I'm hoping to use the new icloud to get photo's on my PC

No, but third-party software might offer that functionality.

I'm pretty certain that I got my version of stuffit, which has worked excellently on my Intel MBP, from that site. I downloaded it around the time when I first got the laptop, so I'm pretty sure that's the site.
If it's not let me know and I can give you links to a different site, or I can just e-mail you the installer file directly.
If it doesn't work for any other reason, or does the encrypted thing that you stated, let me know I'll look into it.

  • Is there a version of Illustrator that works right?

I used CS3 for a while, and it was okay, but its bug where it would create redundant and additional unnecessary anchor points when doing "offset path" was maddening (and inexcusable for anything that is not freeware). It also liked to freeze when exiting the program (that was a minor annoyance; it didn't cause any real problems).
I've been trying out CS5 for a day or two and it has a new set of issues. It doesn't freeze on exit, nor does it create redundant and additional unnecessary anchor points; but sometimes the shortcuts are unresponsive. For example; Ctrl+U for toggling the smart guides sometimes does nothing; the same applies to Ctrl+Z (undo). There are also various things that formerly worked with a single-click that now require a double-click. For example, in CS3 you can click the down arrow on either the fill or stroke color palette; select your color; then *with a single-click* on the other palette's down arrow, you can make the other palette drop down and the palette you just had open disappear simultaneously. In CS5, that single-click only makes the palette flyout disappear; you have to click again to open the other palette.
Also, the smart guides in CS5 don't always work correctly. For example, I had an L-shaped line (3 anchor points) and a single straight line (2 anchor points). I selected the whole line (both anchor points) with the white pointer ("Direct Selection Tool") and then clicked on one anchor point to drag the whole line. I wanted to snap it to the L-shaped line at one of its anchor points; but its anchor point I wanted to snap to wouldn't reveal itself. Oddly enough, if I just dragged one of the anchor points (instead of having them both selected) it worked correctly (but of course, that's not what I needed to do).
So, out of the versions 10, CS, CS2, and CS4; do any of them work correctly in general (i.e., no major bugs of the kind that make you want to pull your hair out)?

Thanks for all of the replies.
With regard to "live text", I don't know what that is off the top of my head. However, I never leave text in a file; I always expand it. My work is almost always extemely basic, consisting of ordinary shapes and compound paths. I can think of one exception where I had to do curved gradients which faded from black to transparent; which I did in CS3. I had to go all the way around Robin Hood's barn to make that work, and I can't even remember exactly how I did it (though I have the process written down somewhere). The first hurdle was making a gradient conform to a very specific shape and match a very specific curve, and the second hurdle was making it fade to transparent rather than to a solid color (CS3 has no built-in functionality for that; i.e., no "transparent" swatch in the gradient controls like Photoshop has). So that may not have been possible in version 8 or whatever.
So given that version 10 (the oldest version that I've tried) had no zoom/scroll with the mouse wheel, I'm guessing that no previous versions (like version 8) did either? Unfortunately, that would be a major handicap for the way I work.
I tried CS4, and maybe there is something to the claim or superstition that the even-numbered releases are better. It doesn't have the issues that CS3 has (i.e., it doesn't freeze when exiting nor does it add redundant and unnecessary additional anchor points when doing certain operations like "offset path"), and it doesn't have the issues that CS5 has (i.e., no unresponsive shortcut key combinations and none of the double-click nonsense that I mentioned).
So I can live with CS4 I think (assuming I don't run into any new surprises). I'd like to try version 8 too because I hate software bloat.

  • Tiger or panther - is there a version of tiger that works for power mac g4

I was searching for a version of Tiger that shows system requirements are compatible with a power MAC G4 - all I find is the 10.4 version of Tiger that shows system requirements as power PC G4 (not power mac G4). Wondering if anyone can help me out.

Still I'm fairly certain it'll work, if worse comes to worse, I've used XpostFacto to install it on even older machines!

  • Is there a Version of Stuffit that works with Mac-Intel?

The real problem is that I need a Windows Media Player. I downloaded the Media Player, but it only saves as a bin or hex file. This requires Stuffit to open. The latest version of Stuffit, and the one recommended on all the posts does not download, but instead unspools encrypted code in a window.
    Anyone have a solution?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Is there any version of Phothoshop that works at least partially on OS X 10.10 Yosemite?

I discovered that so far Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CC both are not working in OS X 10.10, mainly because "Open" and "Save As" dialogs are completely broken.
Some may argue that OS X 10.10 is in beta and that's not 'supported', still after few months of using, with over 100 apps, there are only two that fail completly, Microsoft Lync which is notorious for needing a patch every couple of weeks and Adobe Photoshop.
I am wondering if others had the same problem, if there is any workaround (don't ask me to run a VM or another OS...)

Photoshop CC and CC 2014 work - barring the OS bugs that have not yet been fixed.
And yes, MacOS 10.10 is still in an early prerelease stage with many unfixed issues in the OS code.

  • I just upgraded to os 10.9.5. When I try to open iPhoto, I am told that the version I have(9.3), is not compatible with the os. But it came with it when I upgraded. What do I have to do to get an iPhoto that works with 10.9.5? TIA

I just upgraded to os 10.9.5 on my 15 " macbook pro from os 10.7.5. When I try to open iPhoto, I get the message that it is not compatible with the os. How can that be??? It came with the upgrade. It says the version of iPhoto is 9.3. How do I get an iPhoto that works with os 10.9.5? TIA

This screenshot shows which previous versions of iPhoto are compatible with Mavericks.  It also indicates which versions qualify for a free upgradeto iPhoto 9.5.1 and which require a purchase:
Note 1:  every day more users are reporting problems with iPhoto 8.1.2 so I've included it in the non compatible category.
Note 2:  If your previous version of iPhoto was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll need to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 application on the library before opening it with iPhoto 9.5.1

  • Is there a Metro version of Firefox that works for Non-Touch computers with Windows 8.1?

I have a 64-bit Windows 8.1 computer of which doesn't support Touch features. Is there a Metro version of Firefox that works on 64-bit Windows 8.1 computers that don't support touch? If so, how can I get it?

Okay, thanks. Tbh the only advantage I thought of was the ability for it to open in a Windows 8 mode. Basically like how IE 10 does when opened from the start menu.

  • I only use Windows XP, is there a version of Lightroom that will work with XP

I only use Windows XP, is there a version of Lightroom that will work with XP

Yes if you want to run Version 1....you can still download version 1.4.1 (the last update to Version 1), and your serial number would be good for that.
But if you want to run Version 2 or Version 3 you'll need to buy a new license (i.e. a new serial number), but if you have a valid serial number from any prior version you only have to pay for the upgrade license for the later version, not the full license.

  • Is there a version of PS that can adjust a batch by a Historgram setting?

Is there a version of PS that can adjust mass numbers of high res images for Contrast and Brightness but at the same time constrained by a Histogram setting?
I have thousands of hi res .sid or .png images that are all of various degrees of brightness and need to be brightened to different degrees along with contrast changes.  Although it can obviously be done individually, I am seeking a batch command that can do this without over correcting.   Is there any PS version that can analyze each photo and make brightness and contrast corrections but constrained by a histogram setting?  Because some photos need twice the brightness or contrast than others, using that batch same command will result in many of the photos being over corrected.  Thus, I am looking to adjust via an auto Histogram analysis of each photo to avoid over correction.  Is there any software that does this?

Yes, it can be installed on a network. I teach Dreamweaver at a university in London, so I know that it definitely works. But I'm not a systems admin, so I don't know the details of how it's done. However, the following should be a starting point for your sysadmin: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/enterprisedeployment.html.

  • Is there a version of iTunes that is compatible with Windows 8.1?

Is there a version of iTunes that is compatible with Windows 8.1?

Thanks! The procedure worked great for me (using iTunes 10), however there was one caveat. I also had to edit “AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi” with Orca and change the entry in “LaunchCondition” from
    VersionNT64>=600
    to
    VersionNT64>=501
in order for the Device Manager driver update procedure to work, and iTunes to recognize my iPhone4. Prior to doing this, only “digital still camera” was displayed in the “imaging” entry in Device Manger. Once I did the above, “Apple Mobile Device USB Driver” was listed, and the procedure worked as written.

  • Is there a version of iMovie that will import ProRes files?

Is there a version of iMovie that will import ProRes files?
Final Cut Pro does, but does iMovie HD? And which version?

Luca,  I'm not sure acceptable life in iMovie at 60p is possible, and not sure about YouTube at this point either.
(I have a 2.66GHz Core i5 iMac with 8GB ram running Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.8)
My first export using QT x264 1080 59.94, auto key, +CABAC, crashed iMovie, but later times worked ok.
The non-QT export 1080 HD computer - puts out a 29.97 fps movie with lots of motion artifacts.
I checked plist - videoframerate and newProjectFrameRate were 30, so changed to 60 and redid the import, title, finalize, exports, and share to YouTube.
The non-QT export 1080 HD computer - still put out 29.97 fps.
QT Export x264 1080 framerate 59.94 fixed, auto key, +CABAC put out a 43 Mpbs 59.94 H.264 QuickTime movie which occasionally stutters, but it appears to have the same quality as the original 1080p60 footage.
Moving to a 1080p60 camera has been frought with disappointments.  The latest VLC can play my raw video but it often stutters (from no times to lots of times).
Repackaging as MP4 using ffmpeg -i in.MTS -vcodec copy -acodec copy out.mp4 doesn't get rid of the stuttering.
Toast Video Player also has occassional stutters.
Converting using Handbrake does not eliminate the occasional stutter.
QT playing the prores transcoded source footage claims 255 Mbps data rate 59.94 fps, and it also stutters sometimes, sometimes not.
The Share... YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mByr3Y3wfz4  which appears to only be 30 fps (the mp4 download is 30p).
The 60pQT export uploaded is at: http://youtu.be/Hv1TgcoaxfM also downloads as a 30p MP4 so I have no idea what is going on.
    "(i)Life" in 60p seems a bit complicated.
