Is there a Printer Selection Plugin?

The problem:
Printing to different printers in a studio from different apps; (b/w printers, colours printers, plates, with different presets, ie staple, booklet, double sided, features).
It becomes a chore to go to print > printer > choose printer
and choose presets, when having lots of different jobs.
I am hoping quark 7 does away from going in the printer menu and choosing presets, and puts them into the 1st print menu, but its not on the beta.
I really want to do away from this second printer menu, why dont developers implement drop down menu system into the main print menu.
Is there a finder contextual type menu that allows easy selection of printers, and quick preset in a submenu for that printer?. This method would be faster for me and many others.

Do you have your sets of Presets saved, so once you get the Print dialog box, you just have to chose the printer and the appropriate printer Preset set?
It might be nice to have the Preset set go with the document, but it might cause problems, as well. You would certainly have to save the document each time you change the presets.

Well, I looked for where to delete this but didn't see it.
NEVERMIND; I forced iPhoto to quit and restarted and everything seems fine.
BTW, I did get one thing wrong. When I looked at both iPhoto libraries with FINDER, the active one and the archived one both showed content as far as file size goes.
It was because I was viewing the files through Adobe Bridge that it was showing 0 GB's; for whatever reason.

Photoshop CS4 printer selection failure

Wondering if anyone might know what's happening here....
Using Photoshop CS4, Windows 7 SP1, Novell Network Printers.
There are 2 problems:
1) In the print dialog box, no matter what printer is selected, the page setup button has settings for a different printer.
2) After clicking print on the print dialog box, the system print dialog box has the wrong printer selected. The selected printer is random depending on what printers are installed. It is not the default printer necessarily.

I am not understanding what your trying to do or the steps. When you install the plug in your saying there should be your printer listed in PS CS4 Export as a option to choose from? Do you have a 64 bit OS? If so my guess is that it is only a 32 bit plugin option and maybe you installed it in the 64 bit plug in folder? Or the opposite?

Is there a alternative to Plugin-container (or a way to disable It)?

Is there a alternative to Plugin-container? It just showed up In my system processes when I updated to Firefox 3.6.6. I've never had problems with plugins crashing but ever since plugin-container.exe crashes have happened more frequently and plugins like Adobe Flash are now taking a lot longer to load. I have an older computer and I noticed plugin-container Is a different process and takes up a large amount of memory, didn't have that problem before. Is there a way to disable It? Even though Its suppose to resolve problems, I've never had any before and now that I have It I'm having problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can set the prefs dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.* to false on the about:config page to disable the plugin-container process.

Invoice Print Selected Invoices program is failing when language is not US

Hi All,
I am trying to run "Invoice Print Selected Invoices" for multiple languages.
When language in customer setup under "Account Site Information" is 'US' then EN-US: (Invoice Print Selected Invoices) is completing successfully.
But when I am changing the language from US to some other language let’s say "F”, then "FR-FR: (Invoice Print Selected Invoices)" getting submitted and it is completing in error.

Printer selection dialog on client

I have to fire a print out from a jsp page.
I am using java.awt.PrinterJob, Printable and Book classes for the print.
When I call the PrinterJob.printDialog(), the Printer Proerties selection box
is popped on the server.
Is there any way I can pop up the printer selection dialog box on the client machine?

You won't be able to use a java class to open anything on your client.
Your java program runs on a server and builds HTML for the client browser. You can either do as Zetor suggested and put print functionality in an applet, or include javascript in the HTML page you build that will do your printing.

Servlets is executed in the server, for that reason it appears to you the window of impression in the server, and not in the client.
In order to print in the client I suggest one to you of these 2 solutions:
First solution: When the user wants to print something, he creates a new window of the browser with a page HTML that contains what you want to print and to print it from there with javascript. Something complicated if it is not known like doing it. See the javascript code window.print();
Second solution: To use the program Crystal Reports. The quality is excellent, but it is necessary to buy it.

How to print selection only

I saw this question on another forum and realized that I have no idea how to print 'selection only'. The only options in the file>print menu are for the pages desired. I see no way to print only the selected portion of a page. There must be a way, but I do not seem to be able to find the answer.

I tried it with 'Grab' but the printout was too large. I then discovered that if you use 'Snag It' you can accomplish the same thing. Press Shift-command-3 for the whole screen or Shift-command-4 for a part of the screen. this creates a PNG image which when opened in 'Preview' can be printed. Rather complicated, but it does work. Thanks for steering me in the right direction.

How to print "selected objects" in InDesign CS4?

I have a large calendar in ID CS4. I want to print and view some of the text in its actual size. My printer can only print A4 documents. How can I print only selected texts and objects in its actual size in this application?
Although copying and pasting the text in another A4 sized document (IDCS4) would do it but there is no native support of "printing selection" but Microsoft's "Word' has!

I think the layer option is best.
Select what you want then open the layers panel and create a new layer. Select the objects you want to print, then in the layers panel you will see a small square to the right of the layer name. Alt Drag that to the new layer to copy the items, you can then turn off the visibility to the other layer and just print out the new layer.
Then switch the visibility of the layers around to view the original artwork.

For a migration I have to replace the command

I need an implementation based on JDK 1.3.
Inside of the JDK 1.3 exist only a simple printer dialog.

Probably exist the option to use the C-API of WebUtil. The C-API could be used to start a printer dialog of a dll. I like to avoid this option, but if you an example for that option, I appreciate to see an example for that.

The only thing that i found in forum was that you can read the standard printer out the registry. But I would need all local installed printers.

Printing Selection Variant in Report Painter

Hi, I am using ECC 5. There is a requirement for printing the selection variant in Report Painter (GR55) Reports. Presently there is a provision to print selection fields and values.
Is any way, I can print a Selection Variant and Name in Report Painter? I understood that the information is stored in Table VARIT. This table contains Lang., Report Name, Variant and Short text. I do not know how to get this info in Report screen.
Can any one help?

Hi,Thanks for your reply. Let me explain.
When using Transaction Code GR55, enter Report Group, Execute. This will open a Report Paramenter screen. In this screen, if you select Goto --> Variant --> Get OR Get Variant icon, this will show the available selection variants. Select any one of them and run report.
In report it will pick-up the each selection paramater field and value NOT a variant.
Is any way to get the variant also printed in report?

Printing selected pages of a PDF to Adobe PDF

I have Acrobat 9, Windows 7, and was happily creating new files from existing PDFs by printing selected pages to Adobe PDF. After having done this a hundred times or so, the process stopped working. I got this message: "When you create a PostScript file you must rely on system fonts and use document fonts. Please go to the printer properties, 'Adobe PDF Settings' page and turn OFF the option 'Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts.'" Then I get a message, "The document could not be printed." Then I get a message, "There were no pages selected to print."
First, I wasn't having any problems up to this point; second, I'm not trying to create a postscript file, I'm just trying to print to Adobe PDF (as in, just page 3 of a six-page document."

I downloaded the Arcobat SDK and now learning to use it with its sample.
However, I got stuck when I run the program BasicIacVB.
I got the following error message:
Cannot create ActiveX component.
When running the line
gApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
I run this program on my PC with VS2005 installed.
What extra step do I need to do to use the sdk?
Seems there's no installation package there...
Sorry about my stupid question, I am a total newbie in AcrobatSDK.
P.S. My ultimate goal is to develop the program in VB6 (not using VB2005),
as my client PCs does not (and cannot for some reason) install .net framework.

Preview Scan Location and Print v Print Selected

1. where do I set which folder Preview puts my scans?
2. Print v Print Selected: Is there a way to get Preview to print all the pages when I go Print and then I end up pulling down to "pdf" to print a pdf?! For the umpteenth time I have scanned a 50 page document, gone to print a pdf of this scan, and accidentally hit "Print" (go figure) instead of selecting all the pages (!?) and hitting Print - and then of course pulling down the pdf and going to Save As pdf.
Print defaults to print only the selected page ?! and Print Selected Pages works if you select all the Pages? I have to scan the whole darn document again...What am I missing?

The default Pages setting in the Preview print dialog is set to all pages. You have to manually change this setting to selected pages/range.
If yours is set to the selected pages setting then check that you are not using a Preset. If no Preset is being used then close Preview and try trashing the file "com.apple.Preview.plist" in your users Library > Preferences folder. Then re-open Preview and select to print a document to check the setting.

Firefox 17 on Windows 7 prints blank pages after printing selection

I need to be able to highlight text on a webpage and print only that text using the print selection inside the file/print tab. However, instead, I am getting only that highlighted text AND then blank pages (with headers and footers) keep printing (how many pages that print depends on the actual size of the webpage).
I have Windows 7, 32bit and Firefox 17. I updated Firefox this morning and restarted but the problem still exists. I did not have this problem when I had Windows XP.
The print selection works properly in IE9.

Before learning about the above, I wrote a small script to isolate the selection for printing. I wouldn't use it if you are filling in a form, making a purchase, etc., since the script duplicates part of the page and this may break the form. On the other hand, at least there is some level of undo without reloading the page.

(2) Right-click the Bookmarks Toolbar and choose New Bookmark. (If you do not ordinarily display the Bookmarks Toolbar, you can add it to the menu instead. Whatever will be convenient.)

PLUG-INS not always loading - - Coupon Printer Manager plugin has crashed

I am running Windows XP SP3 and all updates are current.
For weeks, running 7.0.1, 8.0.1 or 9.0.1, whenever I try to print coupons at the www.coupons.com website, I have difficulty and consistently I receive the following Firefox ERROR message...
"The Coupons Inc. Coupon Printer Manager plugin has crashed"
...and I always SUBMIT a REPORT to Mozilla.
This website is suppose to invoke the following plug-ins...

...and using Task Manager I watch to see if the Image column shows one or two plug-ins appear - of course, I don't know which ones - see below for additional info. Most of the time only one plug-in appears and then the website asks me to INSTALL the software (again). When two plug-ins appear (again, I do not know which), things run okay for the first coupon - however around 50% of the time I am unable to print a second, third, etc, coupon.

I have disabled each of these add-ons to see if anything improves, but nothing does. This does not surprise me since I have been running the same ADD-ONS for months and this problem has only started happening over the past few weeks.
I have uninstalled the Coupon Printer plug-ins, scrubbed my Registry, and then reinstalled them (with FF closed, as well as opened, of course), and that does not help either.
Sure would like to RESOLVE this FF problem.
I am wondering if there's a PLUGINS setting that needs tweaking, and on that note, I have tried setting...
dom.ipc.plugins.java.enabled
...to TRUE (where default is false) and that does not help either.

Sorry, a resolution isn't going to easily or come from Mozilla.
4 out of 5 of those crashes were directly caused by the Coupons, Inc. Coupon Printer DLL = npMozCouponPrinter.dll
The developer of that plugin is going to have to fix it. Contact the Coupon website to find out how to report a bug with that plugin.
