Is there a maximum file size (or number of hyperlinks) for iWeb?

This isn't a problem, just a concern. I've built a very large iWeb file to keep track of a genealogy project and the file is getting big: there are 1800+ people listed in the file, each with her/his individual page; each page has a minimum of 6 hyperlinks (links to parents, children, indexes and home page); and the size of the iWeb domain file is approaching 600MB. It's a tiny file compared to Wikipedia, but I'm seeing the pinwheel "cursor of death" for c. 30 seconds whenever I launch iWeb and getting a bit nervous. Am I getting close to some sort of size/complexity limit for the iWeb program? Thanks in advance for any advice. (By the way, I don't plan to publish the genealogy on any sites; I always publish it to DVD-ROMs for family use only, so uploading is not a concern.)

David ~ Probably. iWeb simply wasn't designed to do what you're doing with it. Although iWeb may not have a numerical limit on size or links, bear in mind that it was designed for small personal sites.
One thing you could do to reduce the size is post some of your data on an external site such as Posterous and hyperlink to it. Posterous will automatically place PDFs in a convenient viewer, e.g.
http://dont-panic.posterous.com
By the way, the PDF there was converted from Posterous' web page via this:
_Free online URL to PDF Converter_
And Weebly allows sub-pages (and sub-sub-pages) accessible via drop-down menu. This might allow you to organize your data in a more structured way than iWeb allows:
_Weebly Support Center: Sub-Pages_

No, it all depends on the length of the movie or tv show. I never have seen a movie longer than 3 hours on the iTMS.

  • Is there a maximum file size in Aperture 3?

Is there a maximum file size in Aperture 3? All my files from a digi camera work fine in Aperture. However I also shoot film and get hi res. scans done. These files are very large, especially after working on them in photoshop. A2 does not like large files much above 250MB. What about A3?

So far it's doing just fine with my Mamiya 645 scans (about 11,000x15,000 pixels, around 200MB) whereas Aperture 2 would gag and maroon-screen on them. Needless to say my poor old first gen Mac Proo huffs and wheezes a bit on some operations, but it is working.

  • Is there a Maximum file size limit when combining pdf files

I am trying to combine files 8 PDF files created with i Explore using Acrobat XI Standard, the process is completed but when opening the file not all 8 individual files have been combined only the first two have been combined, the process shows all eight being read and combined.
I can open and view each of the original 8 individual files and read the content without any issue, the largest of the eight files is 15,559kb and the smallest is 9,435kb
if anyone can assist that would be most appreciated

    Hi Tayls450,
This should not have happened as there is no maximum file size limit when combining PDFs.
Please let me know if there are some password protected PDFs also?
Also, I would suggest you to choose 'Repair Acrobat Installation' option from the Help menu.

  • Maximum file size that OSB can handle for JMS

    Hi,
We have a requirement to process 60MB xml files over JMS in Oracle Service Bus. While prototyping this we are facing heap space errors.
Can somebody let me know what is the maximum file size that we can process? The scenario is as below.
    JMS --> OSB --> JMS --> OSB --> JMS
    Thanks

if you don't need to access the entire content of the message, you can try using content streaming
(see this OSB - Iterating over large XML files with content streaming discussion)
See also here http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/userguide/context.html#wp1110513 for best practices.
Otherwise I have noticed myself that OSB is very hungry in memory when loading large messages. I had trouble even with a 5 MB binary file being loaded - this would take 500 MB RAM. in these cases I would rather look for ETL tools such as Oracle Data Integrator or Open Source Pentaho.

  • Is there a maximum file size that can be converted to pdf

I have a 448mb tiff that I want to convert to a pdf. However, Acrobat gives me the error that the file is damaged or there is some other problem. Photoshop CS5 opens the file with no problem. It won't convert it to a PDF either.
The tiff is at 200 resolution. If I reduce it to 60 it will convert.
Am I trying to do something that can't be done?

Open in PS and print to the Adobe PDF printer. However, a 448MB TIFF seems huge. At 200 dpi and 24 bit color (millions of colors) that leaves you with a 61inX61in graphic. Even at 600dpi, that is 20X20.
For us to help you, please indicate exactly how you are trying to convert from PhotoShop. For Acrobat, are you trying to open the TIFF in Acrobat directly? Is the TIFF a single sheet, or multiple sheet? There are a lot of unanswered questions for us.
One of the limitations on file size is the size of the temporary PS file that is created in the PDF creation process. This PS file is created in the TEMP folder that is limited by MS. So you might try emptying the TEMP folder.

  • Content Viewer will not download the folio preview. Is there a maximum file size?

I am unable to download a 378 MB folio into the Adobe Content Viewer on my iPad.
I can preview the same folio using the Content Viewer on my laptop, and it works fine in the Content Viewer on the iPad as well when I transfer the file from laptop to iPad using the USB cable. However, when I click on the download cloud icon, there is a "Waiting..." text beneath it, but the file won't download. There is no other error message, even after ten minutes of wait time.
I am using the most recent version of the Content Viewer, and have tried deleting and replacing it several times, as well as restarting the iPad. I have closed all other apps on the iPad to free up memory. The iPad is running 8.1.2 and have more than 4 GB of storage.
I using the most current version of InDesign CC. The folio version number is 32.
My download speed here is about 34 Mbps.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure you have the latest 32.4 version of the Adobe Content Viewer?
It feels similar to an issue we had prior to the 32.1 version (see fix notes at Digital Publishing Suite Help | DPS Bug Fix Release Notes)
Otherwise you may want to call support so we can run a few tests with the folio itself.

  • When hyperlinking a file, is there a maximum file size?

On my website, I had no problem hyperlinking a 2.7 MB, low res pdf.
But when I tried to hyperlink a 33.6 MB, high res pdf, iWeb wouldn't/couldn't do it.
After hitting publish, it seemed like it was trying to do it, but after a long while a dialog box popped up saying that it "encountered problems".
Is my high res file too big? I use Clearwire for internet access- could my 256k uplink speed be too slow?
    MacBook Pro/ 2GB /2.16 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Thinkingman,
iWeb probably timed out while trying to upload the large file. Probably a good thing; you really don't want to host huge files like this for download from a .Mac server--your visitors will chew through bandwidth pretty fast.
Here's my suggestion. Stop trying to host huge files on .Mac. .Mac servers are too slow anyway to properly serve a file of this size. Buy space on 1&1 WebHosting and upload your large files to this space using Transmit. They will upload quickly; they will download quickly; and you can link to them as you would any file. Simple workflow and easy on the bandwidth. Once you establish an upload routine with the remote server you will never go back--trust me!
This will solve your problems, I believe.

  • Maximum File Size on Import?

Hello all, been a ghost reader here but this is my first question (love the forums, btw, super helpful).
I've been editing a feature film on Premiere Pro. We are nearing the end and I received a DPX sequence back from coloring. Upon importing into Premiere (Intermediate Media Timebase set to the appropriate framerate), the importer hangs up. If I click on anything, the program crashes.
    Here are my questions:
Is a 2TB DPX sequence a "normal" size for any project? This seems insanely large to me, but this is also my first feature so I could just be ignorant.
If 2TB is normal, is there a maximum file size Premiere can import? If not, should my system be able to handle a 2TB file?
The 2TB file is on an external drive, connected via USB3. Potential to connect via eSATA.
    System Specs:
    3770k CPU
    SSD for OS (256GB)
    External Raid 10 - 6TB
    32gb RAM
    GTX 580 GPU
    All help is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks for the reply, Jim.
Just to clarify, a file this size (or sequence of files) is common? But generally the only way to handle them is with a RAID 3 setup?
My next question would be, isn't there a lossless format the color people could give me that isn't 2TB? The file I gave them was just over 800GB so it seems really unnecessary for it to be this large.

  • Maximum file size for Adobe air for Androind and iOS compiled apps

    Hi All
I am working on a project which has a few videos which I need to bundle into my mobile app for an Ipad app I am creating using Adobe Air for iOS. My question is simple is there a maximum file size limit on apps compiled using Adobe air for iOS? And if so what is it? Any help would be great.

Hi.  Im not a 100% sure this is correct.  I am able to make a large .IPA file (200+Mb) and it will go onto my iPad 1, but it does not work - Just quicts after a few secs.  If I run the same IPA on my iPad 2 it works.
When I take out some of the assets so its a smalelr size then it does run on the iPad.

  • Maximum File size on DMP

    Hello,
Is there a maximum file size that DMP 4400G can support. We are trying to upload a 7GB MPEG file to the DMP with an attached 16Gb USB flash drive. However, it fails when it reaches 56% with an FTP error: ( "Unable to write data to the transport connection: An existing connection was
forcibly closed by the remote host.")
Is there a maximum file size that the DMP FTP daemon supports?
    Thanks

I am not aware of any File size limitations in the DMP.
    I tested with DMP-4400G running 5.2.
I created a 7GB file and used FTP (Filezilla) to upload file to
    USB2 on the DMP.
    The file transfered without issue.
I would suggest trying a different file and test
    transfer again.
    For Example:
    (linux, OS X, unix)
    command = dd
dd - create a large file for testing
    Description
To create a 7 GB file:
    # dd if=/dev/zero of=file_7GB bs=7m count=1k
    Example
    dd if=/dev/zero of=file_7GB bs=7m count=1k
    * What FTP client are you using?
    * What format type is file?
    * What version of code on the DMP?
    * What file format is used on the external USB drive?
    * What manufacturer & model# of the flash being used?
    Thanks
    T.

  • What is the maximum file size for Pages?

    Hi,
What is the maximum number of pages and maximum file size that I can have for Pages document?
    Thank you.

    chessmagnet,
As a practicality in a large document it pays to break it up into sections in different documents with the numbering carrying on from the last one.
Assemble the final document at the end when you need to create a T.O.C. and any hyperlinks.
Several users have reported being unable to save very large files and other problems.
It is a good safety measure anyway and as Yvan says it will work faster.

  • Is there a way around the Maximum File size of 2.0 GB Exceeded message???

I tried to bounce a two hour mix set for the first time today, and I received this message
---->Maximum File size of 2.0 GB Exceeded
I've tied fiddling with the tempo (read somewhere that this might help), but to no avail. I originally wanted to bounce a file down to 192 kbps. I mean is there no way to record anything over an hour and a half into Logic?
    Please advise! Thanks!

Yes. Use the .caf file format. No file size restrictions.
    LP8 Use4r Manual. p. 359:
    *Maximum Recording Size*
+The AIFF and SDII file formats can not handle audio file recordings larger than 2 GB:+
    • For 16 bit, 44.1 kHz stereo files, this equals a recording time of about 3 hours and 15+
    minutes.
    • For 24 bit, 96 kHz, 5.1 surround files, this equals a recording time of about 20 minutes.+
+The WAV file format can not handle audio file recordings larger than 4 GB:+
    • For 16 bit, 44.1 kHz stereo files, this equals a recording time of about 6 hours and 30+
    minutes.
    • For 24 bit, 96 kHz, 5.1 surround files, this equals a recording time of about 40 minutes.+
+If the size of your recording will exceed these limits, you should choose CAF as the+
+recording file type. CAF can handle the following recording times:+
    • About 13 hours and 30 minutes at 44.1 kHz+
    • About 6 hours at 96 kHz+
    • About 3 hours at 192 kHz+
+The bit depth and channel format (mono, stereo, surround) do not affect the maximum+
    +recording size of CAF files.+
+You can define the preferred file type in the Recording File Type menu of the Logic Pro+
    +> Preferences > Audio > General preferences.+
