I knew about the Get Image method, but I never thought of the but depth set to 1 for monochrome. You must have read my mind about this one because it's another detail I had omitted..

I like the new feature which allows you to export simplified images of graphs as an .emf, but I was wondering if it is possible to export these images programmtically, or if it must be done manually in edit mode.

You can only export the simplified image manually there is not a programatic interface.
If you really needed to you may be able to use this example to fire all the mouse events to save the image, but I am not sure if it is worth it.

Export simplified image bug report

The attached XY Graph has two plots represented in semilog scale (linear X scale, logarithmic Y scale).
The two axes are set to not autoscale and I chose Y to start a 1. There are values of Y equal to zero in the plots.
When right-clicking the graph and selecting Export>>Export Simplified Image... and then selecting the following options:
pasting the image into another software (e.g. Power Point) results in this:
Notice that the zero bins are now set to infinity...
No such problem occur when setting the Y scale to linear or exporting the image as BMP.
But of course none of these are satisfactory solutions to this bug, which seems related to what is described in this recent thread:

You got 0 in the data.
Log 0 => inf.
a work around:
replace 0 with NaN.
Then you get:

Export Simplified Image, with color markers

Hi,
I have a few graphs that i'd like in a report, they need to look neat and will get resized along the way. So i need to export them as vector based graphics (.eps or .emf), i have been using Export Simplified Image (Object Shortcut Menu -> Data Operations ->Export Simplified Image). For most plots this has worked fine.
Problem comes when i make plot with just markers no lines, when i do the export the marker points are always black. I would like to show the differences between some data sets using colour not just marker shape. When i do the same plot but with lines and markers, then both the lines and markers come out in color. Exporting to .eps and and .emf has identical results.
An example is attached, with the two plots (with lines and without). I am using LabView 8.0 on WinXP could it be a version thing? Anyone willing to test on other versions?

Hi Topher,
How are you doing this? Are you going to right-click>>Export Simplified Image. I have done this with the code attached on the forum above and this works fine for me using 8.6.1f1. You could try installing the patch for 8.6.1 if you haven't already to ensure we are on the same version. This is available at http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/lang/en/id/1276 although it should not fix anything to do with this. Does this also not work by using the property node as described in the KB at http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/5AE4ADCBB65A6D8F86256FBF007A1AC1?OpenDocument

XY graph export simplified image emf bug

Hi,
I have a problem with exporting a XY graph to a simplified image (Enhanced metafile .emf or Encapsulated postscript .eps).
Or using the print front panel option / method.
When you run the example vi (XY graph bug - LabVIEW 2013 SP1.vi), right click the XY graph and choose the option "Export Simplified Image...", some of the plots are inverted when you choose .emf or .eps in the options menu (see "Export Simplified Image options.png").

When you choose Bitmap it works fine.
Any ideas?
Or is it a bug in LabVIEW 2013?

Actually I wanted to use the option "Automatically print front panel every time VI completes execution" or the "Print.Panel to Printer" method".
But when I do that I have the same problem.
Any workaround for that?

Send control image programmatically to clipboard

Hi all
The right click option allows one to copy or export simplified image to clipboard.
Programmatically, "export simplified image "is not possible.
Using "invoke node", it is posible to save in a file as jpg/bmp/pmg.
Does somebody has a vi to copy graph control image programmatically to clipboard as jpg or emf?

I have needed to programmatically copy image data to the clipboard too. In the past I have used George's toolset. However with Labview 8.5, you can do it. Attached is a snippet that shows how you can use the picture methods to export to either the clipboard or a file. Can't do it in either LV8, or LV8.2. Sad.

Is there an MS Visio equivalent for Snow Leopard

Is there an MS Visio equivalent for Snow Leopard which can read Visio files (*.vsd), save as Visio files, and paste drawings etc into Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, etc)

Since Ovation take PP slides have you tried just exporting Keynote to PP? Does that work for you?
Haven't used Ovation myself - looked at the demos and was distinctly underwhelmed, but then I've always thought KN did what I wanted - interesting that Ovation claims to improve type legibility - with KN that comes as standard! Would love a clock timer on screen though.....

Is there a way to export still images from Quicktime or do I need Quicktime Pro (and is Quicktime Pro even still a thing?)

I'm sure there used to be an option "export to still image" but not any more.
Do I need to switch to Quicktime Pro? I used to have it back in my P.C. days but I'm not sure if Quicktime Pro is even a thing any more.
I don't want to go down the "screen grab" option because my source footage is larger than the screen size and so I want to do my cropping after I've exported the stills, not before.

I played a little with live trace in CS5. Seems to do quite a good job if I had the right contrast between the blood (white stuff) and the myocardium (the dark circular wall surrounding the white round area). Picture one is the contrasted picture taken off a dicom medium (these media allow adjusting the contrast very well). Left ventricle is the smiley face on the right of image. The right ventricle is on the left, kind of D shaped. The second picture is the live trace image (with "make and expand" selection). I selected the image with the "direct selection tool (A)", then used the live trace with make and expand. The tracing can not be seen here, but it is very accurate.
The third image is the same MRI image as in picture one without contrast adjustment. Live trace did bad - fourth picture.

No there isn't however you can use Jython (or another scripting language of your choice) to reproduce this functionality.

Ok, so the CLD could be a moving target. I posted these question in an email and now awaiting an answer.
What are the criteria used to grade the CLD exam? What are the specific finding and recommendations used when determining a grade?
In two instances of taking the CLD the graders comments are shown below.
After a comparison of the two cases, here are my comments. “Property nodes and local variable are not to be used”. I’ve posted a question asking what other ways are there to programmatically update a control. “Unnecessary bends in wires are not to be used”. What criteria determine when a wire bend is unnecessary? Should all wires not have bends thus bends in wires are not allowed? “Errors not handled….error terminal on property node not wired”. As I read the exam requirements, I did not come across a case to handle an error in any step. Simply connecting an error terminal and providing a case doesn’t handle errors. I’m almost certain my code in Case2 does not generate programmatic errors. “NOT gate used rather than inverted input where available”. Are you saying NOT gates are not be used, is there some advantage? Maybe I was able reuse duplicate code in Case2 and in one of the cases the NOT gate was appropriate since is read well on a block diagram and the change was effortless.
Case1:
Style: Overly complex solution. Property Nodes used to update values. Unnecessary bends in wires. Error terminals on property nodes unwired. Errors not handled.
Functionality: Application not fully implemented. Logic of implementation is not correct. Boolean latch action is not implemented where necessary.
Documentation:

I have no idea what NI is looking for as far as “Style”. Lets define this and have a point system in place for determining “Style”. What “Style” allocates 15 points in the CLD exam?

Atleast at the time of viewing the report or by passing credentials as parameterFeilds to the report and prompting the user for credentials at the time of viewing , I checked the CrystalReportViewer and ReportExportControl api didn't find any method to encrypt.

Is there any way to export an image out of Aperature into Adobe Camera Raw before using Photoshop?

If you want to send a TIFF file via the 'Edit with External Editor' command after selecting Photoshop as your external editor, you can try the following:
1 - Open Camera Raw preferences (either via Bridge or ACR).
2 - Find the 'JPEG and TIFF Handling' section
3 - Use the 'TIFF:' drop-down menu to select 'Automatically open all supported TIFFs' option
4 - Click OK and restart Bridge or ACR
This should automatically launch ACR when Aperture sends a TIFF to PS.
Note - you would then need to use the 'Open Image' command from ACR to render to Photoshop and use the 'Save' command to go back to Aperture and see the changes. This is only for a TIFF file format though.
