Is there a monitor in here? My past post is now gone!
I can't understand why I cannot get any answers from in here. I am polite and my posts were read over 200 times yet no one seems to reply. Now I have found my last post to be deleted from here. Why? My problem does'nt seem so severe that someone could'nt atleast offer some assistance. I put my iTunes on a external to get off my internal and save internal space. Well everything did transfer except my song star ratings ( they are on my internal library but not on my external ). So I unplug my external and go into my internal and write down a CDs ratings on paper , then I delete that CD on the internal. I plug the external back in and find that CD and add the ratings. I unplug the external and go back into my internal to get ratings on afew more CDs only to find that the previously deleted CD is now back on the internal again! Must I uninstall the internal iTunes? Why did'nt my ratings transfer? If I uninstall iTunes on my internal will it still be okay on my external? Or am I just doing something wrong , or did I transfer to external wrong? Should I clean my external and start over? I am no tech whiz and have a VERY hard time understanding the ins and outs of all this stuff. I really dont want to loose the over 5000 songs I have in my library and start over. Any reply would VERY APPRECIATED! THANK YOU!
I have 2 folders in my external that both have the same thing in each. One is "My Music" with 38.2 GB and the other is "Automatically Add To iTunes" using 38.2 GB
*Automatically Add To iTunes* should be located inside the \iTunes Media\ or \iTunes music\ folder and no where else.
When you put files in that folder, they will be put into iTunes library and moved (not copied) in the the iTunes media folder.

If the *Automatically Add To iTunes* folder is not inside the \iTunes Media\ or \iTunes music\ folder, check and see if the music in there is in iTunes.
If so, you can delete the stuff inside the *Automatically Add To iTunes* folder then move that folder to the correct location.
Also how do I go about getting rid of my internal library to get back my internal GB space?
If you copied the \Music\iTunes\ folder to the external and it is working okay then you can drag teh \Music\iTunes\ folder from the internal to the trash. but don't empty it yet.
Launch iTunes and make sure songs play ok. If the do, you can empty the trash to ge tbacl all the space.

How do I go about getting the product serial number to register my product as well as install my product. I bought it with a product box. On the software disc sleeve, there is a series of numbers pasted at the bottom of the sleeves but this is not valid. When I tried to type this in for registration, it does register as this numbers also contain letters in it. Apparently the registration boxes accept numbers only. What do I do with a useless product for which I have paid good money for it?????
This is the simple solution which was offered to me when I tried to get the serial code on line.
The box and disc sleeve do not contain a series with 24 numbers which I presume is the product code to install.
I tried to redeem the registration code by following what they recommended, but inevitably it gets to the page that showed the registration boxes that need 24 serial numbers and I got stuck again.
This product is so different what my previous experiences of other software products where I just enter the serial number straight from the disc sleeve and then I got registered and go on to use the software.
I is really frustrating, spending the last two hours trying to get my product going.... -
My mom updated her iPhone to iOS7, and now she has my contacts. Does this mean that she has access to all of my photos as well? How can she 'unlink' our phones? Or, is there anyway that I can get my stuff to disappear from her phone? We share iTunes account so I think we are both on the same iCloud.

If you are using the same ID as a primary iCloud login, then yes she can see your photos in photostream if you have it enabled.
You can use the same ID for iTunes so you can share all your purchases, but you need different ID's for iCloud.
Unfortunately, the mess caused by sharing the ID, will need to be sorted manually, once you both have your own ID's. -
I have recently switched from a PC to a MacBook Pro.
I have a large number of documents and photographs on a multiterrabite external drive, backed up on a second multiterrabite external drive.
Both external drives are formatted for MacIntosh. This has been verified by agents at an Apple store and also at Best Buy in two different cities.
This is the problem:
The MacBook Pro will not allow me to cut-and-paste to and from or to click-and-drag to the external drive. I can copy-and-paste, but then I must send the original to the trash, which doubles the time and effort. Is there any way to cut-and-paste?
Also, the MacBook Pro will not allow me to rename multiple documents or photographs. I can click-and-rename a single one, but this is impossibly time consuming. I can batch-rename in iPhoto, but when I transfer the photographs to the external drive, the rename does not transfer.
I’m reduced to using my wife’s Toshiba to cut-and-past, rename, and transfer documents. It works perfectly. Is there any way to do this on the MacBook Pro?

No, this is a philosophical difference between Apple and Microsoft. Apple believes that it's dangerous to cut a file in case the user never pastes it; in that case the file is lost. Microsoft seems to not have this problem (if I remember Windows correctly) because they don't delete the originating file if it's cut but never pasted.
Even though Macs have a lot of keyboard shortcuts, philosophically Macs have traditionally been mouse-first. This applies to file copy operations. In your case, what a Mac user would do is open the source window, open the destination window (on your second drive), and then Command-drag the selected files from the source to destination window. This is because a normal drag would leave the originals behind, while adding the Command modifier key tells OS X that this is a Move, not a Copy, so don't leave the originals behind.
(In addition there are different rules for drag-copying within the same volume or between different volumes. If you drag between two folders on the same volume, the files are moved. If you drag between different volumes, the files are copied unless you hold down Command to delete the copies on the source volume.)

Two problems in this case. First, batch file renaming is not built into OS X unless you build something with Automator. However, there are many utilities that can do batch file renaming which you can find at macupdate.com or on the App Store. Since I work with media I often batch rename using one of the media managers I have lying around like Media Pro or Adobe Bridge (comes with Photoshop).
iPhoto is a database front end designed to shield the file system from the consumer and let them concentrate on creativity and sharing. As such it is often a poor choice for managing files directly. When you "transferred the photographs" chances are you moved the originals, not the ones iPhoto edited which are stored in a hidden folder.

There will not be a way to do it exactly like Windows. As described above, there are ways to do it "the Mac way." If it is possible to remove judgment on which way is "better" you might find the Mac way to be acceptable, but of course sometimes we simply prefer what we're used to. -

Just restore your bootable backup/clone or Time Machine backup.

A very good friend of mine dropped her iphone into water and now it is not working.Her husband recently passed away and text messages from him and from well wishers after his decease are feared lost. Is there any way to retrieve them?
I suggested contacting Compub in Nassau St as the info is priceless and worth the trouble of trying to regain?
Any thoughts? The poor lady is very distressIf she has backed up her iPhone she can replace that iPhone and set up the new iPhone from her backup.
You can put the iPhone that went into water into a plastic baggie with either new silica gel packets (preferred) or raw rice and let it sit for 4 - 5 days. After that time remove the phone and connect it to power for at least a half hour. While it is still connected to power reset it by holding down the power and hold button, wait for the Apple logo then let go of the buttons. Might take several tries. If it revives immediately back it up. -
Is there anyone at all here who has successfully compiled and deployed an SSRS custom report item in VS2012? Is there a demo out there that actually works in VS2012? Is there anyone who has actually been able to compile and deploy that
apparently obsolete Polygons demo? (Pardon my impatience but I'm running a bit short of time here.)
After much hacking and googling I was able to get Polygons to compile but I still can't deploy it to the toolbox. ('The custom report item type PolygonsDesigner is not installed'). I've modified the RSReportDesigner.config
as instructed but I have no rssrvpolicy.config file on my local machine and
as yet I have no idea if that is necessary for local development.
In order to get it to compile I first added the reference C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies\Microsoft.ReportingServices.ProcessingCore.dll to both projects.
To the PolygonsDesigner Project I also added the references:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies\Microsoft.ReportDesigner.Controls.dll
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies\Microsoft.ReportingServices.Designer.11.0.dll

It appears the documentation online is wrong and the sample code is missing a reference to a reporting services dll and an attribute.
What you need to do to get it working in VS2012 is add a reference to: Microsoft.ReportingServices.designer.11.0.dll to the PolygonsDesigner project and then add the following attribute to the PolygonsDesigner class: [ToolboxItem(typeof(Microsoft.ReportDesigner.Shell.CRIToolboxItem))]
I also removed the [System.CLSCompliant(false)] attribute.
You then recompile and place both dlls in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies directory and the PolygonsDesigner.dll into the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin
or what ever is you reporting services path.
You also need to change the Microsoft example for the rereportserver.config file to:

My network symbol keeps working on my home page even when I'm not doing anything, I know there has been problems in the past with this so has it come back, help it's killing my battery!
Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss) -
My daughter had an update for itunes which she did. She said that there was also an update for ipod but it had told her it failed. However, now when she connects USB cord it tells her she must restore. I am assuming that it updated to IOS 6. Is she going to lose everything on the device if she goes ahead and restores it? She does not have anything backuped in the cloud as she was not aware that this update would cause this issue.
If her iPod was backed up, she will lose the data on the iPod, but it could be restored from the backup.

It's not something I have tried before. Have you tried it, and what's happened?
Basically, copy/pasting tables is a bit of a problem - anywhere. Table formats are different in different circumstances - Excel, HTML, PDF, ...
If you copy a HTML table and paste it into an Excel sheet, the entire table will go into one single cell.
So most likely what you are trying to achieve will not work. -
Lost email groups from outlook, photos and music from Iphone four and Ipad2 when snycing to Icloud. Had to reconfgure Outlook Manually and then deleted Icloud. A warning to others that there are some bugs here or else it is not being exdplained properly to end users
or... put your photos in "My Pictures" in My Documents, and viola, itunes syncs it to the iphone. only one sentence needed =/

Hi there, I was sent here to try to troubleshoot the issues I am having with my Iphone 5. I purchased this phone in January 2013,
I have had issues with battery life almost from the start. I can have the battery charged fully and send a two word text and have the battery life decrease by at least 5%. When I called apple support, I was on the phone for 12 minutes and the battery went down 10% in that time.
The screen often freezes and won't let me scroll through the apps.
The phone often times won't turn on either.
I was directed to apple support online to try to remedy these issues and am having quite a bit of difficulty with the site, it's very frustrating.
I was told that it was a hardware issue by the Bell store I purchased the phone from, but the apple support telephone operator said I had to go through the online trouble shooting steps first.
Can someone walk me through this as I seem to keep getting booted out, cannot find the troubleshooting steps I was told about.
