Is there a limit to the # of Channels that can be registered w/a Selector?

An article on JavaWorld.com (http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-09-2001/jw-0907-merlin-p4.html) mentions an upper limit of 63 Channels registered per Selector. I've been searching the docs and this is the only reference I've found for this limit. Can anyone confirm it?
Thanks!
--Mark

So, it's a Win32 problem that doesn't occur on Linux. Many thanks for the info!

  • Is there any limit on Number of items that can be created in SBO2005B

Is there any limit on Number of items that can be created in SAP Business One 2005B.
We are working for button manufacturer.
Each button will have type, color, size, thickness.
There are about 100 types, 40 colors, 30 sizes, 10 thickness, 500 models.
It looks to be approximately above 30lacs item codes has to be created.
Is there any performance issues or any other known issues towards the large item lists.

    Hi,
There is no real limit on the number of items you can create (well, the item code is a 20 character key so theoretically the limit is the total number of possible combinations of letters and characters in that key).
Performance can be an issue with a large inventory, as well as database size (particularly if you have a large inventory and a large number of warehouses). Some issues such as the speed of lookups can be avoided by changing system settings but other issues such as the speed of inventory reports are inevitable going to take longer for larger inventories.
Have you done any research on looking for SBO addons for the clothing industry? It might be worth searching the CPSN for such addons (ie ones that can deal with sizes, colours etc) as these may help greatly in keeping the number of stock items down to a minimum.
    Kind Regards,
    Owen

  • Is there a limit to the number of addresses can I put into a group of multiple users in my address book?

I have just started using Thunderbird and want to set up a number of list groups in my Address Book so that I can simply click on the list name and the email goes to multiple people.
Is there a limit to the number of addresses that I can put into each group? Or, can I put as many addresses into each group as I want to? Thanks for your answer.

    Thunderbird has no limit.

  • Is there a limit to the # of users u can add?

I want to have about 400 users in BPC..Right now i have about 200...is there a limit to how many people I can add? Thanks.

There might be a licensing limit if it's BPC Edge (I'm not sure), but in standard BPC, no there is no limit.
However, you have to keep system performance in mind. having lots of users will mean larger tables, for one thing. Probably no big deal there. But more importantly, you have to consider the concurency... How many users will be accessing BPC at the same time? Depending on this, you might need to resize the system... A good rule of thumb is to have no more than 50 to 75 concurrent users per web/app server. This number will vary depending on typical usage of course.

  • Is there a limit to how many AExp that can be streamed to at once?

    Hi Guys and Girls
Have been looking at the Sonos system for a while now but I wonder if multiple AE would be a cheaper alternative?
Is there a limit to how many Airport Express units can be streamed to at once? The house is quite large and I would like to have about 8 AExpress with powered speakers attached and play the same music to them all at once... I seem to remember reading somewhere that it is limited to 3 but it wasn't an Apple website and I can't find any official information regarding limits!
    Any help?

    Bob - thanks for advice.
Back to revisiting this issue after trying to address some other things.
I added as an html article but that didn't resolve the problem. In a browser the html renders left aligned. In DPS I am able to swipe to the previous article, but not the next. Not sure if DPS is interpreting that there is more content to the right (even though it is actually dead space beyond my 768px width target.
From another discussion thread it seems to be a jQuery issue. Not sure if there is a jQuery function I can drop into Muse or exported files that will resolve this. I posted my question there as well, but it is an older thread.
The other question/assumption I had was...I assume that when I add as HTML article all my interaction has to be handled in the HTML because it essentially bypasses InDesign an the ability to use DPS overlays.

  • I want to set up a TC in bridge mode in a large network. Is it possible to limit define the users/Macs that can see the TC?

There are many Macs in the network, but only a few are supposed to use the TC. Is there a way to hide a TC from the other users?
We also have an Open Directory server. Those users that are allowed to use the TC are also in the OD (i.e. the users managed by the OD). Is it possible to configure the Time Capsule in a way that it requires a login via OD?

Is there a way to hide a TC from the other users?
Not unless you want to try to use the option to "hide" the wireless network that the TC provides.....assuming that you are asking about wireless connections here, not Ethernet.
Users who know the name of the wireless network and wireless password will be able to connect. The others won't.
"Hidden" networks do not always work as well as you might expect, but it might be worth a a try.
You might also want to take a look at the Timed Access feature in AirPort Utility.  Here, you can specify which Macs will be allowed to connect to the TC wireless network and which will not.  Other Macs might be able to "see" the network, and they could even have the password,  but they will not be able to connect unless you have set up a rule to allow that specific device to connect.
Is it possible to configure the Time Capsule in a way that it requires a login via OD?
    None that I know of.

  • Is there a limit to amount of code that can be added to the HTML Header?

I've got several javascript functions in the HTML Header section of the page attributes. I recently added another function and now receive an HTTP 404 Not Found error at runtime when navigating to the page. When I remove the function the error is gone. I don't think there is anything wrong with the function because even when I copy and rename an existing working function, this error occurs...as if I've exceeded some size limit. Any ideas?

I now have a better understanding after reading this thread: Javascript as static file or on filesystem?
As the post indicates, there are essentially two ways of including a .js file:
    1) upload as static file to the workspace or application and refer to it using the #APP_IMAGES# or #WORKSPACE_IMAGES# tag.
    2) put it on the webserver as a file on the filesystem under the images directory and refer to it using the #IMAGE_PREFIX# tag.
For now (since I don't have permissions to the file server directory) I have created a .js file and uploaded it as a static file in Shared Components. I referenced the file as below, but when I go the page at runtime, none of my functions are being utilized. Is it because the web server is not using this static file yet because of caching? Does it need to be restarted in order to start using the uploaded js file?
    <script type="text/javascript" src="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#apex_selection_criteria_page.js">
    </script>

  • Is there a limit to the #of appsets one can make?

Right now I have two 2 Appsets and 3 applications on my production server. If I add 2 more appsets...will there be an issue?

    Hi,
There is no specific limitation but please don't forget to increase value of Threadpool\Query\MaxThreads parameter of Analysis Services.
The default value of this property should be twice the number of CPU cores + Number of Analysis Service Databases.
    Example) if user has 4 dual core CPU and has 5 analysis databases. It will become 21.  (21 = 2 X 4 CPU X 2(dual core) + 5)
    Thanks.

  • Is there a limit on number of columns that can be used to build a form?

I am building a form, which has about 180 columns. When I added more columns, it can be compiled, but not able to re-open it to edit. Got "Internal Error " or "The request had invalid syntax" such kind of error message.

You should probably post this question in the Oracle Forms forum for an appropriate response/comment on your question: Forms

  • Is there a limit on Channel that can be added to selector

I have read in an old document on javaworld that there is a limit of 63 channels that can be registered with a Selector. I assume I can create multiple Selecors, if I have to manage more than 63 channels and try to select on each one after the other.
However, I still want to know whether this limit is there as I did NOT see it in any NIO documentaion.
I quote from the below article -
"Fourth, a selector can have only 63 channels registered, which is probably not a big deal. "

This was a Windows-only limit in JDK 1.4.0. If you are not on Windows, or are in 1.4.1 or later, there is no limitation.

  • Is there a limit to the number of email addresses in one message?

    Hello
Is there a limit to the number of email addresses in one message with Mac Mail?
I am trying to send out to c900 email addys and am being told my server does not recognise the email addresses. I will check with the folks hosting the email also.
    Many thanks
    Matthew Causon

Ooh, yes, 900 emails at once will absolutely not work (unless you get very very lucky).
If this is just a one-off, you should group the addresses into, at the very most, 50 addresses, and send batches. If you're doing this a lot, I would recommend using something like DirectMail.

  • In my Mail program (4.6), OS10.6.8, can I send bulk email bcc? If so is there a limit to the number of names/addresses that I can send?

In my Mail program (4.6), OS10.6.8, can I send bulk email bcc? If so is there a limit to the number of names/addresses that I can send?

To add the BCC field to the message window, create a new message, click the 'three lines' button near the to and from fields & select the 'BCC Address field' or choose the 'customise' option. This button may be a 'gear' on the older OS (I don't recall for 10.6.8 Mail).
The BCC field is more likely to be limited by the email server than Mail app. If you add hundreds of addresses (or use large groups with many addresses) the email server may assume you are sending spam. Sometimes it causes the server to drop the message or bounce them, different providers also have different rules, so you need to use bcc & ccc with care.
If you plan on doing mass mailing you would be better with a service that handles it correctly for you (i.e. sends multiple messages without using ccc or bcc).

  • Is there a limit to the number of Apple TV's attached to an iTunes Library

I recently replaced 7 (seven) Version 1 Apple TV's with Version 3 Apple TV's and noticed that I now receive an error, "Cannot connect to the iTunes Library, ensure that you are on the same network, etc." on two of the Apple TV's. Shutting down iTunes and relaunching results in two others not being able to connect, but two of the previous non-connects now do. I've tried this several times and each time it appears as if only 5 of the ATV's can connect at once. Is this a limit imposed upon by Apple? Is there any workaround besides having two of the "non-connects" access the iTunes store for purchased content? The library is extensive and contains a lot of purchased content, but also contains legacy content from old CD's, DVD's and the like. I'd like to be able to access all of it if possible.
Note that the way this used to work with the older ATV's was that 2 would directly sync and 5 would stream. But with each new iteration of iTunes these ATV's seemed to get flakier and flakier hence the replacement. The new ATV's are all connected via Home Sharing.
I'm running iTunes 11.0.2 on a Mac Mini OS X Server (10.6.8). Would it help to upgrade to the latest OS?  I can understand bandwidth issues, but we're running a Gigabit ethernet (wired) network to these ATV's and the old ones worked fine previously. Why impose this limit? Come on Apple. Give us a little love for those of us that push your tech to the limit.

Perhaps you would post the exact message (because that is not what is states)?
