Is there a prompt to activate visual voicemail once I switched services from Verizon Wireless to Verizon Pre-Paid Services?

I recently transferred from my verizon wireless account over to verizon prepaid; my iPhone 4 will only allow me to extract voice mail by dialing in *86 and my visual voicemail is not functioning. The message I get is from the phone voicemail greeting screen setup is " Voicemail Unavailable could not authorize access" . Is there a fix for this? please help.

Just got off the phone with Verizon. Voicemail indication and access to your voice from the Phone app is now restricted. There is no Voicemail directly from you iPhone for Verizon pre-paid.
If you can not get to your Verizon Voicemail hit *228 and respond with a 1 and let the message say your phone has been setup.

  • Ho to activate visual voicemail

I unfortunately didn't pay attention to that first message I heard when I activated my iPhone and no I can't seem to get that information again. My voicemail is just as it was with Cingular before the iPhone and I can't figure out how to activate the visual voicemail now. Any tips?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    davberk,
After a rather lengthy call to at&t, my visual voice mail is working. Thanks to the folks that helped me, they were great.
Wow, I have to say this is cool. No more dialing in to check voice mail. It's just there. Waiting for you.
If there's anyone else whose visual voice is not working, I'd call at&t and make sure it's actually on your rate plan.

  • Unable to activate visual voicemail. Get error code 9009.

Took the device to the Verizon store and they couldn't figure it out either. My husbands phone (same model) having the same problem. Verizon is replacing due to warranty. Anyone else have this issue?

This happened to me also (on a Note 4). Here's what I did to resolve it:
    1. Open the phone feature, access the dialer and dial *73. I received a prompt stating that my call forwarding was activated. I pressed the deactivate button.
    2. Go to Settings > Applications > Application Manager,  then swipe the top bar to "All", then scroll down and locate the Voice Mail app, then open it.
    3. Click the Force Stop button first, then click the Clear Data button.
At this point, try relaunching the Voice Mail app. If all works well, you should get an introduction page to set up your visual voicemail.

  • IPHONE 4 VISUAL VOICEMAIL

I have no problem with Verizon, but I really dislike the fact that they charge for visual voicemail. Is there anyway in knowing if VISUAL VOICEMAIL will be free for iPhone 4 users...I know its just 3 dollars but still every other carrier doesn't charge for this.

Although iPhone plan pricing has not been released, there is no reason to believe that it wouldn't be available for an additional charge.

  • Iphone 5 and 5s visual voicemail and call forwarding problems in UK

    Hi
I am in the UK on a monthly pay 4G package with O2 with my iphone 5S.
Every two or three days, visual voicemail switches off saying there is an error with visual voicemail. When this happens, voicemails are left for me, but the caller does not hear my personalised OGM and I have to call in to listen to voicemails - and I get no notification of new voicemails. If I power down my iphone and switch it back on, visual voicemail is restored. But then a day or two later, it all happens again
Another thing I have noticed, is that when I switch my iphone back on after having powered it down, the call forward icon appears on the phone, even though I have not set call forwarding. To celar this I go into settings - phone - call forwarding. this shows that call forwardins is indeed off, and as soon as i reach that screen in settings, the call forwarding icon goes away - and so does my 4G connection. I then have 3G connection for a while and then magically 4G returns after several minutes.
Thsi is all comepletely repeatable - happens every time
Yesterday I noticed that exactly the same things are happening on my wife's iphone 5 - and she is on an EE package
We are both on IOS 7.1
    What is going on?

Immediately after going through the carry-on x-ray scanner at Newark airport, my 5S touch screen screen became unresponsive. I could not tap icons. I could not swipe pages. I could not turn off the phone because I could not swipe the confirmation message. I could use the fingerprint sensor to ask Siri to Google for help, and Safari did open with a list of Google search results. Surprisingly, I could use the touchscreen to scroll up and down the list of search results, but it would not respond to any taps, so I could not open any of the links. I finally did a hard reset and when the phone did come back on, all was well. This is the second time that this has happened immediately after x-ray, and these two times were the only times that this has happened, despite many trips.
Then there was something else unique about those two times that affected the device, either environmental or circumstantial.

I see.  Apple's documentation on what is included in the iCloud backup doesn't explicitly say that it contains voicemails, but that doesn't mean it does not.  You would just have to try restoring the backup to find out.
To restore to your iCoud backup you have to start by erasing the phone.  Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  Then go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud backup.  You will then sign into your iCloud account, accept the terms and conditions, then choose the backup you wish to restore from.  To see an older backup, you may need to tap "Show older backups" (see image below).  Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger as this may take some time to finish.
If this does not recover your voicemails, you can check to see if you have an older iTunes backup that may contain them.  Available backups are shown in iTunes Preferences>Devices on the Backups list.
If all else fails, you could try contacting your carrier.  Voicemail is a carrier feature and they may have an archive you could access.

  • Just upgraded to iPhone 6 from iPhone 4s and visual voicemail is not there.

I just upgraded my iPhone 4s to a 6 yesterday. I was testing everything out and noticed that when I select Voicemail it dials out to an automated system istead of having the options to change my greeting, listen to voicemails, delete my voicemails visually on my phone. Is there a reason it is different? Is there a way to get it back? I really like my visual voicemail and I'm hoping there's a way to get it back on my phone.

Voice mail, including visual voice mail, is a carrier feature.
Contact your carrier. They need to re-provision the account for VVM.

  • IPhone 4: Visual Voicemail asks to be 'set up now' after each reboot

    Hello everyone,
    Here is my recurring problem:
Every time I turn my iPhone 4 off and back on, the visual voicemail asks to be set up again (when I've done it over 10 times now!). I tried resetting the network settings, taking out the SIM, and even called my phone company. They said that the issue is from Apple and has nothing to do with cell phone reception or what not... They said they have gotten a lot of calls with this issue?
I am not sure if anyone else is having this problem...?
How do I fix this so I don't need to reset my voicemail everytime I reboot?!?!
    Thank you in advance.

    The fix:
Okay, I spoke with Apple Customer Support, and this is the detailed fix for the constant visual voicemail re-set after rebooting the iPhone (4). A warning though, it's going to use up a lot of your time!
    1. Make sure that you've synched your iPhone, and have a computer back up (which includes all of your contacts, apps, email, photos, etc. - EVERYTHING.
    2. Reset your iPhone 4 back to the factory default (this erases EVERYTHING from your iPhone). This is the "Restore" option found on the "Summary" tab in iTunes when your iPhone 4 is selected.
    3. After step 2 is complete, when you are given the option to restore the iPhone either from a back-up, or start as a new iPhone, choose the new iPhone option (it's possible that your back-up has a "corruption" which lead to this problem).
    4. Re-synch, and re-add all of your apps, movies, books, and photos, etc. You will have to redo any folders that you may have made (pain!).
    5. You may have to update the phone's carrier settings (remember when you first got the phone?), by pressing a prompt on the phone if it tells you that a carrier update is available (download the update). The phone will also prompt you with the fact that it's now registered (with your carrier). This only takes a second (the shortest part of the whole process). Your visual voice mail should work. Your greeting may be set to "default", but if you choose "custom", your greeting should be there (push "play" to make sure). If not, then record a new one. My greeting was still there, and I didn't have to re-enter my password. All of my old messages were still there, too. Success!
    6. You'll have to re-enter your wi-fi password in order to re-enable wi-fi.
    7. You're done. It works. I've tested it, by restarting (re-booting) the iPhone 4 several times.
    8. Go to bed, because it's late!
    You're welcome!
    -Mark.

  • Visual Voicemail not working on iPhone 4, iOS 7.0.2

Before I get into the specifics, I want to say YES, I already called AT&T about this. Their Tier 2 support guy couldn't resolve it so it's been elevated to a support ticket and I'm waiting for a reply. I'd just like to know if there's anything I can try on my end, or if there's any telltale sign of a defective unit.
    The phone: iPhone 4, 8GB, AT&T. 2 years old, off-contract. Unlocked. iOS 7.0.2
We just got back from a European trip and the visual voicemail on my wife's iPhone 4 is not working. Before we left, I unlocked it via iTunes and updated to iOS 7. I didn't want to upate the OS but iTunes was not giving me a choice, despite trying the various options to keep it on iOS 6 (believe me, I tried). Anyway, in Sweden I bought prepay SIM cards for our phones and used those on the whole trip, swapping the ATT sims back in once we got home. We both had issues with our voicemail after that, with repeated prompts for our password and having to go to AT&T to reset it and all that bizness. My 4S is working fine now, her 4 is not.
She knew she had at least 3 voicemails while we were gone but they were not showing up. Last night I checked for a carrier update, then set the iPhone to update to 7.0.2 while we slept; woke up to find the update had FAILED and the iPhone seemed bricked. After updating iTunes and repairing permissions, finally got the phone back up and updated, with a long restore from backup with apps and music. Still no new voicemails. I 'Reset Network Settings' to no avail, after working through all the steps in the Apple Knowledgebase article. So I called AT&T. The first tech did several things (on/off. more Network Settings resets) and the old voicemails did show up -- but no NEW ones would pop up when she made test calls. The tier 2 guy did some resets on their end, still no joy on showing new voicemails. As a last-ditch effort, he reset the entire voicemail account for that phone. Now visual voicemail is completely GONE. Pressing the button just calls voicemail and prompts you for the password. New voicemails are in the system, but there's no prompt on the phone that you even have one, you have to call.
SO... anyone else have this issue? The AT&T guy seemed to be at the end of his rope and had nothing left to try on his end. He thought it was a hardware issue, though everything was working fine before I a) upgraded to 7 and b) swapped SIM cards. Is there ANYTHING ELSE I can try on my end to see if its an issue with the iPhone versus an AT&T problem?
    TIA,
    JVK

Generally, when going out of the country and using a foreign SIM, carrier files can be changed. Go to Settings>General>About>and look at Carrier? What does it say? You may have to perform a restore. You can try a restore from a backup, that would reinstall the iOS, and would provide the latest AT&T carrier file as well. See if this will fix the problem.

  • Visual voicemail not working

....and hasn't been for over 3 weeks now. I really didn't know that it wasn't working. I just thought that people weren't leaving me any messages until my boyfriend asked why I wasn't responding to his messages. I called customer support and the lady there told me that they were doing some kind of testing in the area Of course the area she names wasn't even in the state I was in. Plus....testing for 3 weeks....I don't think so! Anyway. I've unsubscribed and resubscribed and it still doesn't work. i've called *86 and gone through someof the things there like re recording my voice message, etc. So far nothing has worked. I have my contacts synced online and I know that I'd have to redownload all my apps if I do a factory reset. Is there any way to save my text messages somewhere? there are some that I'd really hate to lose.
I've had many problems with this phone since 2.2. I wish there was an easier way to just put everthing back on the phone after a hard reset without having to download everything again and losing info.
I'd go back to regular basic voicemail, but i don't think it would work anyway since calling in to *86 doesn't work. It still tells me I have no voicemails...even though I asked a friend to leave me one and they said they did. Any help would be appreciated!

The bad thing here is that normally, I'd suggest that you re-install the Visual Voicemail app. However, that app is native to the phone (meaning that it comes installed on the phone and can't be downloaded or installed from the App Market. Therefore, you will have to do that dreaded Factory Restore to re-install the voicemail app,
I believe that Verizon Voicemail can be accessed without the visual app. I haven't looked at this process, but I remember setting up good old voicemail on my original Moto Droid before I subscribed to VIsual Voicemail. You get a voicemail and a notification in the, well, the notification bar at the top of the screen.
If you resort to performing the factory restore, be sure and follow the procedure described here as opposed to just simply letting the phone restore itself (WHAT?? No sticky yet?? Well, guys, I tried...)
"This has been verified as being the best way to stop a number of the issues that has developed after doing Froyo update, the system seem to keep the 2.1 app and settings during installation process and this seems to cause a number of incompatible issues with a number of devices.... Follow this process after completing Froyo Update to avoid problems..
Follow these settings during restore to avoid issues being restored automatically.
    1. Uncheck "Back up my data" under Settings/Privacy
    2. Click Factory Data Reset/Reset Phone
    3. After reset is complete only Activate Phone but do not input Google Email information
    4. Once phone is at homepage go back into Settings/Privacy and make sure the Automatic Restore option is unchecked, even if grayed out, activate "Back up my data" and quickly disable "Automatic Restore"
    5. After being sure that the Automatic Restore option is off it will be safe to log into Google and you can continue installing preferred apps and custom settings.
This process will stop all applications and settings from restoring automatically and restoring original issues that usually resolve a number of issues."
    Good luck,

  • Mobile Me CONTACTS not coming down to iOS4 and lost visual voicemail

I updated my 3GS to iOS4 and everything seems to be working, howver my contacts haen't repopulated the phone form Mobile Me. they are all still there on Mobile Me, but when I go to contacts on the iPhone, there are none and unlike previously, opening contacts on the phone does not force a sync (no spinning clock-wheel)...
I have tried turning off the Mobile Me setting on the iphone and then restarting it, but still no contacts...
I also lost my visual voicemail.... when I go to voicemail, it wants me to physically dial up voicemail...
    Any ideas here?

Huh? A "bug" would affect all devices using the OS. I have no idea what you are talking about as push worked just fine here after allowing a little time for my phone to be re-provisioned by the network. That took longer than normal due, I'm sure, to the large number of folks trying to do the same thing I was. And we've all hear AT&T whine that we evil iPhone users are breaking their network.

  • IPhone 4: No 3G, edge or visual voicemail

    Hi,
My iPhone 4 has no 3G, edge or visual voicemail. I can only get on the internet using my wifi.
    I've tried:
    resetting network settings
    latest ios updates
creating a backup, then deleting file '8218978e4ab0a48035bb92653145a6be872ea858' from the backup folder and restoring (as suggested in a macrumors forum)
The internet tethering is constantly searching and never stops which I believe may be decreasing battery life.
This is my second iPhone 4, my previous one had the same problem and was subsequently replaced by O2.
I can only presume it could be my sim, but is that likely?
I've read other people have had these issues, but not all simultaneously.
Am I alone here, is there a fix????
Thanks for any help in advance

Went to Apple Store for help with this problem. They tested with one of their SIM cards and there was no problem with the network. Therefore, I was told this is a problem for AT&T to resolve having to do with activation. Called AT&T. Turns out that when my phone was activated, they cut off my data plan entirely instead of continuing it. After some discussion with AT&T support, they gave me back my data plan. I re-booted the phone, and everything is fine. I am happy. Everything is working on my new phone. Hope I love it now.

  • Iphone 3gs Upgrade to 4.2.1 deletes visual voicemail

I unfortunately have just upgraded my iphone 3GS to 4.2.1 and found that my visual voice mail is no longer a feature. When I go to the phone menu screen, the favorites, recents, contacts and keypad still work. When I touch the voicemail icon, it immediately calls my voicemail each time. It does not go to the visual voicemail screen, but instead shows the keypad and is calling my voicemail number. It won't even let me see my saved visual voicemails. This is a pretty big weekend to be out of touch. Is anyone else having this problem? Thank you for any feedback.

I upgraded my 3G to 4.2.1 last night and tried to set individual alert tones for SMS. Well, as everyone here probably knows, that was false advertising by Apple.
I saw the thread here, though, about visual voicemail and checked mine. Sure enough, no go. When I clicked the bottom-right icon for voicemail, it just dialed. I didn't need a PIN, though, it hooked me straight up. I hung up and called voicemail a couple of more times, switched to the contact list and back to voicemail and eventually I got the on-screen prompt for the PIN. I filled that in (and it was maybe a bit lucky I remembered it) and all was well again ... with the voicemail. Saved messages were present.

  • Version 6.0 Bundle 2426 does not work with Sprint Visual VoiceMail

I updated to the latest Sprint Bundle a few days ago and after the update Visual VoiceMail has become quite problematic to keep working. I regularly have to reboot my BB to play messages. The only temporary solution is to call my VM system, but the Visual VM system stinks compared to the old Sprint VoiceMail system, as messages are not kept longer than a week, and a third of the features are gone. I have looked and even called both Sprint and BB tech support and both are clueless. Sprint sent me updates to my phone via the network, asked me to remove the battery, ran the update profile and update PRL options in the mobile options screen, etc.. My next step is to take it into the Sprint repair center and have them downgrade the OS or do whatever they need to do. The previous Sprint build worked just fine with Visual VoiceMail so not sure what the problem is. Is anyone else experiencing this bug and how did you fix it? I am more limited as I am on a Mac. I wish I would have kept the latest build, as I unfortunately deleted it to save space (last time I will ever do that).
    John

Okay. For everyone who upgraded, download RIM's Version 6.0 build 1609 to your desktop computer. Open it and install it to your PC Go into Blackberry Desktop and it will recognize there is a new OS on your PC for your handset. Back up ALL of your contacts, messages, or pictures you have before doing this. Now, install the OLD bundle 1609 back onto the handset. This could take up to 10 minutes. After that, go to your 'Manage Connections" screen, hit "Mobile Network", then hit your BB button and select "Update Profile" then "Update PRL". This will re-provision your handset with the network. Call your VM system through the VVM app on the handset and it will re-connect it. The issue with taking it to a sprint store or doing a "Data Wipe" is that it DOESN'T remove the new build, it only wipes everything, but KEEPS the new build. You have to MANUALLY un-install it and downgrade to get the old command sub-structure back for VVM. Hope this helps, done it 22 times with other phones already.

  • How to make VM button call Voicemail (not Visual Voicemail) - T-Mobile

I have an iPhone 5 on T-Mobile, and the VM button takes me to non-functional visual voicemail. My wife has iPhone 5 too, also on T-Mobile, but her voicemail button calls her voicemail. How can I make my phone do that? (Because Visual Voicemail doesn't work)

What that button does is determined by the carrier file on your phone, there is no setting for you to change such. T-Mobile has enough iPhones on their network that I'm sure they have a way to deal with this. Have you gone to a T-Mobile store? If not, try doing so.
