Is there a "Replace All" command?

This seems like a no-brainer.... I found the "Ctrl+F" find and replace, but it only replaces a sindle instance of a text string. I also found the complext find dialog. It lets you find all occurances, but (apparently) you cannot do replaces from there. Is it possible to do a "Find and Replace All" in my PDF?

Is there a Delete All command for the Bulk Folder?

In the Trash folder when you click Edit you can delete all of the mail in that folder at once. However in the Bulk folder (usually SPAM) I haven't found a way to do the same. You have to select each email separately to delete. I would think that in the Buil folder there would be a way to select Delete All icon.
Anyone know if this is possible and how it's done?

Apple, fix this! If I can select delete all in the Trash folder, it's a no-brainer that we should be able to do in the SPAM folder.

Is there a "Disclose All" command?

In a Finder window, when in List view, Option-clicking the little disclosure triangle next to a folder not only reveals a list of that folder's contents, but of any sub-folders as well.
Hoping for consistency, I was expecting when I Option-clicked the disclosure triangle next to "Video Filters" (under the Filters tab in the Viewer), that ALL the filters for that clip would reveal their stats, but it looks like only the first one in the list does so, with the others all remaining in whatever state they were last left.
Tried various other ModifierKey-Click combos, but to no avail. Checked The Manual, but came up empty.
So -- does anyone know of a way to Reveal All (and Collapse All) the filter info disclosure triangles at once (or do I need to write up another FCP feature request)?

Am I being stupid or missing something obvious, but does the Replace All function only apply to one file??!! Is there no Replace All across all files?
If not, this basic editing function should be in the next patch, as IMHO, this needs to be there. I know the Refactor does a Rename, but this is limited in its scope.
If I change a variable name, I have to open all files in Texpad and do the find and replace with it.
Its things like this that can make or break a product.

This may not be a high priority issue to you, as I see no response yet, but a good editor is at the heart of a good IDE.
If the idea was to move VB guys to JAVA via Creator, it is nearly there, except a few rough edges.
On the whole, I am a big Creator fan, just want to be spoiled a bit more.

Is there a replacement plug in similar to the "Variations" command that was thoughtlessly aborted in CS6... ANYTHING SIMILAR AT ALL.
I know what all you "pros" will say, but I have been using it since it was created and I like it

I don't think there is at this point, since cs6 can't be run in the 32 bit mode and adobe hasn't ported the variations filter to 64 bit on the mac side.

I sent iTunes to trash. I was able to recover the program but have to "put back" songs one at a time. Is there any way to put back from trash using the "select all" command?

The prgram is in one location and the library (media + library files) are in another. Sending it all to the trash would take some pretty delibrate multiple actions and digging through multiple folders, so I don't know how this was managed unless there's something in Snow Leopard that's new. Occasionally I have moved a file to the trash in Finder that I didn't want to and I can use Finder's "undo" to undo the last move. With many files...?

If you select all the songs you want to change, Be it one song or an akbum, or an Artist, Or Genre, or playlist. Then Right mouse click and Get Info. You then get a slightly different from normal Get Info box as this is the One for Multiple items.
In there have a look at the tags and see if the one you want to changes is in there. There are a few tabs so if for example you wanted to change the Media Type from Home Movie to Movie go to the Options tab and select Movie and OK and it will change the whole selection.

You can only sync with one ITunes library. It you switch iTunes library iTunes will erase the iPod and replace it contents with what is in the library of the new computer.

Photoshop CS6 Extended Load/Replace Texture Command Issues

In the 3d Materials Panel in Adobe Photoshop Extended CS6, the REPLACE TEXTURE and LOAD TEXTURE commands for the 3d materials seem to create a single "smart" texture that all other textures created via the "replace/load texture" commands link to.
For instance, to texture a sphere using a Photoshop file, I first created a file called "horizontal stripes for 3d peel.psd" and saved it on my desktop.
I went to the Materials Panel>Diffuse>(Clicked icon to right of "Diffuse") and chose "Load Texture>"horizontal stripes for 3d peel.psd," to apply it to my sphere. I then edited this diffuse file by right-clicking the icon to the right of "Diffuse," choosing "Edit" and adding a color layer at the top of the layer stack, then saving (not saving as) and closing the Diffuse .PSB smart object file.
I then loaded a texture to the Opacity material of my sphere using the same Photoshop file on my desktop called "horizontal stripes for 3d peel.psd",
going to Materials Panel>Opacity>(Clicking the icon to the right of "Opacity") and choosing "Load Texture>"horizontal stripes for 3d peel.psd," When I opened this file to edit it by right-clicking the icon to right of "Opacity" and choosing "Edit," I found I'd loaded not the original file on my desktop that I had chosen, but my edited "Diffuse" file. Furthermore, these Diffuse and Opacity files appear not to be independently editable--they behave like linked Smart Objects, and when one is edited, the other is updated with the changes.
Is this a bug? I can't find any mention of this behavior in the Photoshop User Manual. I'm using Windows 7, and I get the same behavior on 2 different computers with Photoshop.

I had hoped to use the Load/Replace texture command as a quick way to load up independently editable versions of the same file to the different 3d material attributes (opacity, shine, etc.), but that doesn't seem possible. Or is there a better way to do this?

I just started working with Extruded 3d shapes, and 3d text, and, as it turns out, this is actually a dandy feature, since these 3d objects each contain multiple elements to apply textures to (ex. Front Inflation Material, Front Bevel Material, Extrusion Material, etc.) that would be pain to edit individually, rather than via a single Smart Layer, especially if you plan to use the same materials for each.
So, anyway, onwards to more adventures as I climb the Photoshop 3d learning curve. I've been a wee-bit frustrated that this learning curve seems to be more difficult because the Adobe Photoshop_CS6 reference PDF file seems to reference mostly CS5 and, more often than not, references CS5 interfaces. For instance, in the CS6 manual—the sections on 3d concepts and Tools, 3d Panel Settings, 3D rendering and saving—to name a few—all explicitly refer to Photoshop CS5 Extended! So, if anyone knows of a detailed source of CS6 information, I’d be grateful.

Replace all ', , ' inside string

i have long string and with pl/sql i want to replace all ', ,' with ', null,'.
I can use replace function like:
prepare_insert := replace(prepare_insert,', ,',', null,');
but it will only replace first ', ,' not all. How can i replace all?

I think using bind variables or the using clause in the execute immediate statement would solve the problem.
But of cause you can do it also the hard (and slow) way.
The problem is that your search string is not correct. It does include a leading "," and leaving ",". However if the leavaing "," is also the leading "," of the next replacement part then the function can't take this into account.
Solution 1) Take care of this while building the string in the first place.
While concating the pieces togeather use NVL(value,'null'). If you are sure that there s no value, then write NULL.
Solution 2) Use a double replace

IMPDP question -- Replace all objects

I have a situation where I would like to use Data Pump to refresh a test database schema weekly from our production instance schema. I would like to set up a job to do this with data pump. I can use data pump (impdp) with success using the network_link with no issue. My question is does anyone know if there is a way (or can recommend a way) to update all schema objects in this refresh job? For example, I want to bring over all tables, data, sequences, plsql, etc. The impdp command allows for TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=REPLACE to replace existing tables/data, is there a similar commadn so I can do this for specifically sequences, etc? Is there a replace command for other objects types when using impdp? If not anyone have any ideas how I can easily do this?
I know I could write a sql script to drop and recreate all, but then I run into the problem of having to regrant privileges to sequences, synonyms, plsql, etc.
Looking for ideas.

- Is TEST always the exact same schema (DDL) as PROD?YES, or should I say it better be as I do not typically allow for direct changes to be made to production without running through test. Although if we are refreshing test from production, any DDL changes would eventually be updated in test from their values in prod anyway.
- Have you considered using replication or CTAS instead?Replication, YES, but there is a lot of overhead for something I don't think warrants it. CTAS would work, but drop and recreating is slower than IMPDP.

There is IGNORE=N, which forces you to pre-drop the tables in TEST, thereby guaranteeing freshness.Does this option drop the objects or does it just err out and require that you pre-drop them by some other means. I suppose it is the latter..
Because IMPDP is good at brining privileges over. I am considering the following.
1. Connect to TEST, drop user XYZ cascade;
2. impdp command using network_link option.
Does doing this miss something?
I agree that impdp log file will have to be interrogated for errors.

Smartview 11.1.2 & Excel 2003 SP3-Replace All Error

My client has Smartivew 11.1.2 with Excel 2003 and is doing a private connection to an Essbase cube for ad-hoc analysis. All comes back fine but client does the Excel replace-all functionality and it throws the "Smartview handled an unknown exception thrown by Microsoft Office"....client can hit ok and the replace-all works but not sure why we get the error. This issue is not happening with Excel 2007...anyone see this? Thanks so much!

How can I replace ALL Contacts on the iPhone with my MobileMe Contacts?

I have removed all duplicates in AddressBook on my various Macs and have uploaded the master copy to MobileMe. I would now like to replace all Contacts on my iPhone with that MobileMe master.
I have followed the steps in the KB article for syncing the iPhone but when I get to the step of turning on the iPhone Settings for the Contacts it looks like the sync wants to merge the contacts. Of course, I do not want to "merge" since that will reintroduce all those duplicates.
I suppose I could manually delete each of the the hundreds of contacts that are on my phone until it is empty ... and then turn on the iPhone setting for Contacts. That way it will have no option other than "add." But surely there is a more efficient way.
(FWIW, when I turned OFF the setting for the Calendar it did empty the iPhone's calendar, which is what I wanted. But it didn't do that for the Contacts -- I turned that setting off but I was not asked if I wanted to keep or toss the Contacts. They are all still on the phone.)
This is an OG iPhone, if that matters.

Brilliant! That worked like a charm.
I created a new User Account on one of my Macs and logged into it. I connected my iPhone to its iTunes and checked my iPhone's Sync Contacts option in iTunes. Since that account's address book was basically empty (two dummy contacts, one for Apple and one for this new user), I ended up with only those two Contacts on the phone. Then, going back to my real User account (which does not have syncing turned on in iTunes) the phone synced nicely with the MobileMe account and populated the phone with all the MobileMe contacts and groups.

If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.

Is it possible to replace all assets in a project?

I have just finished the first DVD of a series consisting of 26 menus (18 buttons each, except for the main menu which has 25 buttons), 75 playlists, 323 video files, 24 audio files, 33 timelines (up to 45 chapters each). In every case a video file corresponds to just one chapter. Total 3,4 Gb more or less.
I had a lot of problems (general error, out of memory, sorry an abnormal condition has occurred...) during the DVD build process, and I finally had to start from scratch and create new versions every few steps to get this thing to build. Took a long time as I had to save as, then build to see if it worked, then close the file, then reopen and start a new version, ended up with 27 versions.
I have to prepare the rest of the DVDs, which will have exactly the same structure, although some of the videos may be slightly different in length (just a few seconds difference).
Is it possible at all just to rename all the assets to avoid re authoring the whole thing, and then review only the timelines including the different lenghted videos?

When faced with a similar Project (ended up being a set of 18 DVD-5's with the same structure), I built a test Project to work out the details and finally got everything as I wanted, then burned a DVD RW.
I took the "test" and built a "template" with all of my Bins/Folders, Menus (knowing that I'd change these, as each DVD would be similar, but unique) and Imported just the Assets that would be common, like the First Play and a lead-in to the Main Menu. This I Saved to a master folder. For each individual DVD, I opened that "template" Project and did a Save_As into the appropriate folder for that piece of the Project, i.e. Barry_DVDs_01. For each of these, I Imported the Assets unique to that phase of the overall Project. Then, it was just a matter of creating the individual Playlists, etc., and linking. I helped myself by doing a Flowchart in Illustrator. For each phase, I swapped out the Menus, and altered the Links to suit. This gave me the full schematic of each sub-Project. I used these for myself in the Linking process, and also used them for the client to sign off on. He knew exactly what was going to be on each DVD in the set, and how the navigation would work. In Illustrator, I kept things in their Layers, so it was easy to make changes for each sub-Project. Any changes after the Flowchart had been approved cost more $. The client knew this and could see exactly what was happening at every step.
Though it's some additional work, if you have the Project (your "test") finialized, and know that you'll be duplicating it many times, just with different Assets, I'd urge you to adopt something similar. It should not take long to re-create a blank Project with all of the common aspects in it. Use this as a "template," and do a Save_As of it, to begin each phase. It keeps the XML Links that have to be re-done to a minimum, 'cause you're starting with a semi-clean slate for each one.
As Jbowden points out, just replacing the Assets can lead to problems. I did not even want to go the Replace Assets command route, to keep the Project file from possibly getting corrupted by overwriting the Links, even using the correct, approved process.
Just make sure to place a copy of your "template" Project well away from the area that your working in on your I/O system. Make it Read Only, for safe-keeping, in case you forget to do the Save_As. I actually made two copies - one onto a DVD just for safety.
