Is there a place to download a version of Pages that will work with Snow Leopard? If so, where and how and will it read
Pages documents created in Lion?

You can buy a retail box of iWork '09 from third-parties such as Amazon.com or eBay to install on Snow Leopard or earlier. Just make sure you run Software Update to get the latest update for your OS before you run any of the applications. I believe that is iWork 9.0.4.
Otherwise there is no difference in the file format & you can open documents created with iWork '09 on any OS you have the apps installed.

Hello All. I recently updated my iMac to Mountain Lion and my iWork, specifally my Pages updated somewhat automatically. I din't thingk anything about. In the enterim I decided that my MacBook Pro (circa 2006) needed some cleaning and sprucing up so I did a clean install of Snow Leopard. When I copied Pages from my iMac into my laptop I discovered it doesn't run because I'm not running Mountain Lion. I know that I can't update my MacBook Pro to Mountain Lion as it is from 2006, but how do I get a prior version of Pages to install into my laptop? Remember I have already paid for iWorks while running Snow Lopard. Thanks for any and all recommendations.

Yes, look in Activity Monitor (Applications /Utilities /Activity Monitor.app) and see what it eating up all the %CPU. If anything is over 40%, post the name here to get advice or just kill it straight away with the red 'Quit' button.
If nothing is using up CPU resources, but the fans are going full blast, do an SMC reset. Read the instructions here:

Can I restore the Snow Leopard version of 'Preview' for use in Mountain Lion?

When running Snow Leopard I enjoyed using Preview with my HP C7280 All-in-One Scanner/Printer. I could place several items on the glass plate and Preview would then carry out a "preview scan". The superior edge detection software contained in Preview would recognise that there was more than one item on the scanner glass and put a marquee rectangle around each object (even separate images in a magazine page). I could de-select objects if I wanted to at this point to avoid scanning them, or I could opt to scan.
Preview would then scan all selected items in one go outputting a separate file for each one. No need to re-scan and select the next object. Preview would do the lot in one go! This was fantastic for saving time for me.
Preview really 'kicked the crap' out of my PC at work. The best the scanning software on the PC could was to auto-detect a single item.* So if I have a lot to do, I have to preview scan and then save/scan each item individually to achieve the same result.
All this changed when I updated from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. The scanning is nothing like as effective and time saving as before. Preview just scans the whole glass plate straight to a file irrespective of what is on it, no preview scan and no object edge detection whatsoever; not even a single object like on my old PC at work. Absolute rubbish!
I really want to restore the functionality I had before. So I wonder, is it best to revert my iMac to Snow Leopard, or can I achieve this another way? I don't necessarily want to abandon Mountain Lion - but I will if I have to.
Is it possible to restore the Snow Leopard version of Preview whilst keeping Mountain Lion? Or maybe download the Lion version from somewhere instead - assuming that the Lion version still has same functionality as the Snow Leopard version?
*Even this is better than what Preview does since I updated to Mountain Lion

It's either that or finding other software for your scanning needs. For example, Image Capture comes with OS X, VueScan 9.2.09, ExactScan Pro 2.24.
Alternatively, partition your hard drive and install Snow Leopard on another volume.
To resize the drive do the following:
1. Open Disk Utility and select the drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list.
2. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
3. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for each partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and move the bottom of the rectangle upwards until you have reduced the existing partition enough to create the desired new volume's size. The space below the resized partition will appear gray. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed. (Note: You can only make a partition smaller in order to create new free space.)
4. Click on the [+] button below the sizing window to add a new partition in the gray space you freed up. Give the new volume a name, if you wish, then click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
You should now have a new volume on the drive. Use the Snow Leopard installer DVD to install Snow Leopard on your new volume.
It would be wise to have a backup of your current system as resizing is not necessarily free of risk for data loss. Your drive must have sufficient contiguous free space for this process to work.

As some users may already have discovered, the latest update to Mac OS X Snow Leopard, version 10.6.5, breaks the previous release of the CeciMac Multilingual Braille package.
As a result, users of Braille in languages other than Apple American English should visit the English-language page on the CeciMac website to download the current beta version, which does install correctly.
This version also allows for Braille input from terminals with 8-dot keyboards, and in the Release Notes folder on the disc image, users will find notes explaining the discrepancies between previous versions and the new beta.
I should very much like to receive feedback on the various languages, so if you have any comments, I'd be grateful if you could complete the Feedback Request document, also on the disc image, and return it. Any suggested changes will be considered and, if appropriate, incorporated into the definitive version of this new release.

Reinstall your iLife apps from your iLife DVD or from the original installer discs that came with your computer. If you cannot do either then you can call Apple customer service to purchase a replacement set. Or you can simply re-purchase iLife's individual apps from the App Store.

You have to buy the DVD for 10.6. It's not available for download like 10.7.or 10.8. The 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD is in the Apple online store. You can get it for $19.99. Apple states that you can get it through the website iCloud.com
However, you can also use your mail account if you set it up manually.
Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.
Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.

Only if those disks are the ones which shipped with the computer. Retail packages never came with an Applications disk. If they are, install them onto a blank partition or drive.

You will be able to install OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and it will run, but you may not be happy with the performance overall.
OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and later OS X versions use more and more CPU, GPU and RAM resources.
OS X 10.6, by itself, will use between 2-4 GBs of RAM to run quickly, smoothly and efficiently.
Start running additonal applications and your iMac is going to struggle.
Just fair warning if you notice that your iMac is running slower after installing OS X 10.6.
