Is there a VFW or WDM frame grab plugin for Photoshop?

I'm looking for a plugin that will allow me to capture a single frame into Photoshop from a video feed from a device using WDM or VFW (Video For Windows) drivers. I have a video device that is using WDM or VFW drivers, but no TWAIN or WIA driver is available for my device. I need to be able to capture a frame into Photoshop from my video-input device which is using a WDM or VFW driver. I'm hoping if one does exist, it is compatible with Photoshop CS1, because I'm using that older version of Photoshop, and don't plan on upgrading yet (it seems to do almost anything I'd ever need a graphics program to do). I'm not even sure such an input plugin exists, but if it does, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Nope. Such a thing would have to come from the camera/ recorder manufacturer or an enthusiastic hobbyist. But the original CS? Do you see how it is possibly completely unrealistic to expect such a plug-in to exist, given that this version had no video infrastructure at all? Sorry to be so blunt, but that's ridiculous...

Are there any plugins for Photoshop CC 2014 which would make it possible to switch scrollbars to the left side of menus?

I'm left handed and work on a Cintiq. Whenever I need to choose a brush or scroll up or down layers, or use anything with a scrollbar really, my hand (the one holding the stylus) is blocking the view. This is not a problem that right handed users encounter because everything is conceived specifically for them but I'm quite sure a lot of left handed users working on pen displays are as frustrated by this oversight as I am. It would be really nice if anyone, especially Adobe, could come up with a solution for this issue. Maybe there's already something out there that I'm unaware of?

A Cloud subscription allows you to use either or both platforms. Since you are allowed to have two working installations you could have one of each with the Cloud.

There is no 64 bit TWAIN plug-in for Photoshop CS5?

I have downloaded the PSCS5OptionalPlugins_Mac_en_US dmg and opened up the "Optional Plug-Ins" and there is no TWAIN driver for 32_64bit.
My Epson Perfection 4990 Photo works fine stand alone. I installed an upgrade for it (the driver) so I have the latest and it is suppose to work with 32 or 64 bit. Photoshop CS5 does not recognize the 32bit_only version downloaded plug-in when I copy it into the Plug-Ins/Import-Export folder.
So how can I get my Epson to be recognized in Photoshop CS5 under File -> Import.? I did have it working in CS4 but CS5 needs a 64bit version and I don't see how to get that and I'm stuck. Would buying Silverfast bridge this problem?

Is there a weblogic 11gr1(10.3.6) plugin for apache 2.4 on windows

I need to find out what version of Web Server Proxy Plugin is the correct one to work with WebLogic Server 11gr1 (10.3.6) and Apache webserver 2.4.
WebLogic Web Server Plug-In 12c indicates that it is backward compatible with WebLogic Web Server Plugins 11gR1 but supports only 64-bit Web Servers. Please refer to Oracle Weblogic WebServer Plug-In 12.1.3 documentation for more information.
However when I goto the documentation I do not find any information.
Any help would be appreciated!

Can you check your web-server if your web-server is 64 bit then you can go ahead and use the 12c plugins .
As it is always good to be on the latest plugins .
If its a 32 bit then you have to stay on 11g plugins for the Webservers.

I am sorry if this post its on the wrong place but I have a JMF issue that is driving me mad.
I have an application that displays the stream of a microsoft webcam with WDM interface, and grabbing a frame in order to create a photograph of my users, everything works just fine but sometimes (like 1 every 15), the stream does not display and instead a purple square does. I check the console out put and this message from stderr displays over and over again:

Is there way to "scale to frame size" a bin of clips?

I running a 1920 x 1080 doc project in Premiere Pro CC with a range of media types and sizes. I purposely did NOT preset the "default scale to frame size" preference to maintain the quality of my still image data base to allow pans and zooms. I have since imported, logged and sub clipped a very large number of stock archive 720 x 486 QT movies. Having done so without presetting the Premiere default scaling, I am now having to apply "scale to frame size" to each edit in my sequence as I work. Is there way to "scale to frame size" my bin of clips? or am I now stuck having to convert the original 720 x 486 QT movies to 1920 x 1080 and then relinking in Premiere to maintain all my sub clipping data?

what about in the bin, select the clip, go up to the top of the screen and beside File and Edit, select Clip
then go down to Video Options
and choose Scale to Frame Size
does that do what you want?

Well, in cases like this, the only thing I can think of is to create an action which simply crops the canvas, but place a stop action on the script to allow you to manually enter how much you want to crop. But again, you would have to manually determine how many pixels you need to crop inwards.
I thought you were going to show an image that had (say a 20 pixel white/black border) - then I would have said you could use the magic wand (or maybe "select color"), then create an action to reverse that selection then crop, but that wouldn't work with this photo. If all the images have the same thickness of border, you can create an action to just crop the image X amount of pixels. Do ALL your images have this exact border?

Wow ! Those shots are beautiful ! I looked at them ( dvxuser site ) a bunch of times, picking them apart ...and love them !
Your DP did a great job ( framing, lens choices, bounces ( fill ), color ( gels on lights for night stuff or is that all CC post ? ).... and also got a lot out of the camera nicely ....both in low light (night , her in bed) and hot situations (day, priest and boyfriend? )... really nice. I want to see MORE... LOL....

Thanks for posting those shots and if you post more let us know... want to see more. Odd...those single frames are better than lots of production stills I've seen through the years.. amazing ! If it weren't for the fact (in digital) that motion stuff is going to the editor every day while the still guy on set is sending his stuff direct to the network or distributer for advertising --- the still guy could kiss his job goodbye with the quality of the stills from the motion.
When you get this done I'd like to buy a copy if you make any DVD's ( dont have blue ray or HD stuff here )....

Enhance frame grabs

Hey guys,
any hints on things to do in Photoshop to enhance the quality of frame grabs off old VHS?
I apply deinterlace using interpolation and then play with Levels/Contrast/Colour..
Then I sometimes try to fix nise a bit with the de-speckle filter.
I realize this is a bit of topic but you guys are geniuses..
iMac G5 2GHz w/ 1.5 Gb Ram Mac OS X (10.4.6) also run an eMac 1.25G & an ageing 733 G4 Quicksilver (not so quick nowadays)

Use the curves adjustment tool. If you can wrap your teeth around that one, it's the best adjustment tool. Levels is pretty good, but I wouldn't use Contrast adjustment becuause it adjusts your entire image without bias. If you use the curves adjustment you can adjust with much more control.
Takes a while to get the hang of it though.

How Do I Differentiate Multiple Video Frame Grabs?

When I generate a JPEG image from a video frame, how do I:
1. apply the version name of the video to the JPEG, instead of the (external) source file name?
2. when generating multiples from the same video, get unique names?
If something like timecode could be used, the JPEG name would be both unique and I could later locate that source frame (among many thousands).
Possible? It is, after all, a Pro app.

Hi Eric,
In Edit > Prefs > General, there is a checkbox for "Auto Scale to Frame Size". Enable that, and any clips imported after that change will automatically be scaled to fill the current frame size. For clips already imported prior to change, you can right-click and manually choose Scale to Frame on clips in your Sequence.
Ideally, you should figure out what format you want to deliver, and start from there. For instance, if the final product will be on DVD, then 720x480 is the size to work with and you would start with a DV NTSC preset and scale clips to fit. Not a good idea to scale everything UP, as you will lose quality, so not recommending full 1920x1080 HD if your sources are all smaller.
Also pay attention to FRAME RATE. You can mix them, but decide which one is most prevalent and that may be the one to use, depends though. If you can give examples of what you have to work with, and where it is going (DVD, YouTube, etc.) then you may get more specific tips

Make Freeze Frame--Grabs 5 Seconds Later

I'm not sure why this is happening, but every time I try to do a Make Freeze Frame of a particular frame in the timeline, it always pulls the image 5 seconds LATER in the timeline!! I've tried pulling the Freeze Frame from the Canvas window and the Viewer window with the same results.
Here are the specs:
Video is ProRes 422 (HQ) @ 25 fps. Timeline matches same specs with square pixels and no field dominance. The footage is exported from a Keynote presentation. However, when I sent the export I chose 30fps although the final footage came out at 25fps. This footage is listed in FCP @ 25fps and if I open it in QT it also is listed @ 25fps.
Any thoughts?

ProRes HQ is a heavy format. Make sure you are editing on a fast RAID and Mac. My guess would be the computer is struggling with the playback of ProRes HQ and by the time you hit your frame grad it takes a moment to process.
Instead of trying to do frame grabs on the fly. I would stop near the section of video you want to make a freeze frame. Then go frame by frame for an exact frame grab. Might be a little slower but more accurate.
In terms of your 25fps. Try re-exporting and confirm your settings are set to 30fps.
