Is there a system wide audio manager?

I'm trying to find a system wide audio manager for my MacBook Pro that won't cause voice lag or delays. Any suggestions?

they say :
To remove Audio Hijack Pro, simply place it in the Trash. If you've installed any of the extra components, you may wish to uninstall them first using the Install Extras menu item in the Audio Hijack Pro menu.
extras seemingly being InstantOn.kext & Rogue Amoeba Schedule Helper.app although perhaps others.
Find any File makes finding leftovers a little easier.

*I know Audio Hijack can do this. But I'd rather not run a whole other application on top of the radio client just for EQ."* (original post from Feb 20, 2007 5:07 PM)
I can't believe that almost 2 years later, there is still no system wide equalizer in OS X, working always, like, while watching YouTube or whatever. Yes, I know there is Hear now, but both apps, Hear and Audio Hijack Pro, are expensive and overkill for the simple ability to change some equalizer settings. A preference pane would be much better.

I found a system wide EQ along with mixer and many other functions it works great its called Hear this is the web sight http://www.joesoft.com/products/hear.php

  • System-Wide Audio/Video Syncing

I'm aware of VLC's capability to sync the audio to the video in milliseconds. It's really useful.
However, I've run into an issue where there is a lengthy video online (Flash) that is out of sync. Are there any solutions to syncing the two system-wide (as I doubt there are any browser extensions to do this)?
Now, the tough part is, the video is ahead of the audio. Would this require caching the video for a few milliseconds to allow the audio to catch up?

Please can anyone, who has places a whole movie on their ipod let us know how u did it and how it worked, bcuz i tried converting another moview, and it was a little bttr than the first movie, but there is still a noticeable delay none the less. plz help..

  • System-wide color management

I work in a place where we get files from a variety of sources– anything from a MS Publisher file produced by a volunteer organization to InDesign files produced by professional graphic designers.
We've found that the same file can look totally different, depending on what program we print it from. For example, we got a PDF in that was created in InDesign. I placed in in InDesign so that I could combine it with another piece of art and printed it and the images looked flat and had a yellow cast. If I exported it as a PDF and opened it in Photoshop and printed it it was sharper and it lost the yellow cast.
I need to set up our system so that whatever the source of the file, out printer, (Konica-Minolta biz hub), will give us what the customer expects.
Of course, we have no control over the computers the jobs are being created on, and they're sure to be set up differently.
We also have different programs that we work out of. We can print straight from InDesign, we might save an InDesign file as a PDF so that we can bring it into a program called Printshop Mail and add addressing and other personalization. Printshop Mail likes RGB images better than CMYK.
Of course, we also work in Illustrator.
Is there a book on how to set up and color manage a system with hardware and software from a variety of vendors?

if you want to to do any faithful Conversion(s) to monitor space(s), target space(s), or print space(s) — you will FIRST need to use embedded profiles or Assign the correct profiles (if the profiles are missing)
when you are handed a 'problem' file, open it, and determine if you are using the embedded profile, or unknowingly Applying your own default working profile, or manually Assigning the wrong profile...ultimately you need to use (ie, Apply, Assign) the correct source profile to your file (that becomes a guessing game if the profile wasn't embedded or noted for you)
until this is understood from every possible angle, you won't get good consistent monitor or printed proofs (unless the file happens to be in your default working space or it has already been converted to your proofing space)

  • Adding system wide audio filters?

I want to add a normalization filter to alsa, so any application sound is normalized (web videos, mplayer, and so on)
    Is it possible?

Not on-the-fly. I suppose you could always analyze the file before playing it. I'm pretty sure someone out there would have written (for example) an mpd plugin which runs over a file first, analyzing its peaks (or preferably the mean-square volume or something) and then applied per-file normalization.
It would mean quite a bit of processing for every single song though. Hence better to have metadata. Alternatively you could generate such metadata for every song on your playlist prior to that.
OR like the rest of us you could just bind some easily accessible keyboard shortcut to volup/voldown

  • IPhone system wide audio volume issues after iOS 5 update...

I have an iPhone 4 (CDMA) that I updated to iOS 5 on launch day. I didn't notice it at first, and maybe it's just my imagination, but the volume of everything on the phone seems to have gotten a bit lower. Not only music, but also all ringtones, SMS tones... everything. I checked to make sure all the volume sliders are up; they are. I also made sure volume and accessibility settings are set appropriately; they are as well. I'm stumped on this and unfortunately I don't have another iPhone running iOS 4 to test this with. I have searched the forums here and on Google to no avail; it seems that either people haven't begun posting about this yet, or it's not a problem with most users. Is anyone else noticing this and if so, is there a workaround?

    Hey there,
Thanks for the tip. I tried it, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. I noticed a glitch a few days ago - when I unlocked my phone and went to listen to some music (through an ihome), there was barely any sound. I touched the volume slider (which was already at max volume) and it shot back up to normal. I still think that ringtones/smstones are softer than iOS 4 though.

  • HT4314 Is there a system-wide issue with the Game Center.  I cannot get past the spinning dots/loading part, my game says I'm not signed in, and I am connected to the Internet.

I have been using the Game Center to track my wins for some time (months).  Suddenly, my game tells me I'm not signed in and I cannot get the Game Center to open.

I have two yahoo accounts and I know as they 'improved' their servers I had periodic outages. It'd work fine on my webmail on  my computer, webmail on the iPad, but not via the mail app. And it was stuff on their end. It may be a case of wait and see and you may need to eventually remove/readd the account on your iPhone.
When the issue is on their end, unfortunately there's not much for users to do beyond wait it out or find work arounds.

  • Updated my K450e to Windows 10, Realtek Audio Manager icon missing from system tray

When my K450e was using Windows 8 and 8.1, there was a red Realtek AudioHD Manager icon in my system tray. Now that I've updated the K450e to Windows 10, there is no Realtek Audio Manager icon in my system tray (or control panel) anymore. I've tried installing the Realtek Audio software both from the Lenovo download site for Windows 10, and also from the Realtek site. This has not helped. On the up side, the computer's audio is working fine *smile*. Any ideas what I might try to get the Realtek AudioHD manager icon back in the system tray for Windows 10? Thanks!

Macaby there are two separate components of Boot Camp. First is Assistant which runs on the Mac side of things from OS X. It creates/deletes the Windows partition which is necessary to install Windows. Next the Boot Camp Panel software which is installed once you have successfully installed and are running Windows. It allows tweaking of the Apple hardware from within Windows. It is installed using the OS X disc and does not jeopardize your installed Windows OS in any way. This disc also contains the hardware driver necessary to optimize the hardware in Windows. In my experience this disc has never started via autorun so you will most likely have to locate the Boot Camp folder and run the setup.exe file manually.
Don't know how much your wife uses Windows but if it's running well enough then you may want to leave it alone. Check device manager in Windows for any red or yellow punctuation marks. This will indicate a potential driver issue in Windows. Also check the Windows Experience Index for performance issues. A 1 anywhere indicates a driver issue. If you have no driver issues and Windows is running well enough you may want to leave it at that.

  • System wide mini malfunctions

    I have a mac mini i5 (2.3 GHz mid 2012)
    OS X 10.8.3
I have multiple log in accounts (main, kids etc)
I upgraded to Mountain Lion a few months ago and just now realized there are system wide malfunctions going on.
Prior to upgrade, I backed up, wiped the drive clean, then installed Lion and a week later upgraded to Mountain Lion.
    Problems:
Loging into account C: I am greeted with a "Enter iCloud ID or create a new one" then another screen saying "Enjoy your computer."  I have entered the info at this prompt and am greeted by the same prompt the next time I log in. I have had an icloud account for months and this info is entered in the Pref Settings as well.  It is as if the computer is not remebering the info I am entering.
Login items that have been turned off, will be turned back on after login or reboot.
Account A- Finder - if I customize the side bar of the finder window, it will accept the changes for my current session, but if I log out or restart, the customization is reverted back to the default
Mail - opens two window upon launching, it will not remember my toolbar customization (similar to the finder side bar problem above)
will not remember changes to pref settings like "move junk mail to trash"
Account B Safari will not remember auto log in info.
    I've tried repairing disk permissions
I've gotten advice to delete various .plists and data states.
None of this has helped.  I feel like I'm working on a computer in the public library. Urrggh!

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Step 1 should give you usable permissions in your home folder. This step will restore special attributes set by OS X on some user folders to protect them from unintended deletion or renaming. You can skip this step if you don't consider that protection to be necessary, and if everything is working as expected after step 1.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • How To Hide In Stock/Out Of Stock System Wide?

    Hi,
We are selling items that are setup as Bills of Material. The problem is that they always show as Not In Stock on the website. This is because the stock levels come from OITM (Items in B1) and for BoMs the matching item in B1 does not get a stock level.  Since the item stock level is the one used in Web Tools, I would simply like to hide any warnings about items being 'Not In Stock' because it's not an accurate statement.  I know the customer can still place an order but it might make someone change their mind about ordering an item if they 'think' it's not in stock.
Is there any system wide setting to hide all stock level indications and warnings about out of stock items?
    Thanks,
    David Wall

    Hello David,
This is possible, but it is a couple of steps:
    1) In windows explorer navigate to c:\inetpub\wwwroot\b1webtools\catalog\controls\ and open up partpriceblock.ascx with a text editor such as note pad. You want to modify the following lines by putting comment marks around them like this (HTML comment marks are <!---  code you want to hide --->)
         <!---    <asp:Label id="ltlInStock" CssClass="npbody" Runat="server" Visible="False" text="In Stock"></asp:Label>
         <asp:Label id="ltlNotInStock" CssClass="npbody" Runat="server" Visible="False" text="Not in Stock"></asp:Label>   --->
For the instock/out of stock and
    <!---   <asp:Label id="sysInventoryCount" CssClass="npbody" Visible="False" runat="server"></asp:Label>   --->
    To hide the inventory count.
    2) You will also need to modify the cart.aspx page which can be found in c:\intepub\wwwroot\b1webtools\commerce\ like this:
                    <!---   <asp:imagebutton runat="server" id="imgOutOfStock" imageurl="~/assets/common/icons/warning.gif"
                        visible="False" />
<asp:label id="lblOutOfStock" runat="server" text="Some items in your order are on back order"
                        visible="False" cssclass="npwarning"></asp:label>   --->
    3) And lastly the cartdetaillistblock.ascx control which can be found in the controls folder of the above stated directory. Modifying as shown below:
    <!---   <asp:ImageButton Runat="server" ID="imgOutOfStock" ImageUrl="~/assets/common/icons/warning.gif" Visible="False" />
                        <asp:Image Runat="server" ID="imgUnavailable" ImageUrl="~/assets/common/icons/availableno.gif"
                             Visible="False"></asp:Image>  --->
It should also be noted than an upgrade will overwrite these changes, but in the majority of situations you can reuse the modified ASPX/ASCX pages by overwriting the newer pages with the older modified pages.
    Hope this makes sense.
    Kind Regards,
    James

  • System wide gtkrc?

I don't want to have to change the theme for all 6 users...is there a system wide file I can change to change the Gtk theme?

I guess this is do the trick:
    - Install your theme on /usr/share/themes
    - Include the desired theme on /etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc with:
    include "/usr/share/themes/<desired theme>/gtk-2.0/gtkrc"
Ff the user sets a theme, it will override - so, the users configs must be clean for this to work.
Or you can use pessulus to lock Gnome resources - in case, all users to a default theme.

  • System wide Lock timeout

    Hi,
I'd like to set a system wide lock timeout to 10 secs, i est I want that if a transaction waits for a row more than 10 seconds, the Oracle forces a ROLLBACK!
Looking in the documentation I found the trigger:
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER resumable_default_timeout AFTER SUSPEND ON DATABASE BEGIN DBMS_RESUMABLE.SET_TIMEOUT(10); END;
... but it seems not to work.
Is there any system wide parameter, or another trigger, or I missed something with the above trigger (I shutdown any session to test)!
    thank you
    G.

    Steve,
your answer is complete, the problem I am facing is that:
1 - I should instruct my programmers of the usabily of this tecnique the SELECT ... FOR UPDATE WAIT n, so the timeout is faced from application perspective, and it isn't so bad, in fact every single query could be customized regarding the WAIT time!
The drawback is that if the programmer doesn't use this technique, the application waits for the eternity.
2 - A system wide lock timeout, in any case could force, in any case, a default behaviour, ...
3 - If you are doing a porting from a different RDBMS see DB2, that implements a db lock timeout, you should recode all the SQL, and the porting needs more review and testing of the application!
    Thank you
    very much
    G.

  • System-wide access to Firewire DV Audio in/out

I have a Sony DSR-45 DV/DVCAM Deck. Like any other MiniDV camcorder, it shows up in Final Cut and other DV-friendly applications.
Here's what I would love, though: for the audio channels to show up in the System "Sound" preference panel. It looks like it's a separate device, not a straight-forward "HAL" device (comes back as a different "sdev" in case that means anything to you), but I've got to think there's a way to inject it into there...
For example, the M-Audio 410 has an option to make all your ins/outs show up in the system audio pref pane.
Any thoughts? Hoping I don't have to learn how to write a system/kernal extension, but how great would it be to have system-wide access to your DV Camera/Deck's audio channels like it was a built-in device? Since it's always plugged in and has balanced outs, it would serve as a great audio interface...
    Thanks in advance!

The audio engine of osx is core audio.
The only way to do what you wish is to have a core audio driver for your Sony.
    cheers

  • Is there any way to create a system-wide variable?

    Hello IDM gurus.
Is there any way to create rarely changing system wide variables that can be loaded at system startup that will be available to all users? For example, at IDM system startup, the variables would be read from configuration or generic objects and live in memory for ALL users as opposed to each workflow/user having to read the same variables when the workflow is run.
    Any help would be appreciated.

That may very well be the answer I'm looking for. Is there a way for that to be available within the entire application instead of having to read it in each workflow?
