Is there a Version history?

I've been using Aperture for a few days now and overall I like it but I have not been able to see where or how my edits are recorded and shown. I'm referring to a History similar to CS2 or like in Lightroom where theres a History showing all edits which I can selectively delete. Does Aperture have a "History?"

Wouldn't it be possible to achieve this functionality
by creating a new version from your adjusted version
and then turning off/on whichever adjustments you
wanted to change?
Good point! Aperture's versions are so much more complete than what LR offers that they offer the same functionality that you get in LR with history. Think of having a history where each step in the history chain is a visible thumbnail and image version that you can access.
Photoshop has a history palette option "Allow non linear history". Aperture's versions can duplicate this functionality--something that doesn't exist in LR. If you want to try out a complex series of edits and see how it would work do this:
1. Make a new project called history test.
2. Drag a master file there holding down the option key to duplicate the master
3. In Preferences select the "Create new versions when making adjustments" option.
4. Go to work
Note: this is not 'exactly' the same as LR history but it will give you an edit trail of changes to the image. In LR those steps have names, in AP they are not named but they are visible.
IN MY OPINION:
Moving your photos and setting up a new workflow in one or the other of these programs is a big commitment. Hopefully a very long term relationship. Choosing which of the two programs to use based on features like the History palette or a RAW adjustment that you like is a bit like going to a party with two pretty girls and deciding which one to marry based on who is wearing the nicest lip-stick. These details can change in a moment. Base your decision on more enduring traits and stick to your girl--err application even if her rival shows up in a new outfit.

Hi guys,
I'm looking for some data for a research study and hoping you might be able to help me please?
Basically all I need is a list of the major updates to the core Blackberry OS, along with release dates for each. What I'm looking for is the first release date for each core version, rather than the specific device versions, right from v1.0 to v7.
Any chance someone here might have this info, or be able to point me to where I could find it please?

Version history Smartform?

is there a version history for smartforms like for reports, fm´s .... ?
In transaction SMARTFORM i can not find it.

Hello,
Smartforms doesn't have the concept of version management. But you can see the last changed by, date & Time.
Also, if you want you can get the full transport history from the table E071 table. As a hint just pass the E071-Object as 'SSFO' & Object name as your smartform name.
I also recomment you to make a copy of the smartform always before doing any major changes so that in the later stage if any issues happened, you can use this copied version.

SharePoint 2010 : How to display ALL Version History of a list item's multiline text box in a same list as a list view column?

In SharePoint 2010 , I have version history enabled multiple text box 'issue details'. Users mainly uses Data Sheet view and it does not show all version history of that multiple line text box, is there anyway we can display list view column in

How to get the Version History of a stored document?

I am trying to store and retrieve the content using Content Services features of ADEP 10.0.
I am able to store and retrieve content where as I am not able to get the version of the document. I am trying to store same or different document, but I donot get the version history or version label. Please guide me how I can get the version of a stored document.
Also, please advise me if there are simple alternative to do the same in ADEP10.

Sharepoint 2013 Document library view show version history

Hello everyone,
I have a document library view with many folders. Each folder is a procedure and have document attached to it.
When I add a new version, I would like to show version history for each document contained in the folder. For example:
There is a folder Procedure 123 which has three files ( File1, File2, and File3). After a week the user the user created new revisions for each document.
I would like to have a document view with the following information
File Name   version

File 01         0
File 02         0
File 03         0
File 01         1
File 02         1
File 03         1
File 01         2

This is quite simple, you have to modify the current view (Modify this view) of document library and then you can select version column from available column list (make sure version is enabled). please check below picture for detail.

Unable to view version history if document status is in progress

Designer 6i + 9i: Java tools (Version History etc) do not work in 9i

I have installed both Designer 6i (4.2) and 9i in different homes.
6i works fine, but in the 9i installation the java tools, such as Version History Viewer etc. do not work. The java classes cannot be found.
Any suggestions?

6i R4.2 and 9i seem to work against the same repository version, so I can use 6i for the missing parts. Will this be working still after future patches of 9i?
I need the combined 6i/9i installation because my laptop is used both for (6i) training and 9i development.

1) This is most probably caused by your java class path being longer than
999 characters. We are aware of this problem and it is recorded as a bug.
Simply reduce the length of your class path to less than 999 characters
and the Java tools should start OK. The offending Registry variable you
are looking for is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\HOME0\REPADM61\DEFAULT_JVM_PARAMS_THIN_JDBC
JVM_CLASSPATH_DEFAULT_THIN_JDBC
There is an also one or two issues with the JDBC thin drivers used and
the 'increased sensitivity' of the 9i database tnsnames.ora file content
and structure. The Release Notes for Designer 6i Release 4.3/9i Designer
9.0.2.1.0 should more details on this and available workarounds.
I suggest you look at these and implement the tnsnames.ora workaround at
least, in order to protect against future connection problems. By the way
- 8.1.7 works fine with respect to these connection issues.

Does "Version History" Work AT All in CQ5.5 DAM????

How do I retain version history of an asset in the DAM AFTER I "replace" that asset with a file of the exact same name and location? In 5.5 replacing a PDF wipes out all version history on that PDF making asset version completely useless. What I'm talking about is a basic function of any WCM. A marketing department may update their PDF file 50 times a year. Those are called different "Versions". They update the PDF outside of the DAM and upload "replace" the old version with a new version. Unfortunately all old versions are wiped out and lost when a replace is done. This leaves me wondering what does Version mean to DAM seems to mean nothing. Documentation claims I'm doing it the right way but it does not work at all, despite what the Day docs claim. Any help? Thanks for this information. The procedure you describe does work, sort of. However there are still some signficant issues around this topic of versioning assests. Here are the problems I see.

The process you described, does not allow any opportunity to enter comments into a version that was created through the upload of a new rendition.
Adding to the problem of no comments, the little icon image next to the version number of each version in the Versions tab shows the wrong picture of what the version actuall is.
In what scenario would anyone upload an asset to "replace" an asset of the same name that is already versioned. It seems never since it will wipe out all meta data about that asset, references, versions, comments, etc.
Can you or someone from Adobe help me understand how to overcome these above issues? Is this a known bug in 5.5 that will be fixed or this this just really bizarre and klunky behavior around asset versionint that we have to suffer through? Products like TeamSite from Autonomy do this so well and so easily and so intuitively that by comparison this is a real embarressment for Adobe. I asked specifically about this feature when selecting this product and was assured it was able to version assets, not just maintain different renditions.

Workflow Versions in Version History

Does anyone know how to not show workflow updates in the version history. I only want history to show actual user edits not what a workflow changes.

You need to use
SPListItem.UpdateOverwriteVersion()
in the workflow if it is being created in Visual Studio. However, please note that there is no way of doing this from SharePoint Designer.

Version History for Functions Missing in Docs

Am I the only one that doesn't like the documentation for CF9&10. We just moved from CF8 to 10 and I have to say, I liked the docs website for 8 a lot better. What I miss:
full tree list always present on left side - makes nav b/t functions easier as well as function discovery. The new docs site makes you go back to the functions page and then know the first letter to drill down. This is fine if i know the function, but I sometimes am searching for "that one that does that thing ... " I have to nav in an out of each sub menu... grrr!
version history for functions - where is 'history' section noting when a function was added/updated; I haven't researched this, but its not there on "dateTimeFormat"...
more robust documentation - the descriptions and explanations seem shallower and less thorough; also an opinion w/o a lot of quantitative analysis.
Anyone else feeling this way?

To display the versions of a form, choose Utilities -> Versions.
The version list includes the following information:
*     Version and status:
*     New
No active version, not available for use as yet.
*     Active
The current form is the active version, in effect in the System.
*     Revised
The current form is being changed. There are active and edit versions of the form.
*     Translated
The current form must be translated.
*     Current language key
*     Original language of the form.
*     Description of the form.
To display detailed information on a version of the form, put the cursor on the version and choose Form info.

If you want that functionality, you have edit the Versions.aspx page (refer the below path) and include your print button and javascript to print it. I believe this is the way you can achieve it

The MoveTo method does not accurately preserve version history

I know this is a tired story ;-) but
this link says that one cannot update metadata (e.g. ModifiedBy) of previous versions of an SPListItem.
Using the MoveTo() method of the API does move both the current list item and all previous versions of course, that much is clear.
But, that method does not 100% preserve the Version History in that if, after it has moved a file, you were to look at the History via the UI, previous versions will have Modified set to the account under which the (in my case) console application has run
to kick of the MoveTo process etc.
This differs from moving using the Content & Structure approach where everything is maintained 100%.
So I deduce that there must be some underlying code using the Content & Structure approach that differs from that using the MoveTo() method.? Is that the case?
And is the link at the start of this question correct? We cannot then programmatically change the metadata on old versions?

1. There must be, but not sure if its publicly accessible. You probably have to disassemle (i.e. using ILSpy) and find out.
2. That's correct, you can't change the metadata of old versions
