Is there a way in Final Cut Pro 7 to save custom Batch Export settings?
Is there a way in Final Cut Pro 7 to save custom Batch Export settings?
Don't think so. Years ago, I seemed to figure out a way in an earlier version of fcp, but when I tried to recreate it, I couldn't make it work.
You can send to compressor and save custom presets there.

Is there a way make Final Cut Pro X NOT open every event/project I have worked on at open?
I will admit, I am quite new to Final Cut Pro X, but have been a FCP user for years - this version is like learning to walk all over again.
Everytime I open FCP X, it loads every event/project I have ever worked on, and it takes a looooong time. Is there a way to have it open blank and then let me open only the Events I wish to work with?Event Manager is only $4.99 but if you don't mind doing it manually, it will cost you nothing.
This Apple help article tells you how to hide the Projects and Events you don't want opening in FCP X
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4740
As usual it makes it sound quite complex but all it involves is making 2 folders which you name Final Cut Events - Hidden and Final Cut Projects - Hidden and dragging the project and event folders you don't want into them. (The exact name of the folders is not critical so you can choose your own if you wish).
When you want to see them again you drag them back into the original folders.
You should move the folders with FCP X shutdown. -
Hello:
Why is there no disc for Final Cut Pro X?
Is there one coming?
Can and how do I move the downloaded application from my old machine to a new computer?
Thanks! You purchase FCX in the Mac App Store, there is no disc. You can reload past purchases under your account within the app store. You should also be regularly backing up your system

I'm going to save my old Hi8 tapes on a hard disk using final cut pro x, to save it for the future. But how shall I export it, and in what will be the best quality to save it in?
Hi Carsten...good luck with your project.. I had just about as many Video8 & Hi8 tapes as
you that I digitized and eventually brought into FCPX..took me many months not weeks
to do so,BTW, as each tape was 60-90 minutes in lenght...and many hundreds of
gigab ytes of storage ( uncompressed AVI files)..it's tedious work unless you plan to farm
it out to a processing house...also regarding eventual storage format...remember
Hi8 is 400 lines or about 540X480 in todays resoultion metrics..you can't make hi-def out
of source that starts out as 400 lines...in my case I rewrapped the avi files into .mov
containers and imported the mov files into FCPX where I got rid of the hundreds of
minutes of Colorado mountain landscapes to get to that one minute shot of the kids
on horseback ( late 80's for most of my archives)..so its a job..scouring thru 30X90 min
of source to not miss those precious memories takes diligence and hard work but its worth
it; eventually I encode the uncompressed video I want to save in H.264 format Staandard

I know iMovie dv to Final Cut Pro has no audio. At least with my old events. But is there any way I can make it so future dv files Imported From Camera in iMove 2011 will later work in FCP?
Hi
Yes and No
And it depend's on what quality You want and how much problem You stand in FC - and what version of FinalCut You mean.
• FinalCut Pro-X - I have no clue at all
• FinalCut Express and Pro (till 6.0.6) - I'm very familiar to.
• If You take out the Imported/Captured material from Event's - it seems to be 100% OK - but in wrong codec so it will work in FinalCut BUT with a lot of RENDERINGS - every slight change = Need of RENDERING. To much for me.
• If You aim to do some Editing in iMovie them move over to FinalCut = Moving from Event's to Project's result in that every second line in the picture is discarded ( and can not be repaired ) so the project will lose a lot of quality - whatever way You use to Export/Move it over to FinalCut.
So at least I'm better of by Capture in FinalCut from Start as I can keep 100% quality till Movie is done.

Downscaling a movie from 1080 to 720 the best way in Final Cut Pro?
Which way is best to achieve the best quality in this procedure? I was hoping to be able to do this using the Final Cut Pro application, hopefully not the compressor or any other application if possible.
Does hardware affect quality that much?
Yes, it does.
Is it not a matter of converting 0 and 1 anyway?
Yes, but some things do this better than others. Hardware is best...then the Terranex...then the other hardware. Then After Effects which does this VERY well. FCP is low on that list. Putting the 1s and 0s in the right GOOD order. I'm no engineer, so I can't say specifically what it happening. I can say what my experience has shown.
I think Terranex is about 60K$?
You don't buy one. You take your tape to a post facility that has one and pay them to do it. Or you buy a capture card. Yes, the Mini will upconvert DV to HD, and it will do a decent job. THe Kona card does it better, but the Matrox isn't too far behind. I have both the MXO2 and the MXO2 mini..plus I have used the Kona 3. The Kona is slightly better, but you can't go wrong with the MIni. Real time conversion as you capture, plus the ability to monitor out to an HDTV...bonus!

How Can I do an export that from Final Cut Pro 7 that is specific to these settings?
Hi
I am current trying to export out a movie from Final Cut Pro 7 but the settings that are required are very specific and I was going to try it through compressor as well but I wasn't sure if that would work either.
Here are the settings:
HD:
1 Video CODEC XDCAMHD50
2 Wrapper format QuickTime Self-Contained
3 Bit rate 50 Mbit/s Constant Bit Rate (CBR)
4 GOP Long GOP
Closed GOP
5 Time code Must include embedded time code. Start-timecode: 10:00:00:00
6 Movie version UK Home Video Version
7 Delivery time As per contract. Supplier to specify filename, delivery format and estimated time of arrival via email at least 60 days before transmission unless otherwise specified in contract. This should be accompanied by an IMDB link.
1 HD video format 720 line progressively scanned (720p) @ 50Hz (25 FPS)
1080 line interlace scanned (1080i) @ 50Hz (25 FPS)
2 Resolution 1280 x 720
1920 x 1080
3 Aspect ratio Content should be 16:9, however 4:3 will be accepted on exception (such as for older movies shot in 4:3)
4 Graphics Must be within 16:9 safe graphics area (EBU R95-2000)
5 Chroma format 4:2:2
1 HD audio format 24 bits/sample 48 kHz sampling rate
2 Track layout Track 1 – 2.0 Stereo L mono
Track 2 – 2.0 Stereo R mono
Track 3 – L
Track 4 – R
Track 5 – C
Track 6 - Low frequency effects LFE
Track 7 – L Surround
Track 8 – R SurroundFirst of all, what are your sequence settings? Looks like they want stereo AND dolby 5.1 audio tracks embedded in the quicktime (I've delivered a few films like this). Do you have a surround sound mix?
You will almost always have more options and control in compressor over fcp so that's the way I'd go, but not sure compressor will give you the ability to match these specs.
Do you understand about safe zones for graphics? If not, post back.
I don't see any option to set the GOP in xdcam in compressor. This may be built in to the xdcam format.
I don't see any option for 720 xdcam hd in compressor.
There are many other tools available for this kind of work, but they may be out of your price range. You might want to just find a facility with experience in deliverying this sort of thing. -
Final Cut Pro Trial won't let me export
So I got the Final Cut pro Trial about 2 weeks ago and I was able to export 3 videos just fine. Now all of a sudden I just finished my 4th video, added commentary and everything else and it won't export. I don't see anything wrong with the project except for some reason the cross dissolve transitions won't render. Nothing is going on in the background, I've tried closing out the program, restarting my computer, nothing helps. I can export any other projections too. For some reason I click file, share, master file and nothing happens. I'm able to click it, but once I click it, nothing happen, where as before the export settings pop up. I always tried using the export option on the right, and the same thing happens. I checked and all the files are working fine, so it's not like any clips are missing. Can anyone help? Thanks
Could you post a screen shot of the project libary and the toolbar?
Reinstalling the app doesn't effect the events or projects. Sounds like some weird permissions problem. -
Is there student discount for final cut pro x?
I really like the program Final cut proX but the price is really high so I was wondering if I can download a teacher or student discount version anywhere?
CheersSorry but there are no individual educational discounts for FCPX.

Final cut pro warning dialogue on sharing with compressor settings keeps disappearin
Every time I try to 'export with compressor settings' a warning dialogue that keeps appearing for a fraction of a second and then disappears. Seems to be part of the sharing montitor - but can't see it long enough to see what it is. Didn't happen when I was running the trial version but now that I'm using the full version I can't seem to export anything - I assume because of this dialogue.
Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas on how to cure it?Actually I think its in the pref's files. All I did was create a second account to log into my computer and relaunched Finalcut there. Because the working and project files are on an external drive it works fine.
A little unhandy as I can't get into my mail while in my dummy account - but it works. So I'm wondering which prefs files to delete to find out if that's the problem. -
Final Cut Pro X won't let me export because I worked from an SD card
Hello,
I made the stupid mistake of editing my project from an SD card and now FCPX won't let me export it. I have since exported the original files onto my hard drive and I attempted to relink the files in the project folder but no luck. The option to relink files opens a dialogue box but the computer can't seem to find the files and the option to manually locate the files is greyed out. This is a time sensitive issue and if I can't solve the problem I will have to stay up all night to complete the project again. The video files are AVCHD, does this have something to do with it? I am not very tech savvy so I have no idea what to do. Help??TTry the reimport from camera function to import from the card.

TS4168 My final cut pro X crashes every time I export media
I just purchased FCPX after using the free demo. Now, when I try to export a file, FCPX simply shuts down. Can someone help?
You may have corrupt or incompatible material in your movie - use the inspector info tab to check each clip in the timeline and make sure it's compatible.
Have you tried using Cmd+E to Export Media (this sometimes works when Share will not.
Also - try trashing your preferences,
Unexplained faults like this can often be fixed by clearing out FCP X's preferences (for some reason, they get knotted up from time to time).
Download Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager (free, simple to use, and perfectly safe, both to download and use).
http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
With Preference Manager, you can backup the Prefs when FCP X (or any of the Apple Professional Applications) are working normally. Then when either of the applications are acting strangely, Trash the Preferences, then Restore from your backups (just a mouse-click).
If you trash the prefs and don't restore them, you will need to manually restore all your FCP X settings again, so it's a great idea to backup Preferences from time to time when FCP X is working well, then your backups are up to date.
Doesn't fix every problem, but it fixes a lot.
