Is there a special way to install iTunes on Windows 7 64-bit?

I have two identical laptops, HP Pavilion dv6, and I installed the latest version of iTunes on both of them and they both give me the same exact problem after installation. When I launch iTunes and perform any task i.e. go to Edit>Preferences, or select "Get info" on a particular song, iTunes freezes. I have to launch task manager and End Task in order to close the program. When I relaunch iTunes it seems to start working properly. Are there any files I can maybe delete and do you recommend I uninstall iTunes and block certain programs from running as I'm installing iTunes?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi
Hope you are fine there!
recommend that you attempt to resolve this issue by uninstalling iTunes and QuickTime, and then reinstalling the latest version of each. To do this, first ensure that you are logged in to an Administrator user account on your computer, then follow the instructions in the appropriate article:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7:

  • Can't install itunes on windows 64 bit system

I tried to install itunes on my 64 bit machine, but with verson 6.0.5, it says this software doesnt support 64 bit systems. I tried to install an earlier version i think its 6.0.4.2 not sure, but it does install on my computer. When I try to open the program and quicktime, I get error box saying the program had a problem and couldn't open. Is there anyway to fix this problem, and is there a way to have the newest version of itunes to work on windows 64 bit?
      Windows XP Pro

iTunes and QuickTime have never been supported on the 64-bit version of Windows (look here for the official statement). Some people have managed to get it working (at least tolerably), but from what I've read, a recent update from Microsoft has caused a lot of problems. You might try rolling back recent Windows updates and see if you can get things working again.

  • Error numbers are 2502 and 2503 for installing iTunes for Windows 64 bits. How to fix?

    Hey guys,
I cannot install iTunes (latest vision) on my new laptop (Windows 64 bits), and it says that the error numbers are 2502 and 2503...
Can someone tell me how to fix this?
    Thank you!

Check your system date & time is correct.
Run the System File Checker: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
If you still have problems try a creating a new user account with administrator rights, log into it, and attempt the install from there.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Is there any way to install iTunes on windows 7 without it changing all my desktop shortcuts to iTunes?

I just got a new iPhone 6 and I want to use iTunes to download songs and back my info up on iCloud, but every time I try to install iTunes it replaces all my shortcuts with iTunes! I had to entirely uninstall it last time to be able to use google chrome again. Is there any solution to this problem?

Should you find that all of your desktop shortcuts have turned into links to the iTunes application download and apply the lnk registry fix from www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html.

  • Is there a special way to install CC? I haven't been able to install anything.

I've been trying to install anything in the CC. First I started trying to install the CC application manager. It has an error early on but the sequence continues. Finally it displays that it failed to install. What am I doing wrong? I'm frustrated.

    Hi kimmessmer,
You can rename the OOBE folder and then install 'Adobe creative cloud' it should work.
    Location of OOBE folder
    In Windows
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE
    and
    C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
    In Mac
    Macintosh Hd --->Computer --->Library ----> Application support ---> Adobe ----> OOBE
Rename OOBE to OOBE.old, then open www.creative.adobe.com and login with your Adobe Id on which you have the subscription.
Under the tab 'Download Center' you will find an application 'Adobe Creative Cloud'
install that app in your machine and then you will be able to install all the creative cloud applications.
    Thanks
    Kapil

I'm sorry you are having problems with iTunes.
It is best to reach out to Apple http://bit.ly/OBKBjr to get additional information on that product.

  • Cannot install iTune for Windows

Hi, I just bought an iPod nano and I tried to install iTune for windows 64 bit but I always get an error message concerning a Boujour service that it seems I don't have the rights to start.
Here are some of the installation events
Windows Installer a installé le produit. Nom du produit : iTunes. Version du produit : 9.2.1.5. Langue du produit : 1033. Fabricant : Apple Inc.. Réussite de l’installation ou état d’erreur : 1602.

In my case, netlimiter was conflicting with the bonjour service. Probably identifying it as a threat. Uninstalling netlimiter solved my installation problem but now I need an alternative to netlimiter

  • HT4913 is there any special way to enter your apple ID when turning on itunes match?my apple ID has a . in it & it won't let me connect keeps telling me it's wrong

my apple ID has a . in it, when i try to enter my ID on ipod it keeps telling me it's incorrect is ther any special way i should be doing it?

Remember, any purchased item from the itunes store is forever associated with the Apple ID used to buy it.  So when you get prompted for an ID/password and it doesn't accept it, then you are using the wrong ID.
Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores, be sure it's logged into the ID you have set on the iphone (since that one seems to be connecting with the right ID).  If you've done this, then you might wait a bit to see if the "cannot connect to .. store" message has to do with internet connections.

  • Got new MBP 17" Battery - any special way to install/break-in this battery?

    Hello there all,
So, I kinda realised that I have the original MBP, and subsequently posted a battery query in the new MBP section....doh(!)
So, I mananged to get a brand new battery, (a1189) for my MBP.
It's right here, in it's box.
I wanted to know if there was a special way to install this battery, or do I just fit it in and let it charge and then perform a 'calibration'? Really want to keep this batteries life as long as possible!
    Any advice please?!
    Regards,
    Rik

Probably the best treatise on the care and feeding of Apple notebook batteries is this user-submitted tip:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1764220
Here is the Apple how-to on calibration:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490
    This article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3557
    includes these instructions:
To get the longest running time from an Apple portable computer with a removable battery—such as an iBook or non-unibody MacBook Pro lithium ion battery—you should calibrate the battery during the first week of ownership and repeat the process occasionally to keep the battery functioning at its fullest capacity.
The bold is mine. So yes, you should calibrate soon after you receive the new battery.

  • Trying to install iTunes on Windows 8.1.  Apple Application Support was not found.  Error 2.  Uniinstall iTunes and try again, does not work.  Is there a fix?

Trying to install iTunes on Windows 8.1.  Apple Application Support was not found.  Error 2.  Uniinstall iTunes and try again, does not work.  Is there a fix?

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Mountain Lion won't install on 10.7.4. Suggestion from Apple is to completely erase harddisk and install Leopard Snow Leopard Mountain Lion. Is there no other way to install Mountain Lion

Mountain Lion won't install on 10.7.4. Suggestion from Apple is to completely erase the harddisk and install Leopard > Snow Leopard > Mountain Lion.
Is there no other way to install Mountain Lion?

I tried and failed for several hours to install Mountain Lion, and was repeatedly getting the "Recovery System" cannot be created error.  I tried all the tricks: resizing the drive partition, booting from an external boot drive, all to no avail.  After reading other users struggling with the same issue, I had determined it to be a boot camp drive error.  However, I didn't want to have to erase and begin anew when I came upon a possible solution.  I had long ago renamed my boot camp drive with a "." (".windows" for me) in order to avoid having the partition show up on my desktop.  So, I boot into windows and renamed the c: drive without the "." ("windows"), and reboot into os x.  The install then went off without a hitch.  I hope this will be helpful for others struggling with this issue that may have renamed their boot camp drives in a similar manner.

I want to know wether there is the third way to install application onto iPhone device?
Sf so,anybody can tell me how to do ? or give me some suggestion?
    thanks!

The other ways would envolve jailbreaking the phone which cannot be discussed on these forums.
