Is there a save function for online forms?

Hi, I've created an online form which requests quite a lot of information from those who it is sent to. Because of its size, I have made use of the skip logic rules to so that users can quickly skip sections that don't apply to them. Notwithstanding this, the form asks questions which users may need to reseach and come back to so it wouldbe really useful if the form had a save function. Does anyone know if such a function exists and if not, whether there are there imminent plans to develope one?
If not, regreattably I will have to try and find another solution for online information gather that has a save and return function.

Also to expand on this- the ability to print the web form would be brillant.
a few options for the web forms submit to print, save.
Web forms after/before submission maybe to save as a pdf locally - which then could be printed out.

Cannot do save function for existing form

Just got a new computer with Acrobat Standard 11. When I open an existing form and enter data into those fields and do a save I am told must change the file name. I cannot save this form in the same file name. I can in an another name but I do not want the same form name with multiple names. So I came to this forum for help in how to solve this problem. Message said something like must save to a different name. I do not have the exact error. It is left at work on my computer there.
No the folder is not restricted. Can save form after adding data but it has to be in a different name. It is not opened from an attachment. It is open from a folder on a network server.

Features for online forms

At some point in the future will there be the ability to save forms that are created in Adobe FormsCentral and then embedded in websites? For longer forms, this would be a great help so that individuals could complete the form at their own pace.

Well, the whole point is to get away from fillable PDF forms and make all forms available embedded into the website. Which is why I asked if some day the save feature for embedded forms might be possible.

No, there is no user calibration for the touch screen. If a reset or restore don't cure the problem, you'll need to take or send the iPhone to Apple for replacement.

Are there functions for the opposite direction as well?
Read: I send XML docs to Oracle DB and they are (atomatically) INSERTED into existing relational tables ?

Save data for online pdf

Hi!
Don´t know if I doing this to complex, but I would like to work in an online pdf, and be able to save data - and on open i load the xml file.
flow
1) start form - lets say it has 10 fields
2) fill out 5 fields and save data - export/submit it to a script that can save an xml on webserver
3) on open, the pdf form opens with data. Could also be that an xdp was uploaded, which had a ref to pdf.
Is there a better way - come with your surgetions! I would like the server-site script to be PHP, which a have a little experince with..

No, you have to do it by creating duplicate and then renaming. In the Documents list, tap the Edit button, select the file, and tap the "Duplicate selected document" icon at the top, second from the left.
To rename: Edit > select file > Rename (icon to the left of the trash can)

Save versus Save As for PDF Forms

I download a PDF fill-in form. Opening it with Adobe Reader, I see just below the tool bar a banner that says: "Please fill out the following form, You can save data typed into the form."
I partially insert data. When I select Save (NOT Save As), I get the Save As navigation window. If I do not close the fill-in form, and insert more data, the next time I select Save, it saves without the Save As navigation window.
To demonstrate, try the U.S. individual tax return Form 1040, which can be downloaded from http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040.pdf.
I reported this same problem a few years ago, citing Windows XP and an earlier version of Adobe Reader (version 10.?). Is there a plan and schedule to fix this?

All of the applications listed above -- just a few of those I have on my PC -- silently save when I request "Save" for an altered EXISTING file. Note that, contrary to comment #6, Word (from Office 2007) is among them.

Save Options for my forms

I've designed some forms using Adobe designer but now when my clients fill them out they can't save then edit. They can only save as a pdf which locks in the changes. I need them to be able to save then go back and make edits and not have to start over each time.
I'd love for someone to help point me in the right direction as I'm stuck.

I don't know wether you've already found the solution for this (many people have had the same issue, and there are several posts about it) - but if you haven't, I hope this helps:
In your form, do as follows:
Add a button (not the email submit button, just the "button")
Set the Control type to Submit(under your Object tab)
On the Submit tab (under your Object tab), add "mailto:[email protected]" in the Submit to URL box
Change the Submit As drop down to 'PDF' (your other options are XML, XDP and FDF)
Save the form
Open the form in Adobe Professional 8.0 (not livecycle designer)
Go to the Advanced option on the toolbar and select "Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader" which will require you to save the file again.
And the you're ready to go!

Problem with Save functionality for a Screen - Field

Hi Experts,
I have included a custom field with list box option to an infotype. The new filed displays the values based on the values selected in the standard field which has a list box option.
Now if we enter the transaction in change mode and change the standard field value without pressing ENTER and click SAVE button, it gets saved with an improper value in the custom field. The reason being the custom field values with drop down list is retreived only after we press enter (POV is triggered) after selecting a standard field.
Options tried:
I have included an error message (in PAI) to stop the values being saved, but the screen beomes disabled.
I have done my validation only on the custom field as there is no other possibility to validate any other fields on the screen (all are standard). Here the error message pops up and the field is in the enable mode, but it does not retrieve the possible values for the custom field based on my earlier selection for the standard field.( Because as POV does not get triggered in this case)
Ex. Std field value = USA
Custom field = United States of America
I changed the value in Standard field to = UK and click SAVE - It get saved
Now how to stop it from SAVING and let it know that there is an error in the custom field and it needs to select the right value from the list ie - United Kingdom.

Perhaps a solution is to save the code value, not the text for the code, and only display the text. In this way, the database would have UK and when you re-entered the screen, a PBO module could obtain the text for UK for display.
Or, if you must store the text value instead of the code (seems redundant...you can look up the text anytime), an enhancement to the save to database logic to obtain the correct value from the current value of the code and save that to the database....

Graphical data input for online forms

Is there a field type that allows graphical input data to be used within a livecycle pdf/xml form, i.e. the output from the form will be a series of coordinates the user enters by drawing within the field with a mouse or some other such device?
If not, can the comment tools be used for this purpose? The pencil tool is used to draw anywhere on the form and the coordinates are sent at the point of submission.
I'd be very grateful for comments and suggestions.

Hi,
Potential solutions depend on what the user will be using to access the form. If they are using the full version of Acrobat then they can automatically comment / annotate a form. However if they are using Reader then you will have to enable the form for comments. If you are using LC Reader Extensions to enable the form then you can include the option for the user to comment on the form. On the other hand if you are reader enabling through Acrobat then you cannot reader enable a static or dynamic form allowing a user to place comments / annotate a form. With Acrobat you can only enable a flattened PDF to allow Reader comments.
Attached is an example of a solution I implemented which was based on the current mouse position. There was a list of attributes and conditions to which related to the 10 markers. The user could then position the markers based on the SWOT. This was inspired by Thom Parker's fly swatter examples on www.pdfscripting.com. You might be able to work up a similar solution, where the user clicks a grid and the page coordiantes are assigned to a field. You will proably need to have a constant to convert the page coordiantes to the coordinated system you are working to.

my requirement is provide input field on the header portion , when i hit ' save and print preview' it should save and preoview the the whole data.
i have provided input field on the header.. but not sure how to get the print functionality in fPM component.
and also how to find what smart form/pdf using by any webdynpro component? where to check?
by input field shou;d be displayed on the existing form, when I use save and print button.

Hi,
First thing is to get the smart form name put a external break point in F.M SSF_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME
and debug on save button this way you will get the smartform name.
If it's a standard FPM component enhance the component and in post exit on 'save and print'
You can get the OTF data from the smartform now and then can convert it to PDF CONVERT_OTF
