Is there a tweak to influence the scroll thumb release distance?

A long time ago I developed a habit of grabbing a scroll bar thumb and pushing the mouse off without too much care when I wanted to scroll all the way to the end.  At one time, as I recall the mouse would remain captive no matter how far off the scroll
thumb the pointer actually was.  This made this particular "gesture" valid.
Now (and for some time), pushing the mouse a ways off the end of the scroll bar causes the mouse to "lose its grip" on the scroll thumb, the scrolling operation to be aborted, and the scrolled window to return to its starting
point.  I've seen some info online that implies the distance is 100 pixels.
When a window has been scrolling in real time, then it "jumps back" to where it started right about at the time I release the mouse too far from the end, I find that very disruptive to my train of thought.  I find anything that "automatically
cancels" an operation I've initiated annoying; I believe anyone would.
My question is this:
Do you know of a setting that can be changed to increase the distance the window manager allows the cursor to move away from a scroll bar thumb with the left mouse button down before the thumb
is released?
Thanks in advance.

Hi  Noel,
I searched the control panel settings as well as the PC settings of the computer, it seems there is little settings we can do to change the distance, but I need a research to provide more possible suggestion, I will post it back as soon as I get some clue.

Nope, afraid not. The only third-party utility that you might look at is LionScrollBars 0.5.4. You can search for others at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.

Is there any way to get the scan bar (or whatever it's called) back onto the miniplayer??
I, personally, felt that was a very necessary part of the miniplayer and I'm kinda choked it's gone!

I don't have to do anything.  Here is an example where I just exported a template to epub using Pages 4.  (Are you using Pages 5?  I have not tried with that, as it is so crippled compared to Pages 4 in other ways that I only use it to test missing features....).

You can run the Apple Hardware Test / Apple Diagnostics:
may not be aware is that Apple dumped AHT this past June. New Macs, introduced in June 2013 or later, no longer include the software. Instead, they have an entirely new diagnostic application called, appropriately enough, Apple Diagnostics. You access Diagnostics exactly the same way as you do AHT: Hold down the D key at startup.

  • Is there a way to change the scroll bar?

I hate the new scroll bar in Lion. I barely notice it and it's thinner than the old one. I really hate the migration to "more like iOS". it doesn't meld well with the existing look.
On top of that it's a bit more work to click and drag on it since it's so much thinner.

If you want to report this issue to Apple's engineering, send a bug report or an enhancement request via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, register as an Apple Developer—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report or enhancement request. You'll get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering. Numbers count, so file away.

  • Is There No Backward Compatibility With The New CC Release?

    Hi,
I've been really keen to have a go with the (eagerly anticipated!) new incarnation of Edge but having downloaded it - with a view to assessing it using the 30 day trial - I've discovered that nothing can be saved in a format that's backward compatible with the free version (1.5.0.217.23270).
I frequently need to send partially completed projects off for finishing by other participants who, now, may or may not have opted for a paid version of the software; so the need for compatible files is a crucial one for me. Have I missed something, or is there a workaround?
    Hope you can help

Thanks for the feedback, and as a former agency veteran myself I understand the pain point.
One thing to keep in mind is while the 1.5 version is perpetual, we'll be adding a lot more valuable features in the future which most definitely won't be compatible with 1.5. There's still a lot of critical features we'll be introducing which are must-haves in any animation software.
I'm not sure of the level of collaboration you're looking at but a great thing about Animate is the files are editable outside of the application itself. So if you have a little bit of coding know-how you can change design properties, images, and text through edge.js and actions.js. So for example, if you have a CC project someone and you just need to swap an image, you can relink the image in edge.js. Major edits (like tweaking a motion path) can technically be done with code but it would be really, really painful and better left to the tool
If you're interested in upgrading to get all the CC apps, Animate comes bundled with that. There's special pricing for students too (hint: doesn't really matter what you're a student of... take a cooking course and you're good to go)
Also if you have a serial laying around for any CS3+ product you can exchange that to get a discounted rate for Animate ($9.99USD/month).
Best of luck, and thanks for using Animate.

  • How can we remove the scroll bars from the table?

    Hi,
I have a dynamic table. Currently the table appears with the scroll bars. But there is a requirement that the scroll bar should not appear and the table should stretch in the entire page. How can this be achieved.
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks Mohammad for the reply.
Was able to remove the scroll bars by using only the styleClass as AFStretchWidth. But there is a default partition in middle of the page still? Can i remove that too by any way.

  • PDF/X makes the scrolling speed of ClearScan PDFs much faster

    Hello all,
I am using 9 and X (trial) to find the best solution for reading scanned documents on Mac and iPad. I recently found that ClearScan OCR makes scanned black and white PDFs very light. Consequently, scrolling of PDFs on Mac and iPad becomes faster than regular bitmap PDFs.
However, there is a problem in ClearScan that bitmap image area become heavier than the original scanned files. I usually scan paper documents with a resolution of 600 dpi and downsample them to 600 dpi when OCRing. So theoretically, scrolling and pinch zoom in/out speed in Preview.app should be the same between the original documents and OCRed ones. You will be able to reproduce this problem if you OCR the following PDF. Try ClearScan + 600 dpi downsample + US English.
    http://articles.adsabs.harvard.edu/cgi-bin/nph-iarticle_query?db_key=AST&bibcode=1990ARA%2 6A..28..215D&letter=0&classic=YES&defaultprint=YES&whole_paper=YES&page=215&epage=215&send =Send+PDF&filetype=.pdf
But if I export OCRed document as PDF/X after saving it as a regular PDF, the bitmap area become very light and scrolling speed in Preview.app becomes very fast, while I get a preflight error when exporting to PDF/X. The file size of the exported document becomes about two times larger than the regular ClearScan PDF.
My question is; What is the main difference between regular PDFs and PDF/X? How can I get the same effect of the scrolling speed difference without exporting regular PDFs to PDF/X which is heavier? Any technique?

    Hello lrosenth,
Thank you for your comment. As you mentioned, I do not need to use PDF/X in fact because I do not send them to DTP companies.
Is there any tips to change the scrolling speed faster without using PDF/X? I do not know why the image part of regular PDFs after ClearScan is heavier than the originals.

  • Control the scrolling speed while browsing a PDF file from a URL in Safari

When I open a URL pointing to a PDF file from Safari, the PDF file is opened by the AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin.  Too many times the multi-page PDFs scroll too fast up and down uncontrollably from the touch Pad.
Is there a way to control the scrolling speed and make my reading experience better?

You need to remove both, while Safari is closed.
You can use the Trash - Put Back command to replace them right away (again, close Safari first) or drag them from the trash to some spare folder, in case you want them later.

  • Influence the RRI

    Hello together,
i've defined 2 queries in 2 different webtemplates.
In Webtemplate A the user can select a year and the
query A uses the year as a variable. THe Query shows
data for the selected year and the previous year.
Now i've defined a RRI from Query A to jump to Webtemplate B.
The Problem is, webtemplate has to be opend with the selected year. If the user uses the RRI on a chart-bar for the last year, webtemplate B is opened with last year.
Is there a chance, to influence the RRI to open Webtemplate B
with the selected year from Webtemplate A?
    Best regards,
    Lars

    Hi together,
i think I'm a little bit clother to a solution but now I've got no idea,
    how to proceed:
    I used the following command:
    SAPBWOpenWindow(SAP_BW_URL_Get() + "&CMD=RRI" + "&RRI_RECEIVER="Template_B","CustDetails",600,400);
But the Webtemplate is not opend, only a grey screen.
Hope one has a hint for me.

  • Influence the sequence of Roles in IllumLoginRoles

    Hi all,
is there a possibility to influence the sequence in which MII orders the roles which are assigned to a user?
For example, user A has roles IllumLoginRoles="'SAP_JAVA_NWADMIN_LOCAL','XMII Administrators','XMII Users', 'My new Role' ". How can I manage to get the role 'My new Role' to be the first role in the list?
This is important, because the Content Display Tabs on the MII Portal are displayed in the sequence of the roles in the IllumLoginRoles list. And the first Content Display Tab is loaded on login. So if I want the Content Tab of role 'My new Role' to be loaded when user A logs in, it must be the first role in the list.
I think it doesn't matter when the role was created, and surely the roles are not ordered by name.
    Michael

    Michael,
The order of your role names has no bearing on how it is showed in the Content Display Tabs or Navigation Items.  Under System Management -> Custom Attribute Mapping -> Roles Tab, there is an option for priority.  The lowest number has the highest priority so most likely XMII_Administrators would have a priority of '0' and XMII_Users would have one of '100'.
Content tabs are added, modified, and deleted in a similar manner to the navigation tree items. The tab item hierarchy is one dimensional. Tabs may be ordered within a user or role. Tabs are inherited from the user level first and then the role level. The order of inherited roles is determined by the role priority. The user's first tab, whether it be from the user or role level becomes the default home page in the main content area.  The target window radio buttons behave the same way as the navigation tree items.
When the attributes are read, roles are added lowest priority to highest priority.  Profile properties can be created at the role or the user level.  A user will inherit properties from the roles that they are a member of.  If more than one role has the same property name, the role with the highest priority will pass its property value to the user.  If the user has the same property name defined in their profile, the user value always takes precedence.
