  • Is there web publishing software for Mountain Lion?

I have searched the Apple Website and am finding iWeb to be unavailable. Is that true? How do you create a website with Mountain Lion?

I did make a list of alternatives a while back. Download from this page...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Why-iWeb.html
I didn't include this one which may be of interest to those who want an app that will run on Windows and Linux too for passing site maintainance over to others who don't have a Mac and for collaboration...

  • Are there no security updates for Mountain Lion?

I was just downloading updates for my wife's 2008 white MacBook and noticed that a Security Update was in the mix.  The MacBook is running Lion.  While I was doing that I checked my Mac Mini for updates to Mountain Lion.  Got notified of 10.8.5 update but no Security Update.  Come to think of it, I don't remember ever being notified of a required Security Update for the Mini.  Are they just buried in with other OSX system updates and too routine to mention?  Just curious.

Non-critical security updates for Mac OS X 10.8 are part of the regular OS updates.

  • Is there a multi-user sales of Lion upgrade in Appstore?

You could by a family package of 5 at a discount for past OS systems like Leopard.  Is that available for Lion, from appstore or other spot?
    Jim....

duh... I thought they would restrict per computer, but this make me since I was a bit at the cost of all the other software upgrades on my 5 macs.  Thanks!

  • Firewall gui for Mountain Lion Server

Is there an easy firewall for Mountain Lion server? Im amazed Apple took this feature away. For what reason? I dont know command line very well and shouldnt have to learn it seeing as how Macs are supposed to be "user friendly". Doing a port scan I see about 20 ports open that I want to close but just dont know how as they're not application specifc (like pop3...). Any suggestions would be helpful.
    thanks.

I totally agree with you, the whole point of OS X was to be easy to use i.e. GUI based, if we wanted a pure CLI system we would get Linux
There are actually two different Firewalls on Mountain Lion Server, the 'standard' one you see in System Preferences which is an Application level firewall (ALF), and has extremely limited options but does have a GUI, and the CLI only one which is pfctl (Packet Filtering).
Note: ipfw is depreciated in Mountain Lion.
There is a third-party tool for configuring pfctl called IceFloor. Be careful though, I managed to screw up a system with it, as always make sure you have a backup before making changes.

I have installed mountain lion on my early 2009 macbook (not unibody) and it is terrible, it's like owning a windows pc again (almost) What can I do? I paid for mountain lion, is there any way of giving it back and getting a refund? obvisoulsy after unintalling it. I couldn't see any reason why it would be bad for my particular macbook, and it downloaded without a problem.

In what way is it terrible? Mountain Lion is pretty stable. If you are having problems, most likely they are unique to your particular system and can be fixed. If you don't like some of the new features, that does not constitute reason for a refund.
If that does not suit you, you will have to discuss a refund with Apple, as they are the only ones who can say. Note that the App Store terms do say that all sales are final, so you are not guaranteed a refund, especially since whatever problems you had are not due to defective software.

  • Mail application is still there. All of my emails and folders are gone since iCloud. How can I get them back using Snow Leopard? Or can I? Do I have to wait for Mountain Lion?

Mail application is still there. All of my emails and folders are gone since iCloud. How can I get them back using Snow Leopard? Or can I? Do I have to wait for Mountain Lion?

I need to check a few other things...
Click on 'Mail' in the upper left corner next to the Apple ()
    Click Preferences
    Click the 'Accounts' tab
Make sure your iCloud account is highlighted in the column on the left.
In the account information section what does it say next to:
    Incoming Mail Server?
    Outgoing Mail Server?
Also, did you use MobileMe before the iCloud?

  • Are there any known conflicts between Mountain Lion and Microsoft Outlook for Mac? After installing, I can't send or receive eMails

Are there any known conflicts between Mountain Lion (10.8.3) and Microsoft Outlook for Mac? After installing, I can't send or receive eMails. Using a Macbook Pro.

Is this a recent problem or has it been going on for some time.  If you just updated to ML, you might want to confirm that you've update to the latest MS Office / Outlook patches.

  • Is there going to be a firmware upgrade for mountain lion customers that have a Macbook with a soild state drive so we can use the Power Nap feature?

Is there going to be a firmware upgrade for mountain lion customers that have a Macbook with a soild state drive so we can use the Power Nap feature?

    here: http://www.apple.com/osx/whats-new/
"Power Nap requires a Mac notebook with built-in flash storage. May require a firmware update."
We have to wait for the Firmware-Updates. Some are already here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5394
And I am shure, that you will need for Power Nap one of the newer Macs with SSD from 2011 and 2012.

  • Is there an iDVD for Mountain Lion?  If so, where can I get a copy?

I noticed that Mountain Lion does not have iDVD included.  Is there any way I can download iDVD for Mountain Lion or has it been discontinued.  I still have relatives that used DVDs.

Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it and how do I install it?

My wifi network is 802.11n but there are times changing for 802.11g, and have to restart ... after the update for Mountain Lion...  Help!!!
Several problems with Mountain Lion, APP STORE (login/logout error), WIFI(802.11n for 802.11g), MAIL (horrible)... Apple, what is happening?

Do a factory reset .. nothing will be deleted from your backups and you will be able to get access to them again.
    The Factory Reset Gen1-4.
Unplug your TC. Hold in reset. and power the TC back on.. without releasing reset for about 10sec. When the status light flashes rapidly; release it.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.

  • Is there a Pages 09 only update for Mountain Lion?

I have downloaded the iWork 9.2 update for Mountain Lion but can't use it as I have Pages 09 but Numbers and Keynote 08 and the update says the 08's are not compatible. I bought Pages 09 from the App store as a stand-alone, so surely I should be able to upgrade it on its own without Numbers and Keynote?

Are you using iCloud? Some of the initial sluggishness may be due to the initial screen referencing iCloud:

  • Unable to add/remove users in Mountain Lion Server (Options are greyed out)

For some reason, im unable to add/remove users in Mountain Lion server. The + and - are greyed out. It seems like something is wrong with the permissons because it looks like it cant write the the Ldav3 file (although that may be speculation). Does anyone have any advice for me? I URGENTLY need to add users.
Maybe theres a way to restore default permssions for the boot drive (if that in fact is the issue). Hopefully there is a way that I can fix this while leaving all users, groups, their permissions and shares intact.

Anything interesting and relevent in the server logs?
Anything interesting in the server alerts?
Since it's far and away the most common cause of problems with OS X Server and with distributed authentication (Open Directory is entirely based on network encryption and digital certificates and on responses from your local DNS server(s)), verify your local DNS configuration is working and requires no changes with the following Terminal.app (Applications > Utilities) harmless, diagnostic command:
    sudo changeip -checkhostname
sudo requires an administrative password.  You might get a one-time warning about the sudo, and that can safely be ignored.  The command will display some details, and indicate whether the local configuration appears valid and no changes are required, or further diagnostics for (most) common errors that can arise.

  • Dashboard Widgets for Mountain Lion

Mountain Lion still gives us Dashboard.
Many Widgets that I recently downloaded aren't accepted by the OS for security reasons.
Are there any Widgets that pass the Security and are available to users?
If so, it would be nice that they be identified as such for Mountain Lion.

I think that Gatekeeper isn't allowing you to install the widgets > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5290
In order to install the widgets:
    1. Right-click the widget file and choose Open, or:
    2. Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General, and choose "Anywhere" under "Allow applications downloaded from"

Trying to get on healthcare.gov site. People there said my problem was browser and that I need Internet Explorer (which I don't believe) Is IE available for Mountain Lion?

Internet Explorer was available for the first OS X versions, but it was discontinued.
What you can try is to get to the site in Internet Explorer mode. To do it, open Safari, go to Safari menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > Advanced, and mark "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Then, close your Preferences window, go to Develop menu (on the menu bar) > User Agent, and choose one of all the Internet Explorer options
