Is there a MSE/Prime Infrastructure map legend?

I am looking for a legend for the maps in Prime Infrastructure.  I have found one, but it only has a few items on it.  I have many showing up on my maps along with numbers on the side of them.  Any document to reference would be great. Thanks!

  • Positioning APs on prime infrastructure map

I have a 3600i AP positioned vertically on a wall facing out. I know this is bad placement I am working on getting them all oriented with some new mounts for the type of office we have. How do I position this in terms of orientation and elevation. After I position the AP on the map and check the heatmap I am expecting to see low signal going behind the AP but it still looks like the AP is horizontal.
If the upper left is 0 degrees and my wall is on the right side of my map along the Y axis with the AP mounted facing back towards the left side of my map. What should my elevation and orientation be set to?

Please see the below link. It will describe how you can decide the elevation and orientation of AP.

  • Prime Infrastructure maps and API

Anyone know of a way to get map info from PI via API that allows you to associate APs to it?
I can get Sites which shows me the map names/structure along with apCount.
AccessPointDetails has a field called <mapLocation> however it only has the string description one liner location such as "default location".
I'm guessing that Sites has the DB links to what APs are associated, I just need a way to pull out which ones they are.
    Thanks.

    Alex, Suwa
You can still monitor interfaces with the following workaround (which works for me):
    Under Design > Monitoring Configuration:
From the tree on the left, expand Features > Interface Health
If needed, select the interface parameters to poll and the polling intervals, provide a name to your template and then click "Save as new template"
    Under Deploy > Monitoring Deployment:
Locate your template and click the green "Deploy" button
Select which devices you want to poll, or just select a group like "Routers", Switches etc.
That should do the trick and information should show up after few minutes.
    Hope it helps,
    Tomer
BTW- you can also perform the same for device health, by using "Device Health" Metrics template under "Design".

  • Prime Infrastructure map and 3702I Azimuth/Elevation setting?

If I have all of my 3702I ceiling-mounted, what should I set the azimuth and elevation to in the map to get the most accurate heatmap?

I suspect that you can point the AZ/EL indicators anywhere you wish and they will have no affect on the resulting heatmap when using internal antenna devices as most all are Omni directional globe shapes.  Although I usually settle for a big salad bowl.
Yes AM Survey is one of the only ways to determine the affects of all those stuffed cube wall cabinet and desk clutter has on signal scatter and absorption.
    enjoy

  • MSE 3355 / PRIME INFRASTRUCTURE 2.1

I'm integrating a Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1 with MSE 3355 for location services and wIPS. I have several questions that I could not clear and would like you to help me giving me some indication with the steps I must take to fulfill these tasks.
1- The Maps added to the CI 2.1 are not showing the location of the Rogue APs and Rogue Clients seen in the network.
2.- The AP Clients location is not showed in the Maps.
    3. I require to know what is the process for classifying Rogue APs in the PI 2.1.
    5. I get the message "Collection Failure" of three WLC in the Cisco Prime Infrastructure but the data that the message shows is collected normally.

I have already resolved this two points:
1- The Maps added to the CI 2.1 are not showing the location of the Rogue APs and Rogue Clients seen in the network.
2.- The AP Clients location is not showed in the Maps.
    I still have this questions:
    3. I require to know what is the process for classifying Rogue APs in the PI 2.1.
    5. I get the message "Collection Failure" of three WLC in the Cisco Prime Infrastructure but the data that the message shows is collected normally.
6.-We have this error message in the allocation profile for a WLC wIPS. (Note, this is WLC version 7.0.250.0)

  • Updating Cisco Prime Infrastructure Campus Maps

Our campus has changed significantly since we first created our maps, so I decided to edit the existing campus. Couldn't do it...got an error.
So, I created a new campus with a new campus layout image. I'm trying to move the existing buildings from the old campus to the new campus, but when I try I get the following error.
Error(s): You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:
Error:Unknown Exception Occurred. If the problem persists please send logs to the Tech Support.
Error:Detail: Row was updated or deleted by another transaction (or unsaved-value mapping was incorrect):[com.cisco.server.managedobjects.servicedomain.ServiceDomain#50255481]
As an additional note, I can a new building to the new campus and I can also move a building that has no floor plans in it yet. Pretty poor if this error means I'm going to have to duplicate my entire campus.
    Any ideas?

  • Prime Infrastructure 1.2.0.103 and Virtual MSE 7.3.101

    Hi,
I cannot integrate Virtual MSE 7.3.101 with my Prime Infrastructure 1.2
After I setup MSE via its wizard, I make a change on WCS username and password.
When I try to integrate MSE with Prime Infrastructure, Prime notify me about the mismatch username/password.
Both systems are fresh install on my UCS C220 M3.
Does anyone has the same issue as me ?
    Thanks,
    Pongsatorn Maneesud

    Hi Scott,
I decide to install a new Virtual MSE then after complete setup the initial wizard. This error appears,
when I check on the CLI of MSE, this message appears,
Does anyone can solve these issues ?
Need to resolve this since it gonna be on production soon.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure - Is there a report of unused switch ports?

    Hello,
Is there a report in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.4 showing the unused switch ports?
There used to be one in Cisco Prime LMS (Reclaim Unused Up/Down Ports Report).
    Thank you,
    Luke

    Hello,
I now have Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 running, and I don't see a report like the "Reclaim Unused Up/Down Ports" report that existed in LMS.
I found one called "Interface Capacity", but it only shows the number of ports that are "connected", "notconnect" or "disabled".
Does anyone know if a report of Unused ports exists in Prime Infrastructure 2.0 or if it will be available later on?
    Thank you,
    Luke

  • Network topology map Cisco Prime Infrastructure

Hi just want to inquire if it is possible to create a network topology map on cisco prime infrastructure's dashboard that will display both wired and wireless devices or do we need another cisco product to accomplish it.
    Thanks

At long last, Prime Infrastructure 2.2 was released yesterday (17 December 2014) and now includes the Topology map feature:
"Cisco Prime Infrastructure provides a visual map that allows you to view the physical network topology, including the network devices and the links that connect them. The topology maps have indicators that show the current alarm status of network devices and links. By using the network topology maps, you can easily monitor your network by viewing alarms and viewing the interconnection between the devices." (Link)
I'm migrating a system now and will open a new thread with first impressions.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure MESH LINK ISSUE

    Hi,
a Customer of us has a trouble with cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2.0.12 and AP mesh link.
There is an huge database ( i suppose the issue can be here ) and when we display some map ( each floor has about 6 RAP and 24 MAP ) we cannot see the MESH information and link draw.
The only way to dipley them is to disable "refresh from network": this way I'm able to show these link..... until a click before.
What i noticied when all was working fine, after i click to some floor:
    1) the software started to show the map with normal color and no mesh info displayed ( just ap and coverage cloud )
    2) after few time ( less than 1 second ) the map was becoming a little bit lighter and the mesh info was merged to the map
We are missini the second step
Anyone had the same issue ?
    best regards
    Luigi
PS: I opened a case with WCS version 6.0 ( same issue ) but, after some months, no risult. The last version working fine was WCS 5.2

Just to add some more informations:
    - disabling "refreshj from network" ( building properties ) the link and mesh info are showed
    - while I'm on a floor, after some refresh, i loose the mesh link draw and, if i click on an AP, i loose also mesh info in the popup. It' s like, after some refresh, the AP are no more recognized as Mesh ( !?!? )
    regards
    Luigi

  • Upgrade Prime Infrastructure v1.2

    Hello Support Community,
I want to upgarde my Prime Infrastructure which is in version 1.2 to a newer version (1.4 or 2.0) to be compatible with the version 7.5.102.0 of the contoller WLC.
Which version should I choose for the Prime infrastructure v1.4 or 2.0?
is there a cost for this upgrade?
I found some documentation on this topic but I need your help to clarify this point.
Thanks in advance for your response.
    Best regards

Yes.... PI 1.2 was not great and upgrading has caused many issues.... you can search the forum on that.  I always stand up a new VM and just export and import the floor maps and rehost the license.  The matrix shows you what WLC code that PI supports and what AP's PI supports.  You need to understand that as you might choose either PI 1.4.1 or PI 2.0.  PI 2.0 was built around converged access so since you have a Unified WLC, you should go with PI 1.4 and patch that to PI 1.4.1.
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • Cisco Prime NCS Mapping Question

I am trying to setup maps within Cisco NCS for a building.
I have done this many times in the past but it has always been with very straightforward rectangular maps.
This time I have a building which is separated into two parts - an office area and a warehouse (high ceiling) type of area.
The issue I am trying to get around is that they are connected through a long wall that  bends across the length of the entire structure (image below of whole space.)
If I just use the below map for the entire dimensions of the building the problem is that I can only set one ceiling height which isnt the case at all since the warehouse ceiling is much higher than the office area.
If I split these out and try to use two separate areas, I have to overlay them somehow to get them to line up properly, but then NCS gives me an error that the two areas are intersecting.
I am kind of at a loss on how to proceed from here but maybe there is an easy solution I am missing.
Anyone have any ideas on how to accomplish building this floor plan in NCS prime?  In the image below the L-shape turned on its side is the warehouse area.  And the office area is the lower part in an upside down Z shape.
    Thanks,
    Tim

Well, now that I have upgraded to Prime Infrastructure I still face the same problem.
Since it's been over a year I thought I'd see if anyone has come up with any people have any new ideas for me?
    Thanks,
    Tim

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 -- Third Party Devices

    Hello,
we are using cisco prime infrastructure 2.0. Is it possible to manage third party devices? (We have a lot of Enterasys Switches)
When i want to Archive the config of the device there is an error --> No Device Package found for the specific device.
It is necessary to install device packages for third party devices? Where can i find and install these packages?
    Thx in advance

it seems not to be on the road-map according to the functional /feature comparison between LMS and PI 2.0:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/netmgtsw/ps6504/ps6528/ps12239/guide_c07-729089.html
...and I doubt it will come (quickly) because config management has a lot of pitfalls and Cisco has a lot to do to get around all of them with their own devices..
However, Inventory Management for third party devices is on the road-map
older version of the document (feature comparison PI 1.2 - LMS 4.2) can be found here:
