Is there a safety assistance feature on the s4?

Hi, I saw on youtube that there is a 'safety assistant' feature on the s4, but don't have it on my phone.
Where can I find that? It's supposed to be at {Settings/My Device/Safety Assistance (under Blocking Mode).
This is a very useful tool in case of emergency or someone trying to hijack or following you.
Please help.

You may have been watching a video for a S4 on another carrier or from another country.  Not all S4s will be the same across phone carriers and countries.  A US T-mobile Galaxy S4 may have a different menu layout and or features from a US Verizon Galaxy S4.  But I have heard of this feature on the S3.  It may be on the S4 in another place.  good luck.

  • I currently have Imessage turned off on my phone since there is no blocking feature on the Iphone 4.  If I change my phone number and turn on Imessage, how do I make sure I won't get Messages from person I have blocked?

I have the Iphone 4 but before this I had a different phone and had blocked someone from contacting me via calls/texts.  Unbeknownst to me, when I got the Iphone 4, that I cannot block Imessages.   I have turned off Imessage for the time being but I'm seriously considering changing my phone number.  If I change the number with my carrier and turn Imessage back on,  what do I have to do to ensure that any previous messages don't come through and any future messages cannot be sent?

  • Is there a "remember me" feature for the communities?

It is very displeasing and irksome to have to login almost every time I come to the communities.
Virtually all decent forums on the Planet Web have a "Remember Me" feature, I wonder why these communities have not had this spirit here since 1969?
    Please implement!
    Thanks in advance.

I hope that you are just a random apologist and not an official representative from Apple, because your response does not make sense whatsoever.
There are thousands of services, from Gmail and Yahoo! Mail, to Amazon and eBay, to Facebook and Twitter, from GitHub to BitBucket, that are very secure and are used by millions of people everyday that have implemented one or another form of Remember Me without any problems.
This fact by itself is enough to prove that your argument does not make sense, but I will continue.
This is a missing feature. And it is causing poor user experience. There is no good in finding lame excuses for fanboyishly defending and justifying missing features and problems in Apple products and services.
Somehow those of us using the forums can manage to login without complaining.
Somehow you don't have any other options, because like it or not, Remember Me is not implemented here, so if you need to ask something here you have to live with this, but that shouldn't stop you from asking for this feature to be implemented. After all, if you are concerned with the security implications of "Remember Me", you don't have to use it.
If it's that displeasing and irksome, then you are free to stop coming here.
You must surely have won quite a few Nobel prizes in the field of Logic and Deduction. This is the official forum for Apple products and services, so unfortunately many of us have to cope with its issues when we want to ask something on Apple's official forums.
    Tell Apple  feedback
No one here really cares if you can't manage to simply log into a secure site as thousands of others do. This is not Facebook or Twitter (thank god). So complain to Apple not us. We can't help you.

  • Is there an alarm clock feature on the new iPod Touch?

Is there a feature (menu item) that allows you to set a time at which the internal speaker will play a selected playlist?
If not, is there some sort of App that would allow for this?

Well, maybe they are listening, but it seems to me they are not interested in what we are saying.
I already posted feedback twice because of this issue and I know of others who did so too. Nobody never even got an answer. Not even an automated one. And more than 8 months and 3 firmware updates later, the feature is still missing.
I guess the suspicion some others have raised that this has been made intentionally so you can't use music as alarm tones because Apple wants to sell ringtones for the iPhone that uses the same firmware basis as the iPod Touch, unfortunately seems to be true. This is the only believable explanation for the lack of this feature I have ever been offered. And it would explain, why Apple may be listening, but is not interested in changing it.
For those waiting for an application to solve the problem: It will not happen. Apples restrictions for applications do not allow a program that could do this.

  • Is there a block select feature in the CVI editor?

I'm a CVI newbie and am becoming familiar with the environment.  One thing I haven't found yet is a block select feature.  Can anyone help me out on this?  I'm looking for something functionally similar to, say, Alt-drag in MS Word.
    Thanks.

Yes. You can switch between various selection modes by pressing <Ctrl-Insert>, or by clicking on the symbol in the status line, see attached figure.

  • I have just installed firefox 4 andnotice that there is no dropdown feature on the back/forwrd buttons. is this not available with this version or can it be activated somehow?

my previous version of firefox had a drop
down arrow that enabled me to go back to a location of my choice, often further back than what the 'back' button gives. can anything be done about this?

It's only the little caret next to the back button that's gone. If you click and hold on the back button, it will still drop down.

  • Are there any ADA features for the visually impared built into SL?

    Hi,
I am just about to buy a mac Mini for my Mother-in-law who suffer from macular degeneration. I was hoping that there might be some features built into Snow Leopard that were designed to assist the visually impared?

It's difficult to generalise for any individual user, as almost every partially sighed person has different preferences.
As V.K. pointed out, there are several features built into the Universal Access pane of System Preferences.
However, you can begin with the Desktop & Screen Saver pane in System Preferences. You can choose from a wide variety of backgrounds to give the appropriate glare reduction and/or contrast enhancement that might be necessary. Try first the Desktop Pictures folder itself, and the Nature folder (Ladybug and Tranquil Surface can be restful for stressed eyes). Wave, in the Black & White collection, can also be helpful, as can Pinstripe in the Patterns folder. Finally, it's worth exploring the Solid Colours, as icons and such show up most clearly against these.
You can also change the background colours of Finder windows (unfortunately only in Icon view), by using the View—>Show View Options menu command (shortcut Command-J), selecting the "Color" radio button and clicking on the white square. This opens the Colour Picker which enables the user to fine-tune the background to suit his or her vision. It can be very helpful to set the backgrounds of different folders to strongly contrasting colours, as they can be easily identified and selected without zooming in to see what they are. For example, if the Applications window is set to blue, the Utilities to a light brown, the Home folder to red, and the Documents folder to yellow, they are very easy to distinguish on the Desktop.
You can change the size of icons and the text identifying them, also in the Finder's View Options pane, and the Highlight colour (in the Appearance pane of System Preferences).
Moving on, in the Universal Access pane, of course there is VoiceOver itself, which enables even totally blind people to operate the Mac more or less comprehensively. However, learning this may be somewhat daunting to a person who is losing her sight, particularly someone new to the Mac. As A Brody indicated, this also provides Braille output, though again there might be a learning curve if the lady does not already know Braille. VoiceOver can be set to use Grade 1 (uncontracted) Braille, which is much easier than the contracted (Grade 2) forms.
Also in Universal Access, as Dire Wolf pointed out, there are several zoom options. The simplest is to hold down the Ctrl key and scroll with mouse or trackpad. There are also fixed zoom positions that may be more suitable, as they can be reached with a single keystroke. The zoom range is up to 20 times magnification. The zoom can be configured to follow the keyboard focus (though this works best in Apple applications, and some third-party apps do not work in this way), or to keep the cursor in the middle of the screen, or to move the image when the pointer reaches an edge of the screen.
The colours of the screen can be inverted, giving white on black instead of black on white, as referred to by Steven. Other colours may give a somewhat strange appearance—but it is worth experimenting with desktop and window backgrounds to give the most satisfactory solution. Alternatively, the whole display can be switched to greyscale, and the contrast tweaked to give maximum readability.
Finally, the third-party application VisioVoice provides a wide range of specialist contrast-enhancement and readability tools, as well as the ability to speak text or convert it to sound files for use in iTunes or on MP3 players and iPods. I know one person who uses the Text Enlarger window to show white text on a dark blue background, as this suits her eye condition best. Others prefer yellow text against muddy brown…
    Hope this helps!

  • After updating to the latest version of Firefox on my Mac there is no progress bar for the page load. I really miss this feature and can't seem to find a way to obtain it.

The page load progress bar that was on the lower right of the window is no longer there. After updating to the latest version of Firefox on my Mac there is no progress bar for the page load. I really miss this feature and can't seem to find a way to obtain it. The tab has a circular progress wheel but this is useless for determining a stuck or slow loading page.
PLEASE NOTE: I am typing this in from a Windows based work computer but am asking about my Apple MacBook Pro that i use at home.

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.<br />
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time.<br />
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default <b>about:home</b> Home page.<br />
    Another possibility is to use:

  • I no longer have the ability to use my IPad at work as a digital picture frame after the upgrade. This was the main reason I bought a second iPad for my business. Apparently this feature is no longer available. Is there an app that would work the same?

Is there an app that will act as a digital picture frame ( slide show ) when in screen saver mode? IOS7 no longer has this feature.this is very upsetting as it is one of the main reasons I bought an iPad for my store.

You still have the option of using the slideshow feature in the Photos app.  It's not in the lock screen anymore, but it is stll available there.

  • Is there going to be support by the nvidia web page concerning gtx 680 M and the software features provided for it ( e.g. Drivers, Mac version of 3D TV Play)?

By now there were no imac features to be found on the official nvidia-webpage, though there was full support for windows based products.
I'm certainly satisfied with the product quality and therefor think it would deserve equal maintenance and usability.
    yours sincerely

In general, Apple does Not support your using any downloads from their video card Manufacturer's websites.  Apple provides you with all of the firmware and driver Updates from Nvidea that they feel are stable with Apple's hardware and logic board in the iMac.  The required Updates are provided to you by the OS X Updates Apple periodically provides.  iMacs are NOT like a PC in this manner.  You do not have to and should not be downloading software from the nVidea site.

This is something the app developer enables within airplay mirroring.
There is nothing you can do to enable that.

  • Is there a feature in the iphone?

ok to be honest i'm getting fed up with the fact atleast i dont think there's a recording feature for my iphone besides recording apps, I'd like to record phone conversations and such is there any way or any apps that can do that? i had a theory of putting on speaker and just using a recording app news flash! recording apps dont record phone convos.. D; can anyone help? (ps: i own the FIRST gen iphone)

I don't believe so, and one of the reasons might be due to legal issues with recording a phone conversation without the person being recorded being aware of the recording.

  • Is there a feature of the Color Marker Tool missing?

Why won't it sample a color as a variable when placed by an action?  Is there a step or feature I'm overlooking?
I've done a bit of due diligence and the only solution I've found is an external script.  But considering the function and features of the Marker tool it would seem like that functionality has been overlooked.  I say this because if a Marker can be placed by an Action to a specific set of coordinates then it would seem to follow that the characteristics of that location would change from one canvas to the next.  As such being able to set the foreground color based on that change would seem to be the key function of the tool.
So what am I missing?  If I'm not missing something it would seem like Adobe should be able to provide a patch promptly and without fanfare.

Sure the Color Sampler Tool except that it doesn't actually sample it just describes the color characteristics of a specific location.
Having the tool should also have Action functions of it's features as the default since the other way to get a useable color sample is to use the color sampler tool (or eyedropper)  The script should just be embedded in the Marker and executed when the Marker is used as an Action step.
Creating the tool at all would seem to have the Action functionality as a requisite.  Otherwise it's just another Eyedropper that happens to know where it is in the canvas.  Useful at times but a bit frivolous.
I like to do a bit of research before I submit feature requests but I might do that, and thanks for reading.
