Is there a way for me to open 2 emails at the same time?
I often want to refer to a previous email or work on more than one email at a time. Mail seems to only allow one email to be open on the desk top at a time. What am I over looking? Thanks for your help.
Thank you for your comment. I should have said email drafts, whether it be a response to an email I received or a new one I'm creating. If I've got one email draft open it doesn't seem like I can do anything else in mail but complete the draft. I'm not able to view other emails or have more than one draft open at a time. Thoughts?

Casey ComputerYou can click on multiple songs, and change info in the Get Info > Info screen. This applies to most fields EXCEPT Name. iTunes has never allowed the simultaneous change of Name of multiple songs, presumably on the grounds that it is usually an error to do so.
Regarding Genre, yes, this can be changed for multiple songs at once, using the Info tab of Get Info. -

Is there a way to display multiple iPad screens on the same television set concurrently? The idea is to let multiple individuals do something on their iPads in a timed window and then display the results of each iPad users answer concurrently on te same television.
Devices that display two, four, or even eight video signals on a single monitor are available in the video security market. Maybe you could find something there that would do what you want. A quick search on "security tv screen multiplexor" (without the quotes) yielded millions of pages; several on the first page looked promising if you don't mind composite video.

Is there a way that multiple people can work on the same folio?
Yes it is possible. Just set up the same software and configuration on two or three Mac/PCs and then put all the assets of a project on a local or remote server (I use DropBox so it is also available remotely).
I use this technique to upload heavy folios containing dozens of articles.
Mac 1 uploads articles from 1 to 30
Mac 2 uploads articles from 31 to 70
Mac 3 (which could be in an external location) uploads articles from 71 to 110
All three use the same Adobe ID so everything goes in the same folio.
Result: I divided the uploading time by 3.
Remember: the Folio Builder panel is only a window that shows you what happens on the Folio Producer server at Adobe's. There is no folio stored locally on a machine unless you specified it. -

I have tried in Smartview for a simple form where my period dimension was in columns and accounts in rows.
You need to select multiple period and select supporting details, it will show those selected period for which you can add the supporting details.
You can add these details and then submit the data in the form.

Problem accessing hard drive for more than one user at the same time
Hello all,
I recently bought a 2nd generation AirPort Extreeme 802.11n to replace a cheapo wireless router. The main reason I wanted to get the AirPort was so I could attach a USB hard drive which holds iTunes music files Originaly I had a G4 MDD and this was a second internal hard drive. Since my wife and son also share my Mac, we stored the iTunes music folder there, so we could all access the files. That worked fine.
Then I got a early 2009 iMac and gave my wife the G4. My son also has a G3 iBook, using the wireless internet conection. At first I had the drive in an external case attached via Firewire. Both my iMac and my wife's G4 are attached to the network using ethernet, not wireless. She was able to access the music files so long as my Mac was on, but the connection was flaky.
So as mentioned, I picked up a used AirPort Extreme from OWC, mainly to attach the hard drive, since it's no longer in my Mac. It took some fiddling, and I was honestly surpsied that the APE was trickier to set up than expected, but now I have the external drive mounting, and we can all access the files from any of the Macs in the house. It works great except for one thing. If I'm logged into my iMac, and then another family member logs in on the same iMac, we don't all have access to the hard drive. It's still mounted, but the you have no permission to view the files on it.
Then if I remount it, I can access the files, but now the other user can't.
So in a nutshell, only one user can access the drive at the same time from the iMac, but we can all access it from different Macs.
Anyone have an idea of why this is happening and how to remidy it?This is the boilerplate text often used in connection to saving to a network (please NOTE the part where it explains that normally, it does work, but that it is impossible to troubleshoot someone else's network remotely, and that's why it's not supported by Adobe):

Copy the CLOSED file from your server to your local hard disk, work on it, save it again to your local hard disk, close it, and copy the closed file back to the server.
Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support working across a network does not necessarily mean it won't work. It should.
Adobe's position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to guarantee that everything will work correctly in every network, especially given the fact that if something does not work properly, it's probably the network's fault, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting your network.
If you can't work locally, you are on your own, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you must work from a server, make sure your network administrator is a competent professional.
When problems arise, a lot of valuable work can be lost. -
How do I display two open sites at the same time on screen instead of switching between tabs?
I need to open two different websites using Firefox. They appear as tabs, but I can only view one tab at a time and continually have to switch back and forth. I need to have both separate websites open and displayed simultaneously on the screen. Is there a way to do this or an add-on that will support multiple open windows on screen?
You can open all the pages in separate windows and resize and position the windows horizontally or vertically to have them both visible at the same time.
Note the you can drag a tab slightly downward in the browsing window to tear off the tab or use the right-click menu of the tab (Move to New Window). -
Flash files are opening twice at the same time!
When I click a flash link on my page, two swf files open and play at the same time. I've worked on this over and over. Can anyone help?

There's nothing you can do but switch away from Flash and move on to CSS and Javascript for animation and HTML5 for the <video> tag, if you want the broadest audience to see your content. -

Is there anyway I can keep design view, source code AND css open on screen all at the same time?
Constantly clicking between source and css is really becoming irritating, would be so much easier if they were both on screen at the same time.
Any help would be greatYou have two choices.
1 You can go to preferences>general and the very first item (in CS6) is "open document in tabs" if you deselct that then you can view your page in split view and also open up the CSS file and have it visible as well.
2 If you use tabs you can view the page in split view and open the CSS file and then detach the css from the tab and it will be an idependent item. You detach it by highlighting the tab and then dragging it down.
It helps to have a large screen, and better still to have more than one screen, you can put the css on the other screen.

How to run save for web and contact sheets at the same time

my question is simple and a means to save time-
Lets suppose I have 3 camera images and I want to run either save for web applications on 2 cameras at the same time, how/can i do that to save time or lets say contact sheet action on 1 and save for web on the other to save time or photoshop files and this runs in the background?
would really help save me time.Even if you could run the three process in the background at the same time I do not think the duration of the total execution time would be any shorter. You would still be executing the same number of processor instruction reading and writing the same number of files. If the whole processor was constrained by the processing power running them cuncurrenly may increase the processing time because of contention for the processor. If the processes are IO bound that will not change a overlaping the processes may cause more hard disk seaking because of contention of the hard disk arm.

InCopy CS4 and InDesign CS4 cannot open file at the same time!
I have 2 editors that make changes in my indd file. The one editor is able to open the file concurrently with myself (i'm in indesign) just fine. But when the other editor wants to open the file....I cannot open the indd file and vice versa. We are PC based.

And Yes on the Editor A / scenario 1 (Designer opens file and Editor A opens file concurrently). works fine.
Editor A closes out of Incopy and so does Designer. Editor B opens the file and Designer tries to open the indd file and now the designer gets the warning: Cannot open document. You may not have permission or the document may be open already. This is the same error if the Designer opens the file first and Editor B tries to open it while the designer has it open.
Editor A and B are able to have the file open at the same time no problem.
Also this happens to all indd files that Editor B tries to open. So it is not linked to a problem with the file.
one other note: on the server just above the indd file...when Editor B has the indd open in InCopy... a 'temporary' Indesign Lock File appears.

Is there a way for a developer to detect if the Java plugin was blocked?
For best UX in my web application I'd like to know if Java has been blocked because of security vulnerabilities.
If it's been blocked I'd like to show m own message that Java is out of date and they should update.
I don't want to show it everytime Java is out of date since it's only important for me and the user if there are security vulnerabilities. If Java version is not known to have vulnerablities I don't want my users to be disturbed by additional messages or steps reguired to update Java.
Is there a way to detect using Javascript if Firefox blocked a plugin because of security vulnerability?Thanks for the reply.
I have already seen this page but my applet doesn't have a visible area. It's just for communication with external devices and it interacts with Javascript. In my case it doesn't look like in the link.
Fortunately in new version of Firefox a large modal appears with option to update Java which is quite OK. I am only affraid that if there are no new versions of Java Firefox will display this small dropdown in the top left hand corner which our users tend to miss.
