Is there a terminal out there for me?

I'm sure this has been discussed several times before, but I want to find the right terminal for me. So, this is not another "which xyz-app is best?" thread, but rather a question if I have overlooked something.
My candidates so far:
konsole
Terminal (xfce)
rxvt
mrxvt
urxvt
xterm
eterm
aterm
Dylan may be able to say, "You and me, we had it all", but I cant say the same: they all fall short on some account. I thought I had found a sweetheart in mrxvt, but alas...
My criteria are:
- speed: ideally I press f12 and the terminal is there. Konsole fails, Terminal is a little better, the rest are decent-to-good.
- tabs: It's great to have them. I can then have one instance open on all desktops, ready at hand whenever I need it. Nice and orderly. It may also affect speed, but not all the candidates perform equally well: Terminal takes just as long time to open a new tab as to open a new shell altogether. Mrxvt and Konsole win here: the new tabs are there immediately.
- fonts: this is important to me. I would love to be able to use proportional fonts in the console, but antialiased, truetype fonts is a minimum requirement. The *term consoles - can they use truetype fonts? This is where mrxvt fails, and capitally, I think: no unicode support (?), and the line drawings in mc don't work with tt fonts. I can start mc with an -a flag, but it's not ideal.
- configurability: they all have it, I suppose. After spending some hours looking into the X system for configuration, I can't say I dislike it, although I can't really say I like it either. A balance between accessibility (e.g. through menus) and wealth of options (through looooong lists of settings in ***rc files), is ideal.
So my judgement:
mrxvt: if it wasn't for the font issue...
Terminal: if it wasn't for the slowness, especially with new tabs...
Konsole: dito, especially at startup
xterm: ugly... if only I could find out how to use some nicer fonts... And no tabs. Same goes for the other *terms and the *xvts
Have I overlooked some must-have candidate which fulfills all my dreams? or some feature in some of the current candidates, which raises it to the top of my list?

This is becoming something of an ordeal.
First urxvt: I couldn't get a tabbar no matter what I did. In the end, I reinstalled perl (I had the version from testing, so I downgraded to current), and everything worked fine. YES! I could see an app with potential.
In the meantime, I had also had yakuake running, and I can't say for sure what went wrong, but some time while I was trying to remap the keyboard shortcuts to let yakuake have F12 and urxvt shift-F12, something must have gone wrong, because every time I now open urxvt, the window shrinks slowly to a tiny little square, just big enough to grab and resize. The changes stay, but it seems very unstable - the window borders seem to be uncertain if they really want to stay in place.
I've tried to make some application-specific settings for the size, but that has been its own can of worms: (1) the only application specific size setting that works, is "force", which is hardly what I want. (2) in general, if I go to "Application specific settings from the window menu, the field in the Window tab is filled with sth like "Application settings for <...>", but not in this case; that field is empty, and I'm warned that the settings i'm about to make, will apply to ALL windows, globally. If I do make some settings, with the correct info in the Window tab in place, this is not remembered the next time I open the app.
I've uninstalled yakuake (thinking that that may have been the problem, since the behaviour is vaguely similar to that of yakuake), but the problem persist.
Does anyone know where the problem lies? I have tried to check the settings in ~/.kde/share/config, but haven't found anything there.
In fluxbox, the shrinking problem does not happen, so it seems to be a KDE problem, but there's another one: the urxvt specific settings I have made in .Xresources do not apply. Phew. Perhaps I should just have stayed with the xfce Terminal...

Lion is Not compatible with PPC (Power PC) based software, such as your older version of PhotoShop. Your choices are you can either upgrade to the newer version of PhotoShop, or you can backup your data and apps, erase your harddrive and reinstall Snow Leopard.

I can see the the firefox button on the top left corner, when I go to it the drop down list drops and there is no text, if I move down the drop down I hit where there is a slide out in that drop down and no text is there. So, to start in safe mode you need to go to the firefox button, and click on start in safe mode. I can't See safe mode or click on anything were safe mode should be.

hello, close all firefox windows & hold the shift-key while opening firefox in order to launch it in safemode. in the first dialog just choose "continue in safemode" and go to firefox > options > advanced > general. in there disable hardware acceleration, restart firefox normally again and see if this has changed anything.

Is there a way to re-set the default fade-in/out setting for all slides?

Hi all, I don't know why all objects on all the slides of my captivate project are set as transition-> fade in/fade out. The result is that every single slide fades out after 3 seconds, even before the learners can finish reading.
The only solution I know is to change each single object from transition->fade in/fade out to No Transitions. However, it takes thousands of clicks.
Does anyone know that there is a one-step solution to get rid of this default fade in/fade out settings?
Or was there something that I did wrong which caused this default fade in/fade out?

Hi all, not only are my objects set to no transition, I set the object defaults to rest of slide rather than specific time (located in the same window above. That way slide duration does not matter (unless you are doing autoplay and not using navigation.) This way when my audio lengthens the timeline all my objects are there for the full duration
Also, another tip, once you have set your objects styles and preferences the way you like them you can export both, and import them into any new project that you wish to use them in rather than reset all the time.

FWIW, your profile shows that you are already on Lion - did you buy Mountain Lion?
If you purchase an OS from the Mac App Store, it will be listed under your Purchases and will be available to download again if you need it. Note: the license is only for you and is not transferable; if you sell your Mac, you must uninstall it and reinstall the original system.
If you did buy Lion - out of curiosity - since it is no longer showing in the app store, how did you buy it there? Or did you call Apple and they sent you a redemption code?

There is no reason to not port a number from another provider (unless leaving a contract early and being charged the ETF) for if one does decide to switch back to their previous provider within the first 30 days after making the switch, the previous provider will take one back with welcome arms and the same phone number can be used this way.
Your way required getting a new phone number which can't be changed or potted after the fact for single line account.

Just to make sure you understand, no possible software update will make a current iPhone into a 3G unit. That will require a new phone. You may already know that, but just making sure.

I once built an e-commerce site for a friend. He paid me $100
a month, plus
7% profit from the site for over two years to pay for it, so

$2,500 on it, just not all at once. Plus I had maintenance to

different styles. I dunno. I'd need a LOT of accounts to be
able to make
any decent money off prices being so low, but since none of
the sites would
be anything that big, any updates that are needed I could
take care of in
probably 10-15 minutes, at most. I'd just need some kind of
billing
software that allows me to add items and prices, then just
drag the item
into the user's account so their credit card is billed
automatically each
month for the right amount, or I could mail out paper bills
and run into
possibly dealing with bad checks.

The best solution I've come across so far is to dump all movies into a shareware app called iVI. It'll show whether each movie has subtitles or not.

It is now confirmed that iWeb, and iDVD, has been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
◼ Password protection
◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken. If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
It now appears that the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.
Personally, if I didn't already have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

Apple has always been there for us! Don't blame them alone!

I have had an Apple since 1979 and even owned a computer school using all Apples for 20 years. Apple was always there for us. Never had a problem with Apple products. I'd blame the hackers and competetion and the sick people who are out to destroy instead of building things.

I can read that Freida is passionate about Apple and so am I. It grieves me that I have to look elsewhere for my email platform, having supported Apple form the beginning. Apple support is second to none on paid for product and if they want iCloud to be the all singing, all dancing solution that they advertise, they need to support it with improved communication....

Subsequently most of my music and apps are missing from my iphone because it never finishes syncing. How do I fix this?

1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
