Is there a setting to apply timestamps to my text messages for iPhone 5?

I just got the iPhone 5 yesterday and with my old phone (the Cosmos 2 from Verizon), I was able to see when each text was recieved.  I feel that this feature is very useful, but the iPhone 5 doesn't have a setting for me to see that.  I can only seen when "chunks" of back-and-forth texts were sent, i.e. another person would be texting me and we would be texting back and forth starting at 9 a.m. (and it would show this timestamp in the texting conversation) and only about 15 minutes later would it show another timestamp.  I would really like to get a timestamp for each text message.  Also note that I don't know much about the iPhone hardware or software, but I can work through it if the answer is explained well enough and pictures were provided (if need be).

What you're seeing is expected behavior and there is no way to change it.
The only way I've ever seen a time stamp for every message is when I archive my messages to my computer using PhoneView (Mac).

  • HT3529 Is there a way to create, store and use preset messages for use with "Messages"?

Is there a way to create, store and use preset messages for use with "Messages". I often have a recurrinig message to send, after a repeating event, and need to enter the same short message each time. It would be nice to have this short message stored and selectable so that I do not need to enter each time.

found an answer that seems to work:

  • HT3529 Is there a free option to printing out multiple text messages from one person?

is there a free option to printing out multiple text messages from on person?

Printing from the iPhone either requires an AirPrint compatible printer, or an app from the App Store. You would have to search to see if they are free or cost. Also, the printing of text messages would either require you to make a screen shot of the message and to print that as a photo, or you would need a 3rd party software on the computer to copy the entire message to the computer and print from there. There is no native print capability for entire message threads.

  • Is there any way i can recieve my sons text messages on my phone

i have a 14 year old son is there any way i can recieve the same text messages on my phone as he gets

I see no reason to think this would not be legal.
Your son is not old enough to enter into a cell phone agreement with Verizon, so I assume YOU are the account owner. There is no law keeping you from putting an app on YOUR phone to track the texting history from YOUR phone. Whether or not he will be able to notice this app running in the background and disabling it is another matter entirely.
If you are unable to find/use an app for such a task, then what mdram4x4's suggestion is the only way. Of course, if your son only has a basic phone, the chance for an app which would do this is not very likely.

  • How can I set up iMessage to ensure the text messages people are sending me arrive both on my computer AND on my iPhone as well?

How can I set up iMessage to ensure the text messages people are sending me arrive both on my computer AND on my iPhone as well?

Use the same ID in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive on both devices and have people use that ID. Your iPhone number would be a good choice.

  • How do I set up my ipad to receive text messages?  I cannot locate my iPhone number to select it.

I am unable to set up my ipad to receive text messages from my phone. My phone number does not show up in the settings/iMessage section. Only my email.

Have a look at this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5538
NOTE: You will still only be able to receive iMessages on the iPad. It does not do SMS at all unless yougo to a third party app.

  • Is there a way to program mail to regularly search messages for specific terms?

For example, I regularly receive forwarded emails with new grant opportunities, most of which are not applicable to me. I don't regularly take the time to scan through these long emails to see if any of the grants apply to me and I feel like I might be missing good grants. Can I set up a way to search these emails for terms that would apply to me? Is there a 3rd party application for that? I suppose I could set up a smart mailbox so that emails fitting certain criteria end up there. I'm not sure how best to do that.
These emails come from a couple of people. They always have the same subject line. I would like to be able to set up a situation where when a new email comes in with the subject line "funding opportunities" that there is an auto search for terms within that email and it is flagged somehow or move to a folder that shows me that this email is important. Anyone have an elegent solution?

Make a rule. In the rule criteria include Message Content - contains - (search term).

  • Is there a way to block someone from sending Text Messages ONLY?

I would like to block a family member from sending text messages but I do not want to restrict calling abilities in case of an emergency.
I have gone to My Verizon>>Safeguards but this option only seems to allow you to block on an "All or Nothing" basis.
Is there a way to prevent someone from sending you text messages while still allowing phone calls?

Thanks for your response. I have an I Phone (I Messages) but the party that I want to block does not have an I Phone.

  • When using the "Fill & Sign PDF" feature, is there a way to stretch to size the text box, for a specific area on the page...instead of it going on in one straight long line...?

When using the "Fill & Sign PDF" feature, is there a way to stretch to size the text box on a specific area of the page...instead of the text box going on in one straight long line....? I'm not seeing there's an option or ability to do so, just wanting to confirm.

Improving the handling of multiple line text fields is in our plans, but for now, you will have to add manual carriage returns (Enter).
    Thanks,

  • Is there a way to add your signature to text messages without typing it in with each one on the Iphone 4S?

Is there a way to add your signature to your texts on the Iphone 4S, without typing it in on each text?  Heard this was a mistake on the Iphone 4S--hope i is fixed by now....

Just discovered how to do it:  Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars, scroll down to Signature:  and where it says "from my Iphone on messages - delete it and add your name, and/or phone no--whatever you like...doesn't take up much space...This is apparently the "fix" the Iphone 4S did....
It did not originally come out with that on it...now it is there - must have come in an update..
    Thanks for all your help!

  • Is there any way I can download my received text messages to my computer

I have a BB 8830 World Edition.  Is they any way I can download my received text messages to my computer.  If so, how?  Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

To backup/store your messages use Blackberry Desktop Manager software.
Connect your device to the PC.
    Run the  Blackberry Desktop Manager
Select "Backup and Restore" icon on the application window
Click on "Advanced" button and select the information that has to be stored.
When backup completes - there is a *.ipd file on your computer created. It contains all necessary information.
Later you can write information from this file to the blackberry device with the same mechanism.
For now there is no such a standard application to read stored messages on PC Computer.
Try to find third-party applications for that purpose.

  • Is there any way to restore deleted text messages on iPhone 5?

I accidentally deleted a string of text messages on my iphone 5 yesterday and was wondering if there is anyway to get them back.  I have the icloud back up on but have not used the backup through itunes.  Please let me know if any of you know if there is a way to get them back!
    Thank you!

if you are certain that you have those text message in the icloud backup, then do this.
Go to settings - general - reset - erase all contents and settings - this will wipe your phone clean, then when it boots back up, you'll have the option to restore from your icloud backup.  Your phone will restore to that backup, anything current you have will be erased.
