Is there a virus on the iPad

Have there been any virus reports or malware affecting the iPad or any iOS devices?
Thanks

Malware authors write malware to make money.
On the iPad this means stealing passwords, bank info, iTunes accounts, etc.
Not doing what amounts to silly pointless vandalism.
Hold the home button and power button until screen shuts off and the silver apple logo appears-release.
Still doing it?
Check your settings, General-accessibility. All turned Off?

  • Is there a virus scan for ipad

Is there a virus scan for ipad

As of now there are no known viruses for the iOS operating system. So you should be relatively safe and there's no need for anti virus software.
YOu still need to practice safe intrernetting. Don't click on random links in e-mails, don't enter your personal data into sites you don't know, etc. You can still receive phishing mails and the such.
But the nature of the iOS makes it very virus resistant (with the caveat as long as you don't jail break it, if you jail break it then it's no different from other devices and you're on your own there)

  • Virus on the iPad through PDF files?

I heard on abc news about a virus on iPads and iPods.  What is apple doing about this?

There are no viruses on the iPad. There is a PDF bug that Apple is currently working on fixing.
It is very, very unlikely that anyone would be able to write a virus, distribute it, and that you would encounter it in the wild before Apple releases a patch. It took the virus-writers ten years to write a simple trojan horse for MacOS X.

  • Is there an app for the ipad that will allow you to access your mac.

Is there an app for the ipad that will allow you to access your mac via wifi or cell network.

Yep, two of the most popular apps are "LogMeIn Ignition" and "iTeleport." Check them out, they'll both set you back by about 30$ though.

  • Are there Apps to use the iPad in a lab

I work in a research medical lab. Usually I write experiments and data in a lab notebook where I can describe experiments and draw figures by hand and record data. My Question: Are there APPS available for the iPad that would allow me to do this with my data/experiment written documentation????
    Thanks

    HI,
I think your best bet would be a search engine like Google or Bing. If someone can write an app that records your heartbeat for the iPhone: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1307646/iStethoscope-The-iPhone-a pp-replacing-real-thing-hospitals.html
then one would think there's a developer out there somewhere that's working on a "lab" app.

  • Is there an App for the iPad that will show my GPS position on a world map, even if I'm at sea?

Is there and App for the iPad that will show mu GPS position on a world map, even if I'm at sea?
    Thanks,

GPS will show your position anywhere if your device has unobstructed view of the GPS satellites. The issue is that you must find a maps/charts that include all areas of the sea.
There is no mobile data connection required to use GPS on land or sea. Once again your issue is the availability of downloadable maps/charts for the areas you will be traveling.
Sorry, but you can't install an app like NAVIGON on an iPad without 3G cellular data connection:
    copied from NAVIGON app:
...can be installed on any iPhone3GS, iPhone4, iPhone4S, iPhone5 or iPad device (the navigation function is only available on the iPad WiFi+3G)
Can I navigate with my mobile phone?
Answer:In principle yes. For mobile phones there are both Onboardnavigation solutions and Offboardnavigation solutions.
The following requirements must be fulfilled:
    •     The software must support the mobile phone. NAVIGON software
always comes with a compatibility list. The software is guaranteed
to work only for the mobile phones on this list.
    •     The mobile phone must have a GPS receiver. Many new mobile
phones come with a built-in GPS receiver. Otherwise you can use
an external GPS receiver which is connected to the mobile phone
           by cable or Bluetooth.
    •     It should be noted that an offboard solution incurs costs for using
the mobile phone network to communicate with the provider's server.

I used my iPhone maps it works very well. Is there an application for the iPad that could be used on a boat?

    Indeed :-)
This forum is riddled with questions by users that cannot get their computer to do what they want, *despite* the fact they use a very precise and (usually) unambiguous method of telling it want they want it to do -- a programming language. Making it comprehend *natural* language is, by any way of measuring, a number of degrees more difficult.
That said: in what way would a computer program (advanced or "dumb") be able to help the OP? Spell check is one -- but it's not a *fact* that anything written *badly* equals nonsense. In politics, for example, the most eloquent speakers still manage to make a fool of themselves :D The same goes for "grammar". Of course, bad grammar is more difficult to understand -- EVEN for a human. So a computer is bound to fail on that as well.
Fact checking then? I usually can't even find what I want in one go with Almighty Google (which seems to turn things around: if it cannot find "enough" web pages with the exact phrase you asked it, it automatically assumes you are interested in synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, and other *unrelated* stuff! Yeah THANK you but I want to find what I typed in!)
A good starting point would be to define in more detail what this hypothetical software *ought* to do -- that needs to be a bit more concrete than "I want it to do my job for me."

  • Is there an app on the iPad that resembles Microsoft Office?  I need it for school.  If there is please let me know.  Thanks  :-)

Is there an app on the iPad that resembles Microsoft Office?  I need it for school.

The basic apple equivalent to ms office is called i works, which has three components.  Pages is word, numbers is xl, and keynote is powerpoint.  There are many subtle differences, but the are more or less functionaly equivalent.
There are also a number of third part apps available to replicate office functions, such as good reader, docs to go, and my favorite, quick office.     Read the reviews in the app store and pick the one that will do what you need.
You will also get some other suggestions here.

  • Is there away to authenticate the iPad to Wireless without a username and password? (i.e. Device Authentication)

I am contracting for a college and they want to automatically configure 30 iPads for use on their enterprise wireless network.
Current wireless settings are 802.1x using PEAP MSCHAPv2.  Users authenticate using their Active Directory accounts.  They do have a few PCs setup to do machine authentification using the machines AD account. Is there any equivalent for the iPad?
They are willing to open a new SSID if they need to go to another authenication method in order to use certificate authenication.

    Is Radius involved?

  • Is there a camera for the iPad 1?

Is there a camera for the iPad 1?

There is a camera in the original iPAD but it takes photos from inside so you can transfer images from aps to the albums. Some of the less sophisticated art apps have you hold down the start key and the bottom simultaneously.  It will flash and maybe save what you drew or painted. Never a sure bet. I wondered about that camera myself but seriously how awkward will it be taking a picture with this thing? Get an iPhone. You 'll love it. Jury is out on MacBook Pro.
Do you have issues with sound on iPAd I cannot hear anything on it or my Mac.

  • Are there any problems using the Ipad while is is plugged into the wall and charging?

Are there any contraindications using the Ipad while it is plugged into the wall and charging???

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • My iPad mini keeps freezing up is there something wrong with the iPad do I need to get it fix?

MMy iPad mini keeps freezing up on me. Is there something wrong with the iPad? It freez a lot when I'm playing the big fish casino game. What can be done to fix this?

    Hello there Lsu70,
If your app is rendering the iPad unresponsive, I would recommend you use the troubleshooting in this article to help get that resolved, named:
iOS: An app you installed unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open
Start with these steps, but there are additional things to do if these do not resolve the issue:
Follow the steps below and test the app after each step.Restart the app
Close the app and open it again.Restart your device
Turn the device off and on.Update your device software and your apps
Update your device to the latest version of iOS.
    Update your apps:
Open the App Store and tap Updates.
If updates are available, tap Update All.
If asked, enter your Apple ID password. The updates will download and install.
You might need a Wi-Fi connection to update some apps.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling
