Hi, we're used to proctool to get rid of some processes, using proctool in Solaris 2.6, but since our upgrade to Solaris9 all we got was prstat ...
Proctool was easy as right clicking the process and killing it.
Are there another tool in Solaris SPARCE 9 to replace it ?

However, the days of upgrading every other version are gone. Before Adobe released the Cloud, starting with CS6, they amended the upgrade policy and were requiring upgrades with every version.
But that all disappeared soon after when Adobe chose to discontinue perpetually licensed versions altogether last year and go 100% Cloud (subscription) only when they launched CC. They're still selling CS6 for those who insist on it but it'll no doubt disappear over time and there will be no CS7 perpetually licensed version.
The future in Adobe's eyes without doubt is the Cloud, requiring monthly payments and automated periodic license checks on Adobe servers via the internet.

I'm unable to run AppleScript.app after upgrading to Mavericks, is this as it should be, and is there a replacement for AppleScript?

When I navigate to the Applications/Utiilities folder, and attempt to open the AppleScript editor I get an error popup with:
The document "AppleScript Editor.app" could not be opened.
Has AppleScript gone away, or is my OS Installation broken?

Is there a replacement for Lazarus (form recovery extension for Safari)?

I used to use Lazarus to save form content (e.g., when a poorly designed site's page validation flushes all the content after finding something to nitpick). After upgrading to Mavericks a few weeks ago, I noticed that Lazarus was no longer working. The developers site (http://getlazarus.com ) is still active (though the "contact us" form fails to accept any submissions), but there doesn't appear to have been an update to the extension for over a year.
Is there any other extension/trick for saving Safari form content (and repopulating it when returning to a form/field)?

I, too, was sad to see Lazarus break. It appears the developers abandoned it, and certainly aren't paying attention to Safari usage.

This can be installed via any Safari extension that can inject userscripts into webpages, like the old "NinjaKit" or the new "Javascript Blocker."

Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.

I just upgraded to Windows 8 with a new HP computer but I have lost a fabulous photo editor Photosmart Premier. The drivers on my OEM cd would not install so I have downloaded all the drivers for my C4680 colour printer for Windows 8 but Photosmart was not included. Is it called something else now and I have just missed it? Thanx for your consideration. SB

Is there a replacement for avery labels software in Lion

I just spent an hour battling one of the clumsiest pieces of software I've ever dealt with in three decades of computer use. Avery labels! Used to be a snap, under (gulp!) Windows, but now it's an unmitigated disaster.*
I have tried to use OpenOffice without much improvement; and I haven't found anything in Pages that really helps.
And it's not nice of me to bite my wife's head off when she asks me to do "a couple of labels for my latest submission." It's not her fault -- it's Avery's!
* I cannot set one format for multiple labels -- neither justification nor size -- and have it stay from one label to the next. Often when I copy and paste an address (or in this instance, title, copyright date and size for a piece of art), Avery decides to change the size on me. But when I change it back to what I had originally set . . . it accepts that. Egad!
Also, I printed up a bunch of labels, saw some were no good. Decided I'd change them (even more than once) and print them below the existing ones. But on the same page? No way. Avery won't let me erase more than one at a time. Double egad!

Disregard this request. I found the Lion version of AM in the \applications\utilities folder.
I have a similar problem. The version of AM in my Applications folder does not work since upgrading from Snow Leopard. When I click on the app file I get a screen splash saying "You can't use this version of the application Activity Monitor.app with this version of Mac OS X. You have Activity Monitor.app 10.5." I did a finder search and this is the only version of AM. When I downloaded OS 10.7.2 from the Apple Store there was no instruction to delete the old copy of AM prior to install. I now have 10.7.5 and still no activity monitor. Is there any way to download AM as a stand alone program? Do I have any other options for reinstalling this valuable program?

My ATI Radeon 9600 xt is overheating, sticking and acting crazy...thought about putting a fan (band aid ) on it...but would rather replace it...any other compatible cards with a dual DVI and tv port? Everything online seems to be either discontinued or refurbished for over $200...help!

Most of the AGP cards have been discontinued as PCI-e is just so much better. You might try checking at computer repair shops that aren't big business like Bestbuy & such, they may have older cards you could buy, or try on places like Ebay/Amazon/Pawn shops/etc.
The 9600 xt isn't dual DVI either afaik. I believe it's just TV, DVI and VGA.

May be you are looking on polling ability of DB Adapter which is definitely an option but I always suggest to use Oracle GoldenGate for such use cases.

Yes, this is easy to do in LabVIEW 6. I am attaching a simple VI that monitors the line states and lets you control DTR and RTS.

Can I get my screen replaced for free?

At a New Years Eve party I was riding my little cousins Green Machine bike thing and I turned a corner and I had my iphone 4 in my front pocket and I turned a corner and it slipped out and hit the concrete ground. It has a shatter place at the top left corner on the white part on the front then it continues down to the home button,and across the top of the screen. I didn't have my Otter Box on it but I put it on after that happened. It covers up the shatter on my screen but thats pretty much it. I've been seeing people on here that has been getting there's replaced for free, so I was wondering if I could get my screen replaced. I don't have the Apple Care thing but I know that I have the Apples Warranty until December 16, 2012. Does anyone know if that covers getting my screen replaced for free or anything? I reallly need a new screen, I just don't want to spend a fortune on it! Please help!!!

Time stamp from DV capture -- replacement for dvdate?

In CS3, there is a plugin dvdate that can extract the date/time from captured DV avi file and overlay this information.
In CS4, this plugin no longer works (crash) and author simply said it does not work.
Is there any replacement for dvdate? Or CS4 now supports it natively?

I don't really understand why Adobe has to break such a basic function in CS4.
Does DVMP work with Premiere? It does not look like a plugin. There is a feature to fix start timecode. However, the Premiere CS4 Timecode effect only shows time, not date. So it does not seem to be an easy workaround.
