Is there a malware removal tool for ipad?

HHi, I may have a malware in my ipad, is there a successful antivirus/malware removal tool that can be recommended?
thanks

Thanks. This is what that page should look like (on an iPhone though):
Anything other than that, including a popup password screen, should be considered suspicious.
Try resetting Safari: go to Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies and Data.
Consider toggling "on" the settings for both Fraudulent Website Warning and Block Pop-ups, if they are not already selected "on".

  • HT5254 I have gone through the process for "Malware Removal Tool" and I cannot find a place where to make this tool work? Can somebody tell me?

First of all, I would like to know how do I know that I have "Flashback Malware" in my computer? - I have decided to install the removla tool just in case, but cannot find anywhere to activate and start the process of cleaning or detecting this malware. Will appreciate some advise on this subject.

Did you install it via Software Update or did you download the Apple malware installer software? If so, there's nothing for you to do. It's all automatic. There are no programs to run. See:
    Helpful Links Regarding Flashback Trojan
Visit Thomas Reed's site for insight and help: Mac Malware Guide
A Google search can reveal a variety of alternatives on how the remove the trojan should your computer get infected. This can get you started. However, be careful about what you do as new variants of the malware circumvent the efforts of earlier tools.
Also see Apple's article About Flashback malware.
Apple has released Java updates for Snow Leopard and Lion users:
Java for OS X Lion 2012-003; available only for users of Lion with Java installed.
Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 8; available only for users of Snow Leopard.
Flashback malware removal tool; available only for users of Lion without Java installed.
Install whichever shows up in Software Update. It removes the malware (if present), updates Java (if present) and tightens up Java settings for the future.  You may download from Apple's web site instead of using Software Update, but it's important to know which one to get, because the other two won't work for you.

  • HT5163 where do I get a SIM card tool for iPad 3?  My cellular data doesn't work now that I downloaded iOS6.  Instructions are to remove SIM card and then reinsert and it SHOULD work.

Where di I get a SIM card tool for iPad 3?  My cellular data doesn't work now tht I downloaded iOS6.1.  Instructions tell me to remove SIM card and then return.  Will that work? Verizon tells me it's an Apple issue.

I did that but was intimidated.  With your adivce I was more aggressive and it popped open. And I removed and replaced.  It works.  Thanks!

  • HT5246 How do you run the Flashback malware removal tool?

How do you run the Flashback malware removal tool?
    Thanks

I am away from my computer and it is somewhat awkward to reply on an iPad.
    > I had already done what softwater instructed. I've read that it deletes itself on other threads, but it's still in my Finder as a Device. That's what confused me, because it doesn't appear to have deleted itself.
Sorry, I wasn't clear. That is not the tool. It is the .dmg image mounted to your desktop. Next to the name you will see a small eject icon. Click on it or highlight it and choose "Eject" from the appropriate Finder menu. Once that happens you can drag the .dmg file to the trash as it will not delete itself.
    > I only recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and then Lion, in quick succession. My understanding is that there were (are) variants that would have infected my computer prior to my upgrading my OS to Lion. Before the upgrade, they were Adobe, but afterward they were Java. Could it be that be that the pop-ups were/are some other variant?
Difficult to say for certain. Apple says it deletes all the common variants but does not specify which and I haven't seen the results of any testing done to verify that it finds and deletes those. The only dialogs that appeared with the initial variants were for FlashPlayer. They are depicted in the descriptions for Flashback-A on F-Secures site if you want to take a look. There have been none that I am aware of for Java, so that is probably either a web page or application that needs Java to run giving you that alert.
    > If the Flashback malware removal tool didn't find anything and my Software Update is current, does that mean the vulnerability has been fixed? At least for now? I understand that I Software Update will prompt downloads in the future if and when it needs to be patched again.
The vulnerability is in Java, nowhere else, so if you don't have it installed there was nothing to fix.
If you download Java in the future it will be the latest version Apple has available at the time, which hopefully will not be subject to exploitation, yet...

  • Bootable Media Malware Removal Tools, Preferable?

Quite often a system can be rendered useless by malware, a recent example of this in Germany being the Bundeskriminalamt virus.
Those who were unlucky enough to get hit were informed that their computer had been traced as being used for illegal purposes and they should transfer €100 to pay the fine and the message would go away and they would be able to resume to normal usage of their computer. This was of course not the case and the system remained unusable as it is not possible to close the window and it always remains on "top".
In such situations I often turn to bootable malware removal tools offered by most of the anti-malware companies and find them to be very effective removing malware and bringing a system back to a state in which further diagnosis / repairs can be carried out.
If I suspect a system to be infected, which may also boot normally, is a bootable media scan preferable to a scan carried out from within the OS?  Are there any drawbacks / disadvantages in using such tools?

    Hi,
IMHO, whatever works, use it, as long as you completely understand how the tools work, their limitations, what they can do to the infested system and can provide clear instructions for the tool's use.  I regularly use installed tools, tools which do not require installation, online scans, bootable media tools and Linux Live distros.  I generally work with the easiest first, and then go to more powerful methods as needed.  The more complex the method used, the more difficult it is for the owner of the infected system, and the greater the likelihood that a mistake may be made.  So, care is needed as well as being very aware of the technical capability of the victim.
It is worth mentioning that most of the bootable media tools are Linux based due to copyright restrictions that could easily arise from using bootable media based on Windows.  There are such tools, but they are always AFAIK paid tools, where part of the cost pays a license fee to Microsoft for using their copyright files for the bootable media.

I cant watch some videos on websites where i could usually watch videos before. This happened after i updated to MAC OS X 10.7.4 and a flashback malware removal tool 2 days ago. I have very little knowledge about computers so your help is very much needed n appreciated!

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only Guest login created by "Find My Mac."
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

No, it just means that you are running Lion and do not have Java installed. The update will simply check for any previous infection and let you know if it finds anything. If it doesn't find anything it will quit without any notices. In either case, it will then delete itself and you can sleep easy until the next one comes along.

How he became a Lion user wouldn't be relevant because if he installed Lion, then any previous version of Java would be removed. Unless the OP purposely installed Java there would not be any Java software on the computer. I am pretty sure this is correct given the number of users who have seen fit to point that out to me.
Yes of course, but Java is only needed as the initial step (installation of the dropper) in the infection process and is not required by the malware after that. Once infected neither the removal of Java nor the installation of a new OS will do anything to disable Flashback. The majority of the components are installed in the users home folder and if he gives up his password, the rest goes into Safari. I'm not certain whether Safari is replaced during Lion installation or not. So there is a good chance that at least some of the malware components are still in operation after an upgrade or migration. That's the only point I'm trying to make. Do you not agree with that?
I feel that way because of the recent frequency of your remarks in various topics to which I've contributed.
I only pick on you because you get around to many more people than I can ever hope to, so I want you to have the latest and best info possible. I wish I could do more, but my two other jobs take up almost more time than I have. Besides, I do the same with Linc and Carolyn and probably a few others who's advise I value and I envy that you have all have time to do what you do. But right now I need to get back to work on my taxes or I'll be in a lot of trouble come Monday.
I would much prefer to do all this in a sidebar, but my level doesn't allow such things, so I do what I can when I can.
I have Java installed on my systems and do so purposefully. Others may install it because they are prompted to do so. That's why the tools are available both to detect the malware as well as remove it.
Which brings up a good point. I wonder if those Lion users who are now discovering they need Java get the MRT in the same way as those who install the current updates?

  • Flashback malware removal tool working?

I downloaded this from the site and installed it. I cant find it as an app to run it.
Is it an app I need to run, or is it installed and runs in the background? If thats the case how do i find it in the activity monitor to make sure its running?

    Hi Jon ...
Not sure what "app" you are referring to.
Installing this update removes variants of the flashback trojan >   Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 8
Restart your Mac after the update is installed.
There is a removal tool if that's what you mean >  Flashback Removal Tool - F-Secure Weblog : News from the Lab
But make sure and install that update regardless.

Update: An Apple rep called me today to update the status of my return. I was told that the replacements for the BLACK iPad 2's was still another 3 weeks out (at least) so they offered me a brand new WHITE 16GB iPad 2. I could have that or continue waiting. I opted to go ahead and accept the offer of a new white one. Worst case scenario if I don't like the white one I have buddy that just bought a 16GB black one that he would be willing to swap it.

    Tool looks like this:

  • Is there TOC feature in Pages for iPad?

Is there TOC feature in Pages for iPad?

I think it not an unreasonable feature request for a word prcessor. I feel that in scaling pages down to the iPad Apple has also made the product a little less attractive for professional usage. For example pages for iPad really should preserve Endnotes created elsewhere, but it does not at present. A shame, but we can hope that in subsequent versions of pages for iPad that support or preservation of advanced word processing features is introduced.
