  • After upgrading Apache to 2.2.23 there is a problem

I (perhaps foolishly) upgraded Apache from 2.2.22 to 2.2.23 on OS X Mountain Lion Server. Following the upgrade, remote clients on the LAN cannot access the Web server's default.html.en web page. The DNS entries still look okay on OS X Mountain Lion Server.
Any ideas as to what might have got broken/overwritten by Apache by doing the upgrade that I need to fix or could something be blocking things?
Also, while probably not related, when, directly from the (updated) web server machine, I access 127.0.0.1 from within the web browser I can see the start up web page for Apache on OS X Server (so Apache is running, just can't be accessed remotely). However, when I try to access the same web page, again directly from the local web server machine, but this time using localhost instead of the IP address in the URL then the web page doesn't appear.
The hosts file on the web server has the following entries:
    127.0.0.1     localhost
    255.255.255.255     broadcasthost
    ::1             localhost
    fe80::1%lo0     localhost

Yes, I should have backed up httpd.conf but unfortunately I didn't (it was a very long day). On the upside I am learning way more about httpd.conf than I ever thought I would.
After some soul searching I have since discovered that the ./configure string should also have had --disable-version in it. This is because it is a built-in module.
So a recompile of Apache and Apache is running and remote client machines can see 'html' based web pages. However, there remains a problem in that accessing php pages results in the php code being viewed instead of the web page. So something is still broken somewhere just not sure what. Any ideas? Please advise.
Below is a snippet of my httpd.conf RE the PHP side of things:
    Snippet----------------------------
    LoadModule php5_module        libexec/apache2/libphp5.so
#I have checked the libexec/apache2/libphp5.so exists. Still scratching head!
    PHPIniDir “/etc/php.ini”
    <IfModule php5_module>
        AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
        AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
        <IfModule dir_module>
            DirectoryIndex index.html index.php
        </IfModule>
    </IfModule>
    Include /private/etc/apache2/other/*.conf
    End snippet----------------------------
By the way, doing a 'php -v' gives me the following result in Terminal which I presume means that PHP is okay but for some reason Apache or the Server is missing something but I don't know what that might be

I can't say personally since I never used AW, but see if these articles help:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1166370/open_old_docs.html
    http://www.cultofmac.com/248546/convert-system-os-9-appleworks-6-files-to-os-x-p ages-files-os-x-tips/
I suggest that you clone your current drive with 10.6.8 to an external drive. If you have any issues after upgrading to Mavericks, you can boot back into 10.6.8.
Both of these applications can be used to create a clone. If you need help creating your clone, let us know.

  • HT201269 I upgraded to the 5c from an old 3G type, I need to change over, do I use the computer, bluetooth or is there a procedure to follow?

I upgraded my old 3G Iphone to the new 5C and need to transfer the data and number.  Is there a procedure to do this or do I just use the USB from the phone to my computer and use the ITUNEs.

Yes, use current iTunes on computer, Restore from back up of your iPhone 3g.

  • Corrrect procedure to upgrade

What is the correct procedure to upgrade from Forms30 to Forms60 ? Is it Forms30 to Form4.5 to Forms60 ? Is there any direct method ? I tried using f60genm, but it only generates the .fmx file not the .fmb file. what I am missing ??

There is documentation for the Schema update utility, that explains that pretty well. (Too long to write out here). Alternatively, you could load all your current files into the new application. With one note, before loading your application file you can update it by opening it in the win32 metadata manager. It will convert it to the latest HFM version.

  • Upgrading Apache server independently

Just wonder if there is any way to upgrade Apache httpd that comes with 9iAS (or 8i 8.1.7) to a newer release from httpd.apache.org without breaking the whole thing? I tried to do that on W2K:
    1) downloaded latest binary for Win32 (1.3.19 at that time)
    2) installed it locally at my dev PC
    3) copied Apache.exe, ApacheCore.dll and modules over existing files (and fixed up LoadModule in httpd.conf to match new module names)
    4) tried to start the server and it crashed complaining about modplsql.dll being invalid Apache module. In fact, none of the modules that came with 8.1.7/iAS 1.0.2.0.0 was recognized as valid. And Oracle-supplied 1.3.12 was complaining about new modules that came with 1.3.19 binary dist for 'accessing Apache API in the wrong way' or something similar to this.
    5) So much for the upgrade :( I had to revert back to 1.3.12 which is known to have bugs and security issues.
    So, the question is:
is it possible to use latest binary distribution of Apache httpd to upgrade Oracle HTTP Server powered by Apache by copying binaries over existing ones? If yes - what config or whatever changes should be made for new Apache to recognize modplsql.dll as valid module?
If this is not possible - how Oracle goes about fixing bugs and security issues in their custom version of Apache that are fixed in new releases from Apache.org? I didn't see any patches/upgrades for httpd on MetaLink (did I search for them in a wrong place?)
    thanks in advance,
    Bob.

I would be quite interested in the answer to this as well. Apache 1.3.12 (used with iAS 1.0.2) has numerous security issues, which have been patched with newer versions of Apache.
Does Oracle plan on supporting these security patches?

  • What is the procedures to upgrade graphic card

I've just got a GT 120 graphic card and want to replace the old GT7300.
(some articals say it works fine with 1st gen intel mac pro and say that install the driver first, but no driver cd in the upgrade kit)
    I've also upgrade to OS10.6.
But I don't know the correct procedures of upgrading this graphic card.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    Edta

There should not be any "articles" I am aware of as that card will only work with EFI64 Mac Pro 2008 and later, and not with early 2006/7 models.
Short list, other than ebay and flashing PC cards: ATI Radeon 4870 - contrary to not being listed by Apple which is just causing us to have to keep reiterating it works.
The 8800GT is gone, shame, and there is no Nvidia offered for 1st gen.
Now that you have 10.6 you are fine, just swap out the 7300GT. The 4870 requires 10.5.7 though, so your older systems and DVDs other than 10.6 won't work.

  • 10.5 to 10.6 Server Upgrade - Apache Fail

    Hello,
I did a server upgrade last night from Leopard 10.5 Server to Snow Leopard Server. Everything went surprisingly well aside from one issue I've detected. All my existing services are working with the exception of the Web service. It starts and I get the green light but Apache is not working. In the overview, it says web service has started but no information on Apache version or start time.
Prior to the update I had been running Apache 2.2 so I assumed everything would be happy updating the OS. When the service is off and I click on the Logs tab I see all my old logs, as soon as I start the service everything goes blank so somewhere there is a disconnect with Apache 2.
Any ideas where to start? I cloned the server to another RAID set just in case of failure plus I have my backups, I even tried deleting everything in the Apache2 folder and replacing it with my 10.5 Apache2 contents but still no luck.
    A bit baffled.

I like your idea but after doing some research it appears as if the upgrade did not install somethings cause reactivating the system with the default php that ships does not work at all. I would have preferred to do it your way. I did build php ver 5.3.8 and its all working, even the ionCube module but I'm just wresting with a small issue iconv, believed to be a bug. But if I could wipe the slate clean and have everything default I would have, it's just every reference I found pertianing to the factory installation of php were not there.
My only reason for the upgrade to begin with is to support the ionCube module for an OpenRealty installation, other than that server 10.5 was working perfect for me. I would love to have it just work as 10.6 intended and working and stable as you mentioned, just not sure if its possible at this point.
Apache 2.2, PHP 5.3.8, and MYSQL are all working at the moment.
My small issue, loving this apache command,
Syntax error on line 1464 of /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Syntax error on line 8 of /etc/apache2/sites/+entropy-php.conf: Cannot load /usr/local/php5/libphp5.so into server: dlopen(/usr/local/php5/libphp5.so, 10): Library not loaded: /usr/local/php5/lib/libiconv.2.dylib\n  Referenced from: /usr/local/php5/libphp5.so\n  Reason: Incompatible library version: libphp5.so requires version 8.0.0 or later, but libiconv.2.dylib provides version 7.0.0

    Hi,
Check this link which may help u:
    http://sap.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/sap-basis/igs-upgrade-1455477
The installation/upgrade procedures for the integrated IGS are as follows:
    Integrated Version Installation
The integrated IGS is automatically installed with the SAP Web Application Server.
    Integrated Version Upgrade
You find the upgrade files for the integrated IGS version on the SAP Service Marketplace:
http://service.sap.com/swdc  ®  Download  ®  Support Packages and Patches ®  Entry by ApplicationGroup  ®  SAP Frontend Components ®  SAP IGS  ®  SAP IGS .
There, you find the IGS executables and libraries (igsexe_.sar) as well as the IGS folder structure (igshelper_.sar) containing among others font files.
With the upgrade files of the executables and libraries, proceed exactly like you would with kernel patches (for example, extract the Archive to the same location). More information about kernel patches can be found in the related note 19466 in the section Copying and Installing a Patch.
The upgrade files for the IGS folder structure must be extracted to the instance directory (DIR_INSTANCE). More information can be found in note 1028690.
After a restart of the Web AS the new IGS is up and running.
Information about finding out your IGS patch level is provided in note 931900.
For an upgrade of an integrated IGS please also check note 896400.
For more info check this SAP Help doc:

  • Hi, I am interested in upgrading to snow leopard but I've heard in some cases it messed up peoples computers. Is there any advantages in upgrading to Snow Leopard from Leopard? Thank you in advance for the advice!

Hi, I am interested in upgrading to snow leopard but I've heard in some cases it messed up peoples computers. Is there any advantages in upgrading to Snow Leopard from Leopard? Thank you in advance for the advice points will be given to multiple users. Here are my computer specs (Leopard 10.5.8.)
      Model Name:    iMac
      Model Identifier:    iMac7,1
Processor Name:    Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:    2 GHz
      Number Of Processors:    1
      Total Number Of Cores:    2
      L2 Cache:    4 MB
      Memory:    2 GB
      Bus Speed:    800 MHz

You need not upgrade unless there is something you do that cannot be done unless you upgrade. Upgrading OS X doesn't mess up anyone's computer. Users mess up their computers.
Your model has 2 GBs of RAM which is adequate for Snow Leopard although 4 GBs would be better. Upgrading to Snow Leopard will cost $29.00. You can order from Apple's Online Store. Here's a good procedure to follow:
How to Install OS X Updates Successfully
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your current OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
    C. Important: Please read before installing:
If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've restarted.
You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer (see below) from Apple Downloads to update.  While the installation is in progress do not use the computer.
    D. To upgrade:
Purchase the Snow Leopard Retail DVD.
Boot From The OS X Installer Disc:
Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
    Restart the computer.
Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple logo appears.
Wait for installer to finish loading.
    E. If updating:
    Download and install update(s)
    Use Software Update, or
    Download standalone updater(s).

That would depend on whether your model actually has a hard drive. If you have the new 2013 Retina model, then you have a fixed storage device built-in that cannot be modified after purchase.
