Is there a version of Safari for WINDOWS later than 5.7?

I have a Dell XPS 1 which on which I run Windows 7. I have always used Safari as my OS. I am receiving emails which indicate that my version of Safari 5.7 is no longer supported by gmail. I can't find any version of Safari later than 5.7 which is for WINDOWS. Can you please advise? Thanks.

5.1.7 is the most recent: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1531
Last update was in 2012.
I am an Apple guy. The only windows machine I use belongs to my employer. But honestly, Safari for Windows is a dog. You need to find another browser. A newer version of IE should work well with Gmail, and of course there is always Chrome or FireFox.

Apologies I'm not the most technical of people!
Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Regional and Language Options.

  • Is there a version of XCode for windows?

I am a big developer in android and windows apps. And looking to get involved in iOS app dev.
I dont own a Mac, so is there a vesrion of XCode for windows?
Or is a virtual machine my only option?

    This from the Lion EULA:
"2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions.
    A. Standard and Preinstalled Apple Software License. Subject to the terms and conditions of this
License, unless you obtained the Apple Software from the Mac App Store, on Apple-branded
physical media (e.g., on an Apple-branded USB memory stick) or under a volume license,
maintenance or other written agreement from Apple, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive license
to install, use and run one (1) copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple-branded computer at
any one time. For example, these standard single-copy license terms apply to you if you obtained the
Apple Software preinstalled on Apple-branded hardware."
The key words are in bold.

  • When will Apple develop a 64 bit version of Safari for Windows?

I've been using this browser for a while now and absolutely love it!
Features that stand out from the crowd are:
    Apples unique font smoothing technology.
Best colour management available on any browser.
    Speed.
    Excellent web standards coverage.
Most of the competitors are now developing 64 bit versions in preparation for the release of 64 bit Flash and Silverlight. Apple cites improvements for it's Mac OS version 64bit vs the 32 bit. If development isn't in the works then it should be for Windows!

  • Please Help!  I need the latest version of Safari for Windows Vista

      Hey Guys!
I don't recall it being so difficult to upgrade Safari on my computer.  I have Windows Vista and I love Safari!  But every where I go it is telling me that "this site is not supported by your current browser, please upgrade"
No problem.  Except it is!   I use to be able pop over to Apple and upgrade but now it only gives you the choice to upgrade a Mac.  Please don't tell me that I can't use Safari any longer on  Windows Vista.....

I knew someone was going to ask me why I still have Vista!   My computer works great with no problems!   I have had this HP Mini for over four years and not one problem!
    Until now:(
       Thank You!

  • Is there Safari for Windows?

I like using Safari, but my work only has Windows computers. Is there a way to download Safari for Windows?

There used to be but the last version was 3 years ago. If you did find a download of that I wouldn't advise using it.

  • Is there a way to get iCloud tabs to sync between my iPod touch and Safari for Windows?

I would like to know if there is a setting or something that I'm missing over...
I already have iTunes and the iCloud Control Panel on my Windows 8 computer.  Is the iCloud Tab feature Mac-only or can I get it to sync with Safari for Windows?  Thanks for the help.

OS X Lion and Windows 7 users can still sync Bookmarks and the Reading List with iOS devices via iCloud when using Safari 5.1. The iCloud Control Panel 2.1 for Windows also supports syncing Bookmarks with Internet Explorer 9, but not the Reading List as IE simply doesn’t have an equivalent feature.
While not as seamless as the iCloud Tabs feature, Bookmarks and Reading List can still be an effective way to share pages between your Windows 7 PC and your iOS devices; if you’re using Safari on Windows, the Reading List is best for storing and sharing one-time content while Bookmarks obviously are better suited for keeping track of pages that you may want to refer back to more than once.

According to this, I think you can.

So is it necessary to buy a mac to guarantee that a website acts like it should, or is the Safari for Windows enough?

Pages render the same for Mac and Windows in Safari.

  • Why there is no safari update for windows newer than 5.1.7(2012) release?

why there is no safari update for windows newer than 5.1.7(2012) release?
I am really wondering why there is no safari update for 2013 and 2014!?

Why?  Because worms are flying and we all smell of elderberries.
Seriously... Nobody here knows why.  We don't work for Apple therefore we would have no clue as to the official reason why Apple stopped developing / supporting it.

  • Safari for Windows 7 - Where can I get a safe download?

I want to download Safari for my Windows 7 PC.  I cannot find 5.1.7 on the Apple website.  Is that the one that I should be looking for?  If so, where can I get a download of it that won't include a bunch of garbage.
Or, if there is a version that I can download from Apple, which version should I choose?
A hyperlink would be greatly appreciated.

Safari for Windows was discontinued a couple years ago.  By now it's outdated, not standards compliant, etc..  There's no reason why you should use it.

  • My toolbar changed colors in Safari for Windows

My entire menu bar, toolbar, and bookmarks bar is now a weird beige / yellow color. Anyone have any idea what's up? I'm using Safari 5.0.2 on XP. No other browser is affected, my theme remains the same, and I can't find a preference that affects this. It only changed on the last update of Safari for Windows.
    You can see it here:
    http://bit.ly/eQLd5D

I've the same "problem". Everything is in an ugly Beige/yellow colour. I'm using 5.0.4. I have no idea how to change it, and I have tried a lot of things. On my laptop, I use a older version of Safari, there is everything in a kind of silver colour.

  • Safari: For Windows!?

    From Job's WWDC presentation:
11:09AM - "There is one other thing we wanted to tell you
    about that we
think you might like. Safari... it's been a wonderful
    success, there are now
over 18m Safari users. It's climbed from 0 to 5% across the
    entire internet.
If you look at the world of browsers, IE is about 78%, Ffx
    15%, Safari 5%,
other 2% -- we would love for Safari's market share to grow
    substantially.
But how are we gonna do that? Safari for Windows!"
    -Darrel

SAN FRANCISCO - Apple Inc. launched a version of its Safari
Web browser for Windows-based PCs on Monday, pitting it against
Microsoft Corp.'s dominant Internet Explorer and Mozilla's Firefox.
"What we've got here is the most innovative browser in the
world and the most powerful browser in the world," Apple CEO Steve
Jobs said during his keynote speech at the company's Worldwide
    Developers Conference.
Safari, which was released a few years ago for Apple's
Macintosh computers, has captured about 5 percent of the world's
browser market share with more than 18 million users, Jobs said.
Internet Explorer, which is built into Windows, has a 78
percent share, while Firefox has rapidly climbed to gain about 15
percent of the market, he said. Like the other Web browsers, Safari
    is available at no charge.
Jobs claimed Safari performs twice as fast as its
    competitors.
Never one to disappoint his audience, the iconic chief
executive - in his final highlight of his 1 1/2 hour speech - said
Apple's upcoming iPhone will run Safari.
That means, Jobs said, that any application designed to run
on the Safari browser for Macs also would be fully compatible with
the iPhone - Apple's highly anticipated combination cell phone,
iPod and wireless Web browser. The iPhone will be available in the
    U.S. on June 29.
The move to make Safari available to non-Mac users is not
unprecedented: Apple also makes its iPod media players and iTunes
Store for Windows. The strategy is aimed in part at drawing more
    people to its Macintosh computers.
It appears to be paying off. Mac sales have grown
significantly over the past two years, pushing its slice of the PC
market in the United States from 3.5 percent in 2004 to 4.9 percent
in 2006, according to IDC, a market research company.
"Safari is another Trojan horse that introduces an innovation
of Apple to the Windows community and entices them to the Mac
platform," said Tim Bajarin, an industry analyst at Creative
    Strategies, a technology consultancy.

  • How to Uninstall a Plugin in Safari for Windows?

    Hi,
Im using Safari 4.0.3 on Windows XP and can view my installed plugins through Help>Installed Plug-ins, but how do I uninstall plug-ins?
I know that on the Mac they are stored in specific folders but I dont know how it works in Windows. How do I uninstall Safari plugins in Windows?
    Thanks,
    Dan1ell

I am also trying to do this. I am trying to remove the Flash plugin from Safari for Windows. Anybody know how to do this?
Or, is there a Flash blocker for the Windows version of Safari? That would work, too.

  • Safari for windows cannot open PDF files

I'm posting this topic because it was archived in 2009 without a solution.
When clicking a pdf link in Safari for windows (4.0.3) it opens a new window but does not show the pdf. The window remains blank with "canceled opening page" in the status bar.
For me this hangup was caused by the environment variables TEMP and TMP being set to an inaccessible location.
Basically, to open a pdf file Safari needs to safe it to a temporary location. Then Adobe reader can open it from that location. The location is set in the environment variables TEMP and TMP. For me they were set to "D:\Temp", however D was a CD drive hence the file could not be saved let alone opened.
Solution: Go to Control Panel>System>Advanced tab>Environment Variables then check/change the user variables TEMP and TMP to something you are sure is accessible like "C:\Temp".
If this solution works for you please write up a response. Good luck.

There needs to be a way in Safari (or in Acrobat or Windows) to say "if you download a PDF file from Safari, launch Acrobat and open that file."
I'm not on a Windows machine to check at the moment, but in the Mac version you can set in the Safari preferences an option to 'Open safe files after downloading'. I wouldn't be surprised if this were missing from the Windows version though due to the additional security implications this could have on Windows. There is no ability to configure different files types to be opened by specific applications from within Safari, unlike Firefox for example.
You can however open files simply by double clicking the icon in the Downloads window that Safari pops up when a download occurs.
... how I tell Apple there needs to be an option to allow Safari to push streamed or downloaded file types to their correct creator application?
On a Mac, Safari menu -> Report Bugs to Apple...
On a Windows PC, Safari Help Menu -> Report Bugs to Apple... (I think)
