Is there a Shortcut key to move a window with the cursor?

After Yosemite it seems that the area at the top of windows shrunk and I have to look for a vacant spot to grab the window and move it around the desktop. Is there a short cut key that you can enter and move a window using the cursor from wherever the cursor is on a window?

Sorry, no. Only way to move the window is to place the cursor between the address box and icons on the left or right of the address box and grab.

Hi just made the switch from FCP 7. Is there a shortcut key to move the playhead to an inpoint on the timeline? In FCP it is the right arrow.
Tiny little problem but makes all the difference in terms of speeding up the edit.

Am trying to use isql*plus to execute queries. I find it little difficult to click the execute option in the page frequently, is there a shortcut key combination to execute the queries like in ms sql server 2005 F5?

Using the InDesign CS-5 Find/Change feature, I am always using the Change/Find button.

Since I use it so often, it would be good if it could be one of the "F" keys: F1, F2 or whatever.
I looked under "Edit --> Keyboard Shortcuts" ... but I could not find the option Change/Find there. Did I miss it ?

I have opened up the Keyboard Shortcuts Menu,
Product Area: Text and Tables
In the Commands window I have selected:

Now at this point, suppose I want to make the shortcut to activate this, the F4 key.
I click to put the cursor into the cursor into the box that says, New Shortcut
and then if I press "F4", it seems to be already taken by the Snow Leopard OS ... on my screen appears the Weather, calculator, calendar and clock.
So I cannot assign the key and create the shortcut.
Am I close to the goal here, or am I on the wrong track ?

The normal way to zoom in and out would be to use the thumbnail slider. I am not aware of any keyboard shortcut for this.

Interestingly, in Final Cut Pro, there is a keyboard shortcut for zooming the timeline. For example, Shift-Z will scale the project to fit the timeline, and command+ and command- will zoom.

I had this same problem and the F6 function key did not work. I also could not manually disable the touchpad via Device Manager. I reinstalled the touchpad driver and am now able to use F6 to disable, though I still cannot via Device Manager. I installed the Synaptics PS/2 driver for Lenovo V570c onto my V570 and it works.

Got the "apple firewire ntsc" choice to show up even if grayed out and "missing" under "audio/visual" menus by recreating choices in Easy Setup under "final cut pro" MENU thank GOODNESS because I was reading horror stories on here about this under another thread with someone trashing preferences, reinstalling and the works and still not getting it to show up...on my search now for an analog/digital converter up at b&h...find it odd that the s video connector wouldn't show the crt monitor when I put both displays through the 3870...I switched it back to see if it worked again when only the one dell monitor display was there and there it is again mirroring the screen display on my desktop...just can't be seen as an "external monitor" in fcp...couldn't find anything specific in the shane ross threads to this. I'm sad the program doesn't just see the s video connection though the 3870 though my computer does fine and will query up at b&h in regard to what might be affordable as far as a digital/analog converter. It's also weird in itself that when I put the two dell monitors on the one card my computer no longer could see the s video crt connection...makes no sense. Will report in later as to what I discover up at b&h as I'm sure there's a world of people out there using this sony crt monitor still even into the upgrades with computers and software so I imagine therein lies the solution. Troubleshooting a start up script can be difficult. There are some third party programs that also keep logs of start up programs, however for Firefox this may be different.

In the control panel there is also Administrative tools to view event logs, but this may be something a local technician can walk you through.

I use FCP X with Lion and, after clicking the little icon with the four dots in the lower left corner of the viewer window, I can move my titles and text. I noticed, however, that I cannot click and drag from just anywhere on the viewer screen, but I have to click in the smaller rectangle surrounding the text. Just to make sure I don't miss it, I usually just click on a letter in the text and drag the text block to where I want it. That's probably just a habit from programs I have used in the past that require that. I think you guys got it right ... just need to get close to the text for it to work. Of course, it goes without saying you also need to select the text clip first.

Before Mavericks, I was able to go from the Finder to the top menu "Go" -> "Utilities", or Applications or Home… and a new window would open.

First, as others have already stated.....make sure the checkbox is deselected for "open folders in tabs instead of windows" in Finder Preferences.
If you're like me and don't like tabs very much, there is a way to make folders always open in windows with a simple click (I'm using Mavericks 10.9.5). Go to a root folder (for example, the Documents Folder), open it, and select View > Hide Toolbar, then all folders within that root folder will open in a new window.
As an alternative method, any folder can be opened in a new window by holding down either Command Key while clicking the folder. But sooner or later you will forget to hold down that key, and then clicking on a folder will open in a tab (which will automatically resize the window and cause much aggravation).
The Hide Toolbar trick will also work with any folder present on the Desktop. It will make all folders inside that folder open in new windows.
To make the Applications Folder open in a new window when opening it from the menu bar at the top of the screen, you will have to open the main hard drive folder and use the Hide Toolbar trick. This will cause all folders inside it to open in new windows.

This just started in last week after 6 months of use. The right shift key and other keys on the keyboard all appear to work correctly.
Suggestions greatly appreciated.

I have a solution to this issue now after a discussion with Apple Support. Some where in the last few weeks, there was a change in the key that would do a Show Desktop under the Mission Control settings in the System Preferences. Even though the key sequence that was shown for the Show Desktop setting did not include the Left SHift key, by changing this first to having no key sequence and applying that and then changing it back to the F11 key, the Left SHift key issue that I was having has cleared up.
A second issue that was uncovered was that the SSD had some issues (uncovered when I ran Disk Utility using the Repair Disk key). I had to restart and use the Disk Utility through the Command R sequence to get to the stand alone Disk Utility. The SSD appears to be running better as a result as well.
Hope that this is of use to someone else in the future.

I guess I'm not explaining myself fully. I have a home page designation in firefox preferences that starts firefox up with 5 sites. that pretty fills up my screen with tabs.
At some point I want to initiate another WINDOW in firefox (NOT a tab). I would like to be able to open up a window that ONLY has ONE tab, or as if there were only one site designated as the home page. This gives me a workspace that has my most useful sites available in tabs in one window, and also another WINDOW that I can move around in and even create more tabs without messing up my primary set of TABS (in my primary window). I see how this might not be doable without doing what I do now, which is open up a new window, and then close tabs until the new window just has one tab for me to work from.
