Is there a noticeable difference between 1.3 and 1.7 processor speed

Will I notice a difference between a 1.3 and 1.7 Hz MacBook Air?  I multitask with safari with multiple tabs and iTunes and Acrobat and PowerPoint. I'm not a gamer or won't be doing video editing.

On most things no.  Only 15% average on large app tasks
Here is an excellent video comparison between the 11” I5 vs. I7 2013 Macbook Air.

  • Is the 8gb worth it compared to the 4gb?  Is there a noticeable difference between a i5 and i7 core processor?

I am looking to buy a 13 inch mac book pro.  I know that there is a 4gb version with a i5 core processor and also a 8gb with a i7 core processor.  I am wondering if buying the upgraded one is worth the money.  I play World of Warcraft so I am also wondering if the upgraded one will play the game better.  Thanks.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The 13-inch MacBook Pro won't work correctly with the game. Go for a 15-inch MacBook Pro or an iMac. That's caused because of the GPU. The 13-inch MacBook Pro has only got an integrated GPU that isn't designed for games.
Apart from that, if you are decided to buy the 13-inch MacBook Pro, get it with 4 GB of RAM. You can upgrade it to 8 GB yourself and you will save money without voiding your warranty. Also, for games, you will note the difference with an Intel Core i7, even if the Intel Core i7 that has got the 13-inch MacBook Pro isn't the best i7

  • Is there any actual difference between Release, Debug and Debug Local configurations in SSRS project?

Is there any actual difference between Release, Debug and Debug Local configurations in SSRS project?
For example in VC++ Debug build would have all optimization turned off (by default) and included additional Debug information in executable.
Since there is no executable produced for SSRS - is there any actual difference between configurations? Or are they only for the purpose of deploying to different destination servers?

    Hi JoeSchmoe115,
The Project Configuration and Configuration Manager is a feature supported by Visual Studio, on which Business Intelligence Development Studio or SQL Server Data Tools is based. We can use Configuration Manager to create and manage sets of project properties
in project configurations. You are right that the project configurations is only for deployment purpose in a Report Server project.

  • Is there a noticeable difference between Dual Core i7 and Quad Core i7?

    Hi everyone.
I'm going to be a college freshman this fall. I'm looking at 13" MacBook with Retina Display with dual core i7.   I'm also looking at the 15" MacBook Pro with Retina Display with Quad Core i7. I want to major in science and have a concentration in photography, which means that I will run programs like Excel, PowerPoint (or keynote), and Photoshop.
Anyways, will there be a noticeable difference between a Dual Core i7 processor and a Quad i7 processor?
    Thanks!

Ceteris Paribus, the quad-core will be twice as fast as the dual-core.

  • Are there any technical Differences between stanard R3 and ISU

    Hello everyone,
I have recently been speaking to a client who is running ISU.  They are asking for assistance with thier landscape from a technical perspective (BASIS and DB).  i.e. monitoring db growth, reorgs, etc.
Now, I have been working in BASIS for over 10 years now, and am very comfortable with the above rols.  My question however is -  are there any "technical" differences between the standard SAP system, and ISU?  or are the differences mainly seen on the functional side?
Thank you very much for any insight any of you can provide.
    Kind regards
    Richard Rog

    Hi Richard,
I have been a Basis administrator for IS-U/CCS systems for 7 years.  The points Juris made are correct.
There are no new transactions or procedures for maintaining and monitoring an ISU system.  ISU "sits" on top of R/3.  The main ISU transaction for customer contact CIC0 has an HTML component that needs an ITS server.  In a 4.6C system you will need to maintain an external ITS.  In ECC 6.0 you will have an integrated ITS.  The main difference from a Basis perspective is support pack application.
In 4.6C ISU is an add-in installed in SAINT.  There are conflict resolution support packages (CRT's) that are installed at the same time the SAP_APPL support packages are applied.  In fact SPAM recognizes the ISU add-in and won't let you upgrade APPL (and sometimes Basis) support packs without the CRT's.
In ECC 6.0 IS-U isn't an add-in any more and has it's own support packs in module IS-UT.  IS-U must be turned on though during an installation or upgrade.  This is done in SPRO with "Activate Business Funcitons".

  • Is there a noticeable difference between a 1.83 and 2.00 GHz processor?

I am new to apple, and this will be my first Apple laptop computer. I am looking for a laptop that is powerful enough to run programs such as Adobe Photoshop (no more than one photo at a time) and other basic programs such as Microsoft Office. I will be doing no video or gaming. Can you tell me if there is a reason to upgrade from the 1.83GHZ to the 2.00 GHz processor? Thank you.

You are only looking at a difference of 170Mhz. As far as I know the processors are the same except for clock speed. I do not think that you will notice any difference in the two processors for smaller jobs like applying a filter in Photoshop or running a spell check in Office. The 2Ghz will edge ahead for longer term tasks such as editing and compressing video. If something takes 1 hour to compress into "quicktime" (IE. h.264) you may see the 2Ghz MB finish 10 minutes sooner.
Bottom line, from what you are describing, I do not think you will do anything that will be too terribly intensive to notice the difference in speed now. But I always advise to people to buy as FAST as they can afford. Your computer will stay faster for longer. In a few years that extra little bit of speed can come in handy as programs continue to becomes more complex. Somthing intaresting about your situation right now is that Both Office and Photoshop are not Intel native for the Mac, so they will need to be emulated by Rosetta. While it is supposed to be seemless, rosetta is emulated so it is slower. You will get a noticable boost in speed if you upgrade to the native (or Universal) version of these programs when they are made available.
OK, I have blabbed on enough. Hope this helps shed some light on things. (Personally I would go with the 2Ghz.)

  • Is there a size difference between Iphone 4 and Iphone 4S?

I want to buy a phone case for my IPhone 4, but, the case i want is only sold in size IPhone4S.
Do you think if i bought a 4S case for a 4, it would fit?
The only difference i believe there is between the phones, is that the volume buttons are slightly moved, will that matter?

That would depend on the case and iPhone 4 model.  The buttons and mute switch on the iPhone 4 ATT model are located a little bit different than the iPhone 4S.  The locations on the Verizon iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S are the same.  Most cases for the iPhone 4 and 4S now are designed to accommodate both setups, so chances are you won't have a problem.  If you have an ATT iPhone make sure the case has slots for the volume buttons and mute switch rather than small holes for the buttons and switch.

  • Is there any cosmetic difference between iphone 4 and 4s ?

can anyone tell me how if i am only looking at them cosmetically if there is an obvious difference ??

The volume buttons are slightly offset and the breaks in the aluminum band around the phone are slightly different. That's pretty much it. I'd have to look at them side by side, but there may be a slight visible difference in the camera lense as well.

  • Is there any architectural difference between CSC-SSM and AIP-SSM modules

    Hello security gurus!
I'm wondering if there's any chance to make Content security module (CSC-SSM) work as IPS (AIP-SSM). It seems to me they are absolutely identical in terms of hardware. Is there any chance to make CSC-SSM boot with the flash from AIP-SSM and have the ASA recognize it as an IPS module ?
    Eugene

    Zheka,
This is not recommended and you will loose support, these are different devices designed for different purposes, you will also have issues with the license, I have seen it one once, and the customer did it by mistake, the module eventually crashed and we had to add the proper image.

  • Noticeable difference between 2.6ghz and 2.7ghz Retina MacBook Pro?

I see its $250 extra to top-off the CPU for a 100mhz boost. Does anything else change like cache?  I find the upgrade price unreasonable.

The 2.7 GHz processor includes 8 MB L3 cache compared to the 6 MB L3 cache on the 2.6 GHz processor.  That certainly will help performance, so you may need to wait a while for the benchmarks that will compare both options.  Barefeats does useful benchmarks but I don't know when they'll publish results of course.  How you plan to use the laptop may determine if the faster processor and large L3 cache is important.  If it will be doing heavy lifting such as video processing, Final Cut Pro X video renders or other high-end software, then you want as much power as you are comfortable buying.
This machine is not user-serviceable in any way, so you'll never have a second chance to upgrade any of the typical components.  It's unusual in a laptop to design this way but it does allow for the thinnest Pro laptop on the planet.  You really should consider AppleCare since any 'repair' will be very costly if done outside the warranty period.
Given you can't upgrade it later, I'd tend to max it out if you can afford it.  As mentioned, the memory upgrade to 16 GB may be the best purchase upgrade you can do.  The SSD upgrade to 768 GB may or may not be important depending upon how you will use the laptop.  If it's your main computer but you have very large files such as video, you may eventually want an external drive using hard disks to store that kind of data.  As long as you consider that, then you may be quite happy with only the 512 GB SSD option.
This machine will be so beautiful and quite an impressive performer.  Good luck with your purchase.

  • Differences between 2 pass and 1 pass compressing in compressor 2.0

Is there a noticeable difference between 2 pass and 1 pass compression? It seems to me that sometimes 1 pass looks better than 2 passes. Strange...
    Thanks,

    Hey Girshon
this is more of a compressor forum question, but i can answer it here
theoritically, a 2 pass VBR encode is a MUCH better option if you are limited to space with VERY complex scenes. a cbr encode is optimal for short encodes, or encodes where you have NO space limitation. of course this is how most encoders work.
in compressors case, for SOME reason (unbeknown to me) a 2 pass vbr does not encode to a quality that where i can call acceptable, especially with accepatable bit-rates.
this problem has seemed to come in compressor v2. a lot of people that use this version of compressor seem to recommend a CBR in compressor or a 2 pass vbr IN DVD SP.
compressor v1 seems not to have this problem however. as a matter of fact, a lot of other DVD encoder, software or hardware dont seem to have this problem.
if you do a search for 2 pass vbr in the compressor forums, you will see all the quality problems associated with compressor 2.

  • Importing voice - is there a difference between MPEG 1 and 2?

    Hello,
I just bought a Digital Voice Recorder from Diasonic and want to upload a voice recording to Garage Band. It works on itunes and plays in the mediachooser in GarageBand, but cannot be placed as a new podcast track. When I look at the info, the only difference between my new voice recording and other podcasting I have downloaded from the Internet is that there is a difference between MPEG 1 and 2 (and my Diasonic uses MPEG 2). Can this be the problem? If so, what should I do?
    Very grateful for a response.
