Is There a Programable Macro Language

Is there a programable macro language available for the iMac?
I am looking for something that I can have resident in memory and be executable with a simple series of short cut keys that are not used by the OS.
For example, I get tired of keying in my email address - it's kind of long - and it would be neat to place the curser where I want the email address then press 2 or 3 shortcut keys - with my email address being put into the proper place. Email address is just an example. There are a number of repetitive things that I have to type frequently and this would be handy for all repetitive tasks.
I am not sure anything like this exists but it's worth asking.
Thanks
Adrian

  • Is there a program I can use to retrieve corrupted .MOV files, from a HD memory card where some files will open, and others wont?

    Hi,
    I have a Mac OS X version 10.6.8 with a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory.
I have recently shot some still and moving footage on my Cannon EOS 500 D (digital camera) using an AMICOE SD C10 8 GB high speed memory card.
After uploading these photos and movies onto my Mac, I am only able to open about 2/3 of the files that appear on the screen.  In the case of the movie files, I can see a number of the file icons, however about 1/3 of them will not open (I get a message saying that Quicktime does not recognise this file - yet it is a .MOV file. Interestingly I can see a small thumbnail for each of these files that will not open, however I am unable to expand the thumbnail into the larger size) and there are a number of photos that simply do not appear as a file or thumbnail.
Is there a program I can use to retrieve these corrupted .MOV and JPEG files from either my computer or the memory card?
Thank you for your interest in this question.
    Cheers,
    Shaughno.

....to add to the last part... When adding to the iTunes library,- I need iTunes to make a quick-scan to verify that media I am adding isn't already in there,- preventing duplicates that make remedial tasks of removing* duplicates so annoying and unproductive...

  • Can I move only my iTunes movies, not my iTunes music, onto a flash drive? And, is there a program (apart from iTunes) that can play movies on MacBook Air?

I have a MacBook Air and I need to free up space...
    1) I have three series of a tv show on my itunes which are taking up loads of memory - see image - I want to move these movie files onto a Flash Drive. However I do not want to move my itunes Music onto the flash drive, only my Movies, and want to keep my music on my hard drive.
    Is this possible?
    2) I have managed to copy the movie files onto the flash drive, however when I tried to play one to check that they were loaded properly it didn't have a program that could run the file (they have copied over in a m4V format). Do the MacBook Air's not have a separate program other than itunes that can play movies? If so, is there a program I can get to solve this problem? I went onto the App Store to see if there was something I could download, but all the apps were for creating DVD's, not simply playing them.
    3) If 1. & 2. questions are solvable, will it then be safe to delete the movies from my itunes?
Thank you so much for any answers posted.
    Best,
    Eloise15.

If you can play the movies in iTunes, you should be able to open the movie files using Quicktime, which should already be on your system.  If you have already transferred the files to your flash drive, open the flash drive in Finder, and hold control when you click on the movie file (or right click if you have the enabled) and select Open With Quicktime Player.  This should play the movie directly from the flash drive.
If you want to set all .m4v files to open with Quicktime by just double clicking on the file, you can follow the steps here: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/2573/os_x_how_to_change_default_application_to_op en_file_type/
    3) If 1. & 2. questions are solvable, will it then be safe to delete the movies from my itunes?
You can move the TV shows to your flash drive by dragging them from the iTunes window to your flash drive in Finder or the flash drive icon on the desktop.  When you are sure everything is transferred over to your external device, you can delete the movie from iTunes.  I recommend playing the videos from the flash drive first before deleting them in iTunes.
To delete the videos from iTunes, you can highlight them and press the delete key on your keyboard.  In the next prompt, you would want to move it to the trash so that it is deleted from your internal hard drive.
    I hope that helps!

No reason to be embarassed. You are not alone.
You will need an external drive. If you have a Time Machine drive without enough disk space you can create the clone there however it's advised that you keep your Time Machine and clone on separate drives. If the drive dies you loose both types of backup.
Download and install the clone software. Everyone has their favorite. These are the two most common applications used. I prefer SuperDuper because of it's simplicity in setting up. It's also free for the first clone where with CCC you have to give a Credit Card then cancel if you do not want to keep.
    SuperDuper! http://www.shirt-pocket.com/
    CCC http://www.bombich.com/download.html
Select your drive in the To popup. Click on Copy Now. That's it.
Yes, it really is that simple....

  • I would like to take a iTunes play list and put it on a USB drive for my car radio to stay in my car. Is there a way to do this through iTunes so you have all the song info and there's no number in front of the name of the song? Is there a program?

iTunes only syncs to Apple devices.
Assuming the media is not DRM protected, any of the media can be dragged and dropped from iTunes onto other drives (external, flash, etc) as the user chooses.

Is there a program that allows you to black out most of the screen content of a PDF (on an iPad) and slide down like you would with an overhead (covered with a piece of paper) for teaching purposes??

Maybe this online manual would help.

Not sure how well printing it out would work, though.

  • Is there a program that works like the old iPhoto?

Is there a program that works like the old iPhoto?
The old iPhoto is my ideal program. Unfortunately, it does not work on my new operating system. I like having the ability to look over my images with a slide show. However, the new package folder does not give me complete access to my pictures. Is there a program that will have both slide show with music options, and the general folder for the files? I heard that Picasa was supposed to have a general folder, but it is using the iPhoto package.
I have looked over the solutions to getting access to images from the iPhoto package mentioned in the discussion forum. I would like a simpler system that works like the old iPhoto. Is this a possibility? I do not feel comfortable putting my original photo files into a system that does not let me look at the file information, and I would like to have the original benefits of iPhoto tools.
    Thank you for your time.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
The current iPhoto is laid out specifically the way it is because of folks like you
Since iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Package File. This is simply a folder that looks like a file in the Finder. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
Even in the old iPhoto it was never correct to access the iPhoto Library Folder.
However, the new package folder does not give me complete access to my pictures.
This is untrue. Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
    There they all are.
Standard Warning which applies to every version of iPhoto: Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
I do not feel comfortable putting my original photo files into a system that does not let me look at the file information
What information are you missing? If you can tell us we may be able to help you more.

Is there a program for I pad comparable to the amazon prime?

You're question doesn't make a lot of sense. Amazon Prime is a service provided by Amazon. It's primary feature is free or reduced shipping. If you order things from Amazon on your iPad, you can use your Amazon Prime membership for the free or reduced shipping. It also offers some free streaming video, which is available on the iPad through an app provided by Amazon.

ok i have a 20 gig 4th gen ipod and now im getting the new 60 gig video ipod..is there a program that will let me plug both of them in and transfer music directly from the 20 gig to my new 60 gig..or does anyone have any other ideas besides copying all my music to the pc and readding it to the new ipod..thanks apreciate all help

    Hi Heather
I can't see any programme that will copy directly between two iPods. I think you'll just have to copy to your hard drive and then back onto the new iPod.
I don't keep my music on my computer either. It doesn't take that long to copy it over and if my iPod crashes, well hey, I have the cds and it's a chance for a clear out!
I'm on my 3rd iPod and have never had cause to be concerned about the safety of my files yet. Unfortunately on here there is a tendancy for people to lecture you on what they think you should be doing, rather than to answer the question you've asked.

  • Is there a program out there to convert appleworks data to pages data

Is there a program that will convert appleworks date to pages data?

Word Processing documents can be opened directly only in Pages (AppleWorks 6 only).
Draw Documents can be opened directly only in EazyDraw (the more expensive version from their website, not the cheaper one from the Mac App Store, and you will need v4.0 'Retro' not the most recent version) or Intaglio (though this appears not to be able to handle very complex drawings).
Spreadsheets can be opened directly only in Numbers.
Presentations can be opened directly only in Keynote.
To use other programs, or open Painting or Database documents at all, you must export from AppleWorks first.
If you can no longer run AppleWorks you cannot open these document types.
This article examines the situation in a lot more detail:

Do you mean Entourage? It appears you have Office 2004 or older. Those are PowerPC apps only and will not run in Lion or later. If you need access to those emails like, "RIGHT NOW!", then I would suggest purchasing Office 2011 for Mac. Outlook is the new Office email client in 2011 and can import your older Entourage data.

  • Is there a program to extract email addresses from a searchable pdf?

Is there a program that will extract email addresses from a searchable pdf?
I scanned a 75 page excel spreadsheet and used OCR to create a searchable pdf. I've verified that the OCR did work, the email address are searchable, but I need a way to extract them from the pdf so that I can add them to an email list database. There is other data in the spreadsheets that is not needed and it is making it impossible to just copy and paste. Does anybody know if there is a program available that works on the mac platform for this. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

iMovie projects do not like being zipped. Unless you have the unzipped original you will have to create the project again.
Furthermore there's probably no point in trying to zip it.  Many media formats such as mp3, AAC, mp4, jpeg are already compressed and compressing again just adds overhead (making them bigger) as well as placing them in a format that is hard to recover anything from should something go wrong.
