Is there a spell check in Danish in iWorks 09 Pages?

I have used the T>more>language>Danish, but it doesn't underline in red when a word is misspelled.
Perhaps one needs to buy the Danish version of Pages, does anyone know if spell check really works in Danish?? thanks

HI aabenraa
Welcome to the forum.
There is no "Danish" version of iWork they are all the same.
Pages works by styling text as a particular language, so you need to have the text you want to be Danish selected when you choose Dansk in the Text inspector.
I just tested it with known Danish, and some German as well just to see, and it seems to flag the German as misspelt. It ignores English even in Danish text so it seems to always check English as English, assuming the text to be bilingual.
I tested it on the Danish words which passed spellchecking, by altering a vowel here or there and it correctly flags those as spelling errors with red underlining.
I am not Danish so can go no further, maybe fruhulda, can give better advice.

  • Is there a way to make the spell check work on the entire web page without making the content editable? Or at least those boxes that appear when you enable spell check on the entire page, can you make them disappear?

I found an addon that allows you to spell check on the webpage but it make the entire page editable and these boxes appear on everything i highlight. Can i get rid of the boxes?

I had thought this situation was solved but it just got worse. In addition to being without service for several days I am now being charged  a cancellation fee for a broadband service that BT disconnected in error. BT Vision was also terminated by BT but the set up charges are still in place. Does anyone know who the relevant Ombudsman is? I called BT from America on Friday - for an hour - while someone called Aruj sorted out why there is an order 'in progress' that I didn't initiate; why I have fees relating to a problem created by BT and why there are references to a house move that didn't take place and a BT Vision service I no longer have but didn't cancel myself. He assured me it would be rectified and my bill would be reduced by 139 pounds and we would get confirmation of this later that day. I asked him what chance there was that this would not actually happen - he said no chance at all; my new bill would be 23.50.
There was no text message. An online chat person today told me there had been a fee reduction request which had been declined and there was nothing else he could help me with as he dealt only with broadband. But he would get BT Vision to email me. They always seem so helpful.............
I'm sure I'm listed somewhere as 'a problem', there's no other explanation for why I get the runaround

  • Spell check function in my iworks pages does not work, how do I fix this?

I have a new IMac (intel) and I am struggling learning to use the ipage part of the iwork suite.  There does not appear to be a spell check feature working, since I'm trying to create some new documents, this is a real hassle.  And does anyone know how to do a cut and paste of images from the web.  I'm doing a presentation, have permission to use the photos and can't get it to work!!  sigh  I beginning to think I should have paid the xtra bucks and bought the window suite version, at least I know where they hid the bells and whistles in that one.
Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Greetings,
For questions on Pages post in the Pages forum: https://discussions.apple.com/community/iwork/pages
-- You can read about the various spell check features in Pages by typing in the word "spelling" in the Pages help menu.  This entry should get Spell check up and running for you: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Pages/4.0/en/sl150c96ab.html
If there is an image on a website you want to use locally on your computer usually just dragging the image from the web page anywhere on your desktop is enough to copy the image.  You can then drag the image from the desktop anywhere you want.
Alternatively you can right-click (or hold down the control key and regular click on the image) on the image and then choose "Copy Image.  You can then perform an Edit > Paste into a Pages document for example.
    Hope that helps.

  • Spell check option to skip master pages

I'm still running CS3 so perhaps this has already been solved for but I need a spell check option to ignore the master pages. I'm a magazine designer and our master pages contain placeholder text so we can work our layouts before we have final copy. Problem is we can never run an effective spell check because there is no option to ignore the master pages so a spell check tries to check the lorum ipsum text rendering it useless. It would be wildy helpful if in the search dropdown option you could select "no masters" or something of the sort. Similar to the option in the Find/Change search dropdown, where you can choose "story" instead of "document"; in fact, this same functionality in Find/Change would be great as well. Also, "Story" is a good option, the whole document minus the master pages would be even better. That way we could check all of the active text in the document, including folios, rubrics and captions that are divided from the story.
Let me know if I can explain this better.

    Peter,
I'm familiar with the workaround. Trouble is when you place or paste
your text in later, you have to remember to take it off of "no
language" or it will continue to ignore the text. We're dealing with
editors here, with very quick turnarounds, and the whole idea is not
to make a mistake. Just think how easy it would be to forget to turn
off "no language", run a spell check and think you're good to go to
press. ... and don't say InCopy has the solution, because its not a
useful product for us; it's cumbersome and doesn't serve us well at
all. I really think adding functionality that would allow you to
simply filter out the master pages in a spell check would be an
    excellent help.
Have you tried creating customized placeholder text, something like "Replace this placeholder text with real text and tag the replacement text with such-and-such paragraph style." instead of lorem ipsum? You do this by creating a text file named "placeholder.txt" that contains your customized text, and saving it in the main InDesign directory. When you perform Type > Fill With Placeholder Text, the customized text appears with instructions.
You can create object styles for the placeholder text frames that apply the no-language paragraph style. You can make the no-language paragraph style a color, bold, etc, to call even more attention to it.
A simpler option would be to assure that all the text in your customized placeholder.text file is spelled correctly, so it doesn't get a hit when spell checking.
Being able to omit Master pages from spell checks is a good idea. Would you want it to be a scope option in the spell checker, or a property of a master page? If it were a master page property, you could specify which master pages are skipped. You can enter a formal feature request at
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform.

  • Spell Check - Am I blind?

    I must be blind...
There has got to be some sort of spell checker in a forms design package!?!?!
Is there a spell checker in Designer 7.0? If not, is there some sort of plug in?
I deal with legal docs and it's quite a hassle to have to manually proof or use some sort of external spell checker.
    Thanks for your direction.
    Sean

I feel your pain. I work with brokerage and annuity forms and there isn't a spell check. (sorry)
We copy all of the XML from Designer to Word and spell check in Word. Unfortunately - it catches all the xml coding as well.
Once finished, we copy and paste everything back into the XML. (usually without a problem).
Heck - even this discussion board allows you to spell check.
It IS a hassle. Hopefully Adobe comes up with something quick.
Some tech genious would make a killing with a plug in tool. (anyone? anyone?)
