Is there a Soft Home Button or Software Home Button
Is there a soft home button or a means of getting back to the Home Screen or Main Menu by use of a soft key?
hmm I beg to differ. I am VERY pleased with the iPod it's engineering, and production. But the very fact that it incorporates two things, 1. A programmable touch screen, and, 2. OS X. This makes asking why? a more complex question.
Having a Hard key to return you to a known location in your code is a good idea. Being inches away from your finger to return home, true. But consider the user and the function they may be performing as they use the device. They could be in a menu, again music for example, and they are backing out from an artists album back to artists. If we were to gauge functionality on the distance your finger or thumb has to travel to return to Home, then a soft key would be more functional since you don't have to move any distance at all if you are already pressing the back arrow.
Also I agree, certain aspects of code can be difficult to maintain. Simplicity is important, but certain portions of code, or root functions, or for example error handler routines, may not ever change, and it is up to the developer to follow the rules of the road.

I downloaded a test version of Soundbooth to check it out. I'm not an audio pro, but have used some audio editing software. I find the Soundbooth UI a bit odd. For example, there is a "Louder" button. However, I can't find a "Softer" button or a way of reversing the "Louder" button. How do you do that?

First, thanks for the feedback.
Second, I highlighted a section of the waveform, there's a funny looking gray part that says "+0.0 dB". I can type a number in there or drag it back and forth to raise and lower the amplitude. It's similar to the "knob" at the bottom of the wave panel.
It seems to work well, but it's not intuitive and doesn't look like a traditional audio mixer (like in Premiere). Perhaps it will grow on me(or perhaps not).
A big problem is that the documentation is not very good. For example, I could not find a screen shot that provides a high-level overview of the UI.
Like most Adobe documentation, it contains mostly text for a very visually oriented application. And, I have to know where to go to get the information (which defeats the benefit of documentation).
Oh, well... I'll keep working with it.

I purchased Adobe Design Standard in June 1993 and have not downloaded it until now. when I click on the software on my account there is no download button. How can I download the software I purchased so long ago? I hope it is not money down the drain. Is there any phone number available so I can talk to an Adobe employee?
Which version of Design Standard are you asking about? I don't think any Creative Suite packages existed in 1993. I think the first CS came out in 2003.

when I sync my iphone it says that there is newer version of the software but when I click the 'update' button I am told that 'itunes' is the latest version? There seem to be a few apps that are not compatible with my phone and I am wondering if that is because it is not up to date or beacuse it is a 3gs?

I recommend no less than 2GB's of RAM. There is no download for SL, you must purchase from Apple, $29 at any Apple store. Leopard is no longer sold by Apple. About the only place you can find a retail disk is eBay, however the prices are getting ridiculous. -
I am trying to setup a home page on my Android mobile device. All changes require access through the menu. This works fine on my desktop computer but there is no menu button in the mobile version.

Ipad ios 4.2 update error - "there was a problem downloading the software..

Super excited to get 4.2.1 up and running. I had the buggy beta of 4.2 running on my iPad but now when I try to restore my iPad to get the most recent version of 4.2.1 running, I get this error:
"There was a problem downloading the software for the iPad. The requested resource was not found.
I've restarted iTunes and the computer and I'm still getting the same error. I've looked for the .ipsw file online but can't seem to find it anywhere. It's not an Apple's Support/Downloads section either.
Anyone know where to download the new update? I'm dying without Airplay, Airprint and so on not working here.

this should have been addressed by Apple I guess, but luckily we found out the solution in the company. Yesterday all our iPads (with 4.2 beta iOS for dev) stopped working, displayed the Connect to iTunes scrren and throw errors when trying to sync like 'The requested resource was not found' (when tried to Restore) and Error Code: 0xE800005D (when iTunes first just tried to reinstall apps).
Here is what we did to reanimate all four iPads in the company:
First you need to enter Recovery mode with the iPad, then recover the iOS software (probably the latest). Here is how to do it:
1) Fire up iTunes on your computer, and plug in the USB cable in the computer, but not in the iPad!
2) Do a hard reset, ie. press and hold down Sleep/Wake and Home buttons simultaneously, don't bother with the switch off prompt, just keep pushing the buttons.
3) When the screen goes blank, but before the Apple logo comes up, release the Sleep/Wake button and quickly plug in the USB into the iPad too. Keep pushing the Home button, until the Recovery mode dialog in iTunes comes up.
4) Act according to the prompts, and wait for the image to download and extract (can be 10-15 minutes depending on your internet connection, the image is some 550Mb).
That's it, you can safely restore your apps and other content to your recovered iPad.

Is there a manual eject button for the combo drive on the mini?
My angel of a 3 year old has managed to force two dvds into the combo drive, bless her, and so none of the software solutions to ejecting discs is much use to me, I'm afraid.
There's a soft, black button to the right of the disc slot, but I don't want to force anything until it's confirmed that it is indeed some kind of manual eject.
Otherwise, I guess it's back to base ...

There is no manual eject mechanism, however one may be able to manually remove a disk from the drive albeit with varied results.
If two are stuck this may cause mechanical as well as electronic malfunctions within the drive itself. While an external is an excellent idea I think it is important to undo whatever damage has been done.
If you are daring enough you can open up the mini and replace the optical drive yourself. If under warranty or AppleCare just let them do it, even if they try to hit you for a charge. A firm yet polite stand may get you somewhere, as it is very difficult to actually jam 2 disks into a slot-loading drive.

Can not update iTunes because I have iMac with 10.5.8 . How I will sync my iphone 6.0 with an older version of iTunes on my iMac???? There is no update for the software of my iMac and no update for the iTunes.... So how can I sync????
Requirements for iPhone 5:
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
iTunes 10.7 or later
The highest version of iTunes you can install is 10.6.3 which will not sync with the iPhone 5.

You buy an app from itunes on your computer?
If so, then sync it to your iphone.
Open itunes, connect iphone, select the apps you want under the apps tab and sync.

Sorry I don't fully understand your question but...
1. Turn off your caps lock - in a forum, it's the equivalent of yelling/screaming.
2. Turn your ringer up/down with the buttons on the side.
3. Put the phone on vibrate with the switch on the side.

Overlay Creator looks different and there's no preview button
When I'm working at home I have Lion OS and the overlay creator has more of a vertical layout and the preview button is prominently placed on the bottom of the palette. When I'm at work the OS is Snow Leopard and the overlay creator is more horizontal and there is no preview button (see screen shot)
When I first saw this I thought the difference was do to the OS but where's the preview. The preview under Interactive doesn't appear to work for overlays...That is very, very old version of the overlay creator from the prerelease program. Time to update your tools.

I followed the instructions, the account is authorized, I can see the tracks from my iMac on my MacBook, and I can play the songs, search the songs, etc...
But once the songs are selected, there is no "Import" button at the bottom right of iTunes.
What do I do from here, in order to transfer tracks from iMac to MacBook?Do you see "Home Sharing" on both your iMac and MacBook? Is Home Sharing all set up? Have you gone through each one of the ten steps in the "Home Sharing" section of the article you attched? Are you looking for the "Import" button on your MacBook?

hi my granddaughter has an assignment to print off tomorrow and her screen was blank when she turned the computer on. You can hear it is working but not see anything. Are there a combination of buttons she might have pressed that would change the screen to a projector? help please!!!
OK, if you technically can't help as it has been hacked/unlocked then let's talk about another iPhone I have that nothing as been modified since it was purchased from the carrier.
If I had a similar situation with this iPhone, could the camera problem be a software failure, and not just an hardware problem?

My Ipad shows following iCloud backup msg : " This iPad hasn't been backed up in 2 weeks. Backups happen when this iPad is plugged in, locked, and connected to Wi-Fi. " There is an OK button beneath the message but nothing happens when I press it. I have plugged in, locked it and its always in Wi-Fi region. Help !!!

Import photos to FCP Images stretch out
