Is there a security fix for Java 6 Update 34 for OS X 10.5.8?

Firefox is warning me my Java plug in is still a security risk, despite having the latest update for my system. Apple do not seem to have fixed Java 6 Update 34 for 10.5.8 users, only Java 6 Update 35, which is only for OS X 10.7 and higher.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated, as I need Java for online tax returns!
Thanks, in advance?

P.S. Why are Apple ignoring their 10.5.8 customers? Not all of us can afford to replace our Macs with the latest models. Some of Apple's recent sharp practices regarding customer service and loyalty, are reminiscent of Microsoft's when it had an almost total monopoly on the PC software market.

Update your Apple devices and systems as soon as possible to the latest available versions. Do not use untrusted networks (especially WiFi) while traveling, until you can update the devices from a trusted network. On unpatched mobile and laptop devices, set “Ask to Join Networks” setting to OFF, which will prevent them from showing prompts to connect to untrusted networks.

  • Security fix for Acrobat & Reader 8.1.2

I just installed the security fix for Acrobat & Reader 8.1.2 from this link:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb08-15.html
After the update there is nothing to indicate that it is actually installed.
Going to Help About both Acrobat & Reader still shows Version 8.1.2 as before.
Is there a way to tell if the patch is installed?

My problem is same as Post #2
I have downloaded the security update and still see AcroRd32.exe as File version 8.1.0.137. I've done this on more than one machine running XP/SP2 with every Windows update applied except SP3. I have deleted Acrobat Reader via Control Panel and then for good measure deleted the sub-directory C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader manually.
I downloaded again, ran updates until I got "There are no updates available at this time."
I ran the security update as stated in the posts above(Post #16). This was verified via
Computer Management > System Tools > Event Viewer
Product: Adobe Acrobat and Reader 8.1.2 Security Update 1 (KB403742) -- Installation operation completed successfully.
There are 2 files in C:\Program File\Adobe\Security Update
    HotFix64.exe and RdrSU.mst
I just don't see where AcroRd32.exe version 8.1.2.215 or whatever is supposed to come from?
I'm running this as Administrator and on 3 different machines each with the same result.

We've reached out to the Hotmail team and they've determined that this is a bug in their code. (It was masked by a timing issue in 3.5 that was fixed in 3.6.) We've worked with them to develop a fix but they may not have deployed it yet.

  • I've only had my iphone 5s for a week. I keep getting an error message of "Server has stopped responding."  I need the server to work. Does anyone know if there is a "fix" for the problem? Other wise, I probably best return for a refund and get a Samsung.

Unlikely.  Based on the complete lack of detail of the issue provided it is entirely possible the same issue would occur.
Unless and until the user provides some actual details of the problem, there is nothing the indicate that the issue is with the iPhone.

  • I'm unable to sync my contacts with the new iPhone 5 and my 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe. Will there be a fix for this in the next update?

I previously had an iPhone 4 synced and paired with my 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe and had no issues. Now I have a new iPhone 5 and am able to sync the phone but the contacts will not update in the phone book listing for the vehicle. I've tried several times to re-sync and pair the phone to the vehicle and still the same issue. I'm able to make an receive calls but no contact information is being displayed. From all of the previous community issues reported it's not an AT&T issue, Hyundai issue, it's clearly pointing at the device (iPhone 5) being the issue.
Will there be a fix for this in the next update?
    Thank you.

Thanks for your response. However, after speaking with a level 2 Apple Advisor and Hyundai there is an issue that both companies are aware of and are working towards a resolution. Here's a blurb from Hyundai that was sent to me after I spoke with Apple Advisor:
"We apologize for any inconvenience associated with the technical issues with devices connected via Bluetooth. Hyundai is aware of the iPhone losing its Bluetooth connection to the vehicle along with any function associated with it at the time. Hyundai has been able to reproduce the concern in our test vehicles and have sent all necessary information to Apple engineers. Hyundai received confirmation from Apple that they will work on debugging.
If your iPhone is 3G, 4, 4S, 5 and has one of the following iOS: 6.0, 6.1.0, 6.1.1, 6.1.2, 6.1.3, 6.1.4 or higher, you may be affected." - Hyundai Engineering

  • I'm using my iPad with iOS v 6.1.3- is there a security patch for the SSL/TLS vulnerability for this, or do I have to go to 7.0.6?

I'm using my iPad with iOS 6.1.3. Is there a security patch for this version, or do I have to update to iOS 7.0.6?

There is an update for iOS 6... v6.1.6. But it is only available to iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4th gen users. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6146?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
For iPad, the highest supported os for iOS 6 is v6.1.3. If you want to get the security patch, you'll have to go to iOS 7.0.6.
    Hope this answers your question.

  • Hi. Whenever I go through one of the menus in firefox, the links remain highlighted after my mouse passes over them. Is there a bug fix for this or is there something wrong with my computer? I am running windows 7 if that helps.

Hi. Whenever I go through one of the menus in firefox, the links remain highlighted after my mouse passes over them. Is there a bug fix for this or is there something wrong with my computer? I am running windows 7 if that helps. This problem started ever since I upgraded to version 5.

I have downloaded and used the iPod Reset Utility, alot that did. My current state is iTunes on my XP Home with SP3 sees the iPod. When I drag a song to the iPod, the Sync message appears for about 5 minutes, then the Apple symbol appears. But no song has been transferred to the iPod.
I tried to tap into the XP iTunes database from my iBook, but although it acted like it would add the XP library to the iBook library, it did not. I've got 19 Gs of songs on the XP. If I have to load each song from its original CD to get it on my iBook I'm going to start looking for some other app or device so that I can listen to my music.
It is a shame, in the old days, Apple techs use to look at what was going on, now it appears they don't, so they never know they have problems until Apple's profits fall.

  • Release notes for 2.16 states that there was a fix for alerts not being modal. We are using 3.0.6 and are experiencing the same issue; was there a regression to the modal fix. What version needs to be used to make sure that alert messages are modal?

Release notes for 2.16 states that there was a fix for alerts not being modal. We are using 3.0.6 and are experiencing the same issue; was there a regression to the modal fix. What version needs to be used to make sure that alert messages are modal?

We are trying to determine why alert boxes are not modal
    The fix states it's for Firefox 2.0 - 3.7a1pre
We are using 3.0.6 not the current version of 3.6.13.

Repeating 2.16 release notes since 2.16 was not made available for more than a couple of hours
Fixed bug whereby some alert boxes weren't properly parented/owned. This led to some alerts not being properly modal
with respect to the window/dialog that issued the alert.

Likely someone does but Apple has not stated if/wehn.

Then don't use the repair program unless you are actually having an issue.

I've never even seen such a thing in SL. That said, it's pretty difficult to understand this so called "bug" without some sort of reference. Do you have a screen shot you could post?

Try to rename the cert8.db file in the Firefox profile folder to cert8.db.old or delete the cert8.db file to remove intermediate certificates that Firefox has stored.
If that helped to solve the problem then you can remove the renamed cert8.db.old file.
Otherwise you can rename (or copy) the cert8.db.old file to cert8.db to restore the previous intermediate certificates.
Firefox will automatically store intermediate certificates when you visit websites that send such a certificate.
If that didn't help then remove or rename secmod.db (secmod.db.old) as well.
