Is there a Pages 5 manual?
Before downloading the new version of Pages I'd like to read more about it.
I didn't find a manual in Apple website.
Thank you for any help
There isn't any manual. It will link you to help on a web page and also the Mav help will tell you about Pages.
Read the threads created the last few days in this forum. You will much more information than any help file. Apple will only describe the positv new things, not all that is lost in this new Pages .
You can have both Pages 5.0 and Pages 09 on Maverick if you like and I advise that you do.

About every 1 1/2 hours, it automatically shuts down to cool off. Is there any way to manually turn it on? Or, do they have to be replaced?
I tried that with no improvement. I think I might have to have the fans replaced. do you know if this is a particularly difficult procedure? Something wierd that I've noticed is that if I have a video on for more than several minutes, the fans comes on, and also when I am on a Skype video conference for awhile. Otherwise, the fan jst doen't come on as the intels heaten up to the point the the auto shut down kicks in...any advise? This definitely interupts my work! Thanks for your help and input thus far!

I am creating a book and had 27 pages done manually off of an album , I wanted to add more pages but when I try to add a page nothing happens.
Select the book in the left hand sourcd pane and type Command +D (duplicate). Then do as Keith suggested to turn it into two separate books, i.e one with 1-50 pages and one with 1-57 to get all of the pages included in two about equal books.
The will have to be ordered separately with separate shipping charges.

Are there other Pages resources, templates, etc? First time here.
Please advise if there are Pages templates and other resources in addition to what Apple has provided. Thanks.
dmag,
Yes, there are other sites offering Pages-compatible templates, although they're not likely to be as attractive as the ones Apple provides. Still, you should check them out at iWork Community and Microsoft's Mac web set at Mactopia. Although the latter are made for Word, they usually open fine in Pages if the they have a .doc extension. If they don't, change the extension to .doc.

Good day. Is there into Pages the possibility to compare two documents? In order to reveal changes.
Hi iMayner,
I don't know of a way to easily compare two documents in Pages. Maybe there is an app to do this, but I don't know of one.
What you can do in Pages is to open both documents, resize the windows and drag them side-by-side on the screen. Pages 5 has a limit on how narrow you can make the windows, so this may be a bit of a pain.
The first step would be to show the Word Count in both documents. (Pages 5.5.1 Menu > View > Show Word Count, or click on the View button in the ToolBar and Show Word Count). If the Word Counts are the same, you have **some** confidence that the documents are identical, but no guarantee.
An example of two short documents with different word counts:
Document A (33 words)
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
Don't count your chickens until they hatch.
Don't cross your bridges until you come to them.
An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
Document B (34 words)
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
Don't count your chickens until they have hatched.
Don't cross your bridges until you come to them.
An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
To home in on that difference, copy and paste each document into a column in a spreadsheet such as Numbers or Excel, so that each paragraph becomes a cell in a column. Turn on Wrap text in cell.
The different heights of each cell (paragraph) become apparent.
Happy Christmas!
Regards,
Ian. -

Is there anywhere a technical manual for the NB100 ?
Is there anywhere a technical manual for the NB100 ?
I want to replace my internal harddisk with a bigger one and don´t want to destroy anything so a manual for the best way to open the NB100 would be a good thing :-)
colaThe upgrade is not that hard. There is no need to completely disassemble the unit. Remove the screws from the underside, then remove the cover at the top of the keyboard (the cover with the on/off switch on). Remove the screws from under the cover and then remove the keyboard, gently unclipping the ribbon. unclip the ribbon for the touchpad and the wireless aerials (x2). At this stage the HDD is accessible on the left side, remove the screws and gently pull the HDD out.
Once the new drive is fitted, reverse the procedure. I had no option but to replace mine, as I was on an overseas trip when the Toshiba HDD failed (the system was saying I had no HDD fitted) and as I had only taken the NB100 with me I had no choice if I wanted a working laptop for the trip, I stripped my external HDD and fitted it into the NB100, I now have a NB100 with a 250 GB HDD and it's perfect. -
Is there a Pages for MAC OS 10.7.x?
If not, what is the alternative?
Concrete issue is that I have received a ".pages" document and need to edit. I am running Mac Pro with OS X 10.7.
Many thanksIt is important that you determine if the .pages document originated from Pages ’08, Pages ’09, Pages v1.7.2 (IOS 6), or was exported as Pages ’09 from Pages v5+ on OS X Mavericks. If it meets one of these criteria, then you can edit the .pages document on your Lion machine with Pages ’09 from the iWork ’09 DVD. Pages documents can not be opened with TextEdit, but can be viewed with Preview.
On the otherhand, if the .pages document was created with Pages for iCloud beta, Pages v2.2.1 (IOS 7), or Pages v5+ on Mavericks, then your only recourse is to edit the document with Pages for iCloud beta. Since Fall 2013, Apple changed the .pages document format into something even more malevolently proprietary. Apple word processing products since this timeframe, are subsets of the Pages ’09 features/functionality, and will filter out content they do not support.
A Pages ’09 document is usually a compressed (zip) folder archive that looks like a regular file to the Finder. The newer Pages family of products only write out a package that to the Finder, also appears to be a regular file, but in reality it is a folder. The newer Pages documents must be zipped before placed on non-Apple filesystems. -
Is there a way to manually distribute dual CPU resources in Logic Pro 7?
Hi,
Most of the time you can see that only one of the two CPU is used in Logic Pro. When it's saturated, the sound clips and it's over Is there a way to manually distribute processes and apps between the two CPUs? This is possible in Win thru Task Manager, and should be possible in Mac, but I dont know for sure. Can anyone help?
thx.It is handled by Logic and OS X. Node'ing is the only thing you can really do to control distribution of CPU aside from running standalone apps as standalone apps and not using Logic to host them. Logic's Multiprocessor support is sort of adrift. One day it will work and a half hour later it is concentrated on the 1st processor and not sharing tasks. It is kinda broken for some people sometimes. You just kind of have to live with it for now.

My Ipod library is on a computer not connected to internet. Is there a way to manually put track info from cds once they are imported?
Right click - "Get Info", change the ID3 tag. You can copy and paste album art too.

I want to download pages, it won't let me. Says it need os x 10.9 or later…I have os x 10.8.5…all updates have been done. Why is this? what can i do? Is there another pages app i can use? thanks do i need to download maverick? thanks
Pages 5 requires OSX 10.9, for some reason that only Apple knows. Many users will not be able to install Mavericks on their Macs or do not want to.
It has simultaneously removed iWork '09/Pages '09 from the App Store.
You could ask Apple why it does things like this, but it doesn't say.
If you don't already have iWork '09 I believe you can still purchase it from Amazon.

I cannot access my settings from my iPhone. Is there a way to manually enable the backup from my iMac?
I don't quite understand why you can't access settings on your iPhone. You can back up your iPhone to your computer by connecting it to iTunes on your computer.

I just purchased my first iPad (the new one) and a wireless keyboard. Is there a keyboard usage manual available anywhere that shows the functions of the keys? The info that came with the keyboard was very basic and my searches have been unsuccessful.
If you are using a Bluetooth keyboard on your iPad device, you should take advantage of the keyboard shortcuts for quicker access to copy, cut, paste, undo, redo, and other commands.
Command + C : Copy Selected Text
Command + V : Paste
Command + X: Cut Selected Text
Command + Z: Undo
Command + Shift + Z: Redo
Command + Delete: Delete everything to the left of the cursor on the current line
Option + Delete: Delete the word to the left of the cursor
Command + Up Arrow: Go to top of document
Command + Down Arrow: Go to bottom of document
Command + Left Arrow: Go to beginning of current line
Command + Right Arrow: Go to end of current line
F1: Dim screen
F2: Brighten screen
F7: Back one song
F8: Play/pause song
F9: Skip song
F10: Mute
F11: Decrease volume
F12: Increase volume
Eject button: Show or hide onscreen keyboard
Cheers, Tom
