Is there a problem with the itunes and quick time download pages or is it my internet.
Is there a problem with the itunes and quicktime download pages or is it just my internet.
Some more developments ... the issue appears to be browser-specific. I can't see the download controls at the moment in either IE 8 (I'll get your message) or Safari for Windows 5.0.5 (I'll just get the blank box). But I can see the download controls in Firefox 4 and Chrome (whatever version I have of that).
So it might be worth installing Firefox and seeing if you can get the downloads via that:

Hello Makiaveli,
It sounds like you are getting this error code when you are trying to access the iTunes Store.
I found this article with this error listed in the symptoms section, for you that should help troubleshoot the issue named:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123
Resolution
The cause for these issues is a program that monitors the Winsock protocol for Windows conflicting with Apple software. These programs usually use a Layered Service Provider (LSP) that can help identify the particular program installed. The programs that monitor this protocol have a variety of purposes, including security software, content filtering, and optimization of network traffic.
To find the LSP:
Download Autoruns for Windows from Microsoft
Look for Autoruns.ZIP and open the compressed folder.
After reviewing the contents and the license, drag autoruns.exe to the desktop.
Open Autoruns.
Click on the tab that says Winsock Providers.
A list of items should appear. A column showing the publisher should be available.
For items other than Bonjour, which is from Apple, check with the publisher for updates to resolve the conflict between their software and Apple software.
If the publisher is unfamiliar to you, you may be able to use the table below to find out more information about the origin of the modifications to Windows.
Some of the publishers and programs that are known to have versions with a conflict are listed below:

Once you've identified the third-party software that installed the LSP, you should check for updates. If the software is your security software, see iTunes: Troubleshooting security software issues for additional information.
Bytemobile is usually associated with cellular data connection software. You may want to check if your provider has instructions to disable or uninstall that portion of the software, such as these instructions from AT&T.
Note: If unsure on the origin of your LSP, you may try to locate vendor information to determine which software is responsible for the non-default value here.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iPod connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Problems connecting to iTunes store from PC?
After upgrading to the new iTunes version, I am having problems connecting to the iTunes store from any of my laptops. no problem with the Macbook pro.
I deleted the programs and re-installed them, and no change. Any suggestions?Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

IPhone iOS 5.0 update problem "Connect to iTunes"
Although my phone is connected to iTunes and the installation to this point has gone fine, the phone will not continue from this point. Despite iTunes finishing the sync, the phone continues to state "Connect to iTunes"
Fix for the Frozen iOS install.
-- Open iTunes
-- Right click on the iPhone
-- Select "Restore from Backup"
-- Select the older backup file
The phone then restored (of course, I didn't know which iOS would be on the other side) But the phone restored to iOS 5.0 and everything is working fine.
Thanks to myself... I can't sleep better now,

Problems connecting to itunes and windows
I have a 4th generation 20gig ipod and since i ran the most recent update (2005-6-26), itunes wont recognize my ipod. i plug it in and it says do not disconnect, and itunes slows up for a bit like it always does when it recognizes my ipod, and then my ipod isnt recognized. Sometimes it will ask that i update the software. When I tried updating my ipod again, the updater wont recognize my ipod. it just gets stuck on initializing and it stops responding. To see if windows recognizes it, i went to my computer. When i click on the icon for my ipod (which now looks like a little music player with headphones), my computer (the box, not all of windows) stops responding. I reset my ipod by holding down the menu and center buttons, and now all my music is gone, except my ipod says that it has the capacity for 18.4 gb but only has 13.4 gb of space remaining. this makes me wonder what is taking up 5 gb of space on my ipod, since there is no music . Also when i attempt to disconnect my ipod through safely remove hardware, the safely remove hardware box freezes and stops responding, so as of now, to disconnect my ipod, im just physically disconnecting it, and i dont think thats good for the ipod. Help would be greatly appreciated.
-rayI turned off the laptop and it still won't connect. We have comcast, we put our new modem in 2 weeks ago, the laptop is new from Friday. Everything was working fine until I downloaded iTunes. This happened yesterday and my mom clicked on the apple software update and then my wifi connected, so I tried that today, everything is update and it still won't connect. My dads android still connects and the two iPod touches we have still connect. Could it possible be my phone that's the problem? thanks for your help!

Has anyone experienced this problem connecting to iTunes Store
When attempting to download content from the iTunes StoreI receive an error message, saying that there is a problem with this download,"an unknown error occurred [-1303]"
I experience the same problem downloading podcasts to which I subscribe via iTunes.
Apple have confirmed the network connection to Store is fine. I click Check for Available Downloads, the content attempts to download and then I get the same error message "there is a problem with downloading your items". I have removed and reinstalled the latest version of iTunes, but no luck.
The problem has now got worse, as it seems the entire iTunes installation on my system is causing problems. The tracks in my iTunes Library do not play. I have Apple TV in my living room, but it cannot now access any of my AV content stored in my iTunes library. I also have Sonos music streaming system, which has lost contact with the music stored in my iTunes library.
I have iTunes v.10.4.1.10 installed. My ISP is Virgin Broadband with a cable modem. I have the XXL high speed broadband package with up to 50mb.
Clearly there is something wrong here with iTunes, not the content I am trying to access. Can anyone help? Thank you, russell 1402Russell...

Having problems connecting my iTunes to external drive
I am migrating from a PC to iMac. My itunes on my PC connects to an external drive which was entered into the "itunes media folder location" under Advannced.
I am trying to connect to this drive on my Mac and I am getting the message " There was a proble connecting to the server "Music" The version of the server you ar trying to connect to is not supported. Please contact your system administrator to resolve the problem"
I have installed itunes via Parallel and connected no problem to the 'music' drive. Sort of seem to defeat the point of having two versions of itunes running. Is there something i need to do got it working on the Mac op system?
thanksI don't know why you are installing iTunes through Parallels since Mac has its own version of iTunes.
The get iTunes for Mac to use iTunes on the external, hold down the option key while starting iTunes and guide it to the library file in the iTunes folder on the external drive. If it says it cannot find a library file then that means you don't have a complete set of files on the external to get it to be used in this way and will need to reconfigure your library.
Another issue you may encounter is drive format incompatibility. If you formatted this drive with a Windows computer it will likely be NTFS formatted. You will either need to wipe the drive and reformat to FAT32 for use with both Macs and PCs, or the Mac format. Depending upon which way you want to go you will need third party software.
I've omitted a lot of details, but we can provide those once we know exactly how you want to operate. -
Please help. My iPod froze up after playing in Alpine car stereo. The screen shows the "Alpine" logo and the message "ok to disconnect" I have tried to connect to my PC with little success. Windows 7 does not recognize the iPod with the error message "device error". I have run the iTunes Diagnostics but it still does not recognize device as "connected"
See my reply to "Transferring Tunes" . Suggestion: From what you said, it sounds like you could easily connect this iPod to a Windows computer. Go back to the computer where you have the 3600 songs. Get the files out of the folder where they reside and put them on the iPod as data (your iPod has to be set up for disc use. So you will then have your music on there as the iTunes music AND the data files. Take that iPod to your Mac. Drag those files from the Finder, where you will see them on your iPod, which will mount like an external disc. (It was set up for disc use). Drag those files to your iTunes Library in the Source List (on the left) in iTunes. You might have to drag them into some interim folder on your harddrive first, like the Music folder within your User.
