Moderators do not usually answer such posts as this, but other users do -- that is the strength of the Discussions.
Make sure Address Book is not running
Replace the AddressBook.data file found in your current Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook folder with that from your copy of the previous AddressBook folder, and then relaunch the Address Book application.
I think you can also replace the entire AddressBook folder, but I know the version difference does not come into play with the file I first pointed you to.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Is there a way to report a complaint about a moderator here in the Apple Support Communities?

I spent a long time writing a question about an issue I'm having and submitted it to the OS X Mavericks section because I couldn't find an OS X Yosemite Beta section. I got a rapid response from a member of the community who I assume is a moderator of some kind (if those even exist here) bluntly telling me:
This is not the location for asking about the Yosemite beta. Please direct your questions to the area Apple provided to you for that.
I tried to reply to apologise and protest that I was unable to find a Yosemite beta area, but it seems that my entire topic question has been deleted, I can only assume by this same community member/moderator. I find this action to be quite unhelpful and intimidating to first-time posters here in the community, and was wondering if there was a way to take action against this person (if they were in fact responsible for deleting the post).
I'm not going to name-and-shame them here but if anybody could offer assistance I'd be most grateful.

I am really frustrated. I moved from GoLive to Dreamweaver
when I purchased a new Mac recently. It used to be that I could
easily insert a quicktime file with very little hand coding. This
seems impossible now. it seems the only wayt to do this is via hand
coding and I didn't need to pay another couple of hundred dollars
for a special application to do that. Is there any easier way
similar to GoLive to simply insert a quicktime file onto an HTML
page?
I have been dead in the water here for 2 weeks trying to do
this.

this forum - seems that messages posted are few and far between and

FYI - I posted a question about a workaround for a problem I
found using DW on 3/26. There were no responses posted to that. On
the Apple forums, I received a few suggestions and some code
samples but here there was no response at all. From my experience
here - in contrast to the Apple forums, I deduced that - as with
other technical forums - there are possibly very few users actually
floating around here.
I'm not familiar with the alternative method of participating
in these forums mentioned in this thread since I typically do not
spend much time on forums, period.

So is there anyone on here who is HAPPY with their ipod classic?

i recently purchased a 160gb ipod classic (the black model) and i'm thinking about returning it based upon the overwhelming negative posts i've read about it on here. i still have not removed the item from its packaging so have not yet experienced either good or bad results. i already own a 30 and 80gb 5th gen which have both proven totally reliable but i'll need to sell them both in order to cover the $350 expense of the classic. with all of the horror stories i've read on here about the classic, i'm thinking of taking it back and just sticking with my trusty ol' 5th gens. any advice?

I am happy with mine, but
1) it's my first,
2) I can afford it, and
3) I'm basing my opinion on my own experience, rather than that of a discussions board.
I'm a little lost as to how you could buy one if you can't afford it, why you'd get one when you already have two, and how you could buy one without opening it. If I were you, I'd take it back, but then, I may not have bought it in the first place, or at least not until I had sold the others.

I am getting random crashes, but every time I go to downloads. Is there a fix here?

When I use Firefox I get random crashes but if I try to Download it will crash every time. I get no warning just this program has stopped working and is shutting down then I will get to you wish to restore your session when I restart Firefox or I get there is already a version of Firefox running even when it has been shut down and I have to restart my computer to get Firefox back up. I think this might be a conflict with adobe flash or one of these programs but I can not find any info on this problem.

FF Nightly look exactly like FF 7 or is there something wrong here?

I have ran Firefox 7.0.1 since it was released, but wanted to try Firefox Nightly to test out what x64 browsing was like. I downloaded Nightly and the x64 version of Adobe, installed everything, but when I run nightly (from the Nightly icon on my desktop), it looks exactly like my FF 7.0.1 browser clear down to saying that it is FF 7.0.1 when I look at the about Firefox under help. Am I just way behind and nightly has been made to look like 7 when it is actually running Nightly or is there a problem and my laptop is actually opening FF 7 when I click on the nightly icon?

I guess high security mode mean means trusted and is running Active-X, I don't know Looked okay to me in Firefox, for '''baixaki.com.br''', then tried IE and I think it looks almost the same, advertises Firefox there in the first block in IE; otherwise the same. My IE settings are set at Internet Medium security, but it was customized, some active-x stuff is enabled but most are not and I wasn't asked anything in bringing it up in IE.
Looked the same with or without Adblock Plus in Firefox but there was a lot of stuff blocked like tracking and double-click. Though it may be misleading because I do have more than just AdBlock Plus to block unwanted files within web pages.
Since you say you are okay if you clear cache, I would suggest that you clear cache each time you end your session, solves a lot of problems, including some problems with new versions of Firefox where you should clear cache.

It would be easier for others to test if you include the links as text as well, but I think since I can see that first one okay that one link was enough this time. I can test more later if the above doesn't work for you. You can clear cache on all of your browsers when they end.
When I backup my personal files I also clear out temporary files used by most of my Firefox profiles, and other browsers.
Problems sometimes appearing is indicative of different ads, I would suggest installing Adblock Plus and then the EasyList US filter subscription.
Use the "Esc" key to close images attached in this forum, which is a lot easier than scrolling to click on an obscured "X" or a close link.

The short answer is have your friend burn those tracks to CDs and then import them into your iTunes library.
For lllaass: Its obvious you have never been to a Dead show, so we'll cut you some slack. The tracks in question were never purchased, they were taped live during the show. The Greatful Dead has always reserved "front row center" for a group affectionately called "tapers," because they always came prepared to record each show, and owing to the fact that no two shows were the same, some of those tapes are one of a kind..... I have taped shows myself, namely the shows at RFK Stadium in DC, and the Coliseum in Charlotte NC.

Rapidsoftclearon jumping in as "there's malware here" starts doing a check (McAfee icon?), can't shut it off. Sudden appearance of this. Win 7

I start up Firefox 3.6 (I believe) and immediately window comes up saying "you have malware issue...". If that box is not 'x'd, a process with a McAfee-like symbol/icon starts listing trojans you allegedly have, and proposes you accept a program to handle this problem.
I am already running ESET antivirus which has seemed to work fine.
