Is there a selection?

Sometimes I have a selection not visible (either out of zoom area or is hidden) that I forgot and I start to work on the area not selected, only to realize after a while nothing is happening, especially when performing subtle changes.
Is there a window or some indicator that I can see at all times whether there is a current selection or not?
Perhaps photoshop could add some audio cue so that when something is happening, it would make some noise even if the visual change is subtle. This way it would be obvious when nothing is happening.

You could press the Q key for the hidden case.
If it's off screen, look at Selection> Save Selection – if its active (as opposed to greyed out), there's a selection somewhere.

After you install a new hard drive, you need to boot to another drive to initialize it to MAC OS Extended (journaled) format and create the partition(s) on the drive. You do this using Disk Utility. Otherwise, the mac operating install process doesn't see a formatted disk to install to.

The hand tool is not working in certain sections of my screen where there are selection buttons that would normal show the hand tool

E.g. on this submission page there is cliveeb Inbox Other Apps where logically you'd expect the handtool to materialise when hovering over these areas. Nothing happens which means I cannot select those "buttons/drop downs".

That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar or the Babylon extension that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links and buttons in that part of the screen not clickable.

Suddenly, when I print a Selection from an email, it prints out about 10 blank pages and somewhere in there, the selection I wanted.

I'm using Firefox 12 on Windows XP. Things worked fine until just this evening. Now when I choose Print/Selection in my email, it spits out multiple (like, maybe 10 or more) blank pages with just a header/footer on them. I've followed the instructions for reseting the Firefox printer setting AND Reseting all Firefox printer settings and it still does it. Everything prints fine in Internet Explorer. This printing issue is getting REALLY tedious. I don't want a complicated workaround, I just want to print a selection. NOW why isn't it working?

Thanks, Cor-el, but that question addressed a problem I had with FF11 (that was only fixed when FF12 came out). FF12 worked fine for printing selections from emails perfectly up until yesterday afternoon. Reboot didn't help, even after reboot when I preview what I want to print (thank goodness for that option, or I'd be going through a lot of paper) it's still showing the page of text I actually want to print, then 6-8 blank pages afterward. This is not happening with every email, I have noticed ths morning. It now happens with email sent from (or to, as a reply) a yahoo account in Sweden and email sent from (or in reply to) a gmail account in Canada. These previously printed fine. Other emails will print maybe one extra page. There seems to be no rhyme or reason why it would suddenly start doing this. Should I look at the source code? What would I be looking for?

Is there a selecting tool for doctoring specific portions of an image?

In Photoshop I can use a select tool to outline the specific area I want to work on in a photo. Is there a similar tool in Aperture? I'm away from my own computer, no manual, and my client's Aperture help doesn't seem to respond.

There are plug-ins that allows for editing part of the image. But Ap will create tiff file and plug-in editor will do its thing them saved back into Ap as a version. Or you can simply specify PS(CS/PSE) as an external editor and do what you want to do also.

i own a n95 and i use to live in the uk,i moved to toronto canada about 3 months ago and my 3g band is not the same here as it is there,i believe they run on the 850 band width,does anybody else have this trouble when they go on vacation,or just out of the country,maybe nakia should include this feature in there next firmware update

This is not the case. the -band refers to GSM networks, which are the 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 ranges depending on country and network. A Triband phone will be 1800 and 1900 plus one of the other two.
3G services operate on the 2100 frequency range.
If you have a 3G capable phone, regardless of manufacturer, you can have it set to select 3G services whenever possible and revert to GSM when not.
As a previous poster pointed out, it is also network-dependent, not all operators offer 3G services.

If there are one or more option elements associated with a select list the default behavior is for the first one to be selected. You can correct this by including a null option with a display text of something like -Select One-. This will force the user to make a decision and not defaulting to the first option(so long as you have a validation to make sure your select list is not null). Also depending if you are submitting the page and not clearing the cache the select list will maintain the last submitted value.

Is there a "Select all keyframes to the right" command?

Say in a 16 minute composition, you want to select keyframes from 5 minutes to 16 minutes and shift them earlier in the timeline. Keyframes from 0 to 5 minutes do not change. Can you select multiple keyframes to the right of 5 minutes like this? Perhaps a similar command like in Final Cut pro where you're able to select all clips to the right of your playhead.

Don't believe you can select all keyframes forward.
I take it the trick to select groups of keyframes - marquee-dragging - in the Keyframe Editor won't work for you here? Holding down Shift should constrain you to moving backwards and forwards in the timeline (and not, accidently, altering your actual values), in case that helps any...

Just updated to 11.1.3.8 and Airplay does not work. The icon is not there to select

I use a Gear4 series 1 wireless speaker to stream music to my lounge. I have just bought a Gear4 series 3 speaker to do the same to my dining room but after upgrading Itunes the Airplay logo has vanished so nothing works. The series 1 is still connected to my home network but my iphone, ipad and pc cant see it any more

Welcome to SDN. Ya your program takes lot of time to give the output becauase of more select endselects in a loop.
You are hitting as many times as the records in the ITAB.
Instead use "for all entries"   clause for fetching the complete data from a table atonce.
Example: your itab is there.
Select * from xyz
   into table itab2
   for all entries in itab
where field1 eq itab-field1
    and field2 eq itab-field2.
After fetching the data you can populate the final table by looping through ITAB and itab2.
This is best procedure to reduce the load on database.
Implement this in your program to improve performance.

Selecting only one row at a time

Hi experts,
i have following doubt regarding selecting rows from a db:
Is there any way of selecting only one row AT A TIME from a dabase just to collect the data in rows instead of in a unique document containing all the rows?
I would like you to ellaborate on this as i need to send only one row to the IE, and then other row, and so on... without throwing any error!
I have seen that there are SELECT SINGLE and SELECT UP TO 1 ROW, but these two methods are only useful when retrieving only one row, and that does not match my requirements. I need to process all the rows but one by one..
I know that we can use the receiver jdbc adapter as if it was a sender by means of its specific datatype, but how to do it row by row??

Yes, my table has 5 not null fields but i am selecting and updating fixes values so i think that I will definetely go for the next solution:
SELECT * FROM t1 WHERE status='0' and ROWNUM<2;
UPDATE t1 SET status='1' WHERE status='0' and ROWNUM<2;
My only concern is if the update will take the same row that the select.... BTW, I think it will
..What do you guys think?
I ve been trying to operate with your proposed queries but i received some errors. Your queries are very interesting but i think that with the above ones i meet my requirements as the status field will be 0 for not processed rows and 1 for precessed ones (and the update will look for the row that meets the same 'where' clause than the select, and then, and only then, it will set status='1').
The only thing i have to care about is what i questioned before.

Dynamic creation of date in selection variant

Hi All,
I have a Z program for updating a field in BOM item. One of the input field in the report is "Valid From Date". Actually the current date is automatically fetched through a function module and it is defaulted in that field.
Our client is using selection variant for ease of use. The problem here is old date in the selection variant is replacing the current date. I want current date to be created automatically during insertion of variant also. How can i solve this problem. Is there any selection variable inside the variant for dynamic creation of Date?

As I know there is no setting for this. For any std or Z report variant function with L should act same way...anyway you discuss with your ADABer.

        To use these variables, the corresponding selection field must have

The SELECTION OPTIONS button is only supported for date variables that
   fill select-options fields with single values.
i.e means we can do that with D also.

Hard time for selecting Startup Disk (partition) in Mac Classic II.

Dear coleagues, I'd like your help to understand and solve a tricky trouble. I'm sorry for the long text, but the issue is probably living in a small detail.
The issue regards a Mac Classic II with internal and external HDDs. Internal HDD has two partitions, a smaller with System 7.1 (first) and a larger with System 7.5.3 (second). This one is installed there since 5 years ago, working fine.
The (just installed) external HDD has 6 partitions (because of its size 9 Gb). It has been formated runing VCP in this Classic II itself and all partitions are initialized with HFS. It is intended to be a backup for my Classic II as well as my Mac Plus. I've started Installing System 7.5.3 in its third partition. Other partitions remain still empty.
Using only internal HDD I can already perceive that "Startup Disk" control panel is unable to change the boot partition attribute between partitions in the same drive. When I open "Startup Disk" it usualy both partitions of internal HDD are highlighted. I can select a Zip Drive, for instance, and it will boot from Zip. But, when I switch it back to HDD, doesn't bother wich partition I select, it will always boot with the same partition (usually 7.5.3). Then, If i open Startup Disk CP again, both partitions are again highlighted.
To switch between partitions in the same drive, I use Lido 7.5.6 PMount and there I select the boot partition. Then every time I select my HDD, that'll be the default boot partition.
My conclusion is that in Mac Classic II the Startup Disk CP is unable to set a partition within a drive, it selects the drive only. The boot will obey the drive's partition table flag. That's why I can do it whith Lido, writing directly at HDD's flags.
Now, attaching the external HDD, I can see all its partitions in Startup Disk CP and then I select one of them (the 3rd, with 7.5.3). Before rebooting, I close and open again the Startup Disk CP, then I can see all its 6 partitions highlighted. Just like I've been doing with the internal HDD, probably the solution to set a specific boot partition would be through Lido 7.5.6 PMount again. But Lido is unable to handle this drive. It appears gray in the drives list.
What does it sound to you? What would you recommend to test? Is there an alternative for Startup Disk CP?

In fact I can select a specific partition, but by closing and reopenning Startup Disk CP I realize that the selection has been attributed to the physical drive (all partitions highlighted).
I have tried Startup Disk CP in both System 7.1 and System 7.5.3. They do the same way.
Internal HDD has been formated, partitioned and initialized with Apple HD CS Setup.
This external HDD in a different way. Apple HD SC Setup hasn't been able to "see" it, probably because of its prior format system. Lido neither. That's why I went to VCP. Moreover, as it is too big for 68030, I had to format it attached to a Performa 6360. After formating, I've let VCP make set the partitions in HFS mode (partitions with 512, 1024 and 2032 Mb).
I've mounted VCP in Mini VMac to get some screenshots for you:
Bringing it back to Mac Classic II, it could be mounted with Lido, but System 7 has asked to initialize all partitions again. I've accepted, installed system 7 on it, and it didn't boot. Then I've repeated the partitioning and initializing procedures using Apple HD SC Setup (since now there's a Mac HDD with "small" logical drives). Nothing changed.
I'm following your tip about System Picker. I've downloaded the sit file and read about it. It seems to be able to overlay the problem. I'm gonna try it and report back here.
But I feel still uncomfortable not to be able to do things the regular way. As far as I know, the boot partition is an attribute of a drive partition in partition map, just like the "Active Partition" found in FAT systems. I should be able to write there as I can do with Lido in internal HDD.

Logical Database (PNPCE) , selection screen hide.

Hi Gurus,
i have couple of questions related to logical database pnpce.
1.Since i know logical database has there own selection screen , my requirement is i want to add my custom fields to the selection screen other than what is provided is it possible or not.
2. i want to hide the selection screen of the logical database, but i do want to create my own in which i will be declaring some select options of the standard logical database screen has, like pernr, organisation unit, etc, how do i communicate the entered data with the logical database if i dont use the logical database standard selection screen, hope i could able to explain my problem, please see into my problem and let me know thanks in advance,

LDB have standard selection screens, if at all you want to customize those standard selection screen you would have to define a report category for your program. You`ll have to configure in the spro settings for your corresponding report category.
If you would like to declare your own selection criteria, you can very well do it and these criteria are visible below the standard selection criteria. You can process these elements in your program and not in the LDB standard program. Use the normal selection screen events in your program for processing your selection criteria.
