Is there a "Photo stack" in elements 11?

This is available in CS4 and CS 5 for several  macro shots where the focus is varied i.e. on a subject close to camera, or in a differenct part of the image. Is there an option for this inPSE11?

No, this is one of the features adobe keeps for PS. You will need a third-party solution.

is there a easy way to remove duplicate photos in Photoshop elements 4, i have over 20,000 photos but really only 5000-6000 and 3-4 duplicates of each and i think they have been renamed and haven't found a duplicate photo/file remover that will do it any suggestions

    John,
I have PSE 4 on an old laptop so I took a quick look and my conclusion is no v4 does not have Suggest Photo Stacks.
Find with Visual Similarity is in v4 and I did do a Catalog > Recover with the build Similarity Index choice as preparation for using that Find feature. However using Visual Similarity on any signficant number of photos would seem very tedious.   Of course it could be done systematically on a few photos each time over an extended number of days - but still tedious.

I have Photoshop Elements 12 for both PC and Mac (I use both). I have a new camera, Nikon D810. I downloaded the latest version of Camera Raw, 8.8. My D810 is listed as a supported camera model. However, when I try to open a raw photo in Photoshop Elements, I keep getting the message "Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw. I have tried reinstalling Camera Raw many times, and have tried to open many different raw files in Elements, and still get the same error message. Please help.

How did you try to install ACR 8.8.  The only way I know of that works with Elements is to use the Updates Choice on the Help menu.
There are two charts supplied by Adobe that explain your RAW dilemma.  This one tells you what your camera needs:  http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html   This one tells you what version of software you need:  http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
In your case, the Nikon D810 needs Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 8.6 or Lightroom 5.6.  (Congratulations on buying a new camera!)
To get to that level with Photoshop Elements, you will need to replace your Photoshop Elements 12 with version 13.   Adobe caps ACR updates on version 12 at 8.5.
The most convenient way to get around it without spending any money is to use the FREE from Adobe DNG Converter.  Download and install it from here for FREE:  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=5855&fileID=5890  Once it is installed you can convert your D810 raw files to an Adobe RAW version with the .DNG file extension that most, if not all, versions of the various Adobe software programs can use.  That includes old versions of Photoshop, Elements and Lightroom.  DNG converter can be used as the tool to move your files from your memory card to your computer, is efficient, will convert in batches and is completely lossless.  There is no risk of any image quality degradation or RAW functionality.

  • Deleting a photo from Photoshop Elements 11 editor

I deleted a photo from Photoshop Elements 11 organizer. How do I delete it in Photoshop Editor?

Nothing is actually "in" the editor. It's just like most other programs you might use to open a file, not like organizer that's making a database of your photos.  Just close it there, either from the image window or tab's close button, or by pressing ctrl+W (command+W on a mac).

When you say Elements 9 do you mean Photoshop Elements, Premiere Elements or the Elements Organizer?
Technically there is no program called simply Elements.

I have set up my photos in Adobe Elements 12 organiser and wish to download them to Snapfish in order to create a photobook, but it seems I am unable to do this.  Adobe do not provide a hardcopy photobook service.  Can anyone help me please?  I don't want to have to reformat all my photos.  It has taken me the whole week to do it in Adobe Elements.  I was unaware that Adobe no longer have this service as it misleadingly appears that they do.

You are in the wrong forum.  We don't do Elements here.
This is the Photoshop proper forum.  There's no "Organizer" (American spelling) in Photoshop.
    The "Elements" forum is here:

Incidentally you are not addressing Adobe here.
I've been using Adobe products for very, very close to 30 years, and I have never hear of an "Adobe photo book service".

  • How can I move my photos from Photoshop Elements 8 to a new computer also running Elements 8?

How can I move my photos from Photoshop Elements 8 to a new computer also running Elements 8?

I am not sure this is going to work. For one thing, the preferences file is in a different place in Mountain Lion. It is at: ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.pli st. I wouldn't try to move the .plist file, I'd be very surprised if it would work.
I would do a different approach and start with just recreating the mail account(s) you have on the new machine from scratch and let them download your mail from the server. Then if there were e-mails not on the server any more, but stored in the black macbook, I'd copy them from the mailboxes folder, from the old machine to the new. I'm not sure where they are in 10.5.8, but in ML they are at ~/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes.
At each stage along the way I'd do a backup, so in case it screws things up, you can revert to a functional Mail.app.

  • Problem sync photos from Photoshop Elements since iTunes 7

I have been having problems syncing my photos ever since Apple launched iTunes 7 and iOS 6. I run Windows 7, I sync my photos from Photoshop Elements to the iPad 2 and the iPhone 3GS. I never had problems with the sync prior to the September changes by Apple. What happens is that only a portion of the photos that I have earmarked for sync in their respective selected albums are making it to the devices.
In terms of troubleshooting, I have tried many things to no avail. I have tried to add a new photo to an album to sorta kickstart a sync. I have deleted the iPod photo cache from the Elements Organizer. I have removed photos from the device. I have tried syncing without syncing Photos.
None of these have worked. It's pretty clear that there is a glitch in Apple's updates, which will need to be addressed along the way. Photos traveled seamelssly in this method until the September updates.
Anyone else experience this, or have any last-dash ideas? It's pretty frustrating.

Of course, by "iTunes 7", I meant "iTunes 10.7", but can't seem to edit my OP.

  • Do photos tagged in Elements 6 (Win) import accurately via Bridge (Elements 8 - Mac)

I have thousands of photos that I have managed using Adobe Elements (Win) and am now moving to a Mac.   Will Adobe Elements 8 (Mac) using the included Adobe Bridge properly carry-over all the tags that I have assigned to the photos over the years.   I have 'written' these Tags & keyword properties' to the files using the function in Elements 6.

There are usually not many Elements users around here. But the easiest way
to find out is to make a copy of a randomly chosen amount of files from
different data and try those copies your self in Bridge to see if they
reflect all the data you want.

  • Can Digital Camera Photos in PS Elements be Used in Pre Elements?

I have digital photos from my camera saved in my PS Elements program. I want to convert them to a slide show DVD for viewing on a television. I am entirley new to Pre Elements but as I read and look at the tutorials I note they only talk about movie videos which can indeed be converted to DVD's.for television viewing. Can I assume that I can use a digital photo in place of a video strip and follow the directions given in Pre Elements for video strips to accomplish my objective? Or, am I tryng to do somethng Pre Elements is not designed for?
I am using Pre Elements 4 with Photoshop Elements 6.0 on a Vista system. I would greatly appreciate any guidance provided.
    Sanray19

In Photoshop Elements 6 how did you save your stills, as .jpeg or .psd? I will not get into a discussion on that now, but the party line is each Save As for .jpeg creates degradation which you avoid by using the still saved as .psd (flattened when ready for use).
Then you need to plan your strategy...
create your slideshow in Photoshop Elements 6 (can include video there, but cannot edit the video there), output it to Premiere Elements 4, using the Output option = Send to Premiere Elements. Once the slideshow is in Premiere Elements 4, you can right click the transfer on the Timeline and select Break Apart Slideshow to give you more editing opportunities. After Edit, you can create an AutoPlay DVD-VIDEO or a DVD-VIDEO with menus.
Main thing to remember is that Photoshop Elements is the photo editor and Premiere Elements is the video editor. I do recommend use of the Timeline in Premiere Elements 4 because I feel it gives you more control since you can see what you are doing better.
You do not have to use Photoshop Elements 6, except for editing your photos. You can use Premiere Elements 4 to create the presentation (stills and videos) as well as generate the DVD-VIDEO. There are always discussions on which way to go. There are some user friendly features of Photoshop Elements (pans & zooms, fit audio to slides...) that push some people that way first. But, Premiere Element does allow you the pans or zooms by presets or by keyframing.
Whatever you do, do not get caught in the oversized photo trap. Please read Steve Grisetti classic FAQ about Photo Resolution:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/431851?tstart=0
I would suggest the you learn the basics of Photoshop Elements 6 Premiere Elements 4 first by going through the program's Help PDF Getting Started. Once you are comfortable about that, do some mini project before attempting the grand project. And, if you run into problems doing your mini runs, just ask questions. Just about everyone has been there and done that.
I will be looking forward to your progress.

  • Import photos iPhoto - Photoshop Elements

    Hello,
I'm using Photoshop Elements 12 trial version. I would buy it but i got one problem with the automatic import function in Photoshop Elements.
On the first start of Photoshop Elements, it asked me if I want to import all my photos from iPhoto. So I did import all photos.
In iPhoto my photos have been organizes like this:
    > April (folder)
    > Mai (folder)
         - Wohnung (event)
         - Exkursion Werder (event)
    > Juni (folder)
    > Juli (folder)
          - Exkursion Schweiz (event)
But now in Photoshop I got this:
    > 20110908-192729 (folder)
    > 20110908-192733 (folder)
    > ... (and so on)
Is this really the way Photoshop Elements imports all my photos? Do I really have to organize all my thousands of photos again?

I wanted to use Photoshop Elements Organizer and Editor only and not continue to use iPhoto because it’s very slow.
Do you think it would be easier if I just continue to use iPhoto as the Organizer and use Photoshop Elements Editor as the editor?
Seems there is no way to import iPhoto albums and events to Photoshop Elements Organizer.

First of all, are you certain you want to ditch iphoto permanently? It's not necessary to do that unless you wish. So are you sure that you no longer want iphoto at all?

  • I can't access my iPhoto or Photos libraries with Elements 11.  Elements say it can't open those files?

I am using Elements 11 on a Mac.  I cannot access any of the pictures in my iPhoto or Photo libraries.  Elements says it cannot open those files.  There must be a way, but I can't find it.  I'd appreciate a solution.  Thanks.
    Friarahs

No, you should never poke around in the iphoto library from outside iphoto. That's the fast track to corrupting it and losing all your pics. If you want to use iphoto with PSE you can either set PSE as your external editor and send the photos from iphoto or do it the way you have to do it with Photos (no choice with Photos):

  • I have trouble in moving photos into Premier Elements 9

I am using Premiere Elements 9 on a IMac with 24ins screen and the latest operating system.Looking at my photos in Organiser or Photoshop Elements 9 they are of the original quality ,but when I import photos into Premiere Elements they are greatly degraded.I have tried deleting the programe and reinstalling twice,I have the programme on the original DVDs. Can anyone help.

Have a look at my FAQ to the right of this forum.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/431851?tstart=30
As I explain in greater detail in my books, video is of a much lower resolution than most photos. So it doesn't matter how large the photo you drop into a video editor, you get roughly the equivalent of 640x480. That's video resolution. (If you're using hi-def, you get more -- but still nowhere near what you get in print photos.)
Using photos that are larger than 1000x750 pixels, then, not only overloads the program, but it's usually a waste of time too (since they take longer to render). You'll still only get 640x480 pixels (actually 720x480 non-square pixels) when it's converted to video.
Also remember to render your timeline (press Enter) every time you add a photo to it or there is a red line above your clips. When this red line turns green, you'll see a much better representation of what your final output will look like rather than a low-rez soft render.
