Is there a separate window in a .pdf for adding a note or comment?

I'm sending some samples of my work to a potential client, and would like to provide some information as to what they're looking at.
Rather than including that info in a cover note, I'd like to put it in a text box on the same page/screen of the .pdf, similar to the Notes view in PowerPoint.
Is there a way to do this in Acrobat Pro? If not, I'd like to suggest it as a new feature for the next version.

Thanks, but I already tried the Comments tools and found them wanting. As far as I can tell, all of them would cover part of the document, which defeats the purpose. If there's a way to use Comments without doing this, please let me know.
What I'd really like is a separate text area that appears below or to the side of the page, can be open or shut as needed, and does not cover any part of the document itself, similar to PowerPoint's Notes view (one of the very few things to like about that program).
The closest thing to this that I find on Acrobat is the bookmark function, so I'll go with that for now.

I need to convert PageMaker 6.5 Plus files into PDF from a Windows XP operating system to a Windows 7 operating system. It tells me I need a postscript printer. I don't have a postscript printer and really don't want to print them. I just want to transfer the files from Windows XP to Windows 7. Help!!

No, it isn't telling you that you need a PostScript printer. It's telling you that you need a PostScript printer DRIVER, which is software, not a printer.
Use the Add Printer function to add an Apple LaserWriter IINTX. That's a PostScript printer. Then try again.
I don't quite understand the Windows 7 connection, though. What are you hoping to achieve by making a PDF. You WON'T be able to edit them, if that's the idea.

Separate panel or task list for mimized and not-minimized windows

I am using OpenBox and I am looking into how to have two task lists (or panels), one with minimized windows and second with non-minimized windows. xfce-panel can show only minimized windows, but cannot show only non-minimized windows.
Is there any panel/task list which can do this?

Is there a way to annotate a PDF by adding a text box any where on the screen rather than having to click on the text box Icon each time? It was like this before I downloaded Yosemite.

I use the Preview app to annotate my notes for class. It use to be where I could add text where ever I wanted on the screen just by double clicking. Now since I downloaded Yosemite I have to click on the text box icon at the top each time and it adds the text box in the middle and I have to move it to where I want it. This is very inconvenient for class. Any suggestions on how to get the old preview back or fix this problem?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Is there a keyboard shortcut to close all unselected windows (background windows). This is for pop ups not blocked by the safari block pop up preference. This would be different to [cmd q] as it would leave the selected window with her tabs active...

None that I know of - Option clicking a tab 'x' closes all others, but doesn't work for windows, here.
Between Ghostery & Adblock Safari extensions, you'd rarely see a pop-up at all.

Is there noe a windows 7 driver available for the HP 1012 laser printer

I got mine working on windows 7 with the 1015 driver. However it acts a little flaky at times. Mostly I miss two sided copying. Today I suddenly got a message in my action center tha a driver is available. Didn't trust link provided so went to HP page. Cute, they skipped windows 7 but did develop one for windows 8. So much for it is too old to be supported.
Can anyone confirm driver availability?

I afraid the printer is not compatible with Windows 7, the same by the way also applicable for Windows 8.

Windows XP3 Firefox works for one use, not another.

Using windows XP SP3 and latest Firefox. On normal user Fire fox suddenly will not load. Click on Icon and it seems to load but does not appear on desktop. Looking in Windows Task Manager it looks like ti is running. Never appears open on desktop
On user "Admin", it boots and works normally. BOTH Admin and other user are admin security levels.
I have downloaded and installed the latest update but no change.
Thunderbird works normally on all users. There are only two user names on this machine. My problem is with another machine. I have compared some settings from this one to the faulty on and found no noticable differences.

Window 8 TouchPad Driver for U300e is Not Working...

I have installed the Window 8 Drivers for Idea Pad U300e. After installed Touch Pad Driver, The Touch Pad is not working anymore. To use mouse, I have to plug in external mouse and have to uninstall the Touch Pad Driver. After removed it, It working fine again. It is working fine but why i want to upgrade the touch pad driver from lenovo is there got plum sensitivity and disabled the track pad using the function key. Any Expret suggestion on how can i do the driver to work fine??

I cannot believe that you are not able to install the LAN driver on this A100 Satellite!
However, the Sat A100-784 supports an Intel 82562GZ 10/100 Mbit (Ekron) Lan chip.
If you want you can download and install the Lan driver from the Intel page:

Is there a way to BULK COLLECT with FOR UPDATE and not lock ALL the rows?

Currently, we fetch a cursor on a few million rows using BULK COLLECT.
In a FORALL loop, we update the rows.
What is happening now, is that we run this procedure at the same time, and there is another session running a MERGE statement on the same table, and a DEADLOCK is created between them.
I'd like to add to the cursor the FOR UPDATE clause, but from what i've read,
it seems that this will cause ALL the rows in the cursor to become locked.
This is a problem, as the other session is running MERGE statements on the table every few seconds, and I don't want it to fail with ORA-0054 (resource busy).
What I would like to know is if there is a way, that only the rows in the
current bulk will be locked, and all the other rows will be free for updates.
To reproduce this problem:
1. Create test table:

Links created in Word, now in the pdf they won't open in a separate window

I created links in my Word documents, then converted this file to a pdf. Now when I open the pdf and click on a link it open in the same window and I am unable to get back to my original document. Is there a setting somewhere to make the links open in a separate window?

Pat, thanks for your reply. I finally had some time to look further into this problem and still trying to figure out. First to answer your questions:
what is your operating system & version? Windows 7 Professional
on what browser(s) does that happen? Google Chrome, Firefox, IE
does it happen for any PDF link, e.g. this? Yes, any link with a pdf extension
does it still hapen with the latest Reader version 10.1.4? Yes, just downloaded it last week and still the same.
Another thing I noticed is afer unsuccessfully trying to access the pdf link, the resulting blank page reads "Could not load Adobe Acrobat" (could not load plug-in).
I do have Adobe Creative Suite 3 installed, which of course provides for Adobe Acrobat; I'm not sure if there is a conflict there, but I might uninstall everything and then just try with Adobe Reader to see from there.
I hope some of this helps. I appreciate your efforts in trying to assist.

Simple but Urgent -- Iview when opened in a separate window

I made iview's property :
Launch in a New window : Display in a separate window .
So when the user logged in and clicked on that iview , It is opening in a separate window --
But width around 30% (that is not full width ), height ok .
So , Can any one tell me so that the iview must be opened in a separate window with 100% height and 100%width .

As you said you are launching in a new window. so in property editor of that iview just check with the properties Height,Width of external window and you can change the height type of the iview to full page insteat of fixed .and check the parameter of the window features . Hello,
This message is being output correctly as the AuC still has
values against it.
These values must be cleared before you can close the WBS element.
Please do a FUL settlement against the WBS element to clear
these values and then try to set the CLSD status again.
There are two ways to 'clean' the AuC, so that you can deactivate it
and close the wbs element:
1. Post a manual retirement of the AuC to clean it.
2. Create a new AuC and use it for all the differences in the final
settlement.

Is there a script to open an attachment within a PDF in a separate window?

I have a PDF with a button to open an attachment. I know that in my preferences I can set it always open in a separate window, but not all users know to do this. Is there a script to make this happen? I have a script to open links in a separate window, but not an attachment.

This can't be done with a script, but you can do it manually by going to
the link you created, editing the "Go to a page in another document" action
in it and then setting the "Open in" option to "New Window".
This can also be done with a stand-alone tool, but that is more
complicated, of course.
