Is there a mbpro 15 retina with matte display?

I wanted to know if the new MBPro 15 retina are arriving also with matte display.....?

Not to be found.  The retinas are not as glossy as the glossy MBPs but are not as 'matte' as the as the glare MBPs.  Neither chicken nor fowl.
Ciao.

No one but Apple would know that.  Per the Terms of Use for these forums, we are discouraged from discussing possible new Apple products or changes.

    None from a practical standpoint.

  • Are there any new 17 " MBPs with matte display out which run properly?

    Hallo,
I am about to buy one 17 MBP with matte display. But now I ve read all these posts and
I hesitate to order one. I don't want to have all the trouble to send it back and then wait
again. So, are there any guys who can not report these graphic issues?
    Yours
    Matthias

CD = Core Duo, the 1st generation of 17" MBP from way back in 2006. It was flawless when I got it. It's still running perfectly 3 years later. Only issue was a bad battery, and that was a known manufacturing problem at Sony that affected Macs as well as PC laptops. Apple extended the warranty to cover the issue, and replaced mine for free ~3 months after my one-year warranty expired. Two colleagues have the new 17" unibody MBP, one with glossy and one with matte, both are flawless.

  • IMac with Matte display?

I don't see any matte display options on the new iMacs and that makes me sad.
Is there any rumor that will get one in the near future or apple have turned it's back to matte displays for ever?
Are there other ways to have a matte display?

There are no iMacs with matte displays and per the terms and conditions of this forum we cannot speculate on future products or reasons for Apple's decisions. New iMacs were just released today so I doubt you will any changes for many months to come.
Someone may pipe up with options for a matte display but in the 4 years the aluminum Macs have been available I haven't seen a good option for one yet.

  • Macbook pro 15 retina with UHD display slowness

    I have connected a
Samsung display U28D590, to my Mid-2014 MBP 15 Retina with Intel Iris Pro.
My display reports a successful 60hz and is set on DispalyPort 1.2 protocol.
But still when the extra display is connected i experience hiccups, like it gets stuck and i can not move the mouse for a few seconds, sometimes even 10-20 seconds and the keyboard as well at times stops reacting, the system freezes, i think that music playback continues if exists.
    i am aware to :
Using 4K displays and Ultra HD TVs with Mac computers - Apple Support
i am not sure about the effect of:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) - Apple Support
    and i even tried:
How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
i want to know if this is the best results i can get, i would love to hear from users with the same expirience, and also if having the dedicated video card
another interesting thing to note is when i go full screen, in youtube, mac gets hot, but when i play a video from my ssd with vlc and put it full screen it doesn't necesserially happen, and i can watch 2 hours without any fan noise. running the cpu hot for long period as a movie is not recommended if i am not wrong. but most important are the long hiccups.
please help me! thanks in advance.

  • Any T laptop with matte display?

    Hello,
I would like to buy a small Lenovo t400, but I'm afraid, because there is no info about glossy or nonglossy screen in 2764cto. In Lenovo store is only  14.1 WXGA+ TFT, w/ CCFL Backlight, Camera information.
    Sorry for my English

When I configured mine, I saved the quote and then talked to a customer service agent.  He said since Thinkpads are intended as business machines so the default is matte finish.  I didn't bother to ask if you could even get a glossy finish.
    T500 - P8600 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo, Modded - 4GB Patriot DDR3 and 320GB Caviar Black 7200rpm drive with Ati HD3650 and Catalyst 9.6 modded drivers - Vista Business 32bit stripped down to bare bones with VM's from Ubuntu to Win7RC1 64-bit.

  • Using Macbook retina with external display

    Hello,
Currently I have a MBP 15" and use it on a daily basis with both the built-in display and an external 20" (1680x1050) display. I'm getting a new MBP retina and don't know how OS X is going to manage two displays with such a big difference in dots per inch. Will the "retina-ready" apps look just fine on the retina and enormous on the external? Has anyone tried a configuration like this?
    Thanks in advance.
    -- Pedro

It will handle two displays exactly like it presently does.  Each monitor has it's own respective resolution.  One monitor's resolution has no bearing on the other when using extended display mode.
The only problem I can see is using mirrored mode since the screen size will be limited by the smallest resolution in the mirrored set.  But I never recommend mirrored mode anyhow (except for presentations).  It's such a waste of good display real estate.

  • MacBook Pro Retina with Thunderbolt Display Issues

I have issues when connecting my MacBook Pro to the Thunderbolt Display when I don't do a fresh boot of the MacBook Pro.  It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, the Thunderbolt Display usually turns on succesfully, but none of my USB devices (mouse, keyboard) respond and when I try to disconnect the Thunderbolt, the MacBook doesn't realize it's been disconnected and thus I'm just left with the background screen and have to shut it down by holding the power button for a few seconds.
With a fresh boot, everything works fine.  Are you supposed to have to shut down and restart everytime you hook up this monitor?  Has anyone had these issues?

I have the exact same issue. I hauled the TB Display into the Apple Store 3 times and finally they replaced it. Come to find out this new one has the same issue still. So It has to be rMBP related at this point. Unfortunately I don't think I have it under warranty still and the issue is hard to demonstrate. I recorded videos of it but every time I go into the store and plug it is the same as switching the speakers from internal to external and it takes 30-60 mins before it degrates to scratching sounds.
Please let me know if you ever foudn a solution. Im going to try to keep taking it in until I can get this resolved.

  • I recently purchased MBP retina  w/Thunderbolt Display

I recently purchased MBP retina with Thunderbolt display. Also purchased Apple Care for the MBP. Does the Apple Care cover the Thunderbolt display also? Or do I need to purchase additional Apple Care for the display? Back in 2006 when I bought previous MBP with Cinema Display, the Apple Care purchase covered both. Does this still apply or have the rules changed?

    hawpotr,
you can find the current terms and conditions of an AppleCare Protection Plan in your region of the world here.

  • Is there any pen for iPad with retina display ?

Is there any pen for iPad with retina display ?

Yes. The Bamboo stylus is fully supported. Only the soft rubber tipped side. The Pen side obviosuly not.
Note all stylus that work with the iPad are noticeably thicker than a pen or pencil, so precision is not something you'll get much of.
Look at the link I provided, all those stylus work with iPad. See if you like one of those. Or if you can fnd one of those were you live.

  • Using Thinkpad Trackpoint USB Keyboard with MacBook Pro, Air, Retina (with pictures)

Using Thinkpad Trackpoint USB Keyboard with MacBook Pro, Air, Retina (with pictures)
The purpose of this discussion thread is to:
    (1) Get community thoughts around using alternative and complimentary mousing approaches with MacBooks
    (2) To share a current and searchable set of resources for those interested in leveraging a best-of-both-worlds approach for using a non-Apple Trackpoint Keyboard with an Apple MacBook.
    (3) To level-set the fact that a Thinkpad Trackpoint USB Keyboard works with MacBooks automatically and instantly out-of-the-box.
Note: I created this discussion because I found that all the other discussion threads related to using a Thinkpad Trackpoint Keyboard with MacBooks were archived and therefore I could not post my thoughts there.
I have been using MacBooks for 3+ years now.  Airs, Pros, Retinas etc.  I LOVE the built-in MacBook Apple Trackpad.  It is wonderful.  Apple has no equal as far as Trackpads go.
In addition, I have been using the Thinkpad Trackpoint USB Keyboard with my MacBooks for ~2 years, and below is why I have found BOTH the Apple Trackpad and Thinkpad Trackpoint to be great.
The Trackpoint and Trackpad both have their sweet spots.  Personally I use the built-in Apple Trackpad on my MacBooks when I'm using my MacBook for less than 1 hour, loosely speaking.  If I am going to be heads-down for more than 1 hr writing, reading, surfing, graphic designing, programming, workshop facilitating, teaching, mindmapping, presenting, demoing, etc. then I pull out my "Lenovo Thinkpad USB Keyboard with Trackpoint (55Y9003) > https://www.google.com/search?&q=lenovo+thinkpad+trackpoint+usb+keyboard
I know many will laugh at me for using a Thinkpad Trackpoint Keyboard with a MacBook...  Keeping an open mind, let's just agree that there is historical precedence for alternative mousing devices.  If I could only choose one, I would use the Apple MacBook built-in Trackpad exclusively, however with alternatives come potential benefits.  Keep in mind that Apple, Microsoft, Logitech and many other companies make millions of dollars each year providing alternative peripheral devices for computers, and mousing is no exception.  Regardless, I just want to share my positive experiences using both. :-)
Why should you care?  For *some* people the following is true and meaningful.  The Trackpoint (the little red eraser head stick thingy) in the midle of the keyboard enables useful and unique dynamics/use-cases, including:
You don't have to take your hand(s) off the keyboard to mouse
You can independantly click without accidentally moving the mouse (Yes I know some people don't have issues with this)
You don't run out of finger-gesture runway when you're moving your mouse across the screen (I know this is a gray area for some people)
For mouse-movement-heavy applications (e.g. Graphics, drawing, etc.) the Trackpoint *is at times* more exacting
Below I share some pictures (which I know *look* ridiculous to some people, but none-the-less help demystify what this looks like.  And, while ridiculous looking, it is actually quite thin and elegant once you get over the initial shock of seeing these two diverse technologies combined in this way.
Rest assured, the keyboard shown below (google "55Y9003") is VERY light, thin and fits in almost any laptop case/backpack easily so it is not a big deal to carry it, if you work on-the-go.  In addition:
It is UNCANNY how well it fits on top of the keyboard space of all MacBooks.
It fits perfectly around the corners of the MacBook Pro/Air/Retina keyboard
Note: I took one of the 5 rubber feet/pads off the bottom of my keyboard, the one in the middle
Lastly, you can actually use the built-in Apple Trackpad at the SAME TIME as the Trackpoint Keyboard.
It is quite a nice best-of-both-worlds approach for people that like the benefits of the "Why should you care?" use cases above.
Please reply and comment with your thoughts and please let's keep it positive, constructive and friendly :-)
    Pictures Below:
My two Retina MBPs, one with and one without the keyboard, so you can easily see the difference.  (As if you wouldn't)

Newer Bluetooth version of the ThinkPad External Trackpoint Keyboard available...
The new version is smaller, so you can use your MacBook Trackpad at the same time as your Trackpoint keyboard.
    Here is the Lenovo model/Part Number# 0B47190
Here is a picture of what it looks like:
Note: Just like the older larger USB model keyboard, there is a rubbery footpad in the middle of the bottom of the keyboard that I just peeled off.  Otherwise, it makes the "H" key press accidentally under-neath the keyboard.  Once I took that off, it fit perfectly over and around the built-in MacBook keyboard, so I can optionally put it on top of my MacBook for easy typing. :-)
