Is there a Premiere Pro User Group in the Detroit area?

I'm an FCP refugee, working now with Premiere Pro via my Creative Cloud subscription. Sometimes it would be nice to connect with like-minded creatives in an earth-bound forum. Anyone in Metro Detroit in the same situation?

I've never been a fan of the "replace with..." workflow. I like to set up my After Effects project independently and then import that into Premiere. When you do that, it asks you to select the comp to import. That way I can create multiple versions in AE and import into Premiere as I wish.
When I want to work on a specific clip in Premiere, I reveal it in Explorer/Finder and then import it into AE.
It's a more manual process, but doesn't really take much time in practice and it's one that gives me more control over the workflow and keeps things organized (I can have a single AE project contain all the live links I need in Premiere.
Edit: You can also copy a clip from Premiere and paste into AE. Depending on its state in Premiere, it may paste into an existing comp as video, or it may paste as a precomp (to best maintain its settings from Premiere). I found the pasting a bit clunky, so I go full manual with importing the clip into AE and copy pasting timecodes from Premiere for in/out points.

I can't say enough good things about Redmatica, and Andrea in particular.
I've found and reported a handful of issues I found in Keymap, and in each case I had the issue confirmed, and a new build sent to me at most within a couple of days, often much sooner, with the issue fixed. If only Apple were more like that...
Keymap is a stunning piece of software that, in conjunction with Logic (or other soft samplers) make creating sampled instrument content (almost) a pleasure.
Have a good one - do you video these sessions for people who can't attend..?

How to check the Sharepoint User group of the current user in infopath

hi,
i have a published infopath form in which there a field ( people and groups). so i am storing the user account name using the GetUserProfilebyName.
below is how i am setting the values of the field EmployeeName(People & Group).
set fields value : DisplayName = Value[Name="PreferredName"]
set fields value : AccountId = Value[Name="AccountName"]
for getting the groups details i created new connection http://servername/_vti_bin/UserGroup.asmx?WSDL and selected GetGroupCollectionFromUser.
i also updated the xsd file.
so how to get the SharePoint Group of the user which i saved to the EmployeeName field ?

Hi,
You can set up the User group in the column Groups. But before that you need to create a group using T-code SUGR and assign that group to the user in SU01.

I'm trying to import a sequence into premiere pro and suddenly a few sections are 'media offline'

I'm trying to import a previous premiere pro sequence into premiere pro and suddenly a few sections are 'media offline' (it has always worked up until now). I would be able to relink the clips but the offending ones aren't showing up in the project's clip bin. To make things worse I can't drag and drop the corresponding clips from my finder into the clips bin and then 'replace clip with' in the timeline, as the clips in the project have been renamed, and are synced up to audio (this is a 90 minute feature film).
Can anyone help??!!

Right click on the offline clips and select Reveal in Project. This will call up the bin they're in, where you'll be able to relink.

Thanks for posting that screenshot. It appears that you have opened your Sequence Settings for a DV-NTSC sequence and have made a circle around the "Edit Settings" button.
Since you chose to create a DV sequence, you cannot change those settings.
Do you have DV NTSC clips? If so, these are the correct settings.
If you do not have DV NTSC clips, do not be concerned. Just create the sequence.
Once you drag a non-DV clip into the DV sequence, it's OK.
You have the option of changing the Sequence Settings to match those of your clip in a new dialog box.
Click "Change Sequence Settings" in the dialog box.

Premiere Pro CS6 importing .mp4 = "The file has no audio or video streams."

Hi,
When I import an MP4 clip into Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, I get the following message:
"File Import Failure
151_0010_01.mp4
Error Message
The file has no audio or video streams."
I have the latest Quicktime, and I have reinstalled Premiere Pro CS6 a few times already. If anyone knows a fix for this, I would greatly appreciate it. My system and clip info are found below. Thank you, Robert.

I encountered a similar problem. I had quicktime files that would play in the quicktime player from the desktop, but wouldn't import the files "the file has no audio or video streams". I had just reinstalled quicktime, and Premier with no change. Finally realized that we had Barracuda protection that was at fault. It was preventing communication to the quicktime codec and thus Premier could not interpret the footage. Another symptom, I would also launch After Effects and it would tell me that quicktime wasn't installed.
I solved this by uninstalling Barracuda. We reported the fault to Barracuda, and have not seen any change in the software.

HELP! Premiere pro could not retrieve the 'my documents' folder location?!

I just installed Creative Cloud and downloaded Premiere CS6.
When I start it, I get two dialogue boxes saying the same thing...
"adobe premiere pro could not retrieve the 'my documents' folder location. The application will make use of a temporary folder for this session..."
When I then go to export to Media Encoder, it crashes repeatedly.
I am unable to find the My Documents folder on my system - it's a new system and must have been set up strangely.
Can someone please help here as I am unable to run my video editing business when I can't export files!
