things?

The first post says he has a MacBook Pro, and mentioned iMac later, but both do, and you're still right.

  • Is there a firewire to HDMI adapter for IPAD 4?

Is there a firewire to HDMI adapter for IPAD 4?

It's called the "Lightning" connector. Here is the adapter you need:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter
The Lightning Digital AV Adapter mirrors exactly what you see on your device so that everyone in the room can enjoy it on your widescreen TV, video projection screen, or other HDMI-compatible display. The Lightning Digital AV Adapter also supports video out for watching movies, TV shows, and more.
You can also stream wirelessly using AirPlay but that requires Apple TV. Streaming music or other audio requires an AirPort Express or compatible device.

  • No sound from Apogee Jam with iPad mini and Lightning-30 pin adapter

    Hello everybody.
I'm trying to use my Apogee Jam with iPad mini but I am unable to hear any sound from it. Jam seems to work, since the led become green and react to the guitar signal. I tried two different guitars and different cables but nothing changes. Jam also works perfectly on MacBook Pro and garage Band, so I first assumed the issue was in the iPad or in the Lightning-30 pin adapter (genuine).
Oddly on AmpliTube I can tune the guitar, so some signal arrives to the iPad, but I can't do the same on JamUp, where the tuner seems not to reiceve any signal. Are there some settings I should check on the apps?
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Make sure you have the monitor input turned on in GarageBand. http://youtu.be/Eb8bN3tExio
