Is there a problem upgrading Lightroom 4.4 catalogs to Lightroom 5?
I installed Lightroom 5 and it seemed to upgrade my catalog. Once I used it for a while, many folders didn't show any images. I tried synchronizing the folders, but that didn't solve the problem. Luckily, all of my work is fine in Lightroom 4.4. Is this a compatibility problem Adobe wasn't arare of when they launched?
I had to add one set of images I had instaled in LR5 to my LR4 catalog.
The problem seems to be random. After a complete re-boot, most of the folders showed up, but the screen shot shows how most folders looked before.
The folder has 10 files in it, but they don't show. Yesterday a project with many folders displayed about half of the images. Sometimes one or two would show when there were actually many files.

Is there a problem with Lightroom 5.2 down load extracting 64 bit upgrade?
I have been trying to get the 5.2 download to extract correctly. It completes 47%, extracting the 32 bit version, then stops and says it cannot complete, though it shows 64 bit complete under the crash screen. However, only the 32 bt version can be installed from the installation folder - the 64 bit file is incomplete or corrupted. After insatlling the 32 bit upgrade, Lightroom 5.2 screen comes up and it works, though seems slower than the original 64 bit system that was on the installation disc.
Running Windows 7 Pro on an Intel i7 system.
Are there any fixes for this download failing to extract and install?Thanks for the tip. have two links in my Start menu, and it now appears I have two copies of LR - LR 5 and LR 5.2 - on my computer - surely the upgrade, which does seem to have been installed as a 64 bit version, should have overwritten the intial version?

Problem upgrading windows 3.6 catalog (freshly exported) to LR4 catalog on Mac
I've recently moved from LR3.6 on Windows to LR4.1 on Mac, creating a new catalog in the process.
Now I wish to access my original catalog on the Mac so I first did a full "export to catalog" on the Windows PC (to first consolidate multiple folder locations into a single top-level folder) to an NTFS volume on a USB disk.
Mac obviously read-only on NTFS (in basic config) so I then copied the catalog from the USB to a newly prepared Mac disk. (I'm sure I read somewhere recently that you should do something permissions-wise on a newly prepared disk but can't for the life of me find it now).
I then tried opening the copy of the exported LR3.6 catalog from the new Mac disk & immediately get prompted to upgrade it to LR4.x so click OK.
A few seconds later I get a failure with an error complaining the catalog is corrupted & forwarding me to an LR1.x support page.
As I only have USB2.0 on the PC the export takes hours (280Gb) as does the copy from the USB 2.0 disk to the new Mac disk (via Thunderbolt).
Is there something I can do to "fix" this supposed corruption?
I haven't (yet) tried re-opening the USB-version of the catalog on the PC as it isn't fired up ATM but I have no reason to suspect genuine corruption.

PaulYep, don't bother to export as catalog.
Look at the catalog on the Windows machine and make sure the folders are shown as a hierarchy (http://www.lightroomqueen.com/blog/2008/12/17/i-have-a-long-list-of-folders-can-i-change-i t-to-show-the-folder-hierarchy/) and set them up that way if they're not.
Then copy your existing catalog over, without needing to export and without needing to copy the files again. -
I just upgraded to FF7 & now when I open it none of my history or cookies are saved. I have checked in options that Firefox will remember my history and all relevant settings but it is not doing it. Is there a problem with FF7?

The message is in Swedish and I try to translate:
“The function you are traying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable”. And the massage says also that I shall use: AppData\Local\Temp\{F4C4486E-6739-4CEF-82C5-BEADCC2774EA}. But can´t find the file in the temp file.. I cannot find Adobe_LightRoom_x64.msi anywhere on the computer. I have tried to download the file several times. I can think it can be a problem with uncompressing the file.

I want to upgrade the IOS of my Cisco 2821 from Version 12.4(11) to v 15.1 (XB), but I have CCME v 4.2 (0), is there any problem if I only upgrade the IOS and leave the CCME as it ?
ThanksCME is part of the IOS, so you can't upgrade the IOS seperately from CME.
That said, if this is a production environment you should proceed with caution and be prepared to roll back as you may find bugs, etc.
You should also look at release notes and make sure your phone firmware will still work or needs to be upgraded too.

When downloading from a Sony minidisc video camera, the picture is downloading but without sound. Previously, it had downloaded successfully both sound and picture. I have subsequently upgraded to Lion X (10.7.4). Is there some problem with the upgrade which is affecting the transfer? Is there a way of resolving this?
When you have kernel panics, the pertinent information is in the panic report.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway. -
Usually there is a upgrade path for current users of the software at a reduced price. I dont see anything like that for Lightroom 6. Will I have to pay full price just to upgrade to the new LR6 standalone version???

haha, so now i'm thinking. I'm learning the terminal as fast as i can but there are several lines of codes and commands in there that throws up red flags to me that i don't fully understand. It just looks fishy too me. It would be highly appreciated if someone could just check this out just to tell me that i don't need to worry about it. Or point me in the right direction. I just feel un easy about this. ha.

I have a mac with os x 10.6.8, should I upgrade it to os x 10.9.is there any problem which can occur after upgrading my os.
It is best to wait till there is a 10.9.1 update as new OS X systems always cause problems to some installations. Better not to risk losing data unless you have a bootable clone that enables you to revert to the original (pre upgrade) state. Haste makes waste.

There is something Definitely wrong with iOS 7 regarding DATA USAGE being logged to wireless carrier in for WIFI instead.
I read all the previous replies and same issue.
I rarely use my mac to sync....its all wifi sync for the last 2 years....never had this issue before... and i know it began with iOS7.... here is why....
My iPhone was at home when I updated to iOS7 connected to wifi...but it logged Data Usage to Rogers Wireless (700MB approx)...data will never do an update over 50mb in app store (it gives the warning to use wifi) I play a lot of games and pay for them so I always update through App Store. 2 weeks later, simposons halloween update (650mb)...at home, using wifi.
Rogers told me there was 700+mb data usage on the day of update and 650+mb data on oct 1.st (tapped out).
Went over my 6GB plan and paid the fees.
This has never happened before...It must come to apples attention by now... -

any suggestions pleaseHey I had that issue when I tried upgrading my phone. After I got to the sim card verification page it said that your sim is not valid please insert a valid sim card. I took it to the Apple Store, where they were able to determine that because I had previously received a replacement phone, the Serial Number was not entered correctly and my phone was actually locked to a different network than mine. They replace the phone and sim card, locking it to my network in store and then I upgraded to iOS 5 right in store. This time it went smoothly and only took about 10 mins.

Have a problem with Lightroom 5.4. Since the program crashed yesterday it won't launch, it comes up with the message "Lightroom encountered an error when reading its preview cache and needs to quit". " Lightroom will attempt to fix this problem next time it launches". Except that it doesn't, I keep getting the same message and the program closes. Does anyone know what I can do to repair it? Can't back up, can't do anything.

Problem Upgrading to Apex 3.1 on XE
I am running into a problem upgrading Apex to 3.1 on Oracle XE.
Hardware and Software:
Database: Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0
PL/SQL Web Toolkit Version: 10.1.2.0.4
Host O/S: MS Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP2
Host Hardware: AMD Athlon 64 Processor, 2.2 GHz, 1.87 GB RAM
Background:
This is a lab host. I am working through the full installation process so that I can set up XE and Apex on development and production hosts, the end in mind being to develop a simple application using XE/Apex instead of Access 2003, which is used heavily in this shop.
It seems to me that upgrading to Apex 3.1 would be a good thing to do up front instead of developing in the version which ships with XE (2.1, I believe) and performing the upgrade later.
I installed XE going with full defaults. Nothing at all tricky. I was able to connect to http://localhost:8080/apex without any trouble and log in as system.
I then followed these Apex upgrade instructions, very carefully:

After I ran into trouble (see below), I reviewed this post and used it to double-check my work:

I have worked through this a number of times, each time ending up with the same error.
The Problem...
After the upgrade, when I navigate to http://localhost:8080/apex, I receive the following error:

I reviewed this posting, which suggests that I upgrade my PL/SQL Web Toolkit:
apex 3.0 error wwv_flow.app_not_found_footer_err after new installation
I am perfectly willing to try this, but I am not sure how to obtain the latest correct version of the web toolkit for this particular version of the database. Any tips on where I might find this?
I also note that the posting says there should be 10 SQL files in the apex/builder directory. I only have 5, but I just downloaded this zip file a few days ago and assume this is the correct number of files. If it isn't, where could I find the correct zip?
Any other suggestions about the root cause of this issue would be appreciated.

Thanks Joel, it was the files. I examined the zip file I originally downloaded and, sure enough, there were 10 files. I extracted it again and, for some reason, this time it only pulled one of the SQL files out, not even five as it did the first time. In addition, it also skipped about half the language folders.
To get it work, I used the windows built-in zip to open the file, navigated to the apex/builder folder, selected all of the SQL files and language folders, then copied and pasted them into c:\apex\builder.
I then restored the database, ran the install again, and everything worked just fine: I can access http://localhost:8080/apex/apex_admin and log in.
I'm not sure what the issue is, a problem with the zip file or (ok, more likely) a problem with the built-in windows zip tool. I used 7-zip (www.7-zip.org) to extract the file on my workstation and all 10 files and 9 language folders came out just fine.
The bottom line is, it works now, thanks again for the help.
